Free Stuff - Needs Updating

There are quite a few free and free2play games and mods on steam. You can find a full list here. Note that free games are not permanently attached to your Steam account like actual purchases would be. You'll need to manually download a game again from the website if you uninstall it.

My degree is in Information Systems. I'm partial to turn-based strategy games and ARPG clickfests. My casual game of choice is Everyday Genius: Squarelogic. I think there's a pattern there, but it took me a while to find it.
I'm in the medical field... Everyday Genius: Square Logic is one of my absolute favorites. Go figure? I think it's one of those games that has universal appeal.

I was so excited to have unlocked the achievement for clearing a location. I'm slowly working on clearing a region. It may take years. ;)

Been playing Natural Selection 2. I'm only playing Marine until now, but I can tell you is one of the best Coop multiplayer games I've ever played (not counting MMOs because not my type... Yet)

Guess who just added the original Wasteland to his Steam account?
Hint:
It's me
thank you for the reminder, just check my email and it was there

I had decided to back the kickstarter of Wasteland 2. I receive keys for wasteland 1 and bard's tale as bonuses that I was not expecting.

Just finished A Walk in the Dark. Game isn't exactly what I expected it to be..

Like I said in the Groupees thread.. it's not a Limbo clone. All that's similar is the art style. Gameplay is like Super Meat Boy.

The level design is pretty good, but gets held back a bit by the slightly unresponsive controls. Either the controls need to be tighter, or obstacles need to be spaced out a bit more. There are times where you can just barely make a jump over an obstacle without hitting a spike which can be frustrating for some levels where there's not a whole lot of room to jump, or in the faster paced "Cave" levels.

Difficulty (for me) ranged from medium to extremely hard, especially for the last few levels. You will die a LOT in this game, and there are plenty of death achievements lol. I have the achievement for 1,000 deaths.

Don't play if you're looking for a casual platformer. It will get hard, and some levels require practice to finish. Took me about 4 hours to finish it.

This is how I'd score it:

Gameplay: 7.5
Controls: 5
Sound/Music: 7
Story: 0 (What story?)

Overall: 7

In other news.. the WB Humble Bundle bonuses have been leaked:

Looks like I'm okay then. I've got MKK and FEAR. I have no desire for Imposters crap and don't have Origins yet. Guardians of Middle Earth looks neat, but I haven't read much good regarding the game so far.

Guess there's gonna be a whole lotta free drops from fellow cags next tuesday. Oh, and the usual lurkers who think they can sell each item for $1 apiece, of course.

Shame it isn't MK9 complete, but whatever, it'll be $2.50 or in a bundle before you know it.

what is the trade rate of coupons nowadays?  I crafted several bags even though I was going to wait until Winter Sale to see if crafting yielded an extra bonus.

Gotham City Impostors cards fetch a pretty penny. If you had the game before it went F2P, get your cards farmed NOW.

They'll be less use than a MysterD dictionary once cards available to the great unwashed.

OK, I figure I should get these out before the seasonal lurkers CAGs come in in droves. Quote with what you want and I'll PM you.

I also have keys for the following, but am unsure if they have been redeemed or not...

(All above are keys except Batman which is a HB gift link.)

I also have a GOG gift/key for The Witcher if someone wants that.
I'll take 39 Steps if you still have, please.

Hmm. Must decide if I wanna toss in an extra $3 for this...

Arkham City - own it
Arkham Origins - gonna buy the inevitable GOTY, so no interest
Scribbledudes - no interest
FEAR trilogy - no interest
Gotham City - very little interest
Mortal Kombat - nostalgia?
LOTR - interested

$3 might be better spent buying Hotline Miami, I'm afraid.

I doubt you'll need to BTA to get the bonuses this time around, as long as you buy it during the first week. So it'd only be a dollar for them if you haven't bought the bundle yet.

Unless they won't give you any cards because you technically didn't pay the stupid $7 per card fee they impose on F2P games...

I thought they changed it to where the BTA unlocked that stuff and the entry level was just for the initial games?

They only did it for 2 bundles.. and there were notices on the main page for them. I doubt they'd remove the notice if they were going to stick with that rule.

So I decided to bite on the WB bundle as I don't own any of the games but Scribblenauts. Probably won't play these for awhile though. Friend let me get Dragon's Dogma Dark Arisen off of the PSN account and the game isn't half bad so I've been absorbed in that.

That's not a bad bunch of bonuses. I don't have any of those thankfully. :D/

Although, I do own a retail copy of F.E.A.R. (not joking, because who didn't?)

Edit: Also, if they really do include some Arkham Origins DLC... AWESOME! Clever marketing trick right there.

I really wish I hadn't recently bought the FEAR complete bundle. This bundle would've been crazy awesome if I hadn't.

Wait - when did the MysterD dictionary come out?

And what's in it? ;)

EDIT:

Uh... wait a sec.

Doesn't Mortal Kombat Kollection use GFWL?
Yep, it sure does.

I've had MK:AK for a while.

EDIT 2:

I wonder if WB will patch out GFWL fronm MKAK.......
I actually do wonder about this.

Glad you brought it up, actually...

For all you achievement junkies (that don't cheat using SAM), don't bother trying for the Ninja Cat achievement in A Walk in the Dark. It has to be the hardest achievement I've ever seen. You have to play through the entire game without exiting, without dying over 10 times. Originally they made it so you needed 0 deaths to get the achievement, but the devs couldn't unlock it, so they updated it. I've died over 1,100 times in my playthrough, lol.

Hmmmm...While I have FEAR CE from Retail (Non-Steam), I might have to jump on this just to get FEAR on Steam.

FEAR 1 is just such a damn classic.

Plus, WB and me been emailing back & forth about me trying to get Batman AA G4WL key activated on Steam - and they keep asking for a receipt I can't seem to find and want pics of me owning game. I did send 'em pics of me owning Batman AA on G4WL.

So, who knows...since it in HB, ain't a big deal if they don't gimme a key.

{MysterD shoulder shrug}

Sounds like buying games retail is a hassle

Ugh, after all of your comments about this game, even though I really want to like it, I have a feeling I'll hate it.
