Sigh, I went to the SEN store to get Contrast and Resogun free because I don't have a PS4 yet. It came up as Free for PS+ just like it should, but after finishing checkout I noticed an email notification. It charged me for both games!

To make matters worse, so many people are flooding the support lines right now about network issues that I can't get through to anyone. Phone Support auto hangs up after 40 minutes (I tried twice, and it ended at the 40 min mark both times), and Live Chat is unavailable/grayed out. What a cluster.

Wait, are you playing Call of Duty? I never would have expected that from you. You continue to surprise me.
No, friend brought his PS4 in from Phoenix over the weekend and it's one of the games we played. I do enjoy the multiplayer gameplay in CoD quite a bit as long as I'm playing with people who are around my skill level. Just played locally this weekend with some friends and it was great because we were all new to the game. I even won a round or two! In a couple months time when my friends all have all the maps memorized like the backs of their hands I will enjoy playing it with them a lot less. I'll never buy another CoD for myself, I just don't have the desire to sink so much time into the MP to be able to compete online. But I get a brief kick out of it when playing with friends.

The single player portion of those military shooters are some of the most boring things I've ever played.

Going around the thread to see what I might have missed...

On a more serious note...must resist buying Beyond Good & Evil!

So, would you say you only play games for the gameplay mechanics and story doesn't matter? ;)
I can appreciate both ends of the spectrum, if a game has average to mediocre gameplay, but an engrossing story I'll play through it (for instance, Spec Ops: The Line), and I can equally enjoy a game with little story if the gameplay is enjoyable.

Last time that offer was up I used it on a $100 gift card and ended up using that towards a DualShock 4 and a PS4 camera. This time I'll wait for a blue DS4.

Cool thing about PS4 is that each controller can be tied to a different PSN ID. You and your buddy can both earn trophies for the co-op game at the same time.

I can't believe I can't listen to in-game sounds via a regular pair of Bluetooth headphones connected directly to my PS3. Just got a nice pair that it looks like I need some sort of dongle for the headphone jack in my stereo. Unless I'm missing something, this should be a damn core feature if I ever heard one.

[\rant]
you should be able to if you pair them with the ps3 and then change the ps3 sound output device to the headphones

It's so much easier to manage that stuff on PS4 than Xbox 360 ever was. If I played Guitar Hero on a guitar controller on Xbox 360, just the act of switching over to an Xbox 360 controller after I was done was a big pain in the ass.

A lot of Xbox 360 games blocked 2nd/3rd/4th players from getting achievements and I already saw on GB's livestream that they could do that pretty easily on PS4, though maybe LEGO Super Marvel Heroes blocks it like they did on Xbox 360?

I noticed this glitch last week when I tried the same thing. You had to basically back out, and log back in. Adding each game separately, and purchasing them separately, seemed to get rid of the problem.

On another note why did you click on purchase when it clearly showed you on SEN that you were being charged closed to $30.00?

Always double check that the total price on the cart is correct before checking out, as they give you a second chance to double check. I had the issue where Resogun and Contrast showed up with prices, so I removed them and re-added them until they showed up as free in the cart for check out.

Can't the 360 already do this?
Yes, but it's great that the PS4 now does it too. I have a question, related, do headsets plug into the controller, and can more than one player have a headset at the same time? This would be for playing online together, but also for recording/streaming.

By the way, if you want to do your massive trophy unlock with Sound Shapes on PS4, don't do it right now. There's some issue with the trophies that causes a trophy sync error, so you might as well wait on that until it's fixed.

Yup. Very cool. It's funny, one click of the PS button and you take over as the "lead" profile on the PS4. Makes for easy griefing.

Can't the 360 already do this?
Yeah. The PS4 handles it smoother than the 360, but yeah 360 has been doing this since forever.

Yeah you should be able to, but you can't. There's no place to change the sound output besides the physical connection type. I went through all the settings & perused various message boards and they all say the PS3 can't directly output it's own audio (game or music or movies) to a Bluetooth device. I now have to see if something exists that I can plug into the headphone jack of my stereo that can then send that audio via Bluetooth to my headphones.

You can use headsets for each controller, though I don't know if you can use it for commentary on videos you're recording.

Ah, that is good to hear. I would think it would work for commentary since it can use the headset for commentary when it's just one person. But hopefully somebody can test this out and verify.

Finally got around to doing remote play with my PS4 last night. Man, that is a freaking game changer for me. Having a job and kid and whatnot, my gaming during the week has been limited to half hour to 1 hour bursts in the morning/after dinner. Last night I played AC4 for an hour while I was in bed and it was flawless (well technically it bugged out and disconnected once, but that's okay). The picture is really, really good. I just have to get used to not accidentally touching the rear touchpad during play (thankfully L1/R1 don't do much in that game, but it might be problematic for something like call of duty where that's the grenade button).

I know a lot of people have been lauding remote play as surprisingly usable, but I just want to add that I spent half and hour playing Killzone online MP last night over remote play with no issues, all wifi only. I'm also getting closer to finishing Contrast entirely over remote play and I play Resogun all the time that way and it feels perfectly spot on. It's an impressive piece of tech and I'm glad they gave just enough flexibility in configuration so more than a handful of people could get it working.

sooner or later I'll try it over the internet - I've got a meager (?) 20m up at home which is hopefully enough to sustain something.

Edit: I guess I did have the one issue that I really, really suck at Killzone. I mean I am completely awful.

I'm really curious to see how it holds up next time I'm somewhere with good wifi.

Can't blame that on the tech at least!

I really want to use remote play upstairs but it just isn't working for me. I turned off power save on the Vita Wi-Fi and tried it both connecting directly and via wi-fi. Anywhere on the first floor is great. I spent about 3 hours trying to get my old router to act as a repeater last night without any luck but I think I'm going to just spend the $30 and get a quick and dirty repeater that plugs into a wall outlet. As it stands though even without it working at the moment it's something I think is great and want. I'm not giving up on it.

I really want to use remote play upstairs but it just isn't working for me. I turned off power save on the Vita Wi-Fi and tried it both connecting directly and via wi-fi. Anywhere on the first floor is great. I hope you have better luck with those repeaters than anyone I know ever has. They usually do not work worth a shit in my experience. Even if you do get it working, it is going to increase the latency since there is now another wireless hop to go through. Good luck with it.

Thankfully, mine seems to work just fine and I'm using a basic FIOS router. I agree with Gator. It's not worth your time and money to use a repeater. You are better off picking up a new router on BF.

So if your RP session disconnects does the game automatically pause on the PS4's end?
Depends on the game. Knack it does, NFS it doesn't (but that game doesn't pause at all), don't think I've been disconnected playing Resogun so not sure on that one.

What blog post? I'm not seeing the store update on the PS Blog yet, so it hasn't happened just yet.
The PS+ one from yesterday that listed Worms 2 as the only sale.

I've had some success with them, but I do think the money and effort is better spent on upgrading your router or finding a better position in the house for the router you already own.

Yeah, a repeater is going to add more latency to your network and just extend the coverage area.

I'm not really sure then what to do then, I already have the Asus Dark Knight router....which is a top of the line router (well at least for home use). I realize that a repeater will add more latency but for whatever reason I'm not getting as strong of a signal in my bedroom. It was almost working last night as it would connect but I couldn't get a stable connection. I can't really move my router (not an option for me) and don't think it would help because it's actually not super far away anyway. My PS3\PS4\XBOX360 etc. run and download things wonderfully on wi-fi (but on the first floor). My router and the repeater I ordered both have WPS so it should be a snap to setup. I figure for the $30 it's worth a shot. Worse case scenario I ebay for $20 it if it doesn't work out.
