This thread has been replaced by TSDT v11

Daily Deal:
Please check the Steam homepage.

Weeklong Deals:
Steam usually has week-long deals that change on Mondays at 6PM UTC. They mostly feature indie games, and may not run every week.

Sale summary lists:

Key:
⤷ indicates DLC, — specifies part of a pack, + shows alternative versions, ⚠ highlights things worth knowing, ♫ is obvious, and ... denotes a multi-pack.

Holiday Sale 2013 | 19/12/13 through 3/1/14:
Days 1-3, 4-6, 7-9, 10-12, 13-14.

Spring/Autumn Sale 2013 | 27/11/13 through 3/12/13:
All days.

Steam deals on other stores: (Related threads on CAG.)

Indie* bundle threads: (*Not always indie, nor always a bundle.)

Free stuff:
There are quite a few free games (mostly Free to Play) and mods available via the Steam platform, a comprehensive list of which can be found in this thread on the SPUF.
(NOTE: free games are not permanently attached to your Steam account like actual purchases would be. You'll need to manually download a game again from the website if you uninstall it.)

GoG has their little voting thing up for tomorrow's deal and one of the choices (and currently in the lead) is:

Baldur's Gate 1-2, Neverwinter Nights 1-2, Planescape Torment, Icewind Dale 1-2, The Temple of Elemental Evil, Dragonshard, Demonstone for around 21 dollars.

Doesn't say if it includes the expansions Tales of the Sword Coast (BG1), Throne of Bhaal (BG2), or the plethora of Neverwinter expansions. If it does include all of those, it isn't a bad deal considering their regular bundle is usually 20 but I don't think it typically includes the Neverwinter games or Dragonshard or Demonstone.

Only games I REALLY want from the collection are digital versions of BG 1 and 2, ID 1 and 2, and Planescape. Getting the rest is gravy. Temple of Elemental Evil is actually a pretty decent dungeon romp.
I still say wait for the collection to go on sale for 5 bucks again at gamersgate or gamestop

I just recently bought Dragonborn from Amazon DVG when it was 75% off - couldn't resist.
Ain't touched it yet.

Still missing Dawnguard + Hearthfire.
I decided to skip buying Dragonborn since the other two weren't also 75% off. As much as I really want to start playing Skyrim, I don't want to do so without the complete package: I've waited this long, so I can definitely wait another month or two - it's not like I'm short of other games to play.

The only thing that keeps me from doing that is, GOG's stuff always works. I can see there being issues with other site's versions.

Also, question about Secret Santa: What happens in the unlikely event NONE of the games on their wish list goes for less than $5?

I'm just gonna assume that won't happen

I feel like everybody here should have at LEAST one game, but more likely over a dozen, games on their wishlist for 5 bucks or less

Looking at my top ten, I'm willing to bet at least 3 games out of just those ten are five dollars or less. It wouldn't be all that surprising if 5-6 of them were at that price, and I think all of them save Far Cry 3 have an outside chance of reaching that price point. And that's just my top ten. I really don't think this is a scenario you have to worry about

based on past sales, it's pretty easy to tell what games are going to go close to what prices. If somebody really doesn't have a single game on their wishlist for five bucks or less during the sale, they really have nobody to blame but themselves

Good suggestion, for the most part - especially on GG, since it's DRM-FREE there.

The only thing is - I think GOG currently has the only version of NWN2: Complete that's totally DRM-FREE.

EDIT:

GG has NWN2: Complete w/ Securom and other DRM - ewww.
the D & D pack doesn't include NWN games anyway...so buy the NWN games from GOG and the pack from gamersgate. It'll run you like, 10-12 bucks that way

GamesRadar came out with their Top 25 Games of the Year earlier today.

I can't argue with the top 3 after playing them. I loved them all enough to say it could be a three-way tie for me (and no I'm not trying to be the anti-Mooby). :D I just like too much stuff for my own good.

Plus, c'mon, how could I ever slight The Last of Us ;). One of my favorite levels was the redesigned SLC downtown, it was kind of surreal to play through. That's all I'll say on the that though, because PC master race and all, right?
Very interesting list. I definitely would have included a few of my favorite indie games here, but as a huge fan of both the Vita and the 3DS, I'm happy that both handhelds received much love. Tearaway & Guacamelee is absolutely fantastic and probably two of my top 5 games of the year, Animal Crossing & Zelda & Fire Emblem also were terrific for the 3DS. It's funny that there are few console exclusives, which is fine for me since I sold my PS3 after I beat Last of Us. I don't know if I would have rated the AAA games so highly, but at least I'm happy Brothers got a worthy mention. I probably would have added Gunslinger and swapped Rayman Legends and Bioshark Infinite, but otherwise I think this is mostly a good list.

I'm thisclose to getting a 3ds JUST for zelda

Yes, just send me your mailing address so I can ummm mail you a Steam wallet card and totally not rob your house on Tuesday.
I'm sort of imagining you completely misunderstanding the way the internet works, and hanging out in front of Spoder's house Tuesday morning waiting for the delivery man to come dressed as Spiderman with antlers on.

I got one for an early x-mas gift, the Zelda styled 3DS. I don't think I'm anywhere close to finishing it... If I am, wow, way too short... but its been solid. Really, really, happy I have it though I'm not liking the dungeons as much as I have in the past... Its hard to put a finger on it but I just feel that the dungeons are smaller than they where in a Link to the Past.

Anyhow, the last few days have been crazy... If there is some wild ass deal I'm missing out on some please let me know. :)

We're gonna be in deal purgatory for the next couple days

I feel the same way. I almost bit on the Amazon Black Friday $20 Legendary bundle but I would really like that for $15.

According to this post, SteamOS detects wireless 360 controllers and lets you rebind all of the controls (good for me, since I use that as one of my main controllers).

http://steamcommunity.com/groups/steamuniverse/discussions/0/648814395801028924/#c648814395824500540

It also detects PS3 controllers, shown in this video.. which is interesting.

This is good in case I end up hating the Steam controller.

You still require the dongle, though, right?
Yeah, the wireless 360 controller uses its own frequency so it'd require the dongle. For the PS3 controller it should be able to connect via bluetooth (I'm just assuming this though, it might require a USB connection).

I didn't know if they were throwing the 360 receiver hardware into their steambox prototypes or something (then I thought about it and realized I had no idea as to the legality of even doing something like that).

Well the problem is that by the time you're played through 20% of it, it'll have dropped substantially...
I plan to keep my play rate at 0%.

In all seriousness it is way past time for me to prune my wishlist. I'm going to clear the list and start from scratch with the games that I actually want to play right now and would be appropriate for the Secret Santa exchange.

Forgot if I posted this here.. The tracking info for the Steam Machine says it weighs 35lbs.. some people contacted Valve asking why it weighs so much, and got a response back saying they don't want to kill the suspense. I think it's obvious there's something extra included with it, but I don't know what.

4 extra Steam machines.

Either A) digital games weigh more than we all thought B) it's GabeN's left testicle.

In case you were wondering, the answer is yes, I do still hate you

Amen. I'm gonna start with removing (almost) every indie title that's likely to be bundled. I'm gonna leave on bundled stuff I missed in case someone can track down a cheep key here on CAG or elsewhere.

And I ran out of likes for the day (24 hour period), so I'm done with that for now. But in the spirit of it, +1 to all code droppers and people who say thank you, and to all the lurkers, I hope you get attacked by a rabid reindeer.

I don't really need the D&D pack + NWN2: Complete, if it gonna be expensive. I own most of it from Retail, anyways. And I don't know the chances of me actually playing these games anytime soon. I'd have to get it on the cheap.

I think mostly, I'd be interested in having them DRM-FREE.

Plus, I'm missing BG1: Sword Coast expansion + NWN1 Kingmaker DLC pack + NWN1: any Premium Mods released after it; and ESPECIALLY the NWN2: Mysteries of Westgate expansion.

Pretty sure both NWN games were up for sale pretty damn cheap in that Insomnia promotion GOG had.

Might've missed your chance...but as you said, probably won't be playing them anytime soon anyway

Edit: This reminds me how badly I need to play BG2 and Planescape Torment. WHY ARE THERE SO MANY GAMES

Is it crazy that I'd be willing to pay up to $2 to get a game on Steam that I already have a DRM-free copy of? It's part of a series and I have every other game on Steam but this one, otherwise I wouldn't care.

Now if only stupid ass Steam would list installments in a series in chronological order instead of alphabetical order in your library... the one thing Ubisoft does better than Steam although I don't know if they do it for any series other than Assassin's Creed.

Sweet.

Waiting for major sale. ;)

And here' to hoping...

the rest of MGS games that hit PC get re-released;

and that MGS games missing on PC actually get thrown here.
this was made and ported by platinum so i doubt it's gonna have any bearing on the rest of the series

bayonetta tho? i'd play that again

BG2 and Throne of Bhaal are amazing. Seriously. Torment is good too but be prepared: It is A LOT of reading. A LOT.

Having a game actually on Steam does hold a certain value...the game has to be cheap to be worth it, but if it's just 2 bucks I'd heavily consider it

Is it in Tebonics tho?

Yep, I know.

I would've bought NWN2: Complete - but every time it went on sale, I missed out. I was away from the PC. I been wanting to play Mysteries expansion for a while.

My problem w/ NWN1: Diamond - it's missing all the Premium Mods released AFTER Witch's Wake Remake. Those Premium Mods missing would be Pirates of the Sword Coast; Infinite Dungeons; and Wyvern Crown of Cormyr. We can blame Atari, BioWare, Hasbro for never coming to a deal to work out distribution on those mods - and b/c lawsuits were flying b/t the 3.

I could've took BG1: Complete on GOG b/c I was around my PC, when it went on sale during the Insomnia Sale. I just - don't see myself playing it, ASAP. I got a bunch of OLD games on GOG - and I, pretty much, ain't touched ANY of them! And if I did - it wasn't MUCH that I did touch.

And I also have the funny feeling - I'd end up buying BG1 for a THIRD time, since there's now ALSO the BG1: Enhanced Edition out there.

EDIT:

I know this (about Platinum making this MGS action game).

But, maybe if Platinum's game does well sale-wises, maybe Konami will look at it and decide - "Hmmm...games sell well on Steam - maybe the rest of the MGS games should go to the PC?"

I'd love to see more old & recent Konami developed and published games on the PC, honestly - from MGS games to some of the SH games not on the PC.

We all know my thoughts on getting a PC version of Bayonetta, since I've expressed it numerous times - I'd really like to see that. :D

I didn't like the Rising demo on PS3 but I love MGS so I would give this game a second chance... for the right price. If only Raiden didn't have a grandma's hairstyle in the game. WTF?

Hopefully some people buy that shitty Castlevania game on steam then

These dummies at Ubisoft built a social element into AC4 single player, and it has never worked. One month after release and still nothing, sucks. It's the kind of thing that will be pointless once you finish the game, so it doesn't even matter if they fix it now. I'm just wrapping up the game. Oh yeah and they're required for 100% synchronization.

Occulus Rift or some Valve-made "virtual reality" gadget.

Shoot, sorry to go off topic but believe it or not I can't get an answer to this on IGN Playstation forums.

Does anyone own the PS3 Blu-ray remote 2.0 and can answer this question? Can you use it to affect the internal volume setting in the PS3 during playback of videos and blu-ray/dvd, or is it only capable of changing your TV's volume?

I'm blaming you if neither of those is true.
Don't worry, I'm sure Fox will be willing to come to you house to stand behind your couch and shake you when there's an explosion in the game you're playing on your Steam machine or punch you when you get hit in-game or touch you when - OK, I'll stop here.
