This thread has been replaced by TSDT v11

Daily Deal:
Please check the Steam homepage.

Weeklong Deals:
Steam usually has week-long deals that change on Mondays at 6PM UTC. They mostly feature indie games, and may not run every week.

Sale summary lists:

Key:
⤷ indicates DLC, — specifies part of a pack, + shows alternative versions, ⚠ highlights things worth knowing, ♫ is obvious, and ... denotes a multi-pack.

Holiday Sale 2013 | 19/12/13 through 3/1/14:
Days 1-3, 4-6, 7-9, 10-12, 13-14.

Spring/Autumn Sale 2013 | 27/11/13 through 3/12/13:
All days.

Steam deals on other stores: (Related threads on CAG.)

Indie* bundle threads: (*Not always indie, nor always a bundle.)

Free stuff:
There are quite a few free games (mostly Free to Play) and mods available via the Steam platform, a comprehensive list of which can be found in this thread on the SPUF.
(NOTE: free games are not permanently attached to your Steam account like actual purchases would be. You'll need to manually download a game again from the website if you uninstall it.)

Nice mouse, that. I'm using the G400, and I quite like it, though every once in awhile I look wistfully at the MS Intellimouse Explorer 3.0 sitting on the shelf behind me.
^_^ Technically I'm still using my venerable MX510 (succeeded by MX518, G400, G400s), but they all have the same shell, with improvements to the sensor. I'm amazed this mouse is in such good shape after 10 years (and more WoW than I care to state.) I also appreciate that it isn't gaudy gam3rm0use style.

10 years.. how has that not died already. The left/right click buttons should have a limited amount of clicks before they go out.

Yes, I am a gamer girl. I have large breasts and my favorite game is The Legend of Mario.
Too bad, I prefer small breasts. No view for you.

It has it's solid following. Mice are pretty personal, do you like it?
e.g. I really prefer lightweight mice (thus usually corded).
I agree with this. I think the G400 and G500 are 2 of the best Logitech mice. I prefer wireless.. G700/G700s is one of, if not the best wireless mouse.

How dare you jerks tarnish the beloved corndog with your juvenile innuendo.  Anything that gets battered and deep fried deserves the utmost respect.

In other news, I finally cleared the two Portal games out of the backlog.  Probably should have gotten around to them a bit sooner.  Might have to try these Half Life games next.  Valve should try making more games.

but if they release games more frequently people might realize how overrated they are they won't be as high quality

as much as i like valve they aren't as perfect as everybody and their moms think

i'll be locking my doors and booby trapping my house in case anybody comes to attempt to murder me tonight

You're leaving yourself wide open for a Portal-gun attack.

Prior to playing the Portals, the only Valve titles I had played for more than a handful of minutes were the two Team Fortress games, and frankly neither of those are anything that would put them up on some überpedestal.

Heck, I had only used Steam as a TF2 platform prior to New Vegas forcing me to actually view it as a client.

fucking Bethesda man...last game I preordered a physical copy of. Went to the midnight release, came home and had to wait 3 hours for the game to unlock on Valve time. Took me a while before I was willing to discuss Steam without using flowery language.

Okay, I no longer want to play any more Valve titles. Thanks for the therapy, internet!

yeah i don't care about the box really

i want the controller though soooooo bad. the less kb+m i have to use, the better (i don't game at a desk, but w/my comp hooked into my tv in my room...i have a little keyboard lap thing to make it usable/comfier but da controllerz where itz at)

dam dood...i think valve's overrated, but some of their titles are still essentials (hl2 + both portals are basically must plays...although still a bit overhyped)

i don't now how you made it all the way to 2013 having only played a few minutes of tf2 out of their catalog

I do like it, but I'm not sure what there is to not like. I don't use it for gaming and that would probably lead me to be more picky about mice. I took all the weights out of it and I prefer it that way. I couldn't live without the side forward/backward thumb buttons, use those all the time.

yup, i don't even own a computer monitor. need that controller but maaaan it's so ugly. the whoopi goldberg of controllers.

I'm not sure either... well back in '99/2000 I picked up an early optical mouse that looked great, had thumb buttons on both sides, but the whole thing was like a hilltop with sloped slides, it was difficult to pick it up (more mousing) until I added a rubber ring around it. Logitech mice have a solid reputation, but some (Razor comes to mind) have a reputation of only lasting a couple years.

If anyone's curious, that's a GTX 780 + i5 4570 in his Steam machine. How do I know this? I'm in the private Steam community group he's in ;)

I often don't try to buy games for or around release for numerous BS reasons.

Here they are....

Tons of users online trying to activate game can cause problems on release-day and/or week; tons of user hogging up bandwidth on release-day/week; if the game is a MP game, who knows how well the MP will run; version 1.0 sometimes still looks and feels like an incomplete game; version 1.0 might still feel like Alpha in a box or Beta in a box; game likely will have tons of DLC's (especially if dev's or pub's are KNOWN for this); chances of quick price-drops on the game w/in a short period of time could be possible (depending on sales of the game, reviews on the game, etc); the inevitability or certain companies later releasing a Re-Release Edition w/ everything (Base Game + All Expansions + All Season Passes + All DLC's); and other crummy things you can think of.

Let's face it - as consumers, pre-ordering or buying the day/week of release these days ain't really very friendly to the game-consumer; especially the gamer who likes to buy tons of games (like myself). B/c of this, we have to turn really into becoming a CAG!

EDIT:

About physical copies on games requiring Steamworks - you're buying the disc so you don't have to download a great deal of the game and so you have a physical copy in your hand. This is especially true if the game's huge in size (think like say RAGE, which is around 20+ GB); if you don't have a fast connection; and/or if you like having a physical copy.

Ya, I would never pre-order an online dependent game. They're almost always a mess for the first week or two...for example the Final Fantasy MMO that just released or GTA online. Both of those were terrrrrrible for a lil bit.

I'm actually more curious what brand they used for the cards? MSI/Gigabyte/EVGA or the somewhat ickier ones.

For New Vegas, I wanted the Collector's Edition. It still sits, gathering dust, next to my computer as a reminder to never do that again.

Of course, that will probably change when Fallout 4 is released...in 6 years.

Yeah, I hear that. Though I'm cheap enough that I'd jump on a sale for some gaudy-themed shell if it was cheap enough.

Not even close to over-hyped. Not because of a lack of hype, but because they completely live up to it.

I'm not sure either... well back in '99/2000 I picked up an early optical mouse that looked great, had thumb buttons on both sides, but the whole thing was like a hilltop with sloped slides, it was difficult to pick it up (more mousing) until I added a rubber ring around it. That aforementioned Intellimouse Explorer only gave me 2 or so years before it started double clicking on me. And that was my second one of those to give out, with a wireless MS Intellimouse in between that did the same thing. Supposedly there is a way to clean the internal contacts to fix that, and I keep telling myself that I'm going to try to do that someday.

Great point on the mouse... the thought that one wouldn't have a nice mouse escaped me. You don't need anything too pricey. Everyone has their own preference; mine is the Logitech G400s.
In my opinion, The G400s and Razer Deathadder 2013 are currently two of the best gaming mouse mice. For some reason, Razer mice have a high rate of failure after the warranty period ended, Logitech mice seem to be better in terms of their build quality. My old G400 is still serving me well and I can't find any fault with it except that the first batch had angle snapping but it was later removed in the new batch.

I think a good mouse deserves a good mouse pad, the Artisan Hayate mouse pad are very good quality and I highly recommend them for anyone looking for a good mouse pad.

With all the current pirate games talk I searched the Steam thread and founds this. Guess I missed it the first time around (or more likely forgot that I saw it) so thanks for the info and link. I love me some pirate games!
Pixel Piracy just got released on steam a few days ago but it is still an early access game.

Apparently someone got their Steam Machine today (not me). How is this 35lbs?!

Very cool packaging, Steam Machine in a ammunition box and looks like it is ready to blow!

Nice mouse, that. I'm using the G400, and I quite like it, though every once in awhile I look wistfully at the MS Intellimouse Explorer 3.0 sitting on the shelf behind me.
I miss the good old days when I let my fingers do the walking.
