Fantasy Football "Who Should I Start" Thread, 2013

Very unsure of who to play as my RB2 and FLEX in my big league....

It's Point per rush attempt, PPR, 1 point per 5 yards rushing/receiving. Huge bonus at 100 and 150 yards.

I need to start 2...

Frank Gore(@TB)
Toby Gerhert(PHI)
Donald Brown(HOU)
Chris Ogbonnaya(CHI) McGahee is out.

So in this weird scoring system I'm looking for work horses with lots of carries and best chance at 100 yards.

Well should I start Morris over Bernard against GB or Murray against PT this week?
Already used Woodhead at flex and it was a poor choice

I'm only in one league but it's $150 buy in. Second round gets you your money back. Championship game is either winner take all or a agreed division of the remaining money. Usually 800 winner 400 to loser.

Ellington or Mendenhal?
I have Mendenhall as my Flex this week since Shorts is now out. Mendenhall will get the goal line carries if there are any but Ellington is healtyhy and the more explosive player.

Ok need some advice:

Flex:

Medenhall

Wright-(Bad Matchup)

Ivory-(Bad Matchup plus I am playing Carolina defense this week)

or I could pick up

Patterson

Todman

Or whoever is going to play for the Vikings at RB today.

Kicker:

Akers or Feely

QB:

Stafford or Wilson

At this point Ivory is hard not to start no matter the matchup.

OK, here is my dilemma... I can start 3 of these guys (1WR, 1RB and 1 WR/RB).

  • Colston (@STL)
  • Vereen (@MIA)
  • Bernard (@PIT)
  • Tate (@IND)
  • Hilton (v.HOU)
  • Nicks (v.SEA)
I'm leaning towards Colston, Vereen and either Tate or Bernard.  I'm pretty set on Vereen since he may be Brady's only option at this point.  Colston in a dome looks nice too even though I have Jimmy Graham starting as well.

ANY ADVICE IS APPRECIATED!  I was supposed to crush my opponent this week and now it is looking like a toss-up.  My team is way better than his and I'm the #1 seed.  I'll be so disappointed if I lose.

Got two spots in my big money league I'm trying to figure out this week.

RB - Andre Brown or Zac Stacy (also have the Buffalo Bills duo, but hard to trust either one right now).

Brown has been fairly beast these past couple weeks, but does get the Seahawks defense. Stacy gets the Saints, and I think the main concern there is if they fall behind too much and they don't run the ball much. Although Stacy is no stranger to the passing game.

WR - Alshon Jeffery or DeSean Jackson. (Also have Dez Bryant in my other slot)

Was really hoping McCown was going to be leading the offense this weekend as I feel he does at least spread the ball more to Jeffery as opposed to Cutler. Throw in the fact there Joe Haden licking his chops. He could cover Marshall leaving the door open for Jeffery, but if Haden covers my guy, I have the worst luck against him.

DeSean Jackson is tempting for two reasons. I'm starting Nick Foles and the Vikings have no defense. The double whammy potential is alluring, but there is a slight concern. My opponent has Riley Cooper and my guess is he'll be starting him. If everything goes to Cooper as opposed to Jackson, it's a double burn for me. Granted, the opposite is true as well.

The third option is to bench Bryant and start both. Bryant always has that potential, but has struggled the past couple weeks.
Any takers?

10 minutes to go! Help!

You know how when you're down by like 48 points and you have one guy left to play, and you go "Oh, well maybe he'll put up 50."

Jamaal Charles is that guy today.

Well for next week I should be playing for the championship do I started Foles who has to play Chicago or pick up Cutler who is playing the Eagles? Both QBs could do well

Ryan will be benched on my team for the rest of the season...

Freaking Jamaal Charles is making me sweat my matchup in the Non-PPR league with my dad. Up 11 currently and he has Antonio Brown while I still have Justin Tucker. Could easily go either way, but wondering if you all like my chances. Might make me feel a little easier.

If only I went upstairs two minutes earlier as I had a last minute thought to put DeSean Jackson in over Alshon Jeffery.

At least in my other league I was able to benefit from Jamaal Charles. Up 50 with AJ Green left for me tonight. Worst comes to worst, that league will be responsible for me winning $100.

I tied my game today but I'm the lower seed so unless there's some stat corrections I lose. I decided not to start v jax which would have won me the game. Damn

Had an interesting development in the non-PPR league. While Antonio Brown was credit in the stat line for his punt return for a touchdown, it didn't show up in the points. The commish emailed Fantrax so the ruling is to be determined for my matchup.

Thankfully, Antonio Brown was pretty much shut down in the second half, and provided his touchdown counts, I'll be down seven with Justin Tucker left to go. Here's hoping the touchdown doesn't count, but my odds seem decent regardless.

Besides, my dad always loses in the round right before the money, so destiny is on my side.

If I do happen to lose though, it does suck. Aside from being two minutes late to put in Jackson over Jeffery, we had the two highest scores for the week, scoring 20-30 points more than the 3rd highest team this week.

After some snooping, it came to light that our league manager was changing his lineup throughout the season after games have started. We caught him this week switching out Greg Olsen for Greg Jennings well into the third quarter of the Vikings game. Besides from confronting him, what do we do? He made the playoffs but after examining the earlier times he has done it, he cost another player a spot in the playoffs. Do we kick him out and allow his opponent this week into the next round? Do we nullify the entire season and give everyone a refund?

Either of those are acceptable. Additionally, he needs to be booted from the league.

Well Jamaal Charles and Nick Foles put me in the championship game next week. They scored 88 combined, and my opponent has 73 right now. He has 2 tonight, Megatron and Stafford, but he needs over 100 out of those 2 to get in.

God dammit.  I hate fantasy sports.  My awesome team completely shit the bed at the worst possible moment.  Manning, Graham and McCoy didn't do anything and I'm done unless Tucker can score 17 points tonight (not gonna happen).  I outscored my opponent by 300+ points this season and I'm going to lose because I'm 40 points below my weekly average (and down by 16.5 right now).  God damn Nick Foles - it is infuriating.

Welcome to fantasy football. :) I'm up 40 on my opponent, the only person left to go on their team is Stafford, so I feel relatively safe.

This is the third time in the last 4 years I've finished in first place and not won. The other time I finished 4th and won the whole thing. I hate it so so so much but I can't stop playing.

Agreed, definitely kick him out of the league.

I lost my Yahoo league last week. Just barely made the playoffs anyways and my team wan't really good anyways. Too many duds and injuries.

In my big money league, there is no playoffs, just highest overall point total wins. I was 29 points out of first before this week and I currently have the third highest points this week. First and Second place pays out so it looks like I at least have a shot. K. Allen and J. Gordon have been beasts for me.

I don't know if your league gives bonus points for over 50 yards, but Tucker has 5 field goals, one 50+ as we speak with 8 minutes to go.

As for myself, only needed 7, so I'm in and get $90 worst case scenario (if I lose the next two weeks for 4th). Plus, eliminated my dad as well after his smack talk of him destroying me in the regular season and him being the number one seed (compared to me being #13). Funny how he always gets to the round before the money and always tends to lose. I'm looking to win my second time out of five years being in this league, so not bad for me.

FFB Championship bound! Payout for 1st is $200 and 2nd is $100. Buy-in was $50 and there are lots of other small payouts for division winners, etc.

Get ready for this one...

I was up about 8 points after the Ravens picked that last ball off. Game over. But then Ray Rice breaks that long run. If he didn't go down and ran to the endzone instead, I would have lost. My heart almost stopped...

Yup. Refund everyone and void this season and kick him out. I know it's only a fantasy sports league and in the grand scheme of life minimal, but that's basically the highest crime you can commit.

Unless those three things happened I would just leave the league. Costing one team a playoff spot changes the whole playoff landscape. Everyone should be refunded and he should be shamed heavily.

Honestly, do not back down on this.

I agree 100% - I can't believe someone would even do this to their friends. He has to go.

El-oh-El

That's why you wait for the games to be played.
I can't believe it. My email was going bananas last night with everyone in the league in disbelief that I pulled it out. I was working so I didn't get to see the game, unfortunately. He ended up with 23 points so I won by 5. I'm in shock - it is definitely the craziest comeback our league has ever seen for a playoff game. It came down to the kicker on a Monday night! Now I really want to win the whole thing.

I was down about 30 point after my opponent benefit from the Tony Romo-Dez Bryant score fest on Sunday. Anyway, I still had Calvin Johnson and Justin Tucker left to play.

I knew it was gonna be close but I had no idea Tucker would be the 23 pointer and Johnson would be 13. I ended up winning by about 4 points because of Baltimore's game winning field goal which was worth 5 points. Talk about being on the edge of my seat though...

Justin Tucker.

I Love This Man.

I'm currently in first place now because of him, its gonna come down to the wire though. Second place is 2 points behind me and third is only 3....

So, out of this mess I need 2 running backs and a flex:

Andre Brown

Woodhead

Montee Ball

Ellington

Marcel Reece

Stevan Ridley

Nicks

Marvin Jones

Boykin

Cobb (slight chance he will play)

As of now, I am going Woodhead, Ball, and Nicks.

Woodhead is almost a given. He's been up and down lately, but the Raiders have been destroyed by pass catching backs, with Charles going completely off. Woodhead won't score 5 TDs, but I can definitely seeing him going over 15 points between catches and yards alone.

I like Ball's match-up (Houston stinks), and they have been giving him more and more touches, in order to rest Moreno a bit for the playoffs. He's gone over double digits in 3 out of his last 5 games.

Nicks is a speculation play at this point. The team I am playing has way more talent, and I need to take a risk. If Cruz doesn't play, and Nicks finally decides to give some effort, he could do well.

As I said, I don't have to play him. It's a speculation play. But I need a potential game-changer. I don't think the 5-10 points the other guys will likely get me is enough. Nicks could put up 2 points...but there is also the outside chance he could potentially have a great game.

The worst part is it is a work league. You have to see these people day in and day out. We confronted him about the charges and he is adamantly denying it. He claims if it happened, it was an accident. Five times. Yeah, bullshit. They are deciding on a punishment ranging from complete banishment and refunds to letting this season finish out (which I don't fully agree with since we have a skewed playoff picture), costing him his keepers, his draft order for next year. Granted, he would not be the league Manager next so he couldn't cheat. I feel a complete wash of the season and banning him however is the only just punishment.

Well, good luck to whoever still in the race. I was 10 points from getting to the championship game. It's only fitting that I lose with my first and second round pick; A. Morris and C.J. Spiller. I haven't started them together and not Spiller at all, since week 5 or 6 and yet I had to no choice this week. If A. Luck doesn't throw a pick + A. Morris not fumble twice (first time in his career too) + 4 points from any player or combo of players and I win. But you know what, that's not the craziest part for me. The craziest part was seeing that J. Gordon was putting up a zero after a whole quarter(or more I think) of the game played. I'm thinking he's got injured/concussion or something at this point. I click on the breaking news icon next to his name and what do I read? J. Gordon was in a minor car accident on Saturday. OMFG!!! lol. Truth, right there and then the feeling of over settle right on my stomach.
