There are quite a few free games (mostly Free to Play) and mods available via the Steam platform, a comprehensive list of which can be found in this thread on the SPUF.
(NOTE: free games are not permanently attached to your Steam account like actual purchases would be. You'll need to manually download a game again from the website if you uninstall it.)

The APB code they send is for in-game redemption for some DLC pack I guess.

Prime World is F2P. Prime World Defenders is (I hear) actually really cool though at times "grindy" and has a historical low price of $3.40.

The premium pack in the bundle for APB Reloaded contains:

  • 15 days of Premium membership for APB
  • 10 day leases of ATAC 424 'Bodyguard' (Assault Rifle)
  • 10 day leases of N-HVR 243 Scout PR2 (Sniper Rifle)
  • 10 day leases of OCA-626 'Whisper' PR2 (SMG)
  • 10 day leases of Colby CSG-20 PR2 (Shotgun)

APB is F2P but what you get here is 15 days of Premium which is a $5 value.  It's not a bad game.  I played some back when Amazon was giving out free premium codes with purchase.

Also, I think it's cute how we like to complain even though most of us are going to throw all of these in our backlogs...lol...

Fuuuuuuuuuuck, I just bought PWD not two weeks ago :\ I guess this time I took one for the team

Oh, and it is very grindy. Starts off kinda fun as a tower defense game, but even as a tower defense genre geek, I gave up on it.

 
Just a random statement after days of watching deals:

I need to stop stressing over not getting the best possible deal EVERY time I see a new better deal. I the long run, I still always get a much better value than if I were to buy day of release, or for 50% off. I'm sweating a couple bucks most of the time. Sure, I could have waited for a better deal, and probably would've gotten one, but who knows? Maybe the deal I got is going to be the best one in a long time to come.

It's going to be a crapshoot.

Also, I need to stop buying games unless it's something I've REALLY wanted. My pile of shame is getting ridiculous :(
 
I may end up getting this bundle, but be aware that Arena Wars 2 is apparently broken and there's no dev in sight. All this, of course, is from the feedback left in the SPUF discussion forum for the game.

With so many bundles around, I feel that I should start calling myself cheapass game collector instead of cheapass gamer.

So long as it still stacks it's useful for me. I'd rather have my Ubi games through solely uplay, and there are some old assassin's creed games I've been eyeing.

Final Exam is $2.50 at uplay right now. Was thinking about getting it if it was Steamworks.

I know they handed out beta/trial keys on their website a while back but not 100% sure if it's Steamworks.  Seems like most of Focus Home stuff is, though.

So even on the devs website you get a Steam key so I'm thinking Final Exam is Steamworks.

That said, Uplay doesn't carry the 4 Pack.  Amazon and Steam do so I'm willing to wait for 75% off on that and pay $.1.87 instead of $2.50 because the internet.

Looking for recommendations for *local* multiplayer/coop games that I can pick up in the Winter sale to play with my kids. Pre-teen girls so nothing too violent (though they're not squeamish), and no Barbie-style crap either.
 
Does Steam look like absolute junk for anyone else? The website has artifacts and compression on every picture. I don't normally notice things like that but it's really distracting.
