This thread has been replaced by TSDT v11

Daily Deal:
Please check the Steam homepage.

Weeklong Deals:
Steam usually has week-long deals that change on Mondays at 6PM UTC. They mostly feature indie games, and may not run every week.

Sale summary lists:

Key:
⤷ indicates DLC, — specifies part of a pack, + shows alternative versions, ⚠ highlights things worth knowing, ♫ is obvious, and ... denotes a multi-pack.

Holiday Sale 2013 | 19/12/13 through 3/1/14:
Days 1-3, 4-6, 7-9, 10-12, 13-14.

Spring/Autumn Sale 2013 | 27/11/13 through 3/12/13:
All days.

Steam deals on other stores: (Related threads on CAG.)

Indie* bundle threads: (*Not always indie, nor always a bundle.)

Free stuff:
There are quite a few free games (mostly Free to Play) and mods available via the Steam platform, a comprehensive list of which can be found in this thread on the SPUF.
(NOTE: free games are not permanently attached to your Steam account like actual purchases would be. You'll need to manually download a game again from the website if you uninstall it.)

Anyone feeling blue now that winter sale is over? I am doing a small contest to give away a steam copy of Risk of Rain and will let it run for a day.

Just quote this post and answer this question - Make a guess which famous scientist was born on the same day as me?

Those who got the correct answer, I will send you a pm with a link to a private giveaway where the winner will be randomly picked. Please do not share the link so that it is only fair to those who got it correct. Good luck.

Notes:

  • You can have up to 3 choices for your answers.
  • You can change your answers anytime but contest will end at 4th Jan 23:59 PST.

I was going to say Nikola Tesla but I'm going with Isaac Newton. *fingers crossed*

Edit: We get 3 guesses?

1st: Isaac Newton

2nd: Sigmund Freud

3rd: Galileo Galilei

I surely am, especially considering what a weak lineup of sales it had. I got Sang-Froid for a good price and had fun trading up those snow globe cards for profit but otherwise bleh.

Neils Bohr, born October 7, 1885.

I'm gonna say Nikola Tesla, for no other reason than he's the first thing that popped into my head.
He said famous. No one remembers Tesla. That being a horrendous tragedy. I've been a fan of his work since I was a kid. I did a report on him in grade school and loved every minute of the research. The man was so far ahead of his time even now he would be considered ahead of his time.

Are you serious? He has his own Pinball Fx2 table. EVERYBODY REMEMBERS TESLA

Fine, I'll edit two of my choices, too.

No one remembers Tesla?!?! I'd say he's definitely one of a handful that immediately come to people's minds when they discuss scientists. Certainly gamers for sure because of Tesla guns!

I'll go with Stephen Hawking, Bill Nye, and Einstein.

…Well? I'd love if you elaborated a bit :)

I really hope Amazon lets us get it for $5. It'll give me a reason to hope for the season pass glitch next steam sale!
*twitch*

Sorry to remind you of your bad memories, I was trying to highlight that Subway is the lesser of the two evils. I don't eat a lot of fast food myself, I would very much prefer home cooked meals.
^_^

Why is this Samual Adams Cherry Wheat & Blackberry Witbier so damn tasty?
Because you haven't had bier as cold and dark as my soul.

Man I really want Civ V BNW for $5, Wait. Wait. Wait.
$3.15 or gtfo ;)

As far as I am aware, California doesn't charge tax on purely digital goods.
True so far. I briefly got charged tax on Amazon DVG after the Amazon Tax hit Kali, but not since. I don't pay tax on steam. I haven't bought anything from Amazon in 2014 though.

Jalapenos and red wine vinegar (no oil) and you're all set for flavor. Or as much as you get without any unhealthy condiments anyway.
^_^ Wise. Someone who appreciates the value of vinegar and hot.

I personally go for jalapenos, black olives and honey mustard. The mayo they use is gross.
Honey Mustard is gross. Mayo varies considerably... usually terrible. Homemade or Best Foods.

I filled my 2TB in exactly one year. And that was Steam only. I now have non-Steam on a 2TB and Steam on a 4TB...for now.
I've been trying to stick with my 2TB steam drive...

arby's is the blandest tasting fast food restaurant there is

their reuben sandwich is good, though
They got driven out of town... stands empty now. Really? I haven't had a decent Reuben since Chicago.

  • Issac Newton

I'm contemplating changing my Einstein answer to Dr. Emmett Lathrop "Doc" Brown, Ph.D. or Frankenstein (The DR mad scientist not the monster he created)

Decisions Decisions... Fictitious or real scientists?

I thought it was a pretty good winter sale across the board. I got quite a bit of stuff I wanted from various sources for prices I was comfortable with. Anyway, it is a bit depressing to not have flash sales to check every 8 hours and the big changeover at noon. :D

I didn't quote it in the first place, so I'll quote it now. My answers are Newton, Einstein, and Bill Nye.

Talk about blending into the crowd

Yeah, but I used logic and mathematics to arrive at my answer, just like any of the three possible answers would have wanted.

Or am I just not wearing my suit?
was einstein really a scientist though? didnt him and his brother just make some bagel shop?

Don't know if the game is still on, but...

I'm just putting it out there that a year or so ago I decided to get serious about my health, lost 60lbs or so, and oatmeal is now my favorite food.

Take from that what you will.
Instant or the other kind?

I don't want to be controversial.

But condiments are disgusting.

Except for ketchup on fried/breaded fish. I can deal with that.

Everything else. fuck condiments.

And if you eat ranch dressing you might as well be licking an anus.

Maybe the last couple sentences did actually want to be controversial.

But I do actually mean it.
It's CATSUP! Just kidding. For condiments, I am a mustard and sauerkraut man.

I like salsa on almost everything, so who's butt is that akin to eating out of?
Salsa is awesome. When I am out of salsa, Tabasco. Sometimes both.

Not wanting any flavor in your life is probably the polar opposite of controversial. I eat like Jesus, bread and water. Someone tried to put some lemon juice and sugar in my water once and they were swiftly reprimanded. Another person tried to put something called dressing on my salad and received lashing for it. Why would I want to taint the natural, robust taste of lettuce?
Taint? All of your posts are about sex and Jesus! (I don't understand lemon in water.)

That game is awesome. Since I already have it, I will guess Hubert Farnsworth.

Dr. Bunsen Honeydew

Professor Hubert J. Farnsworth

Doctor Algernop Krieger
. . . Fine, Dr. Stanley Goodspeed from The Rock. He was some sort of scientist according to the Wikipedia list of fictional scientists.
