This thread has been replaced by TSDT v11

Daily Deal:
Please check the Steam homepage.

Weeklong Deals:
Steam usually has week-long deals that change on Mondays at 6PM UTC. They mostly feature indie games, and may not run every week.

Sale summary lists:

Key:
⤷ indicates DLC, — specifies part of a pack, + shows alternative versions, ⚠ highlights things worth knowing, ♫ is obvious, and ... denotes a multi-pack.

Holiday Sale 2013 | 19/12/13 through 3/1/14:
Days 1-3, 4-6, 7-9, 10-12, 13-14.

Spring/Autumn Sale 2013 | 27/11/13 through 3/12/13:
All days.

Steam deals on other stores: (Related threads on CAG.)

Indie* bundle threads: (*Not always indie, nor always a bundle.)

Free stuff:
There are quite a few free games (mostly Free to Play) and mods available via the Steam platform, a comprehensive list of which can be found in this thread on the SPUF.
(NOTE: free games are not permanently attached to your Steam account like actual purchases would be. You'll need to manually download a game again from the website if you uninstall it.)

I actually live in Sweden. I am British though and have a British bank account. Steam absolutely loathe that as they won't let people check out in a country which is different to where their card is registered. I had to lie a little about the registration country of my card. However, I can't check out in £ through the Steam software. Everything is in euros. I then get charged in Euros and my bank likes to add a couple of extra £ for the service of converting it over when they take the money out of my account. Means I have I have been avoiding Steam like the plague. I have used it for some stuff though (when there was just crazy deals!). Much of what I bought has been through getting in touch with people here, eBay (bought Bioshock 1 + 2 for £1.00 there as a bundle), HumbeBundle, Bundle Stars, GMG and a few other places.
Buying through PayPal is an option on Steam, I use it occasionally when I'm doing some regional pricing deals for people. Speaking of which, I think you've missed the best way to save money.

...

Have you met JakeNome?

Jake is my buddy. and he should be everybody's buddy. :)

Honestly, I cannot recommend him enough... During the big sales it can be hard to do flash sales through him but dailys/weeklys/weekend/etc he's your man. :)

Edit: Here's a link to his main thread (link) but you'll see him posting near daily in the steam trading thread. (Link if you need it.)

Buying through PayPal still 'rejects' your payment if you are in a different location from where your PayPal account was registered :(

Sorted it now though :) Going to get them to turn the account into £

Actually, I'm sort of annoyed with you for doing so also... He's got better things to do in the middle of a large sale (or any other day for that matter) than quote you the same price twice. Its not going to change. (and its always over a handful of cents. Which is just so pointless. Honestly, I think your lucky to not be on his ignore list. )

Kruzegor is awesome too! I just get hit with a paypal fee with him so I rarely do sales with him... I do buy from his current inventory at times. I got all the Tomb Raiders for a buck a piece a few months back.

Edit: Whose your new avatar of btw...? I don't recognize her.

There are several other guys on duty if you can't get in touch with Jake. I've done deals with most of em by now, but Jake will always be my first.

That's a man, baby!

Any CAG here has an Oculus Rift?

If you own an Oculus Rift dev kit you can try it out by starting Steam with "-vr" on the command line. Then press the Big Picture button to enter Big Picture + VR mode.

The first time you run you may need to do the following:
1) Run Steam in the desktop client without the -vr option
2) Find "SteamVR" under "Tools" in your library and install it.
3) Bring up properties on SteamVR and opt-in to the "Beta Update" beta. Let the update download.
4) Quit the Steam Client again and start it with -vr

Wow... while looking into reviews of Puzzle Quest and Trying to figure if I should give in to peer pressure, I discovered:

Bioshock Infinite is Free on PS+ Today... which really has me wondering... where's $5 BSI?

Humble 2K Bundle, you mean?  Anyway, for $1 Puzzle Quest is a no brainer unless you hate match 3 games.  The RPG 'framework' offers a LOT of 'content' (think it took me like 20+ hours to finish).  Overall I prefer PQ2's style because it's a bit less grindy (although less content/stuff to do) and more focused on the fights.

I've been having some problems setting up VR mode with my Oculus Rift.  I read somewhere that you need to set the Rift as the secondary display and create some shortcuts, so I'll try that again after work.  I find it counter-intuitive since I generally need to set the Rift as my primary display for all other games and applications.

I still prefer PQ on a handheld device. I have put in countless hours into all of them, but when sitting at a computer and trying to play it just feels weird. If this is the only platform that you can get it on then by all means get it, but I would much rather play this on a DS than a computer.

Hahaha, I already own it... it took me a minute to puzzle out how (since it wasn't showing up in my account history).

I'm surprised the reviews over PQ: Galactrix are so torn, thoughts?

I can see that... looks like to sort of thing that works well on mobile.

Whoever pointed me in the direction of that steam trade threat....I loathe you. Was meant to cut back on game buying but already got in touch with a variety of people to spend over $150 :( working harder now

Galactrix takes away a lot of the strategy in planning moves and relies much more on luck. Get it if you absolutely love PQ enough to play the worst game of the series, pass otherwise.

Lol! You should take counseling for that..

Leave CAG. Run far far away... while you still can. CAG is something of a leper colony, stick around and you'll become one of us, one of us.

If you contact steam support, telling them that your outside of your country due to some reason (ei. work/school etc) they will unlock your account to let you buy in steam. That's what I did as Im currently residing in Dubai and my CC is from my home country.
I'm not sure if this will work for either of you but I live in the US and have a US steam account. When I travel, of course, I can't buy from the client or web page without currency issues but the Steam app on my iPhone let's me buy in my native currency without any issues.

You have to ask steam support so that they will unlock your account and you can buy using the web browser (ie: http://store.steampowered.com/?cc=us ). I can also buy using my mobile but I feel safer using firefox etc.

Eh, I got it anyway. It's $1. And not even a real dollar a fake Gabe dollar. I've never seen any PQ games in a bundle and as others have mentioned Galactrix NEVER gets a decent sale.

These friggin bastards EA, they scatter DLC cars throughout Most Wanted the same way regular cars are placed, when you drive up to them instead of "switch to car" it says "go to store"... you can't tell it's a DLC car til you go up to it. Then it leaves a permanent DLC icon on your map for each of those cars. And then they mix DLC races and challenges into your available races list along with the regular ones. Unforgivable... it almost makes me want to buy the DLC just to get around the annoyance but knowing the DLC for that game doesn't even work most of the time...

But it's a cool game otherwise, I've been enjoying it! Leveled up almost all the enhancements for the Gallardo, wish it wasn't a convertible but it's still a great car.

EA is the worst. Sorry that this post isn't Steam related but it's game related and better than talking about spanking and diapers.

I was undecided but won it on Steamgifts yesterday so I fired it up. So far, I'm liking it. Comments on the deal's reddit thread suggest that there are some annoyances that are best handled with a couple of mods. Not sure if I'll go that route or not.

Ocean City Racing is one of the worst "racing" games I've played in the last couple years.  It's like it was designed by people who have no appreciation of racing games.
