This thread has been replaced by TSDT v11

Daily Deal:
Please check the Steam homepage.

Weeklong Deals:
Steam usually has week-long deals that change on Mondays at 6PM UTC. They mostly feature indie games, and may not run every week.

Sale summary lists:

Key:
⤷ indicates DLC, — specifies part of a pack, + shows alternative versions, ⚠ highlights things worth knowing, ♫ is obvious, and ... denotes a multi-pack.

Holiday Sale 2013 | 19/12/13 through 3/1/14:
Days 1-3, 4-6, 7-9, 10-12, 13-14.

Spring/Autumn Sale 2013 | 27/11/13 through 3/12/13:
All days.

Steam deals on other stores: (Related threads on CAG.)

Indie* bundle threads: (*Not always indie, nor always a bundle.)

Free stuff:
There are quite a few free games (mostly Free to Play) and mods available via the Steam platform, a comprehensive list of which can be found in this thread on the SPUF.
(NOTE: free games are not permanently attached to your Steam account like actual purchases would be. You'll need to manually download a game again from the website if you uninstall it.)

Finally, a bundle game I'm specifically glad to have on steam. (I know it's supposedly an okay/middling arena combat game.)
Unless I'm misunderstanding what you mean by "arena combat game" (to me that sounds like Fairy Bloom Freesia), I don't think it's actually like that. It looks more like a typical 2v2 fighting game, somewhat in the vein of Skull Girls (there's even an optional DLC that uncensored certain naughty bits).

Didn't this get added to Steam like a billion years ago? I feel like I've been waiting for a Steam key on this one for months.
It got greenlit and took forever to get to the store. In related news, Diehard Dungeon release got delayed a couple days. I enjoy and recommend both titles.

I find it weird that I'm really excited about this South Park game but haven't watched the show in years... the game looks so awesome though.

So is this what SteamDB was on about a few days ago? I was hoping for a humble… maybe it'll still happen tomorrow.

And if it does…gotta sucker in those few last-minute buyers, right? Good ol' EA!
oh yes who the sacrficial person now neuro do ur sacrficie and also i can buy emergency 2014 hehe stupid thingy mjob and domanisn 3 is on sale euro truck sim 2 is on shit sale. think most of it is weeklong sale not random ea nope it weklong seciton

Well no blacksoul or Vanguard for me.

These cheap non-steam games keep biting me in the ass when they finally come to steam and give keys out. I need to pay more attention to bonus' and DRM free games in bundles.

You're right I got my wires crossed with クロワルール.

So, I've betrayed the Steam religion and apparently upset the Allfather Gaben...

I purchased the Mass Effect Trilogy from Amazon last week and recovered an EA account long forgotten. After installing Origin and inputting the code, I continually get a popup message of "There's an issue with your account; it can't be logged in to more than one computer at once. You're now in offline mode" (paraphrase). 3 game downloads that should've taken 3-5 hours took almost 2 days because of the constant popup.

Does anyone else that uses Origin get this message?

On top of that, once they finally finished downloading, I tried to install Mass Effect, and I get a DirectX error: "There was an internal error. Installation failed."  However, I found a solution to that today.

I'm sorry Gaben.

I'm interested in playing one of the following games on Steam... any recommendations?

The Banner Saga

Borderlands 2 DLC (particularly Tina's RPG dlc)

Castlevania: Lords of Shadow

Kentucky Route Zero

Lego Marvel Super Heroes

Metro 2033
I assume you've completed the main BL2 game? If so, go directly to Tiny TIna and carry on with your assault.

Origin downloads WAY faster than steam for me..... like 10x faster,,,,,

Monday morning discussion point: is Max Payne 3 actually worth playing?

I played a level and a half of it over the weekend and I was just bored by it. I'm sure diving around and doing that bullet-time trick was fun some time ago, but is that it? It has me working as a bodyguard for people I'd rather see dead, there's lens flare/fancy camera angle stuff going on and it nearly have me a headache.

Oh, and those cutscenes. It's no exaggeration to say that half of my playtime was spent watching cutscenes (w/ aforementioned "special" effects).

I'm tempted to delete it and reclaim that 30g of HD space.

What say ye?
Did you play Max Payne 1 + 2?

You honestly should play those first before you touch MP3.

Honestly - those were groundbreaking shooters and should've been played way back in the day. A lot of games have taken lots of cinematic cues & the Bullet-Time cue from Max.

I loved all of the Max Payne games, BTW.

I love the wit, depression, story, characters, locations, voice-acting, the TV shows from the first two - everything that makes Max what it is.

As a short (unexpectedly long) aside - I've been playing Remember Me (when I'm not in Warframe) a bit the past couple of days. I'm enjoying it a lot so far. I think I am about half-way through. I really enjoy the aesthetic and the way they built the world. Combat could be better, but it isn't bad.

The combo system sounds like it could be really interesting - you basically build your own combo using buttons from different 'button pools' that you unlock. I am playing with a gamepad (which works well in the game) and I can choose what I want a combo to do. If I choose X from one pool it will do more damage, from another it will heal me slightly, from another it will lower the cool-downs on my super moves, etc. Unfortunately, they determine what buttons go where & you have to conform your combo to that. For example: The first "combo" you get is X-X-X, then comes Y-X-Y-X-Y, followed by X-Y-Y-X-Y-Y. You can put whatever "type" of X or Y you want in there, but you can't make your own series of button presses up. I feel like they missed an opportunity here - the game's combat could be made easier or harder based on what the player chose to put where. If someone isn't used to brawlers, but wanted to experience the (very decent) cyberpunk neo-paris storyline they could, while more experienced players could mix it up a bit for more of a challenge. Oh, and I hate the combat music.. like... a lot.

I, also, like the fact that the main character is female - and of mixed race origins. I think this is a good step forward for the gaming community in general. Especially since the mixed-race part isn't even brought up during gameplay (at least so far). I DO have a problem with some of the taunts the bad guys have in one of the levels I've played through so far. Playing as a female character I didn't enjoy hearing "you and I are going to dance all night". I am not naive or anything, but I didn't enjoy the rape-y vibe at the beginning of Tomb Raider 2013 (even though it probably is my GotY for last year) and I don't enjoy it in this game either. I find it to be a very cheap way of eliciting emotion on the part of the player. It is also used way to often with female characters in video games. Funny how the aliens in Halo don't say things like that to Master Chief. I realize it's just a throw-away taunt, but it's is a reminder of the kind of things wrong in the real-world that I play games to get away from(and yes, I realize the fact that many of the games I play are violent, and that this doesn't really jive well with my last statement). I'll just say, if it bothers me as a male in his late 30s I can only imagine it would bother females even more.

Wow, I typed more than I expected there -

tldnr - I like the game, combat mechanics are just ok, story/world building are good.

The game is definitely worth your time if you picked it up (like me) during the winter sale, or if you happen to have gotten it free through PSPlus.
Yeah, I really dug the hell out of Remember Me.

It's definitely one of those games that the gameplay (with more skills + combos) and story gets just better & better as it goes along.

Oh - and I absolutely love the art design in this game.

Damn.,,,, I need to pick this up next time it's cheap. Sounds like another game that got railroaded by the media but was actually good,,,,,,

Yeah, it starts off a little slow w/ the gameplay and story. One of my knocks against the game.

But once it freaking gets going w/ the gameplay and the story actually starts getting REALLY personal - holy crap, it's awesome.

I kinda want a PS3 to play some weeaboo games but the cheap fuck in me can't pull the trigger.....
Well depending on which one you get and a deal you can get on it it would be a great deal. I was quoting you like MSRP pricing.

For $270 you can get the 500GB one with Last of Us and I recommend the extra space for the PS Plus games. For $50 you get PS Plus. So that's $320. Right now on PS Plus you'd get Remember Me and few other games. Over the course of a year you probably end up getting a crapload of games you would usually pay $5 or more for on PC. If you just consider that instead of buying those games for PC you would just play them on PS3 you actually wouldn't really be spending much more (if any) than you probably already will spend this year.

I already have a vita and ps+...... and I've "bought" a bunch of free ps3 stuff through the webstore. I just need to pony up one of these days. I think around E3 they will drop the price again tho, so I can wait.

Sixty in March update:

I beat nine more games:

09: Worms Pinball (3/2; 6 Minutes played; 2 stars) - Don't know if I am going to count this.
10: 9.03 (3/2; 12 Minutes played; 5 stars?) - A nifty arty game about being sad and then going to a beach party for wizards. Oh, those wizards are all dead. Oh. They weren't wizards.
11: Dinner Date (3/2; 20 Minutes played; 4 stars) - Sit at a Table and Ponder Your Life: The Game
12: The Polynomial (3/2; 7 Minutes played; 4 stars) - Endless game, not sure if I should count it. Looks great.
13: GundeadliGne (3/2; 30 Minutes played; X stars) - Shoot stuff.
14: Telltale Texas Hold'Em (3/2; 15 Minutes played; 3 stars) - Pretty funny, but not as polished as their recent poker games.
15: Postal (3/3; 3 Hours played; 2 stars) - The sounds of hundreds of burning ostriches will haunt my dreams for all days.
16: Costume Quest Prototype (3/3; 13 Minutes played; 1 star) - Buggy but charming mess.
17: Save the Date (3/3; 15 Minutes played; 4 stars) - Interesting one. Well worth the investment (zero dollars and fifteen minutes)

Previous update:
01: Luxor (3/1; 9 Hours played; 3 stars) - Started in Feb. It's ok.
02: Love (3/1; 38 Minutes played; 3 stars) - Pretty fun.
03: The Graveyard (3/1; 13 Minutes played; 1 or maybe 5 stars) - A true gem! Or maybe not. But maybe!
04: Happy Song Prototype (3/1; 5 Minutes played; 3 stars) - Nifty?
05: The White Birch Prototype (3/1; 16 Minutes played; 4 stars) - Very nice atmospheric climbing game. Rough mechanics.
06: Black Lake Prototype (3/1; 16 Minutes played; 5 stars) - Really cool game. Gotta find that fox!
07: BRAZEN Prototype (3/1; 10 Minutes played; 4 stars) - Fun stuff. A few hours would have been too much.
08: Magical Drop V (3/1; 30 Minutes played; 2 stars) - Not sure if this game is designed for kids or perverts.
