This thread will maintain a list of all current and upcoming sales and markdowns on the Xbox Live Marketplace / Xbox Games Store for the USA.  YMMV in other regions.  If non-US sales are listed, they will be marked with their applicable region(s).

Please note:

  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance, but DLC cannot.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.  This requires being a paid subscriber or within a console-activated "1 month complimentary Gold trial" account.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.
  • All known sales and information on sales should make their way into the OP. Major Nelson usually updates his blog with new sales information every other Tuesday.
  • ALL OFFERS ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE! No information within this thread can or should be construed as accurate (or still valid), therefore ...
  • Always verify Xbox Live Marketplace prices before your purchase!
  • Spend wisely, have fun, and enjoy!

Time to take the wheel...

I tried out the Project Spark beta today on XB1. It was okay, but that's because I'm not big on creating stuff. I did enjoy playing the Fable level. It was spot on considering I recently played Fable Anniversary.

They have challenges in the game that increase your level. Not sure if that unlocks more options or what. But some of the content was locked behind tokens and time you can purchase. It says something about the time resetting every day.

I think you can get tokens from challenges or leveling up. I'm interested in trying motion capture and voice overs using Kinect if that is in beta.

I think I see why Thief advices you to install it. Cutscenes look terrible. Something wrong with the frame rate. I'm skipping them until I get to play X1 version.

EDIT: Thief is giving me a headache. I think it is the constant camera jerking around when opening up stuff. There is a lot of stuff to open. I'll give it another go tomorrow, but without trying to collect everything.

I'm surprised no one mentioned those great Castlevania titles for DS. Enjoyed them all, unlike these crappy LoS games we get nowadays.
The LoS games are great. Don't knock them cause they're not the old Metroidvania titles.

Blame Konami for not making more "traditional" Castlevanias.

I cant remember the last time we talked here about a xbl deal... XD But i get it, there's not much to talk about this week.

Changing topic, i've just 100% Runner2 and i can't decide what was more challenging: this game or Splosion man games on hardcore. Which reminds me it's been a year i don't play them and i've helped a bunch of people so far with the coop campaign, so if anyone wants a ride or are in need of that achievmnt you can add me as friend. For science!

Yeah I picked up Castlevania Symphony of the Night when it was a Xbox Live deal, love it, that and Shadow Complex. Go retro, go back to the metroidvania genre. We'll only see this from an indie I fear.

Wow very nice on 100% on Runner2. I went through the game on easy and did a few levels here and there on hard to get Perfect+ but I just don't have the patience for it (patience for replaying levels to get perfect+ in case I miss the bullseye >.<).

I Think the only game that ever did the talk on a headset while slowly walking right or non annoying was No More Heroes on the Wii. Simply because you knew when it was going to happen (right before every boss fight) and treating the Wii-mote like a phone was pretty fucking awesome.
Cursed Mountain had a fantastic part where you navigated a maze using the wiimote as a walkie to listen as someone on the other end guided you.

If you thought that was hard you should try just beating the 1st Runner. My word that was brutal!

Anybody have problems with Rock Bank Blitz having song dates wrong? There is an achievement for playing a song from every decade starting at 1950s. I buy a song that says 1956 in store then go to play it and the date changes to 1987. Looking up the song online, it is from 1950s. Cheese and crackers

One of the dozens of games I started and left off in the past several years.

Speaking of backlog, I beat Alan Wake today. The DLC is apparently "corrupted", so I don't know when I'm ever getting around to that.

Flapmmo works on Xbox One. Haven't tested on 360.

EDIT: I was planning on going to sleep about 4 hours and thought that I'd test out Spark on Xbox One for a few minutes. I didn't like it on my laptop because it ran horribly. I spent about 3 hours starting to make a game and another hour playing stuff other people made. Zelda OoT looks the most promising so far.

LoS games are not great, the gameplay isn't even acceptable. The story, graphics and art are great, but the gameplay is, well... unplayable and boring, same with the music. In my book, a 4/10.

Everyone is free to have their own opinion though, so lucky you if you like'em.

I definitely do not classify them as great, though the first one was good. There is enough room in the CV universe for traditional and metroidvania experiences though. I wish they would rotate between the two.

On a side note cause that's how the threads a rolling, I just finished Sleeping Dogs. One of the few games I can remember where I didn't want it to end. Of course taste is subjective but I highly recommend firing it up if you haven't yet. I would love to see a sequel come to Xbox One.

Yeah, all the people I know who played the game, really liked it. It's deep in my backlog though LOL

Lords of Shadow 1 is indeed a great game on many levels. Gameplay is fun and the leveling up keeps it interesting. The story is good, though a bit convoluted, it ended with such a surprise at the time. The visuals were impressive from an art perspective but technically they were just ok. I thought the music was pretty good too. The game was also challenging, almost in an old school kind of way, which I appreciated. It's worth checking out if you are curious.

Mirror of Fate, though, I couldn't get into. Purely from a gameplay standpoint. I didn't get LoS2 yet based on the reviews, but the demo was fun.

The last few hours were incredible. It was like playing a classic John Woo movie.

Yeah - game discussion when it's at least relevant to the 360 is fine, but there's now 2 pages of fucking DS posts. Thee's a DS board here:

http://www.cheapassgamer.com/forum/31-3dsdsgba/

Please use it if you feel the need.
I realize there may not be a lot on XBL to talk about -- but when a few people are on here debating when to buy the PS4 because the new Batman game is coming out this fall...it's like....yeah, enough already. Isn't there a chat room or thread that fills that need? When it has nothing at all to do with the 360 -- like DS posts -- find a different thread to talk about it.

Yeah guys. Lets please keep discussion limited to things that only interest me. I find it very difficult to simply skim over things that I deem off topic.

God forbid any of us chat like friends on a board that only thrives due to social interaction.

Business or GTFO.

My inner swami thinks Crysis 3 is one of the next GOD to hit the sale list next week. I have no source for this prognostication, just a wet dream from last night.

Okay, you guys really need to get this thread on track and the only topic you're now allowed to discuss is how awesome the Xbox One is. No negativity. No Xbox 360. Just Xbox One's greatness. Go.

The XBox One is awesome, finally thanks to its lack of games I can know a life with no backlog.

I don't think it's unreasonable to ask for people to try to stay somewhat on topic. I know it only results in snarky-thread police-help-I'm-being-oppressed responses but cmon. There are plenty of discussion threads for all sorts of topics here for the folks who gosh just want social interaction. I come here for specific social inteaction, though, and yes I can and do skim past the chatter but it gets to the point I forget what thread I'm in ...

And yes I know I'm only adding to the noise, so you dont have to create a cute hash tag pointing that out.

Try deleting the DLC and downloading it again? The DLC is too good to miss, especially The Writer.
I tried from download history, the dashboard, and the game itself. Same error.

If it gets anywhere near as surreal as the end of the main game I'm excited.

Even if I liked Lords of Shadow I couldn't describe something so derivative as "great". If you enjoy the game(s), cool, it just doesn't have much identity of its own.

Oh and the big plot twist was spoiled by the descriptive blurb on Mirror of Fate. I'd be pissed if I were remotely invested.

Just a heads up. If you're going to do the promotion Xbox Live Rewards has for season passes, buy $50 worth to get $5 back, tomorrow is your last day to make purchases for it.

Xbox Live Rewards still doesn't have any new punchcards up. I'm hoping it's because DLC will be part of one of the next punchcards, and they don't want a single purchase to count towards both the punchcard and the season pass mission. So they might be holding the punchcards off until the season pass mission comes to an end.

Though they have waited too long to do a general DLC punchcard. Seven months ago I would have filled one up with just Rock Band content. Now I've kind of moved on from Rock Band, and I doubt I could fill a $75 DLC punchcard anymore.

Speaking of Rock Band, Harmonix made a post this past week saying it looks like they'll be able to secure all their dlc for this quarter. It will probably be another three months before they have to announce any songs being delisted.

I tried from download history, the dashboard, and the game itself. Same error.

Did you try just queing it up from the site? Not sure why it would have a problem redownloading at all from any avenue.

I hope you do get to play it, it's even more surreal than the main game, especially the second DLC (The Writer). Also, it's not DLC that just adds on to the story, it takes place slightly after the end and adds new mechanics to the game.

Nintendo chat in an Xbox thread is hilarious, even more so if the rumor is true that Nintendo is selling more consoles than the Xbox One.

Was going through backlog and found 'Splosion man. The jumping gameplay is good but the combat mechanics suck. Levels seem forgettable after a while until I encountered this:

First time in the game where I laughed to the point where I had to stop playing.  I may just keep the game after playing through levels with this guy.

I beat the first boss ("Missiles!") but please tell me it just gets funnier from here.

Congrats! I just started World 3 on Normal after having gotten Perfect+ on all the previous levels. It definitely takes time and patience. Slow and steady.

I'd love to do a co-op run of either of the Splosion Man games. GT: Cleaner7x

For whoever mentioned Sleeping Dogs I loved that game too. Managed to 100% it within a week of buying it so I'm not too mad it eventually went free. It was one of those rare occasions of buying and actually playing a game. They announced a sequel so I'm excited for that.

If there are more interesting on-topic things to discuss here, then they'll get brought up and take over whatever else is talked about in here. Bring something up yourself if you want, but complaining does nothing to "help." It's not preventing anybody from discussing any of the games that are on sale or other related items, so I don't really see the problem. I'd rather have that than a thread with no posts until somebody wants to talk about an item in the OP.

If you, or anybody else, is really believes that the off-topic discussion doesn't belong here at all, then reporting the posts for the mods to decide on whether to remove or not is the best course of action.

If you want on topic, come here Monday and Tuesday's. Otherwise there would literally be nothing else to discuss for the other five days  if we kept it on track with XBL deals, especially if it's a Rockstar sale week or whatever.

I really hope the person that made Zelda: OoT in Project Spark finishes it. It will probably take several years, but I can wait. I'm really enjoying playing other peoples' levels. The one I'm working on should be done in a few months and will be extremely disappointing.

One time I was with a friend of mine, and we somehow got on the topic of names we hate. My first response was the name "Dwayne", because I knew a real jerk named Dwayne. I basically said everyone named Dwayne was an idiot. My friend then reminded me that his Dad's name is Dwayne.

Fast forward a few years later. I'm with the same friend. I mention how I now hate people named Adam by default, because of a long running feud with a guy who used to date my girlfriend at the time. I remember saying I automatically hate any Adams I meet...while at the same time remembering my friends name was in fact Adam. All I could say was "Not you though...just new ones."
