This thread will maintain a list of all current and upcoming sales and markdowns on the Xbox Live Marketplace / Xbox Games Store for the USA.  YMMV in other regions.  If non-US sales are listed, they will be marked with their applicable region(s).

Please note:

  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance, but DLC cannot.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.  This requires being a paid subscriber or within a console-activated "1 month complimentary Gold trial" account.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.
  • All known sales and information on sales should make their way into the OP. Major Nelson usually updates his blog with new sales information every other Tuesday.
  • ALL OFFERS ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE! No information within this thread can or should be construed as accurate (or still valid), therefore ...
  • Always verify Xbox Live Marketplace prices before your purchase!
  • Spend wisely, have fun, and enjoy!

I doubt it. Doesn't Deep Silver now control the Saints franchise? If so, don't expect sales for the older titles, only the more recent ones.

There was definitely plenty of criticism about GTA IV around the launch that happened outside of the glowing reviews that isn't just people taking part in some sort of hate parade later on, as I know I had my fair share of issues from the start. The bad controls, the cognitive dissonance with Niko's story, the lack of mid-mission checkpoints, and the overly pushy friends that constantly called you to hang out were the main issues for me. The Bank Heist mission specifically was the part where it went from 'This is pretty cool!" to "I'm never going to play this game again." before I sold it off.
Of course there are criticisms to be made and you touched on the main ones (you might be alone on the bank heist mission, though, as it was really well received and the reason why there is such a focus on them in GTA V). I'm more getting at people who outright dismiss the game/series as terrible instead of simply saying "it's not for me". Because even if it's not for you, it's hard to deny that these are expertly crafted game worlds.

And I feel like I say this every other week now (lots of sales on it recently), but I do not recommend L.A. Noire. The investigation mechanics are pretty awesome at first, but it doesn't take long for you to realize how shallow it all really is and repetition sets in long before the game is over. Physical copies are comparably priced to this weeks sale. I'd say go that route since even if you do like it I couldn't imagine wanting to replay it.

As someone who played GTA IV for the first time last year, I have to agree with almost every point you said. The bank heist mission in particular drove me nuts with the lack of checkpointing, have to drive back to the bank EVERY SINGLE TIME. I'll probably get to GTA V sometime in 2017.

I've struggled with enjoying rockstar games because of the lack of mid-mission checkpoints/saves.  Red Dead Redemption whenever there were long travel sections just to get back to the mission start was possibly more tedious than gtaiv

Agreed on all those points pertaining to mid-mission saves. That just triggered my Sleeping Dogs epiphany.....didn't it have mid-mission check points?

For anybody that doesn't already own Bully...get it now.  Awesome game that you will absolutely want to play all the way through.  It's a steal at this price.

Yeah. That can definitely be a pain. GTA V has frequent mission checkpoints so you would probably enjoy it more.

The driving in 4 made me hate GTA. Is the driving in 5 better? If not, I may just skip 5 altogether.
Oh god yes the driving is a lot better, plus you can use Franklin's special ability to slow down time and do precision driving - this mechanic was evident in Rockstar's Midnight Club series. GTA V is a good game, improved on all the things they did wrong with GTA IV. GTA IV got mid mission checkpoints in its DLC. It was a much needed game design tweak and I also loved with the introduction with GT IV's The Ballad of Gay Tony DLC

the option to retry missions on your phone afterwards - which later is actually implemented in GTA V if you want to better your score/take or go for achievements.

Yes this thread gets wall sized rants from time to time, yes this thread goes astray from time to time, yes this thread gets heated debates and the occasional creepy talk, but that's what keeps so many here coming back for more. While I may be a noob, in the few years I having been in CAG, this thread has always been the most fun.
It's the gaming watering hole on CAG lol. If i had a cafe that I'd walk in and talk games with buddies, this would be the conversations I would hear. You could make webcomics on this shit haha.

Now for L.A. Noire, a lot of people either didn't know or forgot that the game wasn't made by Rockstar. Rockstar's involvement came in at the end where they tried to polish what the Team Bondi had created. I was holding off for a GotY edition but it looks like this is as good as it'll be, like someone else mentioned, we'll see physical copies close at that price too.

I think the definition of fanboy would be when someone goes to these lengths to link the success and failures of two games that have nothing to do with one another. Creating imaginary excuses on both the review and sales front and blaming it on another game so you can use your biased to slam that one even further.
I thought we were done with this, but guess not. So as to not plague everyone else with a wall of text, I've spoilered it this time.

I've already come out and said that I thought Yaiba was mediocre (not really sure how you can fanboy for a mediocre game). Just that I thought it was getting a bum rap because it launched against Metal Gear. Games that share release dates do compete with each other most of the time (the exception usually being when they're for completely different platforms), as most people only have xyz amount of money at a given time. If the game had launched > 2 weeks earlier or later, I wouldn't even think of them as connected.

Undeservedly bad reviews (which do exist, like the Tropical Freeze 5/10 GameSpot review I mentioned yesterday), and hype for another game (that imo is overrated because of its pedigree) are not "imaginary reasons" for lower sales. Think of it this way, how well do you think any game that came out for 360/PS3 on the same day as GTAV would have sold? I mean Wonderful 101 was on a different platform and even it sold like crap, there are other reasons at play in that example, but GTA definitely was part of it.

On the review front, reviewer bias for triple-A, and big series games does exist, best recent example is BF4. Do you think a game that shipped in the state it did deserves the 80s it has on Metacritic? No, it doesn't. As for why, that's a long discussion about the fine line between gaming reviews and marketing, (for example, EA has paid people on YouTube for "focused" reviews -> http://www.digitaltrends.com/gaming/ea-accused-paying-youtubers-highlight-games-without-telling-public/#!AGW1w) and the comfy relationship between "professional" reviewers and PR people (reviewers get free swag all the time, invited to press events, etc).

Not to imply Konami paid anyone off (doesn't seem like the kind of publisher who would), in that case I would say it was more that the journalists get caught up in the hype (which happens). Not ALL journalists have though, and those who haven't and can see past the title (for example, Jim Sterling -> http://www.escapistmagazine.com/articles/view/editorials/reviews/11133-Metal-Gear-Solid-V-Ground-Zeroes-Review-Snake-Oil) rightfully give the game the flak it deserves, but they remain in the minority on this one.

It wouldn't even have had to been Yaiba, it could have been any similar quality "niche" game that got lower than deserved reviews while MG got the reviews it did, released on the same date. I guess you can say that I'm more an anti-fanboy of Ground Zeroes (I don't hate it, just think it mostly got overrated on the brand name), if that makes any sense? Why is that such a ridiculous opinion to have? Why do so many people in this thread make that out to be the worst opinion of the century?

Anyways, I hope this time we can really drop it.

Here you go. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0050SYKZ8/ref=twister_B0050SXBQC?ie=UTF8&psc=1It It's the only way to play the Consul's Car case on the 360.

Holding off for a goty? Wha? The complete edition has existed for quite some time at reasonable prices. I grabbed mine for 20.
Huh, I must have missed it?

Thanks BobbyTastic for the link and for BF4's case:

I believe the biggest thing there was that reviewers played the game in a controlled "LAN" environment and never encountered the buggy ass servers the general public did when the green light went on day 1.

In this day and age, setting a review in stone is just wrong since many games come out with flaws that get patched along the line as the development team supports the title that everyone is running out and buying. Some games and developers/publishers might take this a bit too far but generally there's a good spirit for making the game the best it can be for gamers and for gamers to continue to play the developer's game, spread via word of mouth possible additional customers or people willing to support the game via purchased DLC.

I owned the disc a few years ago and got about 1/3 in before taking a break and eventually sold it without ever starting it back up. It was likeable, but I'm living proof to the contrary of this statement. Life can go on without Bully.

Well life will go on, but it will never be as fulfilling :D

No other game puts you on quests to find and hide a teachers liquor or raid a dorm for panties.....pure unadulterated adolescent awesomeness...

What other game desperately needs a sequel, you know other than RDR-HL2 is already known and therefore translucent!

I'm always in the camp that Red Dead Redemption doesn't need a sequel. Like really what else can they improve or how can the story progress? Especially when the story of the game centered around how the time of cowboy's was coming to an end with 20th century technology now taking the lead. The game was perfect for what it is and I'm fine leaving it like that.

Other than that, Enslaved and Shadows of the Damned are the first games that immediately spring to mind when thinking of games I'd like a sequel to. Well that and Dance Central, but I just fucking love that franchise and want more.

Well life will go on, but it will never be as fulfilling :D
Bully is worth the money just for the feeling that you get when you knock some kid off a bike, steal it, and then that weird Tim Burton-esque music takes over as you pedal to the metal . . . such a brilliant game. Even the school work is fun for the most part. And of course this is the edition that added a few more modes that the original PS2 version didn't have, so even if you played it back then you'll have a few small surprises.

And yes, it's nice to see crazy old war veterans who live out back of school engaging with children by teaching them kung-fu moves as long as you bring their disturbed brained selves some radios you find scattered around . . .

Also, come on. In what other game can you give a kid a wedgie and then force him into a locker?! Best game ever.

You hated the bank mission? Wow, it's the best part of the game. It's like I was playing the bank heist from the movie Heat. What They need to do Is remake GTA 3 and Vice City, that would be so much fun.
No, I died thirty minutes into that mission and the idea of having to do all of that over again was enough to make me not want to play it again.

I don't think I'm alone on the bank heist since my issue was the lack of checkpoints showing a complete lack of respect for my time from Rockstar. In fact, the quote below is confirmation of that:
As someone who played GTA IV for the first time last year, I have to agree with almost every point you said. The bank heist mission in particular drove me nuts with the lack of checkpointing, have to drive back to the bank EVERY SINGLE TIME. I'll probably get to GTA V sometime in 2017.
Bingo.

They can make it bigger. I'd love a massive sized Red Dead to free roam in. I think Project Spark has unlimited sized worlds on X1, so I dream of a Red Dead that I can ride around for hours enjoying the peaceful soundtrack and new scenery.

I don't know why people liked Enslaved. I had to stop early on because it felt like they made one of those terrible escort missions into a full game (maybe I'm thinking of a different game).

You're absolutely right. It would have to be another spiritual successor like Redemption was to Revolver. That's why the game isn't even in my top 3 of Rockstar games that need a sequel.

Battletoads and Jet Force Gemini. Or just release the originals on XBLA.
If only. That and if they're going to add Battletoads, they better put the Double Dragon games back on there. And all those delisted Midway games.

Also, I have to apologize, for some reason I have the urge to like every single post in this thread today. Maybe I'm just in a good mood or maybe all the posts are extra-good today or something.

I loved Enslaved and it's DLC so much that I don't think it needs a sequel. It's great just as it is.

Yep, it's the game where you go "scorting" a girl, because if you go too far, your head explodes! But Trip (the girl) is a tough girl, mainly because she owns a taser, and if a mech goes near her... well, it gets fried and you go and kill it. You don't really worry about her being killed in the game as much as you dying because you went too far without her.

The game wasn't too popular, but it's one of my faves from this past gen.

And I thought I was the weirdo. 100% agreed with every word. RDR needs a sequel as much as Cowboy Bebop.

And at the risk of being called a fanboy :D/ , besides the virtual reality headset Sony is working on, today it has been announced an eye-tracking tech which was so unthinkable some years ago, and it's happening now. When ps4/xbox1 were revealed i couldnt appreciate (and still can't) a substantial gen jump, visually-wise specially, definitely not like in previous ones, but everything points towards this gen will introduce the technology for the future of gaming. Just hope Microsoft catchs up for everybody's sake.

Here's a game you don't anything about these days, that really needs a sequel or modern day remake: Blast Corps. This would rock as an XBLA title.

On topic with XBLA deals thread:
Really hoping for a Metro: Last Light DLC sale soon. I snagged it on Amazon, (it's $19.99 for the vanilla version, cheapest I've seen for a good while).

The ending seemed to imply that there was more story that they had planned and the ending itself was so...anticlimactic.

I seem to remember Enslaved as being a halfway decent game, (I vaguely remember the big guy reminding me of a cross between Shrek and Marcus Fenix). I played it long time back . It was totally worth the rental price.

Eye-tracking tech has been available for quite some time (usually in Psych labs, dates back to the 1800s). Making it affordable and used in gaming is new though and I am somewhat looking forward to it. I won't judge harshly until I get a chance to try it myself. The most effective eye trackers that I have used need to be placed pretty close to your eye. Uncomfortably close for an extended period of time. Other eye trackers work similar to Kinect, but focus on eyes instead of the whole body. Maybe Kinect will get an update to track eyes, but I still don't think it would be amazing. I like the idea of virtual reality though.

The season pass was on sale recently, for a great deal. I forget how much exactly, but it might be a wait.

Hmm, out of curiosity, you guys know Red Dead Redemption was itself a sequel?

Well, the ending was weird, I agree with you. And there is indeed place for continuing the story, but I think that if they do make a sequel, it won't be as fresh and good as the first one, so I'm better without it.

Didn't the ending made you think about
the movie "Matrix"? I felt kinda ripped off by it, but loved the game nonetheless. Besides, the song at the credits was pretty good too.

Everybody taking about Rickstar games needing sequels brings to mind my favorite coop game that I wish would get an HD remake, because a sequel wouldn't make sense, the Warriors. that was a badass game that blended right into the movie. PS3 has it but only a port.

A HD remake, a sequel or SOMETHING about Rival Schools would be appreciated too xD

Holy shit, I completely forgot that game was published by Rockstar. I am so ashamed of myself. ;_; Sorry, Chicago Noire, you're gonna have to take a backseat to the Warriors sequel.

Edit: Oh so.. in case none of you know, Battleblock Theater is getting ported to Steam. That's XBLA related right? Sure it is! Now I have an excuse to post this here.

Game update. Just beat X-men Origin: Wolverine.  That game had no business being as fun as it was.  Having a bloody M rated Wolverine game was awesome. Hope they make a sequel.  Only real gripe (beside a little performance issues) was the final boss battle was cheap.  I had to try about a dozen time before I got it right and when I did die it was usually not my fault.  Anyway, a big recommend if you like Wolverine.

It's a shame the game and the Weapon X Arena DLC were delisted. The GoD never went below $10. Gonna have to buy it used at some point.

I Think they can make it work. Let's be honest, Enslaved wasn't anything revolutionary, but it was a damn fine game for what it was and there are many things it could improve on.

I Consider Red Dead Redemption in ways to be more of a spiritual successor to Red Dead Revolver considering that was originally a Capcom game that they gave up on when it was nearly complete and as far as I remember the thing that Rockstar changed in the game was really the writing.

It really was much better than I expected too. Too bad about the dlc but it was a total rip off. Just YouTube it to see what you "missed."

I can't believe Table Tennis hasn't been mentioned.
