Wii U for $99 at Sears (YMMV?)

APHughes

CAGiversary!
Saw a post on reddit so I called the Seattle Sears location and they had 2 in stock of the 32GB launch consoles. They showed as $199 but I asked him to ring them up and they came up as $99. I had him hold both for me and when I picked them up I had him check the Seattle area for more but none in stock.

This is only for the Nintendo Land bundle, NOT the Zelda or Mario bundles.

Good Luck

I'm at Sears now but the nintendoland black wiiu is ringing up $199.99!!!! I had her scan it correctly at checkout but the price isn't right! Anyone else have this problem?

And what is the trick to getting it to change to $99?!
some people have reported in the last few hours that managers at different stores are saying it was a price mistake in the system and that according to those managers the price been fixed. so if that true then that could be the reason it no longer ringing up that price in which case just out of luck

I read it. Definitely not embarrsed. I'm a long time CAG lurker, but never a poster. SD has helped me a lot and I've never contriubted much before. To be fair, my friend was the one who told me about the deal anyway and it happened to be right around 12 so I took my break and snagged one. He gave me the source.

And yeah, not worried about the SN tbh, but too many people on SD so I did it for there just in case. But now that you mention it..
I wasn't referring to you posting this on SD as the reason as to why you should be embarrassed. What I meant was, soon after I made that initial post to whether the OP's post was legit or a hoax (post #200), me and Wii Fit Trainer exchanged a couple more posts (#202 and #207) in regards to you also posting that you got the deal and providing proof with your image of the receipt. So there was no need for you to post #243, because doing so makes it seem like you didn't read #202 and #207 after all, get it?

Oh well yes, but I had newer pics that were requested on SD that I thought I would share for further proof, that's all.

Oh boy, I knew this thread was going to blow up. I always find it entertaining when the flippers from here bitch about the ones from SD. Thanks for laughs!

I checked my Sears Grand and their video game section had no consoles at all. Just games. Really really jealous at the OP right now.

Im tempted to get one for all the awesome games coming out, but i can wait for after e3 or the fall to see if there is a price drop
I bought a brand new Mario bundle on Ebay for $265 today. Keep an eye out for the most recently listed and you should be able to get a bundle around $270.

Saw a Black 3DS for $149.97 or something are those things cheaper? I was in a small package.. would of had it checked but the place was employee free for some damn reason...

Welcome to Sears. 149.97 is the standard clearance for us on normal 3DSes every day I come into work I check the game case to see if it went any lower.

I saw that, too. Think it was just the old cosmo black 3ds...so that's $20 off msrp, I guess.

Western NY southtowns...McKinley Mall.
Thanks for posting that information. You saved me a ton of gas. I'll either wait til Black Friday to get one or I'll keep on waiting. I'm not in a rush to get a Wii U, but it's the only system that I don't have. I picked most of the games pretty cheap so they can sit there for the time being. I had my friend check the Walden Galleria Sears location, and they only had the Mario And Luigi Bundle which was $299.99...Called the Amherst, NY location and they didn't have it either. Those were the only stores that I was going to check.

Store #1: regular price. The employee checked the computer, but refused to actually scan it. I'm not coming all this way for them to not even try; I'm asking someone else.
Get a UPC maker on your phone, find the UPC on Amazon, scan it on one of the Price Check machines. This is how I usually get around asking clueless employees for help. I got tired of the smug "It's the price that it says." remarks then they look surprised when it's a lot cheaper when I actually make the purchase.

The XL's were 150 on Black Friday. Also no one buys video games at Sears so if those 3DS's are the original SKU's, you might be buying the ones that scratch the screen.

I don't think they ever fixed that did they? At least on the standard models?

I still have my launch unit (with 2 obnoxious vertical scratches of course) and was thinking of replacing it, but between that and the lack of an account system (which means I can't trade my old one in towards the new one) I couldn't pull the trigger.

You know you can transfer all your content from one system to another a la the WiiU

Nope, I never heard anything like that before. I can't get my google app to work now, would you have a link on how to do that?

I assume the content would still be locked onto only 1 3DS at a time right? Because if I can use this to share my digital stuff between 2 systems without sitting through lengthy transfers each time I would gladly buy a 3DS XL to play at home and probably just keep the 3DS I have now as my portable. If not I'd still be interested in a trade-in to a newer unit at least, if only because those scratches hurt the 3D effects.

I've personally done it (scored a pink 3DSXL from Kmart for $35). Look in the system options or whatever and there is a System Transfer option (they patched it in at some point after the Wii U launched). I have all of my ambassador games on an XL now and it's awesome.

I'll check it out when I get home, thanks for the tip. I do appreciate it.

You cant share between 2 3DS systems but you can do a system transfer once a week or so. Just make sure what your transfering to has no dust or dead pixels otherwise you have to wait a week.

Damn if someone wants a Deluxe 32gb Wii U, PM me. I unfortunately had to buy a Zelda bundle for the gamepad and already had a Zombi U bundle. Have an extra Wii U sitting here

Yeah I just found out the 5 transfer limit was lifted a month or so ago lol. While that's nice, I remember the completely asinine transfer time when my friend transferred 1 game and like 10 photos between his DSi and 3DS, and from what I heard that hasn't been improved much. Even that wouldn't be a huge issue if I could pick and choose what I wanted to transfer, but apparently it's all or nothing right? Couple all that with the one week rule you just mentioned and it really isn't a viable alternative for me.

I really don't understand why Nintendo does this, they really are their own worst enemy sometimes. Even if they insist on sticking to these draconian DRM restrictions I don't see why I can't at least choose what I want to transfer, it would be great to keep a 3DS XL at home with everything on it and just transfer New Leaf or a few ambassador games or w/e to my portable whenever I travel. But I just don't have the patience to wait for the entire process every time, so I stick with my standard system and Nintendo loses a sale

So no one has any info if those small packaged Cosmo Black $149.97 3DS units have dropped or if that price is correct?

Like I said I would of had it checked but I think the employees hide from customers in this store.

Your best bet is to print a barcode with the system's UPC and scan it at the scanners, then you can check the price. Also for those doing sears deals make sure they ring you up on the actual register not the iPad, since the iPad will charge you full price from sears.com

I dont think I have ever seen the pole scanners at this store

lol all this thread does is remind me of the times when Sears clearance used to be aplenty...when games could easily be had for 2-3 dollars and watching the monthly drops used to actually be a thing...sigh...the good ol days...

and how you used to be able to use google shopping to track all the clearance at each store instead driving all around for them

Is there any chance some stores will still have the $99 price, or don't bother?
What he said. I live in a small town in the middle of nowhere, but we have a Sears for some reason.

I doubt many people will have heard of the deal here, but I'm wondering if they've pretty much fixed the error.

Um, it makes a lot of sense, actually. If you could pick and choose what to transfer freely it would allow for game sharing. Just transfer a game or two to your friend, and they could do the same. It would be beyond stupid. Nobody allows that sort of thing, and for good reason.

I wasn't here for those times, but I hear it was glorious.

I would pay $99 to get anyone who bitches about the Wii U in this thread banned. No one fucking cares what you think about the system.

Thanks OP, going to call around in the morning and see what I can turn up.
You cared enough to make your post bitching about other people bitching. :wall:

Yeah it was great. Most stuff wasn't tagged correctly either so you could wait for games to keep dropping in price every month until they got a price you wanted and they had a much better selection of games back then too. Then when the employees would ring up a game tagged $59.97 and it scanned for $0.97 it was always interesting to see how they would react. Same thing with KMart, back when games used to get to 90% off and still in the system so you didn't have to hope that a manger would agree to the 90% off price.

How long did it last? What games did you score?
