$317.99 with tax, shipped. Tempting… but I haven't saved up that much yet. :( Oh well. I will consider going that route once I've saved up that much. I note that all are missing the headset and then I realized that you probably don't want a used in-ear headset. LOL.
No you don't, and it's not that great to begin with. I think I used mine once before putting it in a drawer. I've been using the ones that came with my phone instead.

I don't like these Retro games.. but they are at least games for a system that's not being turned on... (because it's being ignored by Sony)

At least the Xbox watches TV.. kinda... if it hears me on the third, fourth,or fifth repetition of the same words. I don't even have an accent.. how to people from Wisconsin or New York or Louisiana get it to understand them..

I'm digging Murumasa SO far. Trying to figure out WTF is happening though. Something about a demon taking over a girls body or something and not caring if it kills everyone good or evil.. sounds like a real peach.
Wisconsin? WTF do you think we sound like here? I'm curious :p .

Meh. Give it time.
yeah, i'm sure they'll change their minds later when they notice the difference in sales. not that i care about stealth inc at all, but it seems silly to me when devs make a sequel exclusive to another platform. i can understand if the current company doesn't want to publish their game anymore, but we all know that's not the case here.

Wisconsin? WTF do you think we sound like here? I'm curious :p .

I'm sure Nintendo just paid them so much that they think the exclusivity contract is worth more than sales from other platforms.

Yep.. that's pretty much exactly what I'm saying..

I feign indignation at the PS+ stuff because I understand you'll not give out everything. And occasionally they do stuff like Mercenary Kings... but looking down the release list since launch and there's not much of anything worth a damn. MLB14 is releasing a MONTH after Baseball Season started and the other versions came out. The "launch" title of Drive Club MIGHT be out in October (seriously, a YEAR delay?). From now until June the only game I'm commited to buying from them is Watch Dogs.. everything else is a wait an see. Through October and you can add Dragon Age and the Crew to that list.

So I own a PS4.. and I've bought.... 3-4 games on it since launch.. and another 2-3 games for the ENTIRE YEAR. So yes, I feel Sony is pulling a Nintendo on their launch of this system. (I will note, to be fair, I have the EXACT same issue with XBO... I think I'm done being an early adopter.. because I'm only getting screwed in the process... every.. single.... time.)

yeah, you're talking like this is the first console launch you've ever seen. this is how every single launch ever has been and will be forever. there's always a handful of launch games and then a gigantic lull and then a round of announcements that generate excitement for new titles (a la e3) and then a gigantic lull until any of those start showing up. usually things start looking less grim around the end of year 2.

at least the ps4 is peppering in a boatload of indies which keeps new things (even if you dislike them) constantly coming every week.
I think the indie love might hit a breaking point sometime soon (especially on the new consoles). Indie games are new, fresh and different to a large group of people who don't do PC gaming, but those types of games are ultimately not what many (perhaps most) console gamers want long-term. It seems like Sony (maybe Microsoft too) is latching onto the Indies almost to the detriment of bigger games. This is likely an easy and cheap way to release lots of games and takes the focus away from what might be poor planning or execution or just bad luck of their game development studios. While this strategy makes great sense for them business-wise in the short-term (and may be their only option at this point), there will come a time when people tire of these and go back to expecting things that look and act like big budget productions.

There is certainly a place for small games, but it is taking up much more mindshare right now than it probably will long-term. I don't want to say Indie games are a fad, but they do have a similar feel.

Wisconsin? WTF do you think we sound like here? I'm curious :p .
I KNOW this is a little bit away but in my mind, something like:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u4Je2WxsqWA
just at some Cheese every other line. I remember getting corrected over and over about how to say Waukegan...

Sucks for you. I've probably got about 15-20 games for PS4 so far since the PSN games are doing a good job of filling the gaps between big releases.
See, and I just can't do indies. I may pick one up every once in a while but it's not my bread and butter. I don't care for retro. I think some of the games are silly. And while I'm not a graphics SNOB, I think games should atleast look decent on a next gen system. Not a bunch of blurry pixels and my imagination. If my 286 could run it... it shouldn't be on a next gen system.

I want to preface this by saying that I love the 3DS, and I don't regret being an early adopter. It was almost a year after the 3DS came out that you could say it had 3-4 good games. Sony is doing much better.
I should know better. PSP, DS Phat, Wii U, 3DS, PSGO.. I would have thought it'd be better (and the launch "window" Sony had was pretty decent) I guess I'm done with that though.

Most people in Louisiana don't really have an accent either. I just let it slide.

Around 8:55. That's how most people I've known from Louisiana sounded. The ladies are a bit too much but you could tell there's was a French sound to it.

Anyone had an issue with their digital version of Twisted Metal PS3 crashing their PS3? I just tried to start it twice and both times it crashed. I've played the game before without issue, this is something new. Going to try to reinstall it. Hopefully it's not some sort of damaged hard drive sector or something.

yeah, maybe i just haven't looked too much into this stuff. i don't understand why nintendo would jump in on a sequel for a game like that. bayonetta, maybe

i don't even consider indie games indie anymore. i put them in the same category as arcade/psn titles. a lot of these "indie" devs are decent sized teams as well. an indie dev in my mind is 1-2 people or a small group of friends. i personally think they jumped the gun on announcing the new systems as well, but this is nothing out of the normal for a launch system. i'll wait for e3 announcements before i make any judgements. i'm also glad to see some of these devs pulling back their titles, and putting more work into them before releasing. instead of releasing a poor/buggy game, and counting on people buying it cause there's "no games".

This is where I defend Wisconsin accents by declaring there isn't one. It most certainly is not French/Canadian. It doesn't even border Canada. Maybe some way up in the north woods have a mixture of the (exaggerated) Fargo accent and the Yooper accent (of 30 Point Buck fame), but most of us Cheeseheads speak perfectly normal and well.

If you guys think I was insulting that's not the intent.  No reason to defend it.  I was just pointing out something from MY perspective.  (and for real it was about the XBO not understanding clear words.. so who the hell cares)

I'll let you guys get back to your talking about sales sucking, lack of trophies, or whatever else is next up on the agenda.

I've been playing Zero Escape, but I'm going to stop. I got past the first room and then I had to sit through an endless dialogue sequence of a typical, utterly lame video game story. So much tapping when all I want is to get to the next damn puzzle. Plus why isn't anyone saying anything to the woman who wears an oval as a shirt?

Ding Ding. Awesomenauts, Fez, Steamworld, Mercenary Kings, Resogun, Strider have all been a blast. This is where PS4 and XBox One really separate, at least in my mind. Microsoft hasn't queued up interesting things to fill the cracks between AAA drops.

Something something, just my opinion, something something...

Well it's at least half visual novel, so what did you expect?

You're playing it wrong. It's a story game with puzzles to break it up. Not the other way around.

I guess so. It's not for me. At least I get to clear up some space on my memory card now! And at least I didn't have to pay for it. Yeah for PS+!

I don't think you're wrong, but I think 'console gamers' are going to be sorely disappointed at the amount of big budget shiny releases from here forward this generation.

I expect there will always be the annuals (Assassin's Creed, CoD, etc) and probably not more than 2 more big budget titles per month save the holidays where we might see a couple more. things have gotten complicated, people are harder to impress, financial risk is higher for developing big budget and indies are probably cutting in to the big budget sales, even if it's as a result of the mental break of "why would I pay $60 for that game when I can play spelunky for $2?".

tl;dr - our indie overlords are the new mainstream, everyone might as well accept it. I look forward to the 2-3 capcom releases per year, I hope at least one is a fighting game.

I agree, I felt no need to defend it, I was curious what people thought we sounded like. Great Archie Bunker pic  .

The real issue is that consumers arnt buying as many triple a titles. So as they've become more expensive to create, its become clear that smaller cheaper experiences can be much more profitable. Also, the b market of videogames is almost nonexistant, which is sad.

yeah, there really needs to be a happy medium. skullgirls is really impressive for a small team fighting game and it looks fantastic. resogun is nuts. it doesn't have to be feast or famine on the graphics v gameplay front. maybe the triple a companies should consider scaling back to a happy medium of good looking, good playing games that don't need 600 hours of content (like mgsv gz I guess). charge $30-$40. ubi seems to get it with their new ubiart stuff like child of light.

I finally got around to checking out all the indie PS Blog posts today, and yeah some of the comments in there are so salty. People are the fucking worst. Actively discouraging game development seems so counter-productive.

I love reading early adopting 'tards complaining, as if there was no precedence for gaming droughts during a new launch cycle.

Just pre-ordered the Vita 2000. Yay.
Free likes for everyone who buys a Vita!

I am just noticing the name of this one game from the slew of ones announced on the PS Blog yesterday- Starwhal: Just the Tip. Best subtitle for a game ever? I think so.
In my next post I'm about to denounce it as one of the worst game titles ever. Take a bunch of stupid overused trendy internet jargon and throw it together. I'm about to vomit...

There we go. :puke:

Stealth Inc. 2 will be a Wii U exclusive. Discuss.

http://www.polygon.com/2014/5/1/5670996/stealth-inc-2-wii-u-exclusive

We have a Wii U and so I'll be able to play, but I really would have liked this on Vita. Oh well.
What? Why? WHAT? WHY?

What a weird game for Nintendo to moneyhat for. And if Nintendo is not paying them for exclusivity, then Curve is just fuck ing stupid. There's really no financial sense in going exclusive anymore unless someone is paying you to do so. Like Thermoplye said, time will tell on this one.

Here is the key that I think a lot are missing and they talk about on podcast beyond... Indie titles have replaced AAA B titles.  Instead of getting these full 6-7 grade b titles, we are getting a ton of good 7-8 indie titles.  I remember that way back when, A+ AAA titles were few and far between.  most games were 6-7 with the occasional good game.  Now big studios are working to push out A+ games, so they spend more time on them.  While the indie developers are the ones chugging out games to fill in the gaps with shorter good games, instead of quick development of full titles that aren't any good.

Example, the new amazing spider man game.  Full retail release with the possibility of being a good game, but quick development equals a bad game.  they give it the two-three year development of Batman Arkham series and it would be a good game!

So if we want these really epic great games, we have to accept they will be few and far between and live with good shorter experiences in between.

K so I didn't get the chance to squeal like a girl in this thread yesterday with the indie game explosion on the PS Blog.  So I'm taking that opportunity now!

Awesome looking:
Axiom Verge – “Crossbuy is a must” from dev in comments
Chasm
Escape Goat 2 – Had my eye on this since the original on PC
Apotheon – Visually awesome

Pretty sweet:
Drifter – No idea what’s going on but looks like it could be fun
Source – Interested to see how this one turns out

Meh:
Nidhogg – MP focused
Jamestown – Shmup, co-op focused
Ironclad Tactics
Starwhal Just the Tip – fuck ing terrible name but looked like fun when the guys at Game Informer were playing it
Skulls of the Shogun – Played on 360, never really grabbed me

Confirmed Terrible:
Spelunky – but at least it’s cross-buy

I appreciate that ubi has experemented with dlc lately as well. Making far cry 3s and assassin creed 4 dlc standalone shows that good looking decently large games can be 15-20 bucka if the engine is already ready to go. And do well.
You mentioned ground zero and I'm fairly sure that was dipping a toe into the water to see how much money they could make on the full game. It did pretty well, so we'll see

Everything goes in cycles and there will be enough demand and interest in bigger budget games to see more mid and high tier development in the future. I'm sure we'll see more variety of pricing structures like free to play, lots of DLC, shorter games in general, but the demand will increase as more and more consoles are sold and as indie games lose a little of their luster.

There we go. :puke:
Sorry to make you vomit. As a former P'Zone enthusiast I'm sure you're used to it, though.

I'm not praising or damning the fact that Zero Escape is pretty much an all reading experience, just pointing it out that if you are playing for just the puzzles, you're gonna have a bad time. I played through 999 and made it a little ways into Zero Escape, but it hasn't really grabbed me as much as the former (I'm sure it will eventually). I think there definitely is a place for games like this, it just doesn't scratch the same itch as sitting down for a nice gaming session. I'll sometimes like to lay down and read a bit before bed and I found 999 to be a suitable and enjoyable replacement for that.

As for "Just the tip", I had no idea that this was some sort of trendy internet thing. I'm definitely not hip to such things (I just found out about Doge a month or two ago.. I think it's pretty funny, honestly, no idea why, though).

Yeah "just the tip" is about as played out as it gets. It's just like:

How come I can't use Paypal on the PS Store? Seems like a core feature they're missing out on.

Definace is going F2P in July.  I almost bought it for $5 a while ago on the off-chance I'd ever check it out, but then someone commented it would be going F2P eventually, which I figured was true based on how many huge discounts it has had.

If Frisky would PM everyone like he said he would we wouldnt keep discussing it.

How is the shoe collection?
I've been trying not to buy any lately to save money and it's becoming a space issue. It helps that there hasn't been too many shoes that I've been interested in.

However, that will look to change next Saturday as these come out:

That's because it's not 'Sony' or 'MS' or 'Nintendo' screwing you over. At the beginning of a launch cycle there is a limited user base that's already financially stretched thin from buying the console itself. Additionally, it takes some time to get used to coding to the new system, so early releases tend to take more development time. If we were getting 5 AAA releases a month for ps4/xbox1 the gaming industry would falter and go belly up, because pubs would be going bankrupt from lack of return on investment.

You buy in early so you get to play the games that are released upon release. You get to be part of the hype. Not to be buried in launch games.

Now that the ps4 has established itself as a big seller, you can bet publishers are lining up releases for it. The faucets should really turn on early next year.

Someone asked the Axiom Verge dev if the game was going to have a platinum and this was his response:

"I haven’t coded the trophies yet, but I believe this is automatic when you obtain all the other trophies?? If I’m wrong somebody set me straight!"

Kinda backs up my theory that there are many devs that don't really know or care about trophies.  Probably what happened with RE4 and MGS Ground Zeroes as well.

In the grand scheme of things, almost nobody gives a shit about trophies.

I mean...is it just that you have to put enough of them in there and the platinum appears? x.x
