After reading that the Nemesis is better for a lot of the harder trophies, I'm eager to do a playthrough with it since my Ferox playthrough was pretty taxing.

...I also didn't know boosts can kill enemies until the final level, when I looked at the trophies out of curiosity and saw the ones that involved using boosts to do so.
I love the Nemesis. It also has homing missles, which while weak, are extremely useful especially when being attacked from both sides. The boosting is essential on the Veteran playthrough later levels.

Is Ferox the slow, powerful one? I hated that ship.

Pokeymon. It's like crack. The new 3DS Pokemons were probably single-handedly responsible for more 3DS sales than the total amount of Vita sales there have been since it launched.
I believe it, I just never understood the appeal of Pokemon. It largely looks like a kiddie RPG lite to me. It might be addictive and great but I've gone this long without playing it. Don't intend to start now.

I loved Blue and Yellow. Silver was alright but I started to get burnt out around then. I don't know how so many people can still love it so much when I was burnt out by the end of the 2nd game.

No, that's Phobos. Ferox is the all-around ship.

Was this posted at all?

Astebreed (plus TorgueL and Revolver360) is coming to PS4.

I really don't think so anymore. I don't even know what everyone is playing on their 3DS systems. I have one and it's in my closet because there isn't much I want to play on it. What are all these amazing games? A lot of RPGs like Bravely Default? My favorite 2 games are still Super Mario 3D Land and RE: Revelations which came out a long time ago already. I have to play Zelda but that's about it.

The other thing is I really wish Nintendo would make a 3DS XL more similar to the DS Lite. That was a sleek system at it's time. The last rant....Nintendo needs to have a god damn better resolution and better screen. I'm tired of the postage stamp bullshit. It's 2014 Nintendo!
It's all going to boil down to preference. I like the Mario stuff, and obviously I can't get that on Vita. I enjoy being able to basically carry around a portable NES plus all the newer stuff. Not a Pokemon fan, but my kids are.

Everything about this comment is bizarre. Not that the 3ds isn't wonderful, but it's a bit unusual for people to play a vita and then think better of their 3ds. And I don't think I've ever heard someone call the vita browser 'really nice', I feel like I'm paying it a compliment by calling it 'functional'.
Someone mentioned it earlier in the thread, but disabling JavaScript makes a ton of difference for the web browser. With it off, the browser is lightning fast. Just switch it off and turn it on as needed.

Just a heads up for you guys wanting the Vita TV. Got this e-mail from Amazon today:

Receive $10 off your pre-order of the PlayStation TV Bundle or the PlayStation TV Box with this exclusive code. Must be redeemed by July 15, 2014.

Has a code included to input during checkout, brings price down to 89.99/129.99

I'll be the dissenting voice and say sell. The game felt overly long and bloated to me. It's also just one 20 hour corridor with only the most minimal of side areas to explore. The combat isn't as good as in God of War. I couldn't wait for it to be over so I could move on to something else.

It's a completely serviceable game. But you aren't missing anything by skipping it.
I'll add this disclaimer to my recommendation: The story, atmosphere, and music are what mostly pulled me into this game. The gameplay isn't going to blow you away and it heavily borrows from other games, but it's well enough that the game was one of my faves from last gen. I definitely could have done with less wall climbing.

Ugh pre-ordered one already, didn't get a code.

Why is Ori and the Blind Forest on Xbone getting so much attention?
It's one of the only things that actually interested me during the conference, though I certainly wouldn't put it on a system selling pedestal like it sounds some are.

Of all the shitty, stupid, cringe inducing JRPG nonsense dialog I've read, I think Monster Monpiece takes the cake.
It's a game about rubbing on anime girls, what did you expect?

No you are right a lot of it is preference. I looked quickly on the top games on Metacritic for the 3DS and a good amount weren't my thing or I played already. I don't know I just felt like there were so many more games I connected with on the DS than on the 3DS. I also feel like the releases are slowing on the 3DS now. They had a great year but not sure what's next for the system. I guess Smash will be the next big one.

I'll echo this. If gameplay is all that matters to you, you would do ok to skip it.

I hear you about DS vs 3DS. We had 3 DSi and 1 fat DS before I snagged my 3DSXL (total of five now) and I bought my first 3DS game the other day. Unfortunately there is really no reason to buy a non 2DS/3DS because DS game production is basically over. I would have been happy getting a DSiXL to match my kids, but alas anything new is going to launch on 3DS. Now I get to explain to my kids that I'm not getting them a new handheld for the foreseeable future.

Uncharted/TLOU don't do it exactly. They use lower resolution models on normal gameplay, higher ones on cutscenes. I can't speak for MGS2/3 (they use different engines) but MGS4 did use the ingame engine.
I just remember times in Uncharted/TLOU/MGS4 where I would stand there thinking I was watching a cutscene, only to discover I was supposed to be playing. The stuff The Order is doing seems cool, but not something we haven't seen before.

I don't see the resemblance at all.

The killer apps are the four Picross games on the eShop.

 Please let up be up, down be down, right be right.....
I love (love love love) me traditional dual stick shooters -- they're my favorite genre of all time. But... luftrausers is a gem. The thrust based system really allows you to use stalling out effectively. But then again, the only control system I can't abide by is the 'tank' movement of some old ps1 games (i think Resident Evil and Tomb Raider iirc).

In Luftrausers it's rotate left, rotate right and thrust. There's gravity pulling you down. It's not that complicated, nor anything new in terms of control schemes, it's just a little odd in that it's a plane. That's the only thing you have to get use to. Give it another try.

Face it - you aren't going to like Nuclear Throne, though it is up/down/left/right. It's essentially twin-stick (well, except you aim with right, but actually shoot with trigger(s) - you are going to hate it).
Nuclear Throne is day 1 for me. Overall, I prefer my dual sticks to fire with the right (rather than require a trigger) but I'll get over that quickly.

You should pick up Novastrike some day. It's an older PSN game that never really got a fair shake... but it's absolutely fantastic. It's hybrid dual stick shooter -- you have weapons that fire with trigger, and then also a smaller machine gun that is dual stick. Your primary weapons are trigger based, though... the dual stick one is fairly weak.

You assault well protected bases, protect caravans and/or bases, and search/destroy. It's fantastic, though reviewers tended not to give it a shot (it's quite difficult). One of my favorite psn games, and criminally ignored.

Did you even have them on your radar before that? I recall them for Ridiculous Fishing. Then every website started publishing their stance against clones, which gave them exposure (the only indie getting cloned? OMG THE HORROR). Then one of them got their backpack stolen and that was newsworthy too. I'm just pointing out that they've received a major share of publicity, which does help.
None of that changes the fact that luftrausers is a fantastic dogfight score attack arcade game. I was aware of them due to the publicity, but gameplay is king. I mean, I heard of Spelunky due to publicity too but I don't particularly like platformers. (I'm hoping Rogue Legacy is good, though I fear it'll be too platformy for me as well.)

Trigger for fire in Nuclear Throne makes sense. They didn't just do it to F with you. For one thing some weapons are dangerous so need to be aimed, then fired. Like grenades and rocket launchers.

So a Dynasty Warriors Gundam Reborn theme but no game? Come on, I'd buy it!

(Says it isn't coming out until July 1st? Any word on a price or bonuses, etc)

Oh yeah, Frisky, my two year old says you are a bear.

And then "Aaah! I scared bears!"

[quote name="tylerh1701" post="11834193" timestamp="1402507239"]I know you guys are all trying to talk me out of it, but here's some La Mulana Vita gameplay:

You bought Spelunky a second time even though you hated it after the first purchase. You can't even talk yourself out of buying a game.

Anyone else pumped about Tetris on the vita?
Tetris DS was my last real go at Tetris, but I may be at the point where my Tetris meter has been filled for good. Probably depends on the online or what it brings to the table. Lumines on the other hand....I should play more.

Tetris DS was the last good rendition. I'm really hoping for a return to form.

Y'all know you can thrust in Luftrausers with R1 right? Because you can thrust in Luftrausers with R1 without pushing up on the d-dap/stick. That knowledge nugget greatly increased my enjoyment and handling of the control scheme when I discovered it by accident.
I prefer up on the dpad and can rack up top scores with it, but i've heard a lot of people like the trigger. Heck, some people even like the analog stick.

I think I might not buy anything else until I can make a nice dent in my PS3\360 backlog. I just fear it might be awhile.

Castlevania Lords Of Shadow: Play or Sell?
Is that the first one? Play. I haven't tried the second. It's an amalgamation of other games (and doesn't even try to hide its influences), but it's put together well.

It's a completely serviceable game. But you aren't missing anything by skipping it.
but tyler is correct here. you've played all the component parts before, they just put them together well.

Not only can you kill via boost, it should be your preferred killing methodology. I pretty much boost through the majority of the game.

Good ol' money-hatting MS. I know PS4 does this too (I think No Man's Sky is first on PS4) but MS seems to do it much much more frequently with indies.
From what I understand, the reasons are quite different. If you have a solid prototype, Sony will often offer to fund you if you need help in exchange for bringing it to vita/etc first.

With microsoft, that does happen too but another serious issue is their parity clause which requires them to be 'first' (or at least, tied for first). when they were dominant, that mean indies had to go xbox first or else risk losing a huge market. most small devs can't work on multiple versions at the same time -- vlambeer's experiences being a great example.

That same clause is now backfiring on them.

Googling -- here's the first article I found on it, though there are others I've read (i haven't read this one before)

Yup, that was me. I discovered/posted about it a month ago or so... such a massive difference, from constantly reloading and unusable to fast.

I know you guys are all trying to talk me out of it, but here's some La Mulana Vita gameplay:
Oh, now I know how to say Spelunky in Spanish at least.

Does Novastrike work on Vita? I will check it out.
ps3 only, unfortunately. but worth it. well, for you. not for tyler.
