FAQ's:

  • Amazon & Gamestop do not have a pre-authorization charge.
  • Bethesda Store and any of the Treehouse Brand Stores do not have a pre-authorization charge either.
  • Best Buy, NISA Store, Square-Enix Store all have a pre-authorization that goes away after 3-4 days or so, 7-10 days max.
  • All pre-orders with Paypal, you pay the full amount when the order is placed NOT when it is shipped.  This goes for every retailer that takes Paypal as a form of payment
  • Be cautious when going for free shipping from any Exclusive Store since they all use Digital River.  Say you order 2 CE's from S/E Store and they have different release dates, DR will wait till the last item comes out to ship yours.  Meaning (since Digital River sucks donkey balls), they could end up selling your pre-order on the first item to release and you could be SOL.  Also be careful ordering something to get your free shipping threshold as well because if the item goes OOS, then you have to wait for it to come back in stock.  This happened to many CAGs ordering the Lightning Returns CE from the S/E store because they ordered key chains that went OOS.
  • ^TL;DR Version:  If something goes out of stock or is not out yet, it will delay your order.

I'm not even sure about it myself, but I'm planning on going instore and changing my preorder from standard to the GE. I'm pretty sure $5 is the minimum for preordering at BB.

its the same game just getting a case for 26 bucks more probally could end up buying case off ebay for half that

just look at bravely default man those prices fell. Can barely break even on a new copy

First thing I did was go to eBay to see how many fail-flippers are trying to sell this. Some dumbass just ordered and listed three to flip, while there's countless others in the same price range that have sold nothing yet. I just don't get how CAG and slickdeal flippers are so bad at flipping.

People, don't eat up all the pre-orders without doing a little research first. Sure, it's funny when you get stuck with half a dozen copies that never sell, but it does get kind of annoying sometimes.

You're talking as if the soundtrack artbook and tarot cards are worthless (which they are not). Even if you valued those things for $10, I feel that the extras are worth $26 more. There have been much worse LE's sold for more and if atlus history repeats itself, this LE will resale at a good price (see Personal Solid Gold Premium edition)

cards and i think soundtrack come in the normal verison as well . so its just the case and artbook for 26 more

pretty sure persona was limited to a fix number.

Ys . Default, that one game just went to psn + none of the les went up that much if at all

i did order 2 of them one at 40 to see what ships (though i will cancel before the date probally) and one at the higher price. Just trying to talk myself into keeping the orders

Same here I haven't gotten it yet...should be in this week...but it's coming it a shopping bag at least....if I didn't have the case though that LE would be amazing to me.

Surprised you haven't received it yet. Where did you order from? I went with AmiAmi and they are always pretty good about shipping out quickly even if you only opt for SAL.

 
AmiAmi as well and SAL...I'm usually a patient guy but yeah this is taking a while. To be expected though since I think I had a Figma holding up the order till I paid in late June (was that gothic Cinderella Girl don't know her name but love the gothic fashion...though an anime is coming out later this year I believe for that).

best buy will be putting up the LE/Ghost editions of Destiny tomorrow according to their CS rep

also bungie.net is now allowing you to choose your beta platform, need to enter a beta key to get that far

Awesome, Im off tomorrow so I should be able to get a order in. Also, Im thinking about going with shipping instead of in-store pickup since there's a chance I wont be able to pick it up day one. I never had any issues before but I dont want to risk BB giving mine away.

I tend to do shipping on the nice stuff like this anyway, last thing I need is a pick up sticker covering that artwork.
 
If you are getting the Ghost edition it looks like its a plastic white box so a sticker wouldn't really harm it. I would assume the LE would be shrink wrapped.

The sticker they use is stupid regardless. It was better when it was a piece of tape with a paper slip attached. That sticker left residue on my Xbone box... >.>

I've never had issues with the sticker. When it's a non shrink wrapped item they don't even put it on there. My TF CE box didn't have it, just a paper with my name.

Some associates lack common sense unfortunately, I've had bad experiences with some collectors items (Bravely Default comes to mind) so I'll be going the online route.

Online route is definitely safest. I ordered my Bravely Default online and had no issues with the sticker. Definitely right about employees lacking common sense. "Here why don't I just stick this giant sticker on the middle of the box."

 
Best Buy poorly packaged both my Dark Souls II CE & Conception II LE and they were beat to hell when I got them, so good luck with that.  I'd rather take my chances with a sticker, personally.

My Conception IIs came crushed as well. I returned it in stores. Most of the time, their shipping is less risky.

Actually, it looks like the COD Black Ops II CE they did where it was a plastic box with a cardboard sleeve around it. There was no shrinkwrap that I can recall. Frankly, the picture is unclear if it's even a plastic box. The box looks like grey styrofoam to me.

Most bigger LEs aren't shrinkwrapped. The biggest one that I've seen shrinkwrapped is the COD: Ghosts Prestige Edition, nothing bigger that I've seen at least. I actually doubt that the Destiny one is, it looks bigger than that.

I've had good experiences with BB CE packaging and horrible experiences with it. When I ordered, Ys: Memories of Celceta LE, it was packed well and arrived in perfect condition. However, with the ACIV LE, they actually shipped it as is, without putting it in any kind of additional box or envelope. It arrived in terrible condition, but at the time, it was sold out at BB and everywhere else, so I just kept it. In retrospect, I probably should have complained to CS, but then again, it doesn't keep me up nights.

Definitely should have complained. If you are Elite Plus Best Buy will do everything to please you if they wronged you. I've gotten free gift cards from complaining when I got damaged games.

At the end of the day, the safest CE route is Game Stop in store. They always arrive in good condition and they usually never sell your copy.

I've had plenty of bad experiences with damaged games at GS with in-store preorders. On the plus side if they have additional copies you can sometimes get an undamaged one. On the negative side, I have sometimes been one of the few to preorder niche titles in fragile packaging and they don't have replacements nor other local stores with stock. As such, I now regularly preorder games I know will be rare at a minimum of two retailers so I have a better chance of getting a copy in good condition.

This is the strategy I implement as well. A lot of times I have a preorder at Game Stop as back up and I will keep the better copy. I've gone away from ordering from Amazon after hearing about all the horror stories.

im guess on the ACIV LE you ordered it when it went on sale after the game was already released correct? if so the item was shipped from a actual best buy store location not the warehouse which is why it was packaged that way. With Pre-orders thought best buy been the best packaging wise on Pre-Order CE's shipping I think compared to other national retailers.

 
At the end of the day, we all mainly go by our own personal experiences, and I've had no issues w/ anything I've preordered for in store pickup (including Y's, Bravely Default, etc.).  OTOH, I just got my copy of One Piece: Unlimited World Red in the mail (because it had no in-store pickup option) and the case is busted on the corner.  So for me BB shipping: -3, in-store pickup: +however many I've done.

In store it is.

The Destiny LE is only $5 more than the game plus season pass a la carte. That & Steelbook is why I did it.

If you were buying the regular game with unlocked and the expansion pass for $35, then the limited edition with unlocked would be $3 cheaper than buying them separately. Even though I can now get the expansion for free with the credit I got from the GameStop promo, I'll probably still get the limited edition
