Xbox One - General Discussion Thread
Except my comment was about the color scheme and nothing to do with Xbox, maybe you guys should quit being so insecure about the Xbox brand and realize people can have opinions that differ from your own? eastx even said he isn't a big fan of camo, so even though he kind of agrees with me he still had to take that subtle jab at me to try and provoke me into an argument.. interesting isn't it?
That's where the 9/10 comes in. You often come across as being heavily biased against Xbox. It isn't about being insecure, but being tired of the fairly consistent groaning and moaning. I may be putting words in people's mouths and I'm not trying to insult you. This is just how I feel you come across and what others seem to think based on what they have posted. I do think you have made some valid points in the past and even some positive things about Microsoft. It just seems like a large portion of the time it is negative just to be negative.

I don't really want to add any more and entirely derail things like has happened in the past. Hopefully that comes across as constructive and not a personal attack.

Now... Destiny?! Woohoo!

I'm with Rippn on the camo controller. I don't like it much. I do like my digital camo Dualshock 3 and owned camouflage cargo pants ( that converted to shorts via zippers!) as a teenager. I just don't like the style used on the controller.

You don't change, do ya? :) I'm not a big camo fan but I love having differently colored controllers. I'll pick this one up as my fourth.
If you're allowed to have an opinion, I don't see why he isn't.

I've already talked to him and he's toned it way down, so take it easy.

I was hoping for a Destiny controller but it looks like Sony pooped all over that. Here's to hoping for a slick Halo one. I can see there being a Halo 5 LE controller next year and a sunset overdrive one this year.

There will be a SE Halo Xbox One no doubt. They might release a controller for the Master Chief collection

If they do one similar to this with translucent plastic, blue LED and all that, I'll be all over it.  By far was the best looking 360 controller to date in my opinion.

Good news but unfortunately not the sales bump they were hoping for. Folks over at Neogaf estimate they sold  around 160k consoles in June (5 Week NPD) compared to 77k in May (4 Week NPD) not to mention people mentioned that in May consumers may have held off purchases for the Kinect Less SKU but they didn't see a huge increase.

In comparison the Xbox 360 sold  141k units in June last year. The PS4 sold about 49.25k units per week in May where as the Xbox One sold about 30k units per week in June.

NPD Is supposed to come up tomorrow so we'll see the full results.

you can't compare 360 sales last year to x1 sales this year for many reasons mostly games. A system selling 160 k units when it's the dead time for gaming in summer and lack of games out for system is not bad at all. Also can't compare ps4 sales in may when a big game like watch dogs is out to no game month in june.

Im not really a fan of anything camo, so the new controller is a no go for me. Im waiting for a white one.

MS will definitely come in second again tomorrow. They're not horrible numbers, but I was expecting more.

Those sales numbers are disappointing, but we'll see later today. If X1 beats PS4 for one month that isn't in the holiday then thats a decent victory for them. Have a feeling even with the cheaper price point X1 is not going to take 2nd place, even in the US, at least for a few years.

I think Microsoft made a strong argument for the One coming off E3. I had sworn off the One up until pretty much E3. The game lineup (especially Halo Master Chief Collection) just looks stronger right now. The funny thing is when I decided to get it my original impulse was to get the kinect-less version but after really thinking about it I ended up dropping the extra $100 for the kinect version (free Forza also made for a strong argument...). I'm really enjoying it and even my fiancée who was skeptical about needing yet another video game system is enjoying all the kinect/voice control functions for TV.

I think there are a lot of people who aren't even willing to give it a shot. When set up properly it works better than you'd expect. It could still be improved, but it is easily better than how well the 360 version worked.

well ms announced they are laying off close to 11 k people by end of next year. Most of those will be from the merger they had with nokia

with system sales it's so hard to sell systems at this point in year seems like thanks to price drop x1 got a boost and ps4 seems like it's slowing down. This fall is huge for both companys and sony not having legit first party title this fall might help x1 make some ground with sunset and halo collection.

Aside from not even giving it a chance:
Yeah it's so sad how many people even keep to the age old features of the system. Research that shit folks., like 24 hour online checks.

So, I didn't realize there's a way to make it so that it only sends an "On" signal to my TV.  As in, no "toggle", it purely does "On", even if the TV is already On.  Seems to be working amazingly well.

The future is in my living room.  And pants.  But mostly my living room.

Microsoft is shutting down the Xbox Entertainment studios which were supposed to be responsible for the Xbox Original Programming. Microsoft has stated that the Halo TV series will continue to be developed but it assumed everything else is dead.

I believe they stated they wanted to close them in order to focus on their video game studios more which while isn't a bad thing it's kind of disappointing considering how strongly they pushed this not even a year ago. I won't say I was excited for what they may have offered but given how well Netflix has been at making their own TV series Xbox could have had something good on their hands.

Can't say I'm surprised after the backlash they received at last year's E3 about not being about games. Probably don't feel like they will get a return on investment and are cutting their losses.

Biggest surprise from the NPD was that the Xbox 360 version of Watch Dogs outsold the Xbox One version.

PS4 was the best selling system of the month (Not exactly a surprise though), and was also the top selling software system of the month.

Something that's interesting is people are saying that Microsoft has had access to the NPD for at least a few days now but instead decided to use their own internal sales figures for the Xbox One.

Uh... apparently the numbers Microsoft gave yesterday are not official NPD numbers.
let me guess you got done eating your cake to celebrate ps4 being number one again.

in more annoying npd news mincraft is still top five game was number 3 in june Dang it this game world is going down hill

should not be shocked with that number for watch dogs. the giant install base of 360. Compared to ps3 i think the 360 base are the ones that are holding out on jumping to next gen the most. At this point i could careless about sale numbers but i think with ps4 having pretty much no big ps4 only games this fall which is not the case with x1 which will be a big telling how well x1 does rest of it's life.

Please stop trying to start something.
plz stop saying stuff with out info about it i just googled and did not find any numbers of xbone sales just ps4/wii u/ 3ds at least yesterday i link to article about it.

oh by the way it's starting to leak that xbone sales were arund 155 k so yeah that's just about microsoft numbers

You say you don't care about sale numbers but you pointed out yesterday that Xbox One sales "doubled" last month.

Master Chief collection and Sunset Overdrive should have a positive impact for Microsoft this holiday. Even if they werent first this month the important thing for them is that their numbers have gone up. Its something to build on at least.

I pulled this info from Ahsan Rasheed ‏@thuway on twitter so not nothing official at the moment but this guy is pretty realible every month with regards to NPD.

But the giant install base of the Xbox 360 can't be considered if the smaller install base of the PS4 outsold it. That being said what's to say the PS3 base is holding out on jumping next gen to? PS3 sales were still a massive head over what the current PS4/Xbox One sales are so it seems odd just saying people aren't upgrading from the Xbox 360 but not mentioning the PS3.

PS4 is going to have Drive Club, and supposedly Little Big Planet 3 won't hit PS3 until next year so there's that. So basically two games for two games for the Xbox One.

Cool stuff.

Anyone excited for NFL Sunday Ticket coming to consoles? I read the IGN comments and people talking about how expensive it is. If you pay for the MAX package it's only $20 every Sunday. That's a steal. I go to the bar to watch every game and I spend that before halftime of the 1 o'clock games.

The price is more reasonable now than years ago.. but not as good as last year with Madden.

I, for one, would rather spend my cash at the bar.. which, unless there is another Madden-like offer, is where I'll be. =)

That's what I thought. Yeah, I have no idea what Microsoft is trying to do with their PR then.

It's still way too expensive compared to MLB.tv. $130 for 6 months of 15 games a day every day vs 17 days of 13 games a day at nearly triple the price.

There's probably a bit of truth to the notion that more 360 owners are holding off on upgrading than PS3 owners.

The 360 had a ton more of that CoD/Madden type of gamer. The online communities were always a lot bigger on 360. And a lot of those gamers aren't really early adopter types. They probably got their 360s after playing CoD 4 or Gears 1 etc. at a buddies place rather than near launch.

Sony has always remained more popular with the hardcore gamer crowd who loves the Japanese/niche/indie games they have among their exclusives, along sigh all the mainstream stuff. And that crowd does early adopt at high rates.

This fall will be telling with Advanced Warfare and Halo collection. One would have thought Titanfall would have moved more units. But it was a new ip and being crossgen cut down on incentive to upgrade, especially for the more casual gamers.

I'm way excited for this news. I usually talk DirecTV into giving Sunday Ticket to me free each year, but I have to agree to pay them all year for service I barely use which results in $500 - $600 annually. Now I can drop DirecTV and just pay for Sunday Ticket. Sounds good to me and will save me hundreds.

Unless you live in New York, San Francisco, Philadelphia or a place where you can't receive directv service, you still need the service to get NFL Sunday Ticket. Also 10 colleges have the offer as well http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2014-07-17/directv-expands-nfl-sunday-ticket-streaming-to-10-universities.html

I would have done this last year with the Madden 25 offer, but I live in a house that can receive directv service. While Sunday ticket is nice and it could be coming to me soon because of att's possible merger with directv, I really only need NFL Redzone. Since that only costs 9 bucks a month on uverse and comes with other channels as well, its more than enough. Redzone is the greatest thing ever invented haha.

My brother is finally getting to dig into the XBox One I gave him for Christmas. (he was tied up with other duties earlier in the year) It sounds like he's really enjoying Titanfall, and he's been downloading some of the free games available to XBox Live subscribers. Apparently it's common for people in the Pacific Northwest to "hibernate" a little during the winter, so he will probably get plenty of time with his new toy once October sets in.

He's also been getting to try out the Project Spark beta. That's got me a little jealous. Really looking forward to hearing more about Project Spark.

Hey RiPPn... how do you manage to get Sunday Ticket free? I have had DirecTV for approximately 14 years, if that matters.
I read his post as he's able to call and threaten to cancel, and they offer him a year of Sunday Ticket for signing another 1 year contract for whatever plan he's on. I've heard of them doing that before.

They also gave a year free last year (or the year before?) if you signed a two-year contract and payed for Sunday Ticket the second year.
