Surprisingly The Last Movie You Saw Didn't Suck Pt. 2

Finally saw Transformers: Age of Extinction.

And...I liked it. The plot moved well for the most part, there weren't any human characters I wanted to die (unlike all the non-military humans in the past 3 films), the Autobots got some development, and though their screentime was brief, the Dinobots rocked.

It was too long, though, and I am not a big fan of Drift, however.
 
The Purge: Anarchy Premiere - 4/5 - I loved the mazed scene. Everyone is rooting at Frank Grillo everytime he shot them down one by one. The girl and her mother was freaking annoying. Overall, I enjoyed this film better than the first.

 
Heathers- Finally saw the whole thing. I only saw the ending when I was a kid and that was weird. Never thought Winona Ryder was that hot until this movie, and Shannon Doherty was so baby-faced!  In an alternate universe, they would've made Ryder's character Jack Bauer or something, considering all those spook shows are so concerned about terrorist attacks.

 
It was a Sandra Bullock weekend!!!

The Heat - I enjoyed this more than I should have.  Melissa McCarthy is pretty funny and all the cursing still makes me laugh because I have the maturity of an eighth grader.  The plot was dumb but there were some solid laughs.  3/5.

Gravity - I didn't really love this like I think I should have.  It was good and entertaining (what more do you want?) but there was almost no story, no character development and it was entirely predictable.  That said, the 3D was ridiculously great - first time I think it actually added something to the movie.  It looked wonderful on my 65" plasma so bonus points for that.  2.5/5.

Yeah the original which not a lot of fans even know about. It was excellent and it really pushed the envelope back then. I do think Paul Muni was a better Tony compared to Pacino who was just screen chewing on a scale of 10.
 
Snowpiercer was super crazy and awesome! Also very funny at times. Some scenes were absolutely hilarious. And I loved the ending. It was perfect.

Joy Ride 3: Roadkill

Just a fun movie all around. Had a few laughs. Rusty is one bad mofo. Barry's death scene has to be in Top 10 Horror Movie Deaths, that shit was gruesome it hurts just watching it...

 
The Tale of Zatoichi:

I could see why they made so many movies on the character;he is just so damn likable and badass. Looking forward to the rest of the series!
 
Dawn of the planet of apes - 9.5/10 - Koba was fantastic. Hail Caesar.

Grand Budapest Hotel - 8/10 - Typically charming Wes Anderson movie.

Sabotage - 4/10 - A bag of wank,such a hot mess. Had high hopes for this one.

Bad Words - 8/10 - Probably shouldn't have enjoyed it as much as I had but it was a really fun film. I didn't find the kid annoying like in most films but I could see quite a few viewers getting annoyed by him.

Blue Ruin - 8/10 - It was a good movie, recommend a watch. 

 
First Blood. I felt sad for Rambo, and it's a poignant commentary on how America treats their veterans, even if they don't escalate to the stuff seen in movies. Wow, David Caruso was young, so sad Rambo stabbed him in the leg.

 
Oblivion - I liked this more than I thought I would.  It was actually quite good even though I didn't understand how a HUGE piece of the plot would even be possible (after suspending disbelief of the entire premise). 
Was it just a giant coincidence that Tom Cruise's wife was orbiting the Earth all those years?  And how did the Scavs/human survivors know the code to make her pod land?

 
Vacancy

good suspensful movie but too many cheap jump scares, Kate Beckinsale was good here but not the guy, he just seemed a bit off. Ending was abrupt I give it 3/5

 
Aliens:

First time watching it on blu-ray,and it's still awesome after seeing so many times. Shame James Cameron doesn't make films like this anymore,and instead just wants to focus on shitty Avatar.

Rio Grande:

A John Ford and John Wayne western which you can't go wrong with.

3 Godfathers:

Same as above.

Out of the Past:

Excellent noir.
 
Guardians of the Galaxy: 6/10

The first half was absolutely awful. The second half picked up. Bradley Cooper almost ruined the entire movie for me. Batista was awesome.

 
But I don't want Bradley Cooper and Jennifer Lawrence to our generation's Cary Grant and Ingrid Bergman!

Anyway finally saw Gremlins, and it was quite a unique experience considering how the puppets were used. I was both terrified and laughing in a... very similar feeling to the Evil Dead. Phoebe Cates is HAWT, though that's a pretty effed up story. Also gotta give props to the mother, since she took out three Gremlins in one scene, badass!

I don't know if it's my dislike of their acting style or just that they come out in everything nowadays. I'd say it's a little of both. Regardless, I did not dislike either movie. Though, the whole gambling plot near the end of Silver Linings was just pointless.

 
Into the storm and Guardians of the Galaxy. 

Into the storm was a decent to good disaster movie with the icarly boy and Rick Grimes wife acting decent. Good special effects. 7/10

Only Avengers and Winter Soldier was better than Guardians of the Galaxy. The whole cast was great. 9/10

 
Hercules is pretty awesome. I recommend it to anybody who enjoys the 300 movies. It had that vibe to me. Very simple story with a healthy dose of action. Dwayne Johnson kicked ass (literally too) as Hercules.

 
Grand Budapest Hotel

I love Wes Anderson's style. Grand Budapest is very much like his other flicks and had a lot of fun watching it.

Layer Cake

The plot was a bit of a mess and I had no idea what was going on by the second half. But Daniel Craig made the movie and any scene without him I was getting bored. Loved the soundtrack and cinematography, just didn't care about the other characters.

He was okay in The Hangover but he was beyond awful in Guardians.

I don't think it's anything against him. It was his performance. The writer/director was trying to make some Rocket memes and Cooper made it obvious with his horrific delivery.

If the movies suck and Diaz' ass is the only drawing point, I'd rather just watch 8 minutes of a porno.

I had to google it as soon as the movie started. Once you realize it's intentional it didn't bother me in the least. It's somewhat interesting how the aspect ratio changes depending on what part of the timeline there in.

 
The United States of Leland - Starring Ryan Gosling as a young teen who kills a mentally challenged kid. The whole point of the movie is to find out why he killed him. It wasn't a bad movie, but it wasn't the greatest either. It was boring at times though. 

 
They can totally do the Thunderbolts. Be even neater if they introduced some of the members in Avengers/Captain America movies first, even if briefly.
