Amazon tends to offer lower everyday prices on their anime, and often run sales on Funimation items routinely. Keep track on your favorites or check your daily deal's for a possible 5% off of some based off your history on Amazon.

I grabbed it when came out for like $22. I've watched most of the first Blu so far and it seems fine to me. All of the blood, gore, and language is still there. I usually take that stuff pretty well but some scenes in Deadman still make me cringe a bit.

I loved the original Funimation Frieza dub. That feminine voice made the character ten times more creepy. Hated what they did with the Kai dub. Though, honestly, I have a hard time watching any DBZ without the Bruce Faulconer score--that's what made the show for me.

I like the visual aspect of kai. It's a sight to see and the fact that it isn't all filler makes it so much more better. However, the voice work is terrible for the best characters. I can't watch the Cel saga. Gohan is 9 I believe and still sounds like a woman while fighting Cel. It is also even more expensive to collect than the original Funi dub.

He is actually 11.

And you say this like women voicing young boys is an uncommon thing. Young Gohan has always been voiced by women (Saffron Henderson, then Stephanie Nadolny, now Colleen Clinkenbeard) and the majority of young boys in both American and Japanese shows are voiced by women. Hell, in English dubs of Japanese products, about the only children to get hired (as reoccurring characters and now background filler) were Haley Joel Osmet for Kingdom Hearts 1 and Aaron Dismuke for the first Fullmetal Alchemist.

Technically he is 9 but the hyperbolic time chamber ages you rapidly if what i am reading is correct

I have no problem with women voicing young boys but there is a problem when the character sounds more feminine than normal which throws off any seriousness the dub is trying to portray especially with the case of the Cell saga when Gohan sounds like a complete girl in a situation that basically shows off his masculinity as a saiyan.

Again i have no problem whatever works but at least make it work.

 
Sorry guys, I know we were finally able to get away from talking about Cowboy Bebop for a few minutes, but I couldn't let this go by.

The Cowboy Bebop blu rays are not going to be simply upconverted SD discs.  So long as Funimation uses the same source material as the Japanese and UK blu rays (and I have no reason to think they wouldn't) it will have (mostly) HD video and 5.1 lossless audio.  The only parts that will be upconverted will be the CGI animation.  Everything animated on film will be 1080i HD.

That DBZ movie may be the first DBZ related thing I ever actually buy, mostly because the movie was more like Dragon ball, and less like Drag on ballz

Lol I do but we usually make trades and these are some of my extras I don't need. He has nothing to trade so this situation is born lol. Also half of it is new so I didn't want it opened.
 
Just noticed that the Amazon one piece collection 2 is "Zolo" instead of Zoro lol. Is that what they call him in the dub?

As I said earlier, I think some amazon person slapped that together and went by what 4kids called him. Funi called him Zoro. Or for some god-awful reason that could be the 4kids dub, since that's about as far as it went. (well, I think it actually stopped right after alabaster, so not quite there)

 
Princess jellyfish is going for about 25$ on amazone brand new. I guess it's due to the save edition coming out.

Funny thing is that the SAVE edition coming out is DVD only I believe. Just like the Baka and Test SAVE editions...so dumb.

It is but you know they inflate prices when stuff goes oop. Most likely they couldn't sell em all. Ex. Eureaka seven part 1 and 2 suddenly becoming available and really cheap.

Thanks for the info. I hope for all the people that prefer One Piece dubbed (could never get into this particular dub myself likely due to 4kids years ago) that is not the case!

 
I for one could never fully invest myself into one piece. You'd have this super kickass arc and then the following arc would be complete shite. In between all of that you'd have tons of filler. Doesn't make much sense to collect it seeing as there are well over 200 episodes and the series is no where near being finished from what ive heard.
 
Good thing naruto is ending. Perhaps they can release the full series since the original is super hard to find and shippuden is costly for the amount of episodes on each set.


Also since when does rightstuf buy things?

Just got my check from fye for the gundam stuff I sold. It wasn't the 45 I was promised. Got a letter saying the isbn number on the one I selected and the one I sent didn't match up so rather than give me back the one operation they gave me 50 cents for it. If I would've known better I would've sold operation 4 on eBay for a whole lot more since for some reason it's super rare. Oh well live ans learn

I can understand how people may be intimidated by One Piece's length; however, I feel that it is one of the most comprehensive, well-detailed series with very little holes. A lot of events left open are usually touched upon later on and closed. I think Oda does a great job in what he does. I've been reading and watching One Piece since 2003 and it's my favorite long-running series. I was really into Naruto when the manga came out in 1999, but it's been just so drawn out to the point where I really don't care what happens in the end already. Considering that Kishimoto must have made his millions already, he needs to bring it to a conclusion. Unlike Oda who already knows how he wants to end One Piece, I think Kishimoto never expected Naruto to get as big as it was (past-tense because it's not the powerhouse it used to be about a decade ago when people would be wearing the headbands as fashion and doesn't know what kind of ending he'd be satisfied with.

Also pre-ordered the Chuunibyou set. It's the same price as if it were on sale. Unfortunately, I no longer have a GA? membership since I don't order from RightStuf as religiously anymore. Even if I were to buy the membership (and I know the nice folks over there would apply the discount to my open orders), most of the items I have pre-ordered are not eligible for the discount. :(
