I forgot about your download cap, Nate.

And what's this about MUT cards from Madden 25 on 360 transferring over to the Xbox One version? I never got that option when I downloaded the Xbox One version. Must it be activated via the 360 game?

Thanks. Link won't load, but I found it manually. I guess I didn't notice it since I only played Madden 25 on Xbox One for a few days via EA Access before Madden 15 early access began.

Jeez, they aren't even giving pucks this year, looks like you get packs based on a number of factors. At least with pucks you could buy some cards you wanted. I'm sure you will get garbage from these packs.

http://www.easports.com/nhl/news/2014/nhl-15-hockey-ultimate-team-returning-user-bonus
I actually prefer the packs after having just opened all of mine... I was awarded 23 packs that are 12 items/4 rare. Which are roughly are a little bit better than the packs that cost 8,750 and are 12 cards all gold and 3 rare. That being said, those equal to just over 200k pucks. Out of the 23 packs I might of had a total of 10 cards that weren't gold and the ones that weren't were rare silver.

My 3rd or 4th to last pack was a very nice pull with an 88 ovr Lehtonen and an 87 ovr Turris.

Out of the 23 packs these were the player highlights (OVR listed then player):

86 Hanzal
84 Boychuk
84 Saad
83 Jenner
85 Hartnell
88 Lehtonen
83 Tim Thomas
84 Justin Schultz
84 Coyle
87 Turris
84 Braun
83 Killorn
85 Higgins
85 Laich (2x)
83 Orpik

Plus a lot of others between 80-83. Overall I feel like it was much better than getting the pucks considering last year the cap for pucks was 150k I believe.

Also I was really hoping they were going to do this for HUT and they did... Like Madden, you can now choose team specific arenas.

I can understand why you might appreciate that...but it also makes people LOADED before the game is even out, lol. Not much fun opening the game up and facing somebody's 99 OVR team in your first game.

Yea, the stupid affiliate link is screwing it up. the transfer was a nice feature because I could build my high chemistry teams on 360 then just transfer those over to XB1 to get those harder to get MUT achievements on both.

Wow, that is a pretty decent haul there. How much did you play last year to get 23 packs out of the max of 30? Are the cards tradeable though? People on the forums were bitching that they werent tradeable. For someone starting out it looks like you can build a pretty nice team from those packs but I feel you probably played a bunch of games of NHL 14 HUT to get that many starter packs.

Also, just read someone say that there are no offline tournaments in HUT, only online ones? Is that true?

The NHL cards are NEVER tradeable or sellable

This is why I had a fire sale. Out of everything I owned, I made out with just a little over 5 million pucks.

Even better.

-No EASHL

-No OTP

-No NHL 94 Mode

-There are no offline seasons in HUT

-There are no tournaments in HUT

-You cannot play a friend in HUT

-No Winter Classic

-No GM Connected

-No Shootout

-No Live the Life

-No be a CHL Pro

-No be a NHL Pro

-Being drafted is now just a random assignment to a team, no way to influence when you are drafted

-You cannot draft players in Be A GM Mode

-No fantasy draft in Be A GM Mode

-No be a Legend Mode

-No Season Mode

-No Tournament Mode

-No Playoff Mode

-No Battle For The Cup

-No Creation Zone

-No Edit Team

-No Edit Player

-No Customize AI

-No Build Your AI

-No Create A Play

-No Custom Music

-No simming between shifts in Be A Pro Mode

Yeah, that's such a shitty policy. In a lot of ways, HUT is run with no business sense. The entire objective of the mode should be to get people hooked. And if you're just throwing worthless cards at people, the only people you're going to hook are the fanboy suckers (sorry to anyone that offends, lol). It's even more ridiculous when you have pre-order bonuses and EA Season Ticket packs that you can't sell/trade.

I remember in Madden 12, everything about MUT came so easily...and I had so much fun with it, I played it constantly and I actually did spend money on 3-4 legend packs. I haven't done that since then. Why? Because they started trying way too hard to get me to spend money. Make a fun mode, and let your profits come naturally. Try to strong arm me into it and insult my intelligence, and I'm out.

I get that Ultimate Team revenue has increased the past few years. But I would think that would have more to do with more people playing the mode overall than money being spent on a "per person" basis.

Also, I might go look for a Twitch stream in a minute, but what does the NHL 15 full menu look like? I would think it would look pretty barren (or at least not as many offshooting branches). Did they do anything to busy it up with extra graphics or anything?

I understand what you mean, but at the same time, if someone has a stacked team and can't even get out of the beginning bracket... Chances are they won't be too good. It's like the guys I'd see last year that couldn't get out of the middle divisions with teams of Ovi, Sid, Dats, Weber, Keith, and Rinne.

I'm not positive on the exact number, but I believe it was around 500 games that I played in 14.
Yes, very disappointed that there are no offline (or online) tournaments. You either have against CPU or Seasons mode. As Vulcan said, no trades or selling of Reward packs and pre-order packs.

From what I have seen it doesn't look much different from the menu in the demo, if you saw that. There are some photos here of the hut cards and menus. Looks pretty barren.

Edit - some more pictures of the full menus and player creator:

From what I have seen and read this game is gutted. Hockey is such a niche sport, that this could really destroy the franchise.

I'll test it out when I get home after I download the 20 gigs, but my expectations are next to nothing at this point.

WOW...I am floored. I can't believe they're seriously going to defend all of that with the "people weren't using it" argument. The arrogance to just "decide" that people don't need these features is unreal. Taking out the ability to edit players? A freaking fully automated draft? It's like a fucking communist hockey game, lol. What a piece of shit.

EDIT - Holy crap, I just noticed for Be A Pro - "No option to sim ahead to your next shift". EA is seriously going to make you watch 2/3 of the game from the bench, lmao. My God. It's like they're finally coming out of the closet about how much they hate their customers.

Well, yeah...I can agree with that. I guess the larger point is, why even have the European/CHL players then? If you can get an all-star team on day one...there's no point in actually progressing or developing anybody.

Wow...yeah, that second link from OS shows it all. I understand that the design is meant to be minimalistic (Madden's is too). But what's funny (sad) for NHL 15 is there's NOTHING beyond those 7 tiles, lol. That's it. The words on those tiles are literally all there is. Just a total embarrassment this year. I really hope people can stick to their guns and not support this crap. EA doesn't deserve it.

I posted that Rob, scroll up a bit.
Did you edit that in, because I only saw your post about the fire sale?

Anyway, I have no returning user bonus packs as far as I can tell. I'd have to boot up 14 to be sure, but I had 70,000 pucks and a hundred or so players, so you'd think I'd get a few at least. Not that it matters, since this won't purchased for a very long time.

By the way, in the demo, I saw Lundqvist without his helmet and it looked nothing like him. Seriously. What did they do? Just terrible.

HA...just saw this post on OS.

Yeah... They took me out beginning of 2nd period and had to watch the rest of the game from the bench.... Wasting away some of my 6 hours with the game.
That would really be hilarious if it wasn't so sad. EA puts a time limit on the game, then imposes a mode where you can't actually play.

The claim by EA apologists was that actual player likenesses weren't included in the demo because they weren't ready yet. We'll see if that ends up being true or not.

I finally found where to go for the returning user bonus and man, does EA like screwing me. 8 packs, which seems about right. I'd say of the 10 best players I go, 8 were defenseman.

Another post on OS raised a good point...even freaking Ultimate Team in NHL 15 is a joke compared to say Madden or FIFA. In those games, you've got the tournaments, solo challenges, etc. In NHL 15, it's online season or vs CPU. That's it.

I'm starting to think that the breathing fans, authentic arenas (which NHL 2K10 had), four referees, and flapping jerseys are the only things they worked on...in 1.5'ish years of development, lol. I'd love to know how that doesn't translate to "bad at your job". I just hope the reviews reflect this and we don't get BS nuthugger journalism.

EDIT - Every time I look at that damn list something different pisses me off. No top 3 stars at the end of the game? Really??? Pretty sure NHL 95 had more features than this trash game.

They need to either move this franchise to a new development team or just can it altogether, this year's game appears to be an absolute embarrassment.  Am I living in some alternate universe where this year's Madden is really good and the hockey game is complete shit?

I think an argument could be made that it's been like this for the past 3 years...possibly even 4.

But yeah, if Ramjagsingh isn't fired after this, you might as well give up on this series for the foreseeable future. And honestly, it wouldn't surprise me to see it get canned. Apparently, NHL 14 sold 850K copies (a number that has been decreasing every year). If EA doesn't feel like it can justify the resources to improve the game, and this is the product that gets put out, you have to wonder how they'll feel about it.

Don't worry guys, you'll forget all about 3 stars of the game and action tracker replays when you see the flapping jerseys.

According to Marisa Roberto's fine ass on EP Daily, Ramjagsingh's pals affectionately refer to him as "Rammer". Fitting.

I noticed that the players look better than in the demo and are more in tune with the realistic arenas. Skating felt a little tighter. I was having fun. But it was all downhill from there.

How is HUT still this terrible? It's not even a new-gen thing. It's a "this mode has always sucked" thing. And now no tournaments? They made the scant few modes they didn't purge even shittier.

MUT has improved tremendously from the time it launched as DLC til now. MUT is super user friendly, provides tons of single player content, and rewards you fairly. HUT provides no incentive for me to invest much time. Can't even change my team name, and I'm 0-1 since the game crashed during the 2nd period of my first solo HUT game.

There are now about 10 times as many selectable faces for Be A Pro... yet somehow there is no more variety than there was before with 12 faces to choose from. And the announcer names don't even include "Young"! But I can be referred to as "Matt". Yay.

Got drafted 11th overall for no apparent reason by the Nashville Predators as a 2 way forward on the left wing. Haven't played a BAP game yet due to football starting soon after I finished character creation. You skip the pre-season and start off in the NHL regular season. Wonder if you can even be demoted to the AHL.

Aww, I read that wrong. I was at least hoping you could be Matt Yayo.

And yeah, according to that OS thread, BAP is NHL only. No AHL. No demotions.

But yeah, ever since they announced all the modes taken out of the game, people have been asking "Well, what improvements have been made to the modes that are in the game?" They never answered that question, and now we know why, haha. There weren't any. They actually made them worse.

Be A GM: Can't draft your own players.

Be A Pro: No CHL or AHL, have to watch game from bench when not playing.

HUT: No tournaments, can't play vs friends.

They really shouldn't have even released the game. They're lucky that they at least started from a point of having decent gameplay, otherwise this would probably be NBA Elite 11.

Based on the list of left out modes I may not even waste the time to download the early access.

Edit - Yep, Xbox One Minecraft came out today.  Messing with that instead.

I know it's only $5 to upgrade from the 360 version...but I'm not sure how many times I can do the same thing in that game, lol. Maybe if it were moddable, that would be different. There are some pretty insane Minecraft mods on PC.

I do like the discount for previous owners and world importing, and the skin packs are like the tables in Pinball FX in that if you owned them on 360 they show up as $0 to download on the one.

The upgraded world size and draw distance was a big part of it for me.  I may not have picked it up right away at $20 but for $5 it's worth it to me.

Yeah, I haven't played the 360 version in a long ass time...but it always lagged behind the PC version in features anyway. I'll probably pick it up at some point. I'm just not really knocking over old ladies to get to it, haha. Between Rust and 7 Days To Die, I'm a little burnt out on the open-ended games. At least with 7 Days to Die, we've got crazy physics things going on and enemies whose behaviors vary a bit.

Ughhh...another fucking Comcast service outage. Scheduled to be repaired by 5 am. Second time this week. Love it. I'm glad I only pay $75 a month for internet...with a bandwidth limit. Yay, capitalism....

Wooo....it's fixed. Let's see how long this lasts, haha.

I know Gary was tempted by NHL 15 on Xbox 360. I hope this talks you out of it, Gary.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xn5XHhd9zbc

So, they spent no time on the 360/PS3 version of the game and the XB1/PS4 version is stripped of almost everything. I'm starting to think they just played Cookie Clicker for two years.

I do have Titanfall and would love an excuse to get Garden Warfare, though since I need to renew my Gold in the next few days, I may not be able to do.
I am confused as to what that has to do with the post you quoted. But if you have Titanfall on Xbox One, would you like to play together sometime?

I finally found where to go for the returning user bonus and man, does EA like screwing me. 8 packs, which seems about right. I'd say of the 10 best players I go, 8 were defenseman.
Where was it, I couldn't find it, then again I was half asleep by the time the game finally downloaded and installed. I didn't play a ton of HUT last year but I figured I would have at least qualified for a few packs.

As for NHL 15 being the same as 14 on the 360 it is not surprising since Madden did the same thing this year but at least Madden on XB1 has all the features of the 360 version.

I played a bit and while I like the new commentary, I couldn't find much else that I liked. It is a bit prettier sure, but seemed like the same old stuff happening over and over again. The entire team in charge of developing and marketing this game should be fired for releasing a game in this state with all the features gutted like this. I feel like some of the NHL games on Sega Genesis had more features that this does. Just hope the reviews are as bad as this game deserves. I could really see this game going into a death spiral after this debacle. I can't even believe it sells almost a million copies now considering how niche the sport is. This debacle won't increase those numbers...

Yellow Comic Sans, Matt. Yellow Comic Sans.

And just because I like this one too, I'm going to use it.

Somebody dug up Ramjagsingh's quote on why NHL 14 wasn't coming to next gen systems. I was really wanting to read this one again. Hilarious stuff.

Q: I know there’s not going to be a next-generation version of NHL 14 this year. Was there a reason for this? Was there not enough lead time up to when your studio got the final build of the Xbox One and PlayStation 4? Or did you want to just make sure you had a better quality product to put out the following year?

Sean Ramjagsingh: We wanted to be focused on putting out the best game for this console generation. It’s fantastic that we focused all of our efforts on PS3 and 360. The great thing about EA Sports right now is the sharing that we’re doing. The UFC and FIFA franchises; those guys are figuring out how to develop for next-generation consoles and the technological challenges that come with developing for new consoles.
So they have to figure that part out and then build features on top of that. For us, since we’re coming in later on, we won’t have to battle all those technological issues because they’ve figured them out already. This lets us focus more on the features which is something fans can appreciate…

The Xbox deal looks tempting, but ultimately, it comes do to the fact that there are not enough games I want that are different from the ones I have in my backlog. I would have bought one just for NHL for 15, because there isn't anything like it on PC, but alas...

I was even thinking of getting NHL as the free game since I wouldn't have to pay for it, but MS would likely pay for it though, so I decided against it.

We should do a GM league where we all play on the same team again.
