Destiny (PS3/PS4) Official Thread

Xur really wants me to finish leveling up my Titan. I've bought 3 engrams from him since the game came out and they have all been Titan gear. 2 Insurmountable Skullforts and 1 Crest of the Alpha Lupi.

 
It can feel like that.  The game kept giving me exotic and legendary warlock gear when I was playing a titan.  After I started a warlock, it gives me gear for the hunter.

So I just accidentally dismantled my Vision of Confluence. That's the second legendary I d/ed by accident now. First was Shadow Price. FUcking game and its stupid ass cursor/hover system. After I swap weapons it decides to switch the item I'm hovering over when there's overlap and dismantles my legendary instead of a green.

They need to increase the amount of time it takes to d/e legendaries to match exotics, holy shit. I had 3 visions, but now I have 0. Great. It's never gonna drop again for me either, just watch.

I still need to do the big fight before the templar boss on hard and the templar boss on hard too. if anyone has any of those checkpoints, i'll join in later tonight

 
Finished off Atheon to complete my third Vault clear just now. Finally got something other than ascendant mats. Only problem is that it's the freaking ship.

If i buy the exotic helmet engram from Xur, will it be any of the exotic helmets? I remember i bought two a while back and they ended up being the same two he was selling for strange coins. I would love to buy an engram and get the third eye exotic for the hunter. But i feel like ill just end up getting that titan helmet he is selling. Has anyone bought an engram from him and got a helmet he wasnt currently selling?

It's random.

 
I've gotten 3 exotic engrams from him before and it's completely random. Heart of Praxic Fire, Mask of the Third Man and Apothesis Veil. You can get any of the existing helms in the game, with different stats, etc... I don't think I'm gonna spend any more motes on his stuff.

I've bought 3 from him so far got the third eye helm and the radar one for hunter then a Titan helm. Don't think he was selling any of them when I got them

I'll add to the "random" comments.

Last week got Insurmountable Skullfort for my titan (different from what he was selling)

This week got Skull of Dire Ahamkara for warlocks and I haven't even started a lock yet, but I'm gonna NOW :D

I don't see any reason to horde motes... at least I don't see any reason to not spend them on the engrams. I'd rather do that than drop them on the Speaker's goods.

 
It's all about the Rule of Cool in Destiny. Except for Warlocks. While Hunters get badass capes, and Titans get a neat pants thingy. Warlocks get some stupid arm circlet. It's not out there. It's basically a bracelet that glows or is on fire. 

The Speaker's Hunter Capes are awesome imo. 

 
Wow how lucky am i? I bought one exotic engram from Xur and got the Mask of the Third Man, the exotic helmet i really wanted for my hunter. :D Time to blade dance!

Need some advice:

I was able to max out my exotic helm last night and I have my Legendary gauntlets, chest and legs upgraded to the point, JUST before I have to use Ascendent shards.

It left me still at lvl 27 (96 points of light), maybe 85% full. Anyone know if I'll hit lvl 28 by ONLY maxing out the chest armor (it's Queen's chest armor)???

:lol: didn't realize locks had it sooo rough.

BTW, I call the "neat pants thingy" a butt rag. And I'd gladly give it up for a cape (or helmet dreadlocks). Come on Bungie... make helmet dreadlocks the new Titan mark.

If Trials of Osiris really take motes to queue up for, it might be worth saving for. I just don't see the need to get more exotic armor.

I have the BiS pieces for all 3 of my classes for PvE, and I couldn't care less about PvP so I'm all set.

Level 28 is 98 light. 29 is 109. 30 is 120.

So stupid, my itemization could not be any worse. Exotic helm with extra Golden Gun shot? K, Intellect must be my lowest stat :'(

Thanks. Any idea how much light increases when you upgrade a node using shards??? 1 point, 2, 3???

I have 3 nodes that need 6 shards a piece to finish off the chest armor

I only play for a few hours a day, longer if I'm with my friend. Admittedly, I did play Destiny for about 6 hours each day for during release week.

Got that sniper from xur...it rocks. First non blue weapon...so I can finally do some real damage in level 28 strikes. Still need to do the Nightfall will look for a team maybe Saturday early morning or late night. Thanks to the two 28s that took pity on me and carried me through the heroic weekly...Is there any sure fire way to get one more coin? I need it for a machine gun exotic bounty while xur is still in the house. 

 
Play the weekly heroic strike, each difficulty will give you 3 strange coins.  If you play the harder difficulties it'll give you coins for to lower difficulties.  So no need to beat the strike multiple times.

The story mission Eye of a Gate Lord is guarantee to give you a strange coin, so you can start a new character and play up to that mission.

Decoding engrams at the Cryptarch will randomly give strange coins or motes of light.  You can get engrams for playing the wolf or tiger strike playlist, the strike playlist will also reward you strange coins randomly.  Playing the Crucible will also randomly reward you strange coins, I think that is the slowest way.

 
Managed to take down an entire team with one Titan smash today in the Iron Banner. Considering how terrible I am in PvP and the fact that I'm still getting used to the Titan I'm pretty proud of myself haha.

 
So I'm missing 4 coins for the Ice Breaker, does anyone know  good way to get them? I did the daily and crucible and haven't been able to get more

Most defense upgrades add 2 light. I upgraded some of my stuff earlier today and realized that one of the upgrades on the last tier of ordinary legendary equipment will add 1 (My fully upgraded ordinary vanguard boots gives me 25 light. Before upgrade light was 22, last tier had 3 upgrades.). And based on math, one of the last tier on exotic equipment will add 3.

EDIT: changed some things to reflect that not all defense upgrades add 2 light.

Once you play it once you cannot play it again at a higher difficulty for more tokens I thought.

You definitely can. The daily story mission you don't get rewards if you replay at a higher difficulty.
