Yeah PSN is reportedly down.

It is even though because an entire day last week we couldnt see or connect to friends on X1 which made playing Destiny really lame and boring hah

I wonder if its something to do with upcoming firmware 2.0. I dont get to play til 9pm pst so hopefully by the time i fire up my console, psn is back online.

Anyway for any seasoned vets out there. Is there a reason to level up legendary gears to max if your planning to hopefully get raid gear in normal difficulty? Havnt done raids yet. Im at level 28 and have materials but im not sure if its worth it spending it now.

Nah, not worth maxing out anything other than Exotic and Raid gear.

Most will say no dont do it but it depends really.

For example I have Raid Chest, Legs and then Exotic Arms. And then I have the stupid Queen's Legendary Helm. I hate that helm but it is the best I can get at the moment apparently. I naturally then have not leveled it up all the way because I was thinking, 'pft I wont use it later' but later is just that... later. The higher your defense rating RIGHT NOW in PvE the better you can play in the Raids and Nightfalls and stuff and so really it is an investment for future gains.

I myself have maxed out my helmet to give me the highest defense I can have for playing Raid on Hard. Granted however I have over 50 Ascendant Shards saved up and so it really is not a big deal to me but either way you will continually get shards though so it isnt a crazy concern.

In the end it falls to what you want to do but I would say if anything level them evenly so that if you get Raid legs all of a sudden, you didnt level up your old legendary legs fully and left your gauntlets noticeably lower or something.

I hope that was clear I felt like I may have began to ramble..

 
I'm lvl 28 and stopped just as soon as it crossed over, didn't want to waste the materials.  But I have thought of pushing up to lvl 29 just to make it faster to get through the missions

EDIT:  Haha, Broly said it much better.  

I personally think the game won't give me raid gear until I level up my current gear ;) .  I'm just gonna wait 'til tonite: see what happens with the raid and what Xur's got for sale.

So I might be at 29 tomorrow... maybe

I know it's very unlikely but I wish one could buy Ascendant Energy from someone (Xur?) for Motes of Light or Strange Coins. I can obtain shards, coins and motes with ease but getting energy seems to allude me. I could fully upgrade ~12 exotics and legendary weapons if I could only get my hands on more and would prefer to max out my weapons over my armor. A vendor that could trade Shards for Energy 1:1 or vice versa would be great. I dunno perhaps Bungie wants the weapon progression to really be a grind or I'm just unlucky in my material findings and rewards.

 
I have my Hunter up to 27 now, 94 light with one more upgrade to go before i hit the ascendant upgrades. So i can do raids with the hunter now. Still can do it this week if anyone needs another person. Im on most nights after 8pm et and can play for as long as i want. Been through the raid 5+ times i think now. So i know what im doing. :)

Been doing daily heroics the last couple of days with my 3 chars and doing them all at hardest difficulty. think majority of the materials i got were energies. The last couple of daily were pretty easy to solo. I did have ice breaker with me so that helped the cause even for my lvl 26s. Hehe

Bring me to one of your raids parties. I always see you online partnered with arjay ignatia. Just sucks that most of the cags on my list are est and by the time i go online, everybody is done with there events.

Did you guys finish it already? I usually go online 830 pst since i have to do daddy chores and all. Really bummed. Next time. Just sucks to be on pst for this game.

We went in tonight with 5 29s and a 30. Templar was pretty easy, got him within 30 minutes or so of trying the new strat. Level shouldn't be any issue until Gatekeeper, and even then I do think it's very doable with the right group. There's definitely some fine-tuning that needs to be done between normal and hard but after messing around in there tonight being 30 in there is just a nice bonus.

 
Finally got my first piece of raid armor. Thought I might be in for a magical run when I got the gloves for opening the vault, but it was all ascendant mats until Atheon from there. Got shards and a second copy of the ship from him. Still my best run loot wise so far though.

Titan's-the Armamentarium chest armor

Hunters-Achlyophage Symbiote helmet

Warlocks-Light Beyond Nemesis helmet

Exotic Weapon-Truth RL with Void damage

Grabbed Armamentarium; extra grenade, yes please  :D/ .  This is the only thing that would get me to take off the Insurmountable Skullfront.  

Now I got the problem of insufficient shards.  Do I try for 29  or start upgrading Armamentarium

Would love to get Truth but only have 5 coins left. Also gonna hafta try to get 5 more motes if I want to gamble with the engram

Hmmm, Light Beyond Nemesis does look cool but i have a Skull of Dire Ahamkara. Should i get it or just save my coins? Just got a Heart of Praxis Fire from Xur, this looks blingy.

 
Okay so after having cleared up to Gatekeeper in hard, I'm pretty confident that we can full clear on our alts which are 29.

So, I'm looking for 2 people or so who'd be interested in running hard mode up to Gatekeeper at the very least, or a full clear. Please, only 29+. 30s would make it super easy, but I'm not sure how many 30s we have on these boards. I'm not sure when it'll be, most likely Saturday or Sunday night. If you're free during those times and have a few hours (2-3) please let me know.

Hey Defynorz - I raided with the alt group on Tuesday, is this something I can participate in? I am currently 29 now. I just got the exotic helm which puts me back at 28, but I will either have it leveled or put back on my queen helm for a raid

It is a great helmet for playing Skirmish with though so I will just swap gear around when I play that. Plus I still need my Raid Helmet and Gauntlets. If I get the Gauntlets I can drop the Sunbreakers for now and equip this new Helm and hit 30 as I wait for my Raid Helmet : P

Speaking of which, decided last night to use up my shards to hit lvl 29 with my current gear instead of saving them to use on Armamentarium.

Did 4 shard upgrades: two each to legs & gauntlets... ONLY got 6 points of light out of those 24 shards fuck !!!

Went from 99 to 105 on light

So I think you only get 1pt of light for the 1st shard upgrade, 2pts on the 2nd shard upgrade and HOPEFULLY, 3pts on the last upgrade

Il be doing a shopping spree later. Buying an engram, warlock helmet, truth and probably the titan chest piece if ever the engram becomes a dud. Gonna have it all. Hehe! Just wished i didnt pass on the suros last time. Tsk. Oh well.
 
I have 69 motes of light, hmmm, I want my Praxic of Fire 3x 1/6 = 1/2

Also, anyone know where i can get a nice legendary or unique machine gun? Only area in my arsenal where I lack. I'm rank 6 on vanguard, rank 2 or 3 on the FWC, and only rank 2 on the iron banner.

I want that chest piece too but I feel like the chances of me getting it are so slim especially with my luck and I will end up with yet another piece of titan gear I am forced to dismantle : (

 
I'm 3 strange coins away from getting the Titan Chest armor from Xur. And I already did the weekly. So if anyone would like to help (i.e. carry) my level 25 Titan through the harder difficulty on the weekly either this afternoon or evening let me know.

What's a good spot to rack up Motes of Light?  I'm thinking Tiger strikes but would it be better to farm Public Events while on patrol?

I need 4 to get the exotic engram

There is no real surefire way to get them.

I would say Tiger Strikes and PvP are the places I have seen them awarded the most though. I have not once received a Mote of Light from a Public Event, I think it is only Ascendant Material and Strange Coins though I could be mistaken.

I say PvP because it is a random reward at the end sometimes and then you are still racking up XP in the process towards progression Motes of Light

I was recommended to not use shards unless I had raid gear or exotic gear on me. I got lucky and got the gloves for the Titan last time we raided, so that's where all my shards are going. Freaking double grenades do sound amazing on this armor tough.

While generally that is a good point, as I mentioned before either here or the xbox thread, that it is kind of silly to wait when you could be directly better now. The more you level up the more defense you have and the more damage you do in the Raid. The stronger you are the more easily you can run the Raid and such and the more likely you will be to gain better gear. Leveling up current legendaries is an investment for later in my mind.

In that same vein spread the leveling, do not focus on just your legs because then with that luck you will get legs next. Spread along the remaining pieces evenly.

The more you play and do daily events and the Raid and all of that the more and more you will have a crazy abundance of Ascendant Shards. I know I have 51 sitting in my Vault right now and my other buddy literally has 118 hahaha

I also can't stress this point either!

Even if you top out at 27 or 28 at least you'll be the best version of your level you can possibly be... during the time you'll be able to slowly build up a reserve of shards for when you do get that lucky drop. Why risk the potential of not completing a raid portion or strike because you wanted to hoard a material for a piece you failed to get?

BE ALL YOU CAN BE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

 
I farmed the hell out of the loot cave that i have tons of weapon parts and class armor materials for the hunter. Now that i have warlock and a titan i wish there was a way to convert/exchange class amor materials to other classes. Tsk!
 
Being a high level will still not protect you from accidentally dying from a jump. 

I get most of my Motes of Light from Engrams and from "leveling" up. 

 
what site does everyone use to get the Public Event schedule? Are any of them reliable? Or does Bungie eft with it just enough so that there is no set schedule?

Damn, congrats on the gloves. I still only have 2 identical butt rags, Atheon's Epilogue and Found Verdict

My plan was to do the same... squeak into 28 and hold off for raid armor. It's just that I kept thinking how much better/faster would things be going (missions, strikes, raids) if I hit lvl 29. Of course, I also thought I would hit 29 with those four upgrades :roll:

Besides, I can't keep bashing my head thru walls to finish missions... I'm running out of walls :ziplip:

Yeah, I've got something like 500+ plasteel plating and I never did loot cave. Did maybe 1/2 hour of loot door though.

It'd be nice to trade maybe 100 of those for something else.
