 Anime Steals and Deals

**It is highly recommended you check the latest posts in this thread as they will often have the most up to date deals. I will attempt to reflect these sales in the OP, but always check the latest posts.**

Rightstuf

Rightstuf runs studio sales every week, sometimes even twice a week. These range from anime, manga, and even artbooks. Prices are decent, and Rightstuf has amazing customer service. I highly recommend them for that alone.

http://www.rightstuf.com/rssite/main/

You can save an additional 10% off a majority of their items (Including preorders) by buying their Got Anime membership

http://www.rightstuf.com/rssite/action/store/item/Item?ItemName=gotanime1

Amazon

Amazon tends to offer lower everyday prices on their anime, and often run sales on Funimation items routinely. Keep track on your favorites or check your daily deal's for a possible 5% off of some based off your history on Amazon.

(Also, I'd also recommend to check out Amazon's top 100 deals in Anime Bluray/DVD as they tend to show what's popular, or what is on sale.)

http://www.amazon.com/gp/bestsellers/movies-tv/2959127011/ref=pd_zg_hrsr_mov_1_3_last   (Blu Ray)

http://www.amazon.com/Best-Sellers-Movies-TV-Anime/zgbs/movies-tv/2959100011/ref=zg_bs_nav_mov_2_2958934011 (DVD)

DVDPlanet / Deep Discount

Known by many for their bad customer service, they often make up for it with their lower prices on a lot of their items. This and they routinely run sales specifically for anime.

http://www.dvdplanet.com/Pages/Search/Category.aspx?ec=42000

http://www.deepdiscount.com/index.cfm

I highly suggest when you order from them to only order in stock items, and not ones that are backordered. Save yourself the displeasure of having to deal with the headaches. And patience is a must with these sites.

Cheapassgamer

Maybe you will find something here on our own forums! We have a thread dedicated specifically to Anime and Manga for sale from fellow Cags.

Yay, I finally bought things from Rightstuf this year! Haha. It's about damn time. Now I hope that they can put the last few things on my immediate radar on sale.

Rurouni Kenshin: New Kyoto Arc

Grave of the Fireflies

Devil Survivor 2 (Assuming we'll get no Blu release)

Chrono Crusade

Elfen Lied

Majestic Prince Pts 1 & 2

Wonder if I should get Infinite Stratos II now while it's $29.99 or wait till they release the Bluray version to go along with my first season Bluray.

I'm still waiting for my Funi order to ship as well. I checked the order status and it is currently processing like everyone else here. I'm guessing they should start shipping out no later then Tuesday. Pretty odd that they take so long to get the orders ready and then ship them out. Maybe they need to contact RS and have them train them. :p

because their sales are usually garbage they are likely not used to dealing with so many orders :p

Hoping Godannar: The Complete Collection makes its way to one of Right Stuf's '12 Day' sales. As much as I like the show, I'm not willing to drop $40 for it on Amazon.

Zavvi has the Ghibli Steelbooks (Naussica, Ponyo, Totoro, Howl) for £10.99, although the discs are Region B so you are essentially just paying for the case.

As for RS, I am tempted to get Majestic Prince. I also highly recommend Romeo X Juliet. Fantastic show.

I wouldn't buy Durara quite yet. Crunchy is going to have another season of it coming up soon. Would wait until the price comes back down to earth, unless it's one of those crap companies that thinks the U.S. should pay Japan prices for anime.

It's 1920's baseball instead of alt-history tank sports, but aside from that I thought Taisho Baseball Girls had a pretty similar feel to GuP.
Well, GuP is essentially a sports anime. A sports anime with TANKS!

My rightstuf order was backordered because they ran out of Upotte.

Funny thing is I only got upotte for the shipping. My main reason for the purchase is being held back now. :(

But that's exactly how Aniplex operates...

and now for the don't fall for the trap section

Yumeria... unless you are a pedophile it's unlikely you will find this series worth watching :p (for the record it's ok if you like this series, I just wouldn't recommend it even at $7 lol)
Even they wouldn't. It's that bad.

Aniplex prices makes me not want to buy anime sometimes, so that just tells you how bad their prices are. ~_~
I doubt it's the money you care about, but rather "I could have 20 whole series for this amount!" Then you buy 20 series, and the last one doesn't have room for your shelf, and you buy a shelf with one thing on it. Although realistically, by the time you got your new shelf, you probably already bought enough anime to half fill it =P

Speaking of shelves I have no more space. Everything is on top of each other and not displayed how I want it to be. Sadly my room is too small to house another shelve so I guess it'll have to do that is unless I can find something really small but super tall.

It's not like fansubs do much than rip official translations any more. I used to prefer fansubs, cause of the more direct translations. Now they're just all rips.

So...does anyone gave any recommendations for taller DVD/BD shelving? These shelves in the three foot height neighborhood are completely inadequate.

Fry's is having another minor anime sale, like, really, really minor, but man, but I see a couple of titles I'm throwing down on, even if they are DVDs. :p

The old Oskar Atlantic shelves =(
Here's a resource you can use,

https://www.cheapassgamer.com/topic/295616-the-official-shelving-discussion-thread/?hl=%20shelving

Read through the thread, and it should give you a good idea what to look for.

The majority of the information in that thread still applies to what is currently on the market shelving wise.

You will also out more about what elessar meant by his comment. ;D

I'm the same way, I buy mainly Blu ray unless it's only on DVD and it won't come out on Blu ray.

To the people complaining about Blu rays, at least Towano Quon and Tokyo Magnitude's Blu rays are on sale.  TQ is $10, and TM is $12.

Actually those are just their regular prices on the blus.

Fry's for certain blu titles are ridiculously lower for their regular price than most places have them for when they're on sale, however, it usually only applies to their Section 23 titles, and not Funimation titles, as I've rarely ever seen any that were at a cheaper regular price than online retailer's regular prices.

With that said, Fry's is definitely a place to go to find some nice Section 23 deals on a regular basis, without having to have a sale.

With coupon code MEGAWEEKEND.
Problem is as of me just hearing about it and checking out gohastings, everything I want is out of stock

Can anyone recommend any of these?

What are used items from GoHastings usually like? Never ordered from them before.
I've gotten both good and bad.

Gunslinger Girl---Terrible

All of Gundam Seed, Samurai 7, Eden of the East and a few other items---Amazing

Beware their customer service blows

Much more good than bad, or at least that's been my experience.
I concur with that notion

What gohastings 45% sale?
Hop on it!!!

And no free shipping
Bleh. Still got some decent pick ups though even if i did have to pay 9 bucks in shipping smh

Can anyone recommend any of these?
I enjoyed both Fate/SN and Fate/KLPI. Haven't seen the others in the list.

Btw, you don't need to reach $34 to get free shipping. I was able to get free (ultra saver / super slow) shipping just buying the two I listed, and total was $15.98. Estimated arrival isn't until Dec 29 though. Fortunately these are for me and not a holiday gift ^^;

idk if i should place an order with fry's. last time when xam'd was on sale it never went through. although i do really want to get fate/sn. idk about fate/klpi. it's an alternate storyline and shojo and the trailer didn't hook me

I used to run out of space a lot, but I have taken to condensing my collection by putting multiple parts in one case. Doesn't look at seamless on the shelf, but I am able to fit every episode of Pokémon until the end of Sinnoh on one shelf. Also every Gundam released thus far.

that makes a lot of sense duke. i think i may do just that and then box the empty cases and put them into the attic until i move out. that or i'll go to the thrift store and the local furniture store thats closing and see what they have.

I saw Toyko Magnitude 8.0 and I really enjoyed it. It's about earthquake so it's a emotional and sad type show. I highly recommend. And I was able to order just this one for free shipping.

Has anyone seen Glass Maiden?

Yea, I'm thinking about getting rid of all my big boxes. Haruhi, GitS:SAC, and Code Geass takes up like a whole yard by themselves.
