This fuck ing game continues to troll me hard...

Ran the Raid 3 times in about 2 hours. The last run was 30 minutes. And that was with the bridge done legit which was much easier than I remember it. That's partly because we're all 31/32 now instead of the 30 we were when we first had to figure it out.

I got just a few, crappy armor drops. I got boots for my Titan that were worse than the ones I had. I got boots and gloves for my Warlock, both of which I hadn't maxed out yet and was looking to replace. But I got horrible rolls on both. The gloves are teasing me because they have the orb with a Hive critical hit perk which is the best one. But I got a strength roll in the 80's which sucks. Any other stat and I might have taken it - but low strength - no thanks. The other gloves I have are int/disc at 107 or so combined.

Then I got boots that are at 120 or so discipline (when most are 150). But the ones I have ready to max out are int/str I think so it would be nice to switch but not for that low a number...

Interestingly enough I got no armor for my Hunter who was at 32 already. I got two exotics to drop from Deathsinger and maybe Crota but they are ones I already had two each of so those turned into exotic shards (Truth and Thunderlord). The worst of course was my Crota drops yet again. I didn't get Hunger of Crota and I didn't get a single helm. So that's now 18 Crota kills without either of those. I got my 3rd or 4th Swordbreaker and that was it - not even a ship.

My shard count was 9E/5S, 4E/9S, 11E/2S so for once I got more energy than shards. If you think about it, though, this would be the point where you'd want that to shift since most people can have gear maxed out already. I guess I'll have to go with the crappy gear I have and get another character to 32 but I'm not sure which one yet. Also note the slightly higher totals (which were 11-13 before the patch but now it is 13-14) because of the added drop point. So the distribution of energy/shards is about the only thing the Raid is being good about. Still, I'll probably have to convert a few energy to shards to get a second char to 32 (let alone the 3rd).

So, yeah, it was a nice, quick, clean run, but the rewards were meh... But oh no, the game wasn't done trolling me yet! I ran the Nightfall (Sepkis Prime with Arc burn by the way) and got a crappy legendary fusion rifle and 7 (yeah, SEVEN) ascendant energy. Blah... I still have to run it on my Warlock so maybe if any CAGs are running it tomorrow they can join me to see what crappy thing I get next .

Weekly will be a pain again this week because it has lightswitch but no burn. Then again Sepkis isn't too hard so maybe that won't be so bad.

After I run the last nightfall and maybe the weeklies I'm taking a break from this game until next week. I don't even have one piece of new armor to level up (other than exotics that I can't use because I don't have a Raid helm to let me switch from my exotic helms) let alone any new weapons so running bounties or Roc strikes is pointless other than to rank up Dead Orbit or try for more loading screens (ie, ships).

At least 7 energy is a better drop than a purple you wont use lol.

I have a ton of purple weapons that I will never use. Thinking of scrapping all of them soon. Anyone have any keepers they can recommend before I scrap the rest of mine?
If you have Raid weapons and Exotics then most other Legendary guns are useless. Up for Anything is a sold Auto Rifle with 331 though it depends on the roll. I still have my Shadow Price as well which is only 300 max but that is arguably still the best basic Auto for PvP. Again, most depend on the roll you get for the perks, most of the time guns suck regardless but every once in a while you get a somewhat average gun but with an amazing pair of abilities and it becomes actually relevant among the sea of Raid and Exotic guns!

I don't think the weapon needs to be nerfed.

Very arguable vs. a 331 vanquisher, but I still use my shadow price too

I kinda want a Timur's Lash from I. Ron Banner but I'm not sure if I want to devote so much time to Crucible this week...
The gun sucks. I calculated the odds of getting one of the few "good" rolls a while back based on all the possible abilities and stats it can have and it was like winning the lotto. I wasted like 20 Motes of Light last time just for shits and giggles and just wasted them all.

My friend previously got the "optimal" roll after 153 (?) motes ;). The funny part is I think this was on the old 300 version.

In terms of overall stats however, it is one of the best in the game - highest impact I think?

What about just with the default out-of-the-box affixes, is it decent? Or do you get a random roll from the vendor?
You can't buy Timur's Lash from Saladin, it is only a reward for completing IB matches. Unless something has changed that is, but I thought this time around was an Auto Rifle and Sniper as the vendor ones.

Not sure what I was reading then! Haha

I thought the ones you see from the Vendor are a set roll that everyone sees but seeing as I was just so wrong about the weapon even being there don't even listen to me hahah

PSA:  get your tumbler before it's gone (as seen on bungie.net splash page)

(I didn't even know they would take it away...  :shame: )

Well, yeah, last week I got two useless purples and then some energy - so I essentially got like 11 or so ascendant energy combined from all 3 runs. I'd definitely take the bulk energy over the purples. But the guy I was running it with got 11 strange coins. I'd rather have that over the 7 energy. And of course what I really want is Obsidian Mind. But I haven't gotten ay exotics from the Nightfall in several weeks.

The funny thing about the exotic drops from Deathsinger/Crota was that they definitely seemed to be cranked up last night. We had 4 people, I think, get No Land Beyond, and 3 others get Dragon's Breath. And I got Thunderlord and Truth. I had only gotten 2 exotics from that first chest the entire 15 previous runs, and I get 2 out of 3 last night.

By the way, no one got armor from Deathsinger as far as I could tell so it will be interesting to see what, exactly, drops there if the Bungie notes were correct on that. Also, I'm going to throw my controller through the screen if I'm with another person who complains at Crota about getting yet another helm. WTF!? What else is there to get (other than Hunger of Crota)!?

I'll be running that last Nightfall and possibly all 3 Weeklies some time after 8 or so Pacific tonight if anyone is on.

I thought it would still remain in our special vendor inventory. I assumed they meant more so to actually get it linked to your account by buying the DLC, aka another push to sell it.

Long live cheese!!!!! Kotaku has a couple of "tricks" to keep the first two parts of the raid soloable and chees-able.

Oh, lord, not again... ;)

My only problem with this is that it might mean delays in the Hard mode release since they will probably want to make sure this stuff is patched. Like I said before, we are beta testing their latest patch and I'm sure more will follow.

I'll have to watch the second bridge video but it sounds like you can still despawn stuff and then send one person over and still be able to kill everything? (Edit: yeah that's it so pretty much the only change is that one person has to get across with the bridge formed and you can do that without people sitting on the totem plates - unbelievable). It's pretty amazing they didn't make it so everyone has to go across before the ogres spawn. Still, like I said before, this part is pretty easy now anyway. At 31/32 you can take out the gatekeepers and the stuff on the initial side isn't all that tough either.

In fact, I swear they made it easier because I never saw knights come out. I'm usually one of the last people over and thus I have to stay and defend the totems for a while. In the initial week of the Raid, it was a wave of thralls, followed by acolytes, followed by knights. The knights never showed up last night which made defending the totems a breeze.

You have to be careful on the other side when defending the totems because knights and wizards do come out there, but it was never overwhelming.

Oh, and we had one crazy glitch cause us to wipe at the Deathsinger. We were finishing off Ir Yut and she just disappeared. The Liturgy timer stopped at like 15 seconds and we thought we had killed her but then we all wiped. When we were dead we could see her highlighted down below in the lower chamber (where you start) - so apparently she fell down there or glitched through the floor where the crystal is. So, yeah, just like with the Atheon teleport glitches, this will probably never get patched... At least this one seems pretty rare.

Ugh. I am really sick of all of these exploits. Seriously. They are ruining the game for me because what is the point in getting higher armor and weapons if there is no actual need to ever effing use them?

I have a theory that you get the best rewards if you are dead when the boss dies. Just jumped in Gott's nightfall game and I was dead when Sepkis went down (among many other times) and I got an exotic. Of course it was the same exotic piece I currently had equipped with 20 less max strength, but an exotic nonetheless. I was also dead when I got my Vex. Correlation always equals causation, right?

I can understand why people don't like all these exploits, but I have subscribed to the "player vs developer" school of thought. Bungie has done some cheap and lazy things to artificially extend the need for people to grind instead of them hustling on developing new content. Plus, I'm a solo gamer at heart, so the ability to do some of this stuff by myself or with small groups is appreciated.

That being said, I've had a great time meeting the gang here while playing this game. Looking forward to getting in on a raid or nightfall tonight.

Yeah guys...that's been my strategy all along...sure....[nervous cough] :whistle2:

No it's just my luck rubs off on people, guaranteed at least one exotic drop per run in last 4 weeks

edit: jk jinxed it

Man everytime Iron Banner comes along I'm excited to play up until I play a few rounds and realize that no one on my team understands the concept of control.   Argh!!!

Welllllll

Haha technically it isn't control!

But yeah I know what you mean, I never really go into PvP without my normal team.

Been on a loosing streak for about 10+ matches....gettin really annoyed.  Guess I'll take a break.   Anyone running Weekly's tonight?

That's a fair assessment.

But I would say the grind isn't the big problem, the loot system is the problem.

As it is now, grinding for a weapon may never result in getting said weapon. (like me looking for my 1st fatebringer)

After a while, people are gonna look for a way to get thru as fast as possible, just to see if RNG looks favorably on them.

I mean there's always gonna be those people who look for speed runs / exploits. Think back to Super Mario glitching thru the water level or Super Metroid speed runs. But most wouldn't bother cheesing if RNG wasn't such a tro-lo-loll

EDIT: I would add that Bungie needs to revamp the loot system... maybe take some ideas from the revamped Iron Banner. Introduce a medallion/coin system which a player can earn and save up for the opportunity to get that particular raid gear they're still hunting. I dunno, maybe 9 coins. This would still force someone to play 3 straight weeks (assuming they run 3 toons) in order to get 1 piece of gear that just won't drop for them.

Sure, this would still be a grind, but it gives assurances that you will eventually get something of your choosing.

And no, I wouldn't include exotics in this... just the new raid gear.

I don't think drop rate is an issue for the new raid, outside of helmet which is supposed to be low drop on normal anyway. The better thing to copy from Iron Banner is the ability to re-roll the stats.

My nightfall/weekly drops were crap.  Got another Badger CL Scout and another stupid pulse rifle.  Ran weekly got a legendary secondary engram that turned into:
Some Solar Fusion Rifle

Ended up running the raid almost 2 times (I had to leave at Crota unfortunately) and got mostly shards which is good.  And I also got...

Fooking IceBreaker!!!  Finally!!!

Well, got 12 shards for my 3rd Nightfall. Good going Destiny: I was complaining about getting energy so it gave me the only thing I need less of. I now have 101 shards just on my Warlock alone. Energy at least I can use to upgrade random weapons. I have no armor to upgrade that isn't exotic or raid new Raid gear.

Oh well. I had 20 radiant shards and did my first ever Eris exchange of a radiant energy (of which I have 60) to get my Titan to 32. My Warlock needs two pieces to be upgraded to get to 32 so I could do it if I exchanged 42 energies. But I think I'll give it another week to see if I get better gear (and have to do less exchanging).

And now my other Raid crew wants to run VoG again. So more ascendant mats here I come!

Well, to rival getting two Thunderlords in one day, I just got two Fatebringers in one drop.

Grabbed the Hunter boots (and cloak) in Crota tonight, so now I'm only (a ton of) radiant shards away from 32.

Yeah, I had that happen once as well. And I didn't get two Thunderlords. I got a Thunderlord and a Truth ;).

Vendetta had the Vault of Glass hard mode Oracles checkpoint and we ran that with him and some of the people from my other Raid group and I got a Vex, Atheon's Epilogue, and a ship. That was a pretty good drop from Atheon though I already had all of that. One of the people from my other group had never gotten Vex so she was pretty pissed me and Vendetta's friend also got it. Vendetta's friend had probably the best Atheon drop ever though: Vex, Icebreaker, helm, and ship. He also got Praedyth's Timepiece from the Oracles. I didn't see anyone get the Praetorian Foil which is the only weapon I never got from VoG.

Vex is definitely still 323 max. It's too bad they didn't increase it - would have been awesome to snag just after the update if so.

I swapped all 3 of my characters out for the exotic chest and only got mats. Someone else got Patience and Time.

I still need to run Weeklies on two characters and then I'm definitely taking a break until Monday night.

Weird night.  Two Nightfalls got me 12 coins and ascendant energy.  Weekly got me...just the coins, some rare engrams and energy (as far as I can remember).  Then ran the raid up til Crota and except for getting the boots I needed (yay!) it was all just energy again. Seems like I have not gotten an exotic weapon drop in forever.

I'll probably be off until Friday, but I'd be up for finishing off Crota or maybe another full run with my Hunter if anyone is up for it.

Why can't they do the reset during the weekend so everyone can stay up late and not worry about work in the morning?  Stupid work.  I have shards to farm, dammit!

I did get the Helm of Saint 14 from an exotic drop with the nightfall (Thanks for the invite, Sinfulfate!), so that was cool.

Oh, and we had one crazy glitch cause us to wipe at the Deathsinger. We were finishing off Ir Yut and she just disappeared. Something similar happened to us. We were attacking her inside that crystal room, and somehow she glitched outside of the window. So she was outside, protected from our attacks by that energy field/window, and by the time we realized and rushed outside, time had run out and she wiped us. :( I don't know what's up with Bungie's updates. Each one carries more bugs...

Ugh. I am really sick of all of these exploits. Seriously. They are ruining the game for me because what is the point in getting higher armor and weapons if there is no actual need to ever effing use them?
Prep for hard raid. That's why I've been holding off on getting to level 32 until they announce the hard raid date. There's no point wasting my shards on armor when there are still many weeks and chances to get armor with better stats.

It's funny how we all try to rationalize things. One of my friends is convinced he always gets good stuff when he plays with his neighbor in his fireteam. I've noticed my Titan gets good stuff whenever he deals the killing blow to the boss. I Titan smashed Valus Ta'aurc -- got exotic. Titan smashed Nexus -- got exotic. Titan smashed Phogoth in Vanguard Roc playlist -- got exotic. Lol.
