I should have been a lawyer. I let laziness get the best of me and settled on the major that had the best future outlook with the least amount of effort. Business Administration. Not saying it was easy, but compared to law school or engineering or even accounting, it was a breeze.

I pretty much did the same thing. I could have and am told I should have been a lawyer. I can argue shit into the ground. #beatadeadhorse I found out how much reading and writing lawyers had to do and said " fuck that". I went with BA with a concentration in Finance. But I didnt even really get into Finance because I found a job at the bank that was easy and stuck with it. I have risen through the ranks at least. Got another decent raise (7% when the average was 1%) and bonus this year.

Didnt you also get your MBA? I did too. That wasnt as hard as I thought it would be. But it really wasnt even needed. Thankfully the bank paid for that shit.

Im dreading our house hunt later this year...
Getting a home loan is a much different animal than a car loan. If you do not have to have a car right now, I would not be getting a loan for one if you want to get a home loan in 6 months. Especially if you do not both have credit scores in the mid 700s or higher.

Yeah I got my MBA. I finished my undergrad in '09 when the job market was pretty shitty so I just went into a weekend MBA program right away while working part time. One class at a time for 18 months was a cinch but I did have to pay for it myself. It was cheap though, less than $20K through Utah State. Fell ass backwards into a my current job about a month before I graduated when my former boss got promoted and relocated and just told his boss to replace him with me.

Mine wasn't laziness since I ended up going the engineering route, but it was not giving a damn about who won what case in 1862 to set precedence on another case. I just wanted to get paid well to argue.

I am glad I went the direction I did though. The only difference is lawyers create a need for more lawyers. In high tech telecom equipment like I work on you can go from being a critical subject matter expert one day to a dinosaur the next.

When I got into an accident years ago, the check came to me even though I was still paying the car off.
Car was totaled?

Guessing it wasnt YOUR insurance who paid and it was the other person's insurance. If you have a lien holder on your vehicle that information will be with your insurance company and they have the fiduciary responsibility to find out what the payoff amount is on your loan and pay the lien off before paying you.

The other insurance company has no fiduciary responsibility to your lien holder and it was up to you to pay your lien off if the car was totaled.

My fault. Oops. But appreciate the responses.

So I listened to MBMBaM, and learned of someone selling "haunted" dolls on ebay. She even included lil stories with some of them.

"This haunted doll is evil!...You can buy it for $30.00"

This is getting kind of scary. I was about to leave the bank when both my supervisor and VP left about the same time. The manager told his boss I was the man. So I stayed and became more of the man. In a pretty easy job really. Just hate the people sometimes. But thats anywhere.

Definitely happens. My original job at the old bank I worked at was to make sure every vehicle we had a loan out for had insurance, and that we were listed as lien holder with the insurance agency. Took a few weeks to clean up, but after that it was about an 10hr/week job that I was getting paid to do full time. We were a smaller bank, though.

It's too important of a job to leave to p/t employees (because of turnover and loans falling through the cracks) but it's a pretty menial job to pay someone a full salary for unless you're a huge lender. I think that's why that happens so much.

Alternatively, if you were not at fault for the wreck and got a check from someone else's insurance company, then yeah there's really no way for that insurance company to know you still have a loan for the vehicle and those checks are basically always delivered to the owner.

Ninja'd by kilik on that last part.

Sorry, that wasn't directed at you. It was more in response to the discussion after addressing your problem (I'm glad that turned out to not be a big problem, BTW).

Don't mind Vig, we talk about almost any subject in here. It does seem like Tyler, wren, and myself are the main ones who like financial talk. I can guarantee you we don't give a shit if Vig cares that we are talking about it.

We could always make him even happier by switching the topic to sports.

Yeah I've known for a while that you and I have a scary amount in common. Like when I asked you that NAV question a couple months back in party chat.

I just don't know if I should be happy with myself that we're so similar.

i have a $5 off rewards coupon for gamefly that expires today. couldn't find anything i really want to use it on. if someone else can use it, pm me. hopefully that'll stop me from spending $20 on mind zero with it.
You can't give it away, it is tied to your account. I have tried before.

I wish I could somehow post images in yellow font.

Yup this is true. And it's not just vig, it's everyone. I know I don't care what others think about the topics I like. Vig was just the one to make the "who the fuck cares" comment this time and he'll get a few likes for it.

I did it earlier with the hairband nonsense that was going on and got a few too.

No but we drink basically the same booze, though I think he drinks a bit more frequently for me. And I haven't had a major injury that requires pain pills yet, so who knows what'll happen if that time comes...
Percocet and Oxy are the way to go for pain pills.

Was the only good part about my back problems.

So you would be doppelgangers but Tyler was smart enough not to get married (at least so far) and wren is smart enough to live in a warm place that isn't boring.

It's a freaking nightmare.
We are wanting to upgrade houses, only kind of looking right now, but not looking forward to having to deal with selling our house and buying another one.

First time was easy, built the house we wanted at the time and was our first house so didnt have to sell one.

Injury?! What injury? Who had an injury? Me?

I actually prefer Hydrocodone over Oxy.

I don't know why people complain about others discussing topics they don't care about. For me, it always means less posts I have to read.
