"Do Not Return" just means "evaluate at a lower grade if it doesn't meet the higher grade", right?

It doesn't actually mean "Do Not Return this game to me even if you don't accept it"?
Correct on both counts. If you send anything that is outright rejected due to damage or incorrect UPC/item or whatever, they'll still send it back to you.

Two things regarding the Order. First, the developers were interviewed on gamespot and said something to the extent that

  1. The game is only 5 hours if you literally run through the whole game with no sidetracking, no dying, etc.
  2. They were targeting quality over quantity, they think it's dumb when games put filler or grinding sections in game just to add to play time.
  3. Average play time is 8-15 hours depending on difficulty.
Second thing, Like what was said before, PS4 trophies and PowerpX are working on guides, with PowerPX saying that he will have a collectibles guide done by Friday. Also the collectibles aren't easy Per Colin Moriarty who accidentally slipped that that is taking him a bit without a guide. Yes it will be fine once we have a guide. My bet is 80% of us have the plat by the end of the weekend.
The collectibles must not be that hard or out of the way. Look at this...

http://psnprofiles.com/trophies/3291-The-Order-1886/TheNukes?order=date&lang=en-gb#content

He finished the game with apparently all the collectibles but 1 type in 6 hours and 38 minutes. Getting that last type done took him 2 more hours though. Apparently, that is the most well hidden type judging by trophy percentages.

That guy likes to be the first to plat games, so I can guarantee he was running through the game as fast as possible.

Thanks Vig.  I'll lock in at the higher price and choose Do Not Return as well.  I'm still hoping for $40 at Best Buy sometime next week.

I guess I'm just turning into a Cainiac or Mpaullin, but using a collectibles guide on your first playthrough of a (good, non-trophy fodder) game is lame.
Yeah. I'll definitely use one on a game like assassins creed after clearing the game or on a game I don't care about but I'm specifically picking this game up to experience new gen sexiness and quasi-steampunk aesthetics. I'm going to play on easy, sans auxiliary reading materials, and if I have time before it feels like the tiv is going to tank I'll try to pick up the plat.

No real benefit aside from getting them out of the way.

No, the predetermined people are just that--predetermined. Each one has different stats and abilities that you'll have to check in order to most effectively fight the remix bosses.
Bullocks. I was hoping the remix peeps they give you are just a new children to use and your individual shit you've built up powers them.

Reason I mentioned the remix before ending thing is because that's what PST.org suggested in the guide. I'd rather contend with those assholes later and just beat the game. Maya boss is still kicking my ass, but I'm building up slowly but surely. Level one-oh-something right now

$40+ at Best Buy is definitely my first choice. I plan on getting the Big Hero 6 steelbook from Target on Tuesday and there's a Best Buy in the area. Hopefully I'll have the plat and the TIV will be up and at a good value by then.

Is the Maya's boss music stuck in your head yet? That's still my favorite track from the game.

I kind of want to import Puyo Puyo Tetris now:

http://www.giantbomb.com/videos/quick-look-puyo-puyo-tetris/2300-9838/

Looks awesome if you like puzzle games. I'm actually not a huge fan of Puyo Puyo, but that's because I've never gotten good at it. This merging of the two looks all kinds of fun (and crazy) and apparently it's never coming to the US due to a licensing issue or something (something to do with it being published by Sega). You can import from the usual suspects, or you can get it from amazon third parties.

There are versions for all platforms, including Vita, and they are all region-free apparently (not sure about Wii U/3DS versions being region-free, though - aren't those platforms locked?). I'd probably opt to get the PS4 version in the hope that I'd be able to get somebody to play it with me locally. I wonder if you'll be able to play online in the US?

I agree with this unless the game extremely long with no chapter select for collectibles and has to be done all in one run. If I use a guide, I prefer to use a video guide so I can just start the part and see where I need to start looking for an item and see if I can find it on my own. If not, then I'll use it to see exactly where it is.

I have certainly used a guide on first runs of games when doing the competitions, but those weren't the greatest games in the world and being finished fast was the goal. A trophy fodder game as you call it.

This is exactly what I normally do if I think I might want to try for the 100% or plat.

Isn't that like taking a test with the answers on a sheet you're sneaking a look at when the teacher is playing on her phone? Cheater!

Do you mean cheating in the competitions (I ask because the edit of my post)? No, the competition was ran by a trophy guide site. They assumed you were going to be using the guides on the site to get the trophies as fast as possible.

That's the one I'm stuck on too. I love the game but I feel like I'd enjoy it more if I had more time to put into it. I'll probably just beat it and be done.

Ok here is a nub question. How do I lock it in at Amazon? Just agree to trade it but then never bother to send it if BB has a better value?
Exactly. Lock in now have until 2/25 to ship it, gives you the weekend to plat it.

Highest game at bestbuy is evolve at 39, so could see similar amount on the order when they do put it up, it might drop quick though if a lot of people beat it over the weekend.

42.90 aint bad, paid 47.99 before tax.

I may try to play through NG+ after I beat it if I'm powered up enough from all the dying. Don't think there's a chance in hell ill ever beat any of the remix bosses, let alone the 15 deaths one.

I fortunately can get a good 2+ hours of play time on days when I ride the bus and I'm getting good gold returns most times now. Think I might give the 3rd boss another go here soon after failing horribly yesterday before going back in to upgrade more.

Didn't someone (tyler?) say its better to beat the Darkness boss before the Maya boss?

Nope. Someone else might have, but there's no real advantage or disadvantage to doing things in any order. The Maya enemies are easier but the boss is tougher. The Darkness boss is easier but the enemies are tougher. If you do find the Darkness boss door with an easy layout, that is a good time to use the architech because exploring the darkness can be a huge pain in the ass every time looking for the boss.

fuckin' Arnold impressions in the new Resogun DLC. Haven't tried Protector yet, but Commando ain't too bad. Certainly different than the rest of the game considering I'm not in a ship. Anyone else playing it? Pete?

Not liking the stardust weapon at allllllllllllllllll

Just want to clarify something due to a conversation I just had with a friend.  For these spend X get Y promotions on the store, pre-orders have always counted since the money came from your wallet immediately, correct?

I think he is getting the 10% off an order promo confused.  I see no fine print about pre-orders not counting, and I want to say I ordered LBP3 when I did because of one of these promos.  He has me doubting if I know what I am talking about.

Jay beat Alexander last night.  Took him about 90 mins, which isn't too bad at all.  He got a bit of the skull glitch going (though unintentionally) which really is almost essential to beating the dude.

Remix or original recipe? And how do you do this fancy glitch?

So, opinions on the the games in the Focus and Aksys Sale?

The Focus ones are all super cheap, but are they all super crap? Thought about getting Mars War Logs, and Magrunner. Maybe Faery?

And then from Aksys:
Blazing Souls (?)
Mimana Iyar
Ragnarok tactics
Record of Lodoss War (nah. only if they were on the Vita)
Little help?

Remix. Beating him regularly isn't particularly noteworthy. It basically just involves freezing him far enough off screen that he spawns a bunch of miniskulls that also stay off screen, then you lure him over to the side you're on and fight him with less miniskulls getting in the way.

When you get that far you'll be able to see it in more detail.

90 mins just for the boss fight?! That's crazy. I wasn't expecting that since I'd be surprised if the first 2 even took 2 minutes.

Edit: nvm, I see now. Remix.

Europe is pass the embargo date and time for the order, so some reviews from over there have released

https://translate.google.com/translate?hl=en&sl=fr&tl=en&u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.gamekyo.com%2Fblog_article356213.html

Someone posted an excerpt from a French review that gave it a 15/20, and it took the 7-8 hours on easy to just beat the game including cut scenes.

Another review was posted on a German site... Google translate to the rescue

https://translate.google.de/translate?sl=auto&tl=en&js=y&prev=_t&hl=de&ie=UTF-8&u=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.gameplane.de%2Forder-1886-review-das-spiel-das-alle-hassen-wollten%2F&edit-text=&act=url

89/100, overall stating that it is great because of the story and unbelievable graphics that finally scream next gen.

I'm happy with what is being said so far and have a feeling we won't be seeing horrible reviews of it, probably 8's

Well the actual fight takes maybe 3 minutes. It's just hard as balls and you have to retry over and over and over. I think I was over 2 hours on Alexander.

People in other threads say preorders count as long as the funds come from the wallet, so...yes?

FYI, Saturday is Disney Infinity day at Gamestop. Not sure what deals they'll have, all the ad really mentions is that there will be deals and you'll be able to buy a Gamestop exclusive collectors edition Rocket Racoon.

It'll be funny to pop in here over the weekend and see almost everyone have the same PSNP trophy card image.
Everyone except all of us Wisconsin people who don't have a ps4. We have better things to do like hide under a blanket while we get hit with the negative degree weather headed our way.

Off topic here, but what the hell is that a pic of in your avatar. It looks like a Anthony Kiedis real doll and is fucking creepy.
