Man, Typing of the Dead is soooo stupid. Gameplay is great, but holy hell, there's a line of stupidity that shouldn't ever be crossed that they left behind a mile ago.
It's a parody of grindhouse movies, what'd you expect? It's fun though. Too bad there's glitches up the wazoo.

Also still mad that my Humble Bundle copy didn't get me one of the complimentary DLCs.

Re: Shelter 2, saw the $2 price too, was hoping it was some sort of discount for owners for Shelter 1 glitch, but it's just the soundtrack price for some reason.

I truly, madly, deeply do not understand the appeal of JRPGs. My parents bought me FFVII when it came out on PC for my birthday. I guess they assumed that since I liked games, all of them are alike. I was open-minded, at first, but my God, that shit is so dreadfully written and all around just plain fucking stupid and I understood this even as a child.

Edit: I say child, but I was 13 or 14.
Yeah, but so are 95% of all games with "writing". It was worth playing for the relatively novel mechanics and polygons.

I tried it some years ago (maybe 2) and it rejected my code.
Odd.

Previously Mass Effect retail to Origin activation had to be done via customer service. It wouldn't activate via their web service. Not sure if it was similar with the Steam to Origin transition.

Well I didn't go via customer support, that's for sure.

So I have ME2 Digital Deluxe on Steam, can I redeem that on Origin as the Digital Deluxe version or will it just redeem as Standard?
Yes

Not sure why I did it, but I just bought Ass Creed Rogue from Nuuvem. I'm not really interested in it at all and most of my immediate time will be spent on Hotline Miami 2 and then Bloodborne.

Maybe this is what its like when a person slowly starts going insane.

Because it's been far too long since you last SolidNakedSnakeEyesed a game?

Have you played the rest of the series? You could give the key to me and I could give you the whole story.

I don't drink, anymore, but still. Why get a Steam game that requires Uplay anyway? Not a gluten for doubling up on DRM.

The most likely scenario,

Have you played the rest of the series? You could give the key to me and I could give you the whole story.
I have ALL the other games, but I've barely played them. I spent quite a bit of time on Ass Creed IV until the hdd it was on died.

Ass IV is really decent. I like that one. The other ones for me are just meh. I'm not really sure about this Rouge one. I don't know, maybe if it was Assassin's Creed Moulin Rouge I could go for it.

I liked AC4:BF until I had done all the fun pirate stuff and the only thing left was boring ass "follow this guy for fifteen minutes" missions punctuated by "Be an office drone getting yelled at" missions.

I snakeybro'd Cities: Skylines from Nuuvem the other day and blame it on not enough deals lately that I was able to justify $18 on a pre-order.

Rogue actually isn't bad. I liked it better than Unity.

fuck, that doesn't really sound like much, huh?

It's more AC4. The Kotaku review sold me on the game, and I didn't regret my purchase at all.

I bought my kid Rogue for Christmas.  When he opened it, I said "Yeah, Unity is supposedly hella buggy but I heard Rogue was good".  Then his cousin opened Unity.

So, you know, don't let me near your kids.

That would be a SolidNakedSnakeEyes.

Fakeybroing is just saying fuck it and balls to the wall paying full price for a new release on Steam because.

SolidNakedSnakeEyesing is getting some bleh discount on a new release via other region pricing and then acting like you scored some amazing deal.

I kind of miss Snakeybro in some weird way. Why'd he have to go all talking about Rate Dape and stuff?

I really think he bought games at full price partially to drive us nuts. And it worked.

Carl has kind of picked up that slack though what with all his removing 800 kajillion games from his Steam account and then talking about pre-ordering Magicka 2.

Can I get an Assassin's Creed audiobook narrated by Morgan Freeman so that I don't have to actually play the games? I left off about 2 hours into ogAC, so I have some catching up to do.

And Uplay FTW.

I wish StarForce would make a client.

assassins creed as a whole is just a solidly mediocre franchise and i don't get the hype it gets every year (especially when the recent showings have been reputably pretty meh outside of black flag anyway). It's i guess supposed to be a stealth game, but it's stupid because the combat is stupidly easy so there's no reason to try to stay unseen, since there's no real penalty for getting caught like there is in something like thief. And not only is the combat insanely easy but it's also dull. The free running is cool, but outside of that I don't think the games do anything especially well, in terms of mechanics. I've played the first three games, and while the first was pretty bad the next two were okay, but I don't understand the love they got, either.

Black Flag was probably one of the better pirate simulators in recent memory. Not that there was much competition. There, um, Risen 2 and that's pretty much it. Well I guess there's Raven's Cry now too but I expect that's basically Risen 2 2.0.

The thing is though Black Flag, while being one of the best received AC games is also probably the least AC AC game. So much so that it feels more like a pirate game with some stealth stuff tacked on rather than vice versa.

I'm not sure what it says about their IP that one of the most popular entries is the one least like the rest of their IP. *shrug*

Lol mysterd is that you? I'm on mobile but I'm sure someone here can tell you why steam * uplay lite is better than straight u play

I don't wear a tin foil hat so I'm biased

Assassin's Creed series is really a mixture of platforming, action, and maybe some stealth.

AC1 was closer to a stealth game than the rest of them....

...after you do the major 9 assassinations, in the last 1/3rd of the game it really turns into an action-fest no matter what.

AC2 formed the blue-print - where the series into full-blown action game w/ maybe some stealth-missions here + there.

Been like that ever since.

yeah i realize that, but my point was they're portrayed as being stealth games and if that's what they're supposed to be they do a crappy job of it, and if that's not what they're supposed to be the action is pretty bad so they do a crappy job of that, too

How dare you not mention Sid Meier's Pirates in the same breath? That should be numero uno! Hell they've only re-released it like 5 times because it was so damned good.

(hops off my soapbox)

I understand and accept that, in this day and age, there must be some form of DRM for 95% of modern games. I get it, but there's no reason to needlessly double up. It's like getting your prostate checked and saying: "Doc, why just use the one finger? Go ahead and put that second finger in my stink eye."

AND, I can't possibly be the only person who's had next to no issues with Uplay.

AND, AND I don't wear a tin foil hat, but the undies make my penis sweat.

Isn't every ultra-hyped franchise pretty solidly mediocre, though? Especially the ones with annual releases? I mean, that's how games get popular, by appealing to the lowest common denominator.

I'm sure you're thinking primarily of COD and Battlefield, which I would gladly play ass creed over. But there are plenty of games/franchises that have been really hyped and actually been good (although none of them get yearly iterations). GTA is hyped to no end and, although it's not necessarily my thing, I think most people like those games. Same with Smash Brothers or pretty much any Nintendo game, Bethesda rpgs. Either way, pointing out that other hyped, milked franchises being mediocre doesn't really address my overall point that I don't get why Ass creed is appealing.

I've played the original on the Wii and quite enjoyed it. Sure it's cheesy, but I think they managed to write it in the sweet spot (cheesy enough, but not too cheesy.)

I should have bought that Sega Humble Weekly with Typing of the Dead a year ago (or whenever).  Would kill for a decent indie bundle or Steam sale.  I'm reduced to buying full price early access games.
