I really don't get why people obsess over other people's personal shit. Woman at high risk of cancer gets parts removed to avoid turning her kids into orphans; how the hell is that anybody else's business?
She made it other people's business because she did an interview to let people know she did it. She's trying to raise awareness for an issue she cares about.

Yeah it does look cool. I did not realize how similar it was to Metroid though. Not a bad thing, but seemingly pushes the boundary of being a ripoff.
Yeah, definitely looking like one of those games that rides that line between being inspired by and being a ripoff. I'm just hoping this covers my need for a new 2D metroid. Been way too long since Nintendo did one of those.

As in "Pharm should have love lettered the PS store a while ago so he doesn't have to pay $12 for God of War on Vita like a dummy."
You guys know I dont have to buy any games right? If I want to pay for a game its cause I want to. I didnt get it free and I want to play it so I gots to pay.

Of course it will be free on plus or something within a month of me buying it.

I thought they announced you guys at the same time as us in January?

Based on other areas, we're probably looking at 3 years from announcement. Time Warner announced they'd be giving everyone free speed upgrades this year.
yeah-- the official announcement was the end of January along with Charlotte. Raleigh had been on the link that Tyler posted for almost two years. Of course the situation is highly fluid based on dealing with state governments. It was one of the selected cities to start after Kansas City. I guess they figured with Research Triangle Park that demand would be high. I was shocked they picked Raleigh over Charlotte at the time. It makes a little more sense now.

Like I said Google is renting a building in Durham but has not released any timeline. Time Warner is offering 15/month internet with a two year commitment -- no thanks I am not cheap about everything-- just most things! :speaktothehand:

I thought of grabbing the GoW collection for PS3, but I can get the disc version for under $9 like new from Amazon Warehouse.
Don't get that--be patient and get the Saga instead. It goes on sale around holidays for cheap. It was $10 last Black Friday. That's GoW 1-3 on disc plus Origins as a voucher.

Did any of you see that article about the hipster who went to that South by Southwest festival in Austin and got kicked off the return flight to New York for wearing a *snerk* Comedy Central shirt that had the word fuck ing on it.  He claimed they threw him off without allowing him to change or turn the shirt inside out but cell phone video clearly shows them asking to either change the shirt, put on his jacket, or turning it inside out and him refusing to do any of it.  http://news.yahoo.com/video/man-kicked-off-southwest-flight-132031669.html

Hope he walked back to New York

I am not sure if I will be doing this for a lot of the games I play or not, but I thought this was the way I could contribute something to InvertedAccess that was a bit different from what I have seen before.  I attempted to write something that walked the line between a trophy guide and a review.

Take it easy on me. I am an engineer and not a writer :)

If they were just going to release a $15 emulated version of Metal Slug 3, they could have at least included the other 5 games in the series that came out on the same hardware. Throw in Metal Slug 6 as well.

In other words, re-release Metal Slug Anthology.

I could see it really doing well in Cary at least. It is dense enough there it would not be hard to get to a lot of homes with a small amount of fiber. Maybe the North Raleigh area too.

I love when people get called out on their shit. Especially if they provide the evidence themselves.

They have released a ton of those in Japan. It should only be a matter of time before they all make it here.

I will be waiting for them all to be $1 on a flash sale at some point and I'll back up the truck for the trophies. This is the main one I have to keep myself from buying. I put so many tokens into that game in the arcades.

I get the draw of Metal Slug as an arcade game, but I'm not sure what the appeal is here. I played through Metal Slug XX for PSP last year (it was free at one point) and beat it in about an hour. I'd never played any of the games before and that one didn't really turn me on to the series. Is that just a weak entry or is there something I'm missing? :whistle2:k

These might be the easiest trophies in the world to get.

LOL! I lived in an apartment in Cary one summer during college. I had a job as an intern at Nortel back before they imploded. I really loved the area, but I am so glad I decided to take a job in Atlanta (at a Nortel joint venture) instead of up there. Who knows if I would have found another job without having to move when everyone got axed seemingly all at once.

Ill give you St. Anger of course, but what was wrong with Death Magnetic? Bass was maybe a little low, but the drums were fixed mostly and I didn't think it sounded weird at all.

Not that I think AJFA is a bad sound or anything, daddy just likes his bass.
It was bricked/compressed beyond almost anything else ever released, which created frequent moments of noticeable distortion in the audio.

I love the idea, especially if you do it for more obtuse titles that we wouldn't play normally.

You could probably skip the specifics on controls if you wanted to tighten it up a bit.

I think the personality you find in the Metal Slug series helps it a lot. Random stuff like being turned into a zombie (which can be a strategy since it makes you immune to bullets) or the different vehicles you get make it stand out when compared to games like Contra.

It's good for trying to set and beat high scores for yourself. If I'm playing these games I tend to stick to 1 credit and see how far I can go. It probably helps that I'm usually competing against the scores of friends in whatever games happen to be in the cabinet at the time.

But $15 for just the one game (even if it tends to be people's favorite) is just too greedy. Maybe if they bothered to add content or include the other games I could see it, but it's just an emulated version of the original game, probably with some online leaderboards thrown in.

At the top of my SNK wish list would be an online enabled port of the Last Blade series. Those games always seem to be forgotten by SNK, and in a lot of ways I enjoy them more than Samurai Shodown. Instead, they'll keep re-releasing the older KOF games and Mark of the Wolves.

Good point on the controls. I really mentioned that since the game was so shitty about describing them. I probably should have just mentioned that and moved on, but since there were trophies tied to the oddly controlled group attack thing I felt the need to describe it. I could have still probably done that and cut out a lot of other stuff.

Yes, I find something like that is helpful, that's what I have done on a few of my reviews, a review then some starting tips and some trophy help at the bottom to help them get things started if they decide they want to purchase it, particularly if that information is missing from / contrary to the trophy guide I had followed.

I missed this until it was just quoted.

For me, everything was just turned up way too loud, and it sounded like shit if you had the volume up even a bit too high. Someone did a comparison of the album against the unmastered version that was released for Guitar Hero, and the difference was night and day.

Gator, your article wasnt bad for an engineer.  I certainly cant do any better.   The one thing I would say is that the title was a little strange.  I didnt know where the name of the game ended.  not sure if thats cause I was reading it on my phone or not.

I do not know if we really need something like this though.  The short road maps of the guides on Ps3T are really all that is needed.  If they are written with correct info anyway.

Taco Bell is ditching the Waffle Taco for the Biscuit Taco.

As for its latest offering, a Taco Bell representative said it’s “more than just a biscuit, it’s a warm, fluffy, buttery biscuit, folded in the shape of a taco” and it’s here to stay. Starting Thursday, people can get it filled with options like eggs, sausage, cheese or deep-fried chicken and jalapeno honey sauce. It has between 370 and 470 calories, depending on the fillings.

Oh yeah I remember reading about the difference between the Guitar Hero version vs. the CD. I've never actually noticed anything weird listening to it, but thats just in my car (with only 2 of 4 working speakers, and those two are blown a little) and with my iphone earbuds.

Yeah, it wasn't near as bad as the trash can lid drums on St. Anger.
