This thread will attempt to provide a place to discuss past/present/future PC gaming deals. While mainly focusing on Steam games, any standout sales may also be presented. I will not be updating every Daily/Weekly/etc. sale. The tools to help individuals become a smarter shopper will be provided below.

You're totally CPU bottlenecked.

D has always bought Indie crap, here and there.

Just.... yes, I do buy it now more than I ever have before.

My problem has always been, "When the hell am I gonna play an Indie?"

I always seem to drop some expensive-MysterD $$$ on a AAA title - i.e. $5 to maybe $12 - so, I'm gonna go play this right now!

Indie titles, I have these train of thoughts: "Eh, I picked up a ton in a bundle, didn't spent much on these, got it in a trade on the Cesspool, or got it in a Code-Drop/Giveaway - I'll get to these when I do get to 'em."

Who said anything about enjoying them? We don't even play them most times. We just collect them because we maybe kinda sorta one day possibly might suddenly feel like playing them except we won't

Disclaimer that I unfortunately feel the need to make here: I'm being silly, but it is actually kind of like that for most of us. It's a bit of an addiction. No one actually really cares what you do or don't do and we're just being goofy, not actually attacking you. If you lighten up a bit you'll get along much better here.

Do we need another font and color for non-sarcasm facetiousness?

Guys, this is thread is in the Video Game Deals forum, try and keep it on topic.
I'm sure you just checked here because someone complained and I have a pretty good idea of who it was but this thread has always been like this. We're (mostly) friends here and so we do venture off topic but we also talk about games. This also happens in the console threads as well. I see it all the time. I know you guys only care because someone bugged you but let's try and be fair here. If no one is insulting anyone else then I really don't see the problem.

I know you console people don't care for us and I get it but we're a bit of a community here in this little PC ghetto and I'd like to keep it that way. If you want to shut it down and get all gestapo on us then go ahead. I'm not going to beg and I can certainly take myself and my contributions, many of which do pertain to gaming, elsewhere if it's such a huge concern.

If we had some MysterD-worthy deals (i.e. 75% off or better off lowest MSRP or $12 or less on AAA titles very quickly) like we did in the old AmazonDVG-Tony days, we might have some actual game-deal discussions in here.

But, no - Dragon Age Inquisition is unfortunately not even $20 yet. :p

i learned my lesson, when i was exclusively gaming on consoles. i would have over 100 + physical games. i would pretty frequent flip games, by trading them into bestbuy, gamestop, and amazon. as soon as i got down to around 40-50 games. it would go back up to 70+ games. i realize at that point i had a problem, because i have not even play half of those games. alot of times, i found myself spending 5 mins trying to decide what game to play. if i do the same on pc, it would just be a waste of storage space on my hard drive, instead of physical space. plus. many indie looks like ios/ android game with their graphics. i can play those type of games on my smartphone for free.

I'll say you probably fixed the issue way sooner than any of us ever did. I've been backlogging since PS2. I've stopped/fixed it on the physical side, but PC is still an issue. I've spent an hour stuck to the computer tonight deciding what I'm going to play.

As someone who has tons of HDD space and is quite lazy - don't worry, you're gonna slaughter that 250 SSD drive + your 1 TB in a matter of no time. Especially if you start buying and downloading PC games like me and some of the rest of us here like crazy.

And especially w/ games like Star Citizen, that are going to want over 100+ GB of HDD space; and many other current games asking for 40-60 GB or so of HDD space i.e. FFXIII, Wolf: TNO, The Evil Within, NBA 2K15, etc.

For internals that play my games from - I have a two 1 TB HDD's that are almost full; and my 2 TB HDD has only a little over 380 GB left.

I have two externals for game back-ups - 1 of them is 500 GB and is almost full; and the other is 2 TB and has about 800 GB open.

Thanks for the info. Good to know.

EDIT:

Incidentally, this is why the forum layout sucks. We can't even see WHO the mods are unless we hover our mouse pointers over their names!
Agreed. In the old days, it was pretty much apparent who the mods were and who weren't, w/out doing mouse-hovering.

1. Bingo, had a few complaints.

2. It's a deals thread. There's a Steam Discussion thread in the PC games forum. Why not take the socializing there?

3. Jeepers, a little sensitive. My dropping in has nothing to do with the fact that it's pc or console. I love all video gaming and don't limit myself to anyone one medium.

I'm glad to see that no one here said anything malicious and no members were attacked or belittled, but as a Deals thread, it's appreciated that you keep the talk related to deals. There's nothing wrong with group specific social forums, we have them in other locations. I'm about to ditch and go out for the evening, but I ask that you please keep the chatter in here to a minimum and move the party over to the Steam games thread.

i know, pc games tends to be way larger size than console games. i highly doubt i will go through my 250 ssd + 1 tb hard drive. i have been pretty good at keeping control of what i buy, and deleting games i finished playing. i only use my ssd for os boot up, and some program like microsoft office, and etc.. i am only worrying about my ssd+ wd blue dying on me. i also regret not getting wd black series hard drive, since wd black series tend offer better reliability, and longer warranty

I didn't realize you were a mod, until the others here pointed it out.

Anyways, I think one of the concerns might be - well, this thread might go down the tubes in amount of posting, if we do post elsewhere about non-deal stuff.

And, well - I doubt the other Steam thread you mentioned is anywhere as popular + gets as much posting as this one frequently does. I think that thread might be buried a bit on these Forums, as well.

Seriously - there are no great or worthwhile PC deals happening, at this moment of time. I wish it was the old days like Steam decided to have really good PC download deals (before they kind of scaled that back) + Amazon DVG when Tony was around (since Amazon DVG certainly scaled back) - but, that Golden Era of great PC gaming digital deals feels kinda dead in 2015.

The main reason we even have a Steam deals thread is the off-topic chatter. By telling us to please move the party away, you've pretty much sealed its fate and cursed it to die.

Ah well, it had to end sometime.

You know it's been like this, a loose conversation thread with deals, for years literally so I just wonder why now it needs to change to please a couple of people.

I do want to talk about games and deals and I generally don't want to intentionally offend anyone, but my mind tends to wander and my conversations tend to stray a bit sometimes. If it's going to be such a huge deal then I just won't even bother. It's not like there isn't plenty of other places to have conversations on the internet and not like I'm not already Steam friends with most of the regulars on this thread anyhow.

I get the point about there being an off topic forum and a PC forum but for better or worse the bulk of the conversation among PC gamers on CAG has always been in this thread, or the previous incarnations of it, for years. It is what it is and it's hard to get people change habits and move somewhere else. Not exactly great having a conversation by yourself either.

I guess whoever complained can feel smug about getting this thread strictly moderated to deals and basically turned into a dull Reddit like format. You'll also have to do a lot of moderating and deleting if being that hardcore strict about non-deal posts is really what you intend to do since I don't think others will leave or change so easily or take so kindly to your intervention.

I don't know about y'all - but I think Steam's current Sega deals are quite underwhelming...
it seems like this week is sega's birthday or something. every authorized gaming site is discounting sega games in various prices, not just steam

It feels like this is a shot at the last great PC gaming deals/chatter thread.

Neuro did this Steam+ thread to put all us PC gamers + all the PC digital deals all under one roof...

...instead of having a scattershot of 5,000 different lackluster PC deals threads about Gamersgate slacking on their deals; GMG's deals getting posted here + there in that thread; and other PC threads that got nowhere to even close to the amount of action as a Steam-titled Thread would.

Yeah, seems like it's Sega + Bethesda mania on most sites.

Unfortunately, most deals are not MysterD-worthy or I already own the game.

This is easy to explain.

They're trying to get their yearly profits up. The fiscal year in the US ends on March 31st. They have more sales, they get more money, and they keep the investors nice and quiet.

I should probably grab FO3 GOTY edition from GOG. I just don't feel like spending $4 when it's not guaranteed to run on my laptop out of the box

Let's not make it a you-vs-me thing. That's just going to cause everyone to bristle. Guinevere is just doing the job that's been asked.

To whomever complained, it's kind of rude of you to come into a thread and decide for yourself that it isn't what you think it should be, This Steam thread has been going on for years just fine. In fact, most of the PC threads have been rolled into this one so that it doesn't clutter up the Video Games and Deals thread. The people that use and contribute to this thread have molded it into what it is.

And what is it? It's a pretty healthy micro community. We're using the forum and we're talking about deals for the most part. Most of the users are friends (or at least friendly) and generate lots of page clicks and ad views for the site. A site like this wants community/views/and clicks -- why not just let it be?

My opinion doesn't matter, but I will say the thread rarely gets out of hand and most of the conflict is pretty good-natured. Many people contribute in ways that may not be immediately apparent to someone casually viewing the thread. What I'm saying is that this thread is an asset to CAG. It's good for everyone except the malcontents.

Deal Talk --> Defense Grid is on sale for 50%. But it's been way cheaper.

Dropping more codes.  Im sure a lot of you already have these, but hopefully some don't.  Please use only if you plan to play and not let it die in your backlog.  O:)

Hitman: Absolution

DCYY4-DCIHC-42NHL

Deus Ex Human Revolution: Directors Cut

09TAR-3EYYQ-CJRFK

Laura Croft and the Guardian of Light

VR4Q9-AD43W-BZV76

Standard Lenovo Y50 specs. It's strong enough to run the game, but the Steam page warns it might not run on Windows 8.

Thanks for the catch on GOG though.

I own all those already, though.

Hopefully, someone else can Spoder those gems!

Doesn't Fallout 3 run on everything, even MysterDs?
FO3 + NV run on Toasters just fine.

EDIT:

No. Thanks though, I'll check this if I decide to grab it.
Bookmark that, in case you do decide to change your mind + see if you want to get it going on your rig.

If you do try - good luck. Hope it works out, whenever you do.

I loved FO3 + New Vegas.

I had to do a bit of tweaking to get NV running properly on my previous y50-whatever model, but it wasn't too terrible. Once I did that, it played just fine. I assume F03 will need the same.

I wonder if G4WL on Win 8 would be a major problem.

Could always find a way to work around that, if need be.

Does FO3 + NV on Win 8 need any 4GB+ RAM LAA, too?

fwiw i have fo3 and windows 8 and it booted up fine with a crapton of mods installed, also...

nv is a ton buggier than fo3 so i assume if nv works fo3 would as well

i'd say it's worth the risk, four bucks is a small gamble for a really good game

plus dat +1
