The modders hiding their mods for fear of getting stolen are just tin-foil crazies.
As someone who has had his (and many more created by several friends) mod content stolen and sold... even after stating in clear words that the content is not to be used in any commercial manner... they're really not.

(Well, technically these are game translations, but it's the same basic idea. It's a game modification.)

Honestly.. who at Steam thought this was a great idea?  It just doesn't make sense to me.  If anything it makes me hate the community more.  Especially since, let's be honest, most of the Skyrim mods are total rubbish.  And the ones that do work, work because you install them with 100000 other mods to interact with them.

The Most Ridiculous Skyrim Mods People Are Trying To Sell On Steam

See this is pointless. Anyone who would actually buy the Gaben-licensed community mod crap has already gargled his sweaty meat marbles and doesn't need HD pics of their nightly meal.

Who at Valve thought it would be a good to come up with a way to make more money? Uh, one of the business analysts I'd assume. You do know Valve isn't your buddy or pal but a company out to make money, yes? SHOCK AND HORROR!

Right.. continued money.. on things like games and DLC... the mods are what bring people... if people have to pay for mods.. then that actually lessens the replayability of stuff. How would Skyrim have been without mods? Garbage.

skyrim was fine without mods. most games are fine without mods. mods make them better, but games are fine without them usually (outside of the rare instance of something like dark souls where it's basically broken without a fix).

it sucks that mods aren't all going to be free now, but really it's hard to argue rationally why we shouldn't have to pay for them. i think, as mentioned by myself and others, the bigger issue is the cut itself. it's kind of ridiculous in the skyrim example that those with the lowest cut are the modders.

Anyone that's against the paid mod crap is a straight up unhinged anti free enterprise lunatic that should be put down on sight. Yes, really.
Most of the complaints I hear have nothing against free enterprise, but rather fairness and regulation. Selling mods is opening an incredible can of worms that I don't think they're prepared to deal with. Or maybe they are prepared to just take their cut and look the other way when there are injustices.

At least this way some modders can get paid for their work if they choose to.

The "concern" about people stealing mods and selling them is super overblown.
1. I believe everyone should have an opportunity to profit on their own work. Unfortunately, modifications fall outside of that scope unless they are fully absorbed and released by the developer/publisher so that the work can be vetted and the public can hold someone accountable when things break, or in the case of discovered fraud.

2. It's really not overblown at all. In fact, it's not at all uncommon. Mostly the community polices itself. Can you imagine how ineffective Valve is going to be at policing anything?

User mods are complete crap.
With the knowledge that you dislike many things, I will just say "no, they are not." There are many user mods that actually fix games or make them even better. Yes, there's a lot of garbage out there -- in any pile of free stuff there's always garbage. But many mods are developed by professionals in their spare time because they enjoy the game.

In off-topic sale news, apparently Amazon is too lazy to even price match now and I are upset (or having a lot of rum). I could get Skyrim for free, which is really really tempting finally, even if I've questioned how much I'd like it.

I wish they'd match GMG VIP price for Cities: Skylines but doubt they match stuff like that, mostly as I'll have $20 in free Amazon monies and be interested in it.

Seriously though, if Amazon gets lazy price matching, going to have to actually look into how to e-mail them, because I've figured a boring but doable way to rack those $5 GC little bastards up because I figured Amazon would at least still price-match Steam even if they gave up on trying to actually compete Steam.

Injustices? Seriously? LOL.

I find how Bestheda leading this "Paidmod" movement is almost laughable.

Most of their games are buggy and crap in their original form and thanks to the modders, they become good and playable. Now they want a cut of this? Meh, Bestheda should be PAYING THE MODDERS, not us, for fixing their damn games

sometimes, I wish Tebow was here, Bruticis.. to take marketshare away from you. hahaha At least, his spanky spanky comments were humorous
Due to free enterprise, I now own both personalities. You get Bruticis for free, but you'll have to pay a premium for tebow.

Knee slapper! You should look into a stand up routine or maybe a paper route. Imagine all those dick mods you could buy with that income.

It'll only work if you join me. Most of the jokes will be you spouting something ridiculously ultra-Conservative and bigoted while I mock you in a fake redneck Jeb Bush accent and everyone in the audience laughs.

Why would I work when I can just exploit you and take your money?

I get that you probably don't go outside much but that's just a touch over dramatic, no?
You don't know anything about me, oh helmeted one. No, it's not dramatic because in any large mod community there is theft. Some of it is outright dishonest, some of it is misunderstanding.

Think about how much you hate everyone on the internet. Think about how stupid they are. Then give those people an SDK and a means to monetize anything they can grab and then you might see the problem.

Of course, there are plenty of hard working people that have talent and build things of value. I have no quarrel with them being able to make as much money as the market will bear. Then you have the others who muck things up for everyone else. There is no culpability. It's a horrible idea unless there's way more structure in it than there is now.

You're gonna make Bruticis' head asplode
Maybe he'll also realize that his user title is the reason why every topic he posts in devolves into stupid, off-topic nonsense. He brings the decline with him. It's inevitable.

Shame how all of these companies that were regarded as the "good guys" have turned out to be some of the worst in the industry. I'm talking about you Valve, and Activision Blizzard.

If anyone is looking for a relaxing easy platformer try Spelunky. The difficulty isn't maddeningly frustrating, at all.

Also, if you're wondering, Binding of Isaac: Rebirth is a better game than Spelunky.

Spelunky is too easy. I fell asleep the first time i beat it and controlled the movement with my snoring
