I thought about picking up the PS3 version if it ever got down to the $5 range (it's been as low as $10), but now that there is a superior PS4 version now I'll have to hesitate unless it ends up being crossbuy.whatever abyss odyssey is will be coming to ps4 soon.

It's a 2D sidescroller beat-em-up set in Santiago, Chile. A warlock is in the abyss below the city, but his dreams have become so vivid that they have become reality and broken through to the surface and attacking the city. It is your job to journey down into the Abyss and kill the warlock.
You start off as just one character, but eventually you can pick from 2 other main characters. You can also capture enemies (each which have their own moves and special moves) and transform into them to use their abilities. Since the levels are all manifestations of the warlock's dream it is part rogue-like as the levels are procedurally generated.
If you die you come back as a weaker soldier who can't shift into other characters. If you make it to the next altar (checkpoint) you can change back into the main character. If you die again you have to start over.
