That's right though - the attraction to mobile for these companies isn't even the obscene market penetration (everybody's got a phone in their pocket at this point), it's the low entry cost and the even lower standards. But if they made a solid-snake-in-a-box match 3 game by investing $30k in development they'd probably make their money back and a little profit. I have to assume the influx of indies to console and PC have a lot less to do with market penetration and much more to do with an affection for video games. You can
see the labor of love in pretty much every one that's released whether you like the game or not. The big game companies lost their love for the industry a long long time ago and I'd be surprised if most of them didn't follow Konami out the door over the next few years.
