With your amount of kids I was allowing you to complain about washing the dishes since it is a big time chore. But if you like it more power to you. I dont like washing dishes or doing laundry but I dont find them a big deal. Though I do like vacuuming too! Not cause its relaxing though but because I like a clean floor since I try to never wear shoes in the house and want to keep the carpet and wood nice for as long as I can.
Laundry is the worst. Well doing the laundry aint so bad, its the fucking folding and putting away that is the pain to me.

everybody looks way too deep into race/gender in games. most games are made by men, and most dev team pictures show 99% white dudes. excluding japanese devs, cause they like white people for some reason.

I think it is cool that Rust did that too. I like to assume most people are like me in that they play a game they think would be interesting regardless of what type of character role you are put in. Unfortunately all people do not think the same as the article pointed out.

At the same time, I am not going to think that the makers of the Witcher 3 were doing something awful by only having white characters in the game if that happened to be the way it was designed. Of course the ideal would be for the human race in the game to really cover the human race, and it makes me wonder why they would choose to do that. If the fantasy angle is their only ammo then that is pretty sad, but I just wouldn't want to immediately cry racism (which I am not saying anyone is) because of it. Now, if they had a character creator and you could not pick anything but a white character that would definitely be a problem.

As a white male with no frame of reference I have always wondered what is worse in the eyes of minorities? An all white character game like Witcher 3 or a show like Game of Thrones where the only non-white characters are usually slaves (the Dothraki are the only exception I can think of at the moment).

I don't remember the exact descriptions of a lot of people from the books, but I always thought Westeros was just about all white people but there were all kinds of races across the sea. I think the Dornish are supposed to be like Latino-esque.

I don't have much to contribute to the race in games discussion. I would never be more or less likely to play a game because of the character's race. In a medium where I'm just as likely to be playing as an alien or a furry mascot I can't say I've ever put much thought into it. Whenever I can create a character I try to make it look like myself because I think it's funny seeing something resembling me in the game. Obviously everyone should be able to have that luxury. I can't think of a game where you could only make a certain race, though.

Mary helps. Just let the clothes fold itself in your arms. and putting away i just throw the piles at the kids and they put them in the drawers. it couldn't be easier. it's not like im using a bucket of water and clothes lines/etc.

Ah, so you dont really like laundry. Cause you dont do the laundry! Washing machine, dryer and kids are doing the work!

I thought that's what you meant by 'do the laundry'. I also clean my kids room when i tell them to clean their room. and i get trophies when i tell them to get trophies. im accomplishing alot living vicariously through my kids ;)

I hate ironing.
I iron like nobody's business. I iron almost every day durning the winter when I wear long sleeve button ups. It gets old by the end of winter, but Im an absolute stud when it comes to ironing. I iron better than all women and most dry cleaners.

In the summer I wear t shirts and polos and we have a dryer that has a steam function so pop those in there to get wrinkles out. Doesnt work well on long sleeve stuff though.

I am not sure a sell-sword would be an example of a positive non-white character, but I did forget about the people from Dorne. I am 3 episodes back so I just saw where they were introduced, but I assume the Sand Snakes will be a cool set of characters that are not white (or male either) at least.

I mostly wear polos cause its hot as fuck here most of the year.  But I try to buy button ups that are wrinkle free or resistant and they seem to work well so I do very little ironing.

Yea well the J Crew shirts I wear the damn collars always need to be ironed so I just iron the whole thing.

Personally find the second one far more irritating. The all white casts are vaguely annoying at times, but the ones where all the PoC are the evil badguys or slaves are the worst. GoT gets a half-pass though 'cause all the Dornish people are badass.

As for the Japanese devs mostly making games about white people, its not really true. We're just coming from a different frame of reference, in Japan, the default for all of those characters would be that they're Japanese, unless they're given features that are supposed to indicate otherwise (large noses, chins, etc). Just like when we give characters over here weird hair or eye colors, we still recognize them as white, because that's the default in Western media.

I hate dusting.  No matter how much you dust and vacuum, the shit comes back.

MGS V: Ground Zeroes trades in for $7 base at Gamestop (so $11.20 after bonuses). I think I'll dump my $5 copy from Kmart.com thanks to Plus.

This is what I assumed would be the answer trying to apply it to as close a situation as I could come up with. To me exclusion is better than inclusion when you are the unwanted party or third wheel in social situations. Of course, both suck but that was the closest type of situation I could think of.

This review makes me want to see the movie even more!

http://theconcourse.deadspin.com/the-entourage-movie-is-the-hate-watching-event-of-the-s-1708643396

the first line of this movie is, “I may have to jerk it before I even get there,”
That review is fairly spot on (though sheds more of a negative light on the show then I'd like), but I still gotta give it 0/5 Diamonds for:

A) "there were myriad other instances" Ugh.

B) He didn't like the rimjob episode? How is that the episode that turned him off the show?

Yup, wrinkle free works for me. I mean, they're not 100% wrinkle free but basically no shirt is. Life is way too short to bother ironing.

Race in games - Are there really people that are bothered when a game has different races in it? Like, are they bothered that CJ is black in GTA San Andreas? Why would anyone care about that? The only reason I could imagine is if they are racist. That is super weird to me.

Dishwashers - Crunch is right on the money. Dishwashers are amazing, they're time savers, and I thought I read that newer models use less water than doing dishes by hand. Anyone who has a working dishwasher but doesn't use it is insane.

We grew up washing and drying dishes by hand and it fucking sucked. My mom is more well-off now and I keep telling her to buy one and she keeps refusing. Whatever, she is insane for not owning one.

I don't mind doing laundry, what annoys me is how long it takes and you can't do anything that you can't pause (like multiplayer) when doing it. The one nice thing about doing laundry during college is they have so many machines in the basement of the dorm, I just wait till the weekend to do it when most everyone is gone so that I can get all the laundry done in an hour and a half using several washers and several dryers.

Entourage - Movie was pretty good. Ending was much better than the TV show's ending, which was absolute garbage (such garbage that most of it is written off within the first 5 minutes of the movie). I thought the plot was a bit flimsy but it was still funny and just like the Entourage of old. That Deadspin writer was right about one thing though, way too many cameos that are basically there for the sake of "hey, look who we got in the movie!" or "hey, remember when movie star X was in the TV show for 5 minutes? here they are again!"

They nailed the Brotherhood of Steel but they couldn't do a better job with the deathclaw? it looks like angry Ren in the thumbnail pic.

Yeah I definitely relate to every Nordic character wearing animal skin armor. White Power! At least Skyrim had Redguard, I couldn't find anything that looked like an Irish-Croatian so I just went with one of the elf races.

Actually looking it up I guess I should have chosen a Breton.

Man I take back any praise I may have had for this review. It's awful.

It belongs on r/iamverysmart, the writer seems far more worried about impressing you with his vocabulary and wordplay than he is reviewing the movie. He also gives away way too much of the film.

Emmanuelle Chriqui is pregnant in like 99% of the film so she's not exactly part of any sexy scenes.

There is some good T and A but I don't think from anyone famous. I like looking at it of course but tits in movies just don't really matter to me anymore, I can see way way better stuff online whenever I want.

You need to start using words like mawkishly in your IA reviews.

Yeah why bother? Dumb women and minorities wanting to see themselves reflected is so stupid. Why can't they just leave us alone. Games are for entertainment not politics. /sarcasm

^It's seriously attitudes like that on why we need change.

The problem with your assessment and polygon's is how its just a long rant about why white people are represented over minorities. This is repeated ad nauseaum. I would like them informing devs, educating them, etc, etc, rather than "This is a problem, reasons". Look for a solution, don't just toot the problem horn.

Managed a new personal best in yesterday's DC.  If I ever get lucky enough to hit a 2 million score I think I'd be able to happily hang up my jetpack and retire from Spelunky (for a month or so).

Also, with all the dishwasher talk I'm surprised no one pointed out that any dishwasher made after like 1980 will almost definitely save a ton more water than washing by hand.  I mean I pre-rinse with the best of 'em but even I wouldn't want to wash every last spoon and dish fully myself if the appliance can do it quicker and more efficiently.  What's next, Zimm gonna churn us up some butter and put a record on the Victrola?   :D

Congrats. I saw it had all the making of a great run then I shit the bed doing something stupid. I don't remember. I think shooting a shotgun with spikes too close behind me.

And I already pointed that out, jerk! But you have to add in the added power consumption that a dishwasher has that hand washing doesn't have.

Also I've never seen a need to pre-rinse. Just get the food and super sticky stuff off (like peanut butter) and throw it in. I thought most dishwashers tell you not to pre-rinse too thoroughly?

my point is, maybe they should get involved if they want to be represented. why is it they get to be pissed off about someone else's vision? there's plenty of other media made by women/minorities that cater to women/minorities.

The first step is admitting there's a problem. Yes, the next is working on it. At conferences at GDC there are devs that have been doing exactly that. The only way to properly represent a group is to have people from the group involved.

The thing is lots of women and minorities see how unwelcoming the community is and decide to take their talents elsewhere. Just look at the type of harassment women get in GamerGate. Yes, that's their choice. But sweeping stuff under the rug won't cause change and that's why those types of articles are necessary.

Lots of people don't see a problem and it goes just to show the privilege that is afforded to you. You are represented so you don't care. The issue supposedly doesn't effect you.

One of the main reasons why you see women make films for or about women or black people write and star in their films because Hollywood is just like the game industry, run by white men who only want to see themselves represented. They're basically forced to do that to get any representation.

I'll drop the topic since we won't go anywhere with it. We've all made up our minds. I made the original post because the article picks apart some of the stupid arguments gamers throw out.

Feel free to block me if I'm annoying any of you. I'll try to calm things down since no one likes to see this stuff.

Sorry, there's been a lot of dishwasher talk.

Good point about the power consumption, although I've never known anyone to handwash their dishes in cold water, so there's probably the water heater energy cost to factor in if you're going that route too? Hell if I know, my degree's in political science, lol. I just remember reading several Popular Mechanics-esque reports that said that by almost any measurement (water, energy, cleanliness, etc) any device made in the last ~30 years is the best way to go.

And you're right, that includes not pre-rinsing, but I'm obsessive about that and can't let it go. My defense/justification is that I use the barest trickle of water and shut it off immediately in the moments I'm not directly using it. Unlike say, my husband, who splashes around like the elephants on The Jungle Cruise ride at Disneyland.
