Your opinion echoes mine perfectly.

And you can't overstate just how much time it takes to finish a dungeon. It's not even that it's hard; it just takes a long ass time. Like at least fifteen minutes to clear the first dungeon which is only ten floors.

You feel every single agonizing second of those dungeons. It's not a long game but holy cow it STILL runs long.

But after Dredmor where aeons could pass and humanity could evolve into new, horrifying, inhuman shapes before you clear a floor, the bar is high.

But yes SS floors play too damn long. You level up like crazy and don't really need most of the crap so you can just beeline through. It's not like you're gonna die with that +20 sword and shield you melded.

BUT... the cruelest thing of all, rarely the game throws a persistent collectable that only exists to unlock a story skit (Which then provides a useful in game item but who cares about that? In this game, with these characters, the skit is the valuable item.) in these floors so you're always worried about leaving without clearing these boring-ass floors.

And the post-game dungeon is 256 fuck ing floors. No fuck ing way. Some magnificent person transcripted the finale cutscenes on GameFAQs since nobody else loves this game.

Also Kuu-chan is the absolute worst sidekick since TW101's Luka. I cannot believe that little piece of shit.

Note, I rag on it but I really, really wish we had more of the story. It was so goofy but so fun.

I'm actually playing that now. Main character I can't stand, though I hear this is intentional, but the rest of the game is pretty good so far. The 3D is barely implemented unfortunately but otherwise it seems like a good remake. Think all the cut scenes have been fully voiced so far though not the series trademark vignettes.

Oh and Mieu isn't my cup of tea either but he's still less annoying than Luke.
its not a remake its a nerfed port with some minor odds and ends. Ignoring the glitches for the ps2 version thats the better version since it has multiplayer, is on a bigger screen, a nice controller to play it with and best of all it has the world map glitch which is very nice to have. Either way abyss is honestly pretty bad. awful characters, terrible story with plot holes you could drive a semi through, the game drags on forever and the writing is pretty obnoxious.

Caved in and bought a retail copy of Tales of Hearts R from gamestops website for a sealed copy.

I would have waited for another price drop...but I love the Tales games and need my fix for a new rpg. Also, im not sure if the game will be out of print before a price drop would happen lol.

I did the same not too long ago. Wasn't my favorite Tales game but I still had fun with it.

I played Sorcery Saga and, while short, the dungeons run a little long, is a little too easy, and a little too full of worthless items unlike the tightly tweaked better examples of the genre.

But HOLY COW is it charming. If you have any love for goofy slapstick fun anime it is worth playing almost just for the story. I mean, don't get me wrong, it's nothing especially good, but as a comedy VN interspersed with inoffensive but inexpert Shiren-inspired roguelike segments it's enjoyable and worth the $15 or so.
Yup. It nailed the story by using 'miscommunication' as a source of humor, and it just worked really well.

I actually platinum'd the game. Kinda brutal. My biggest complaint was that it was far too easy, I never died, which made it sort of a casual grinder.

if you like that, grab Adventure Bar Labyrinth before PSM goes down (very soon). it's got very similar design (keep equipment, start dungeon level 1). Once you clear the main dungeon you unlock an endless one. There is dlc but it's not needed imo.

Doing a bit of research, apparently SS is a series in Japan that used to feature Arle and Puyo Puyo characters but still lots of curry, which explains the skill and ease with the goofy charm: A lot of experience.

And also the weaknesses of their roguelike making skills, a lack of experience at that. This is the first roguelike of tha tseries.

Looking for more game deals on some games like Danganronpa 1 & 2 (haven't played those and I keep reading how good they are). Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. I have been trying to discover new websites to purchase games (physical) and any forums of interest. So please recommend away... Thanks in advance.

I've been looking for a deal on the Dangan Ronpa series for a while with no luck. The best I could do was a few weeks ago, I used a B2G1 coupon and birthday coupon to get the first game and two other games, then flipped those other two games to Best Buy to nearly break even.

For Danganronpa if you don't mind digital I would wait a tiny bit. If you look up the Ultra Disparate Girls post on the playstation blog someone from Nis America basically confirmed they would be going on sale.

Both are hard to find physical copies of and getting a deal on them is even harder. If you can get them for $40 or less and want physical copies I recommend snagging them up while you can. The digital versions on the other hand have been on sale before and will go on sale again, I downloaded the first game for around $20 last year.

Keep an eye on Amazon Warehouse Deals. I was able to get the 2nd one complete for $26 a few weeks ago.

This is what I was talking about.  Was on mobile before so couldn't attach it.  Hasn't gone on sale yet so I assume it will sometime soon.

Thanks I will keep an eye out for the sale. How much GB is each game? Memory cards are too expensive and that why I prefer physical (plus if you don't like a game, you can resell it) 😉

sort of a reverse idea but if you have a bunch of vita games you want to get rid of, gamestop is still offering pretty good values especially if you have a 50% trade in coupon. I traded in most of my vita games for $10-20 each, stuff like Akibas Trip and One Piece etc. Bought em all last summer, never touched em, realized I will probably never play most of my vita games so dumped them for over $200 in credit.

I have no idea what gamestop does with all these vita games though, I've never seen a single person buy or even shop in the vita section in my local gamestops.

Vita games are now becoming sought after. Most gamestops vita selection is pretty small. Their online sales most be doing pretty good if they're offering good trade in credit for them. Also, the games you mention are pretty uncommon to find in stores used so that could be why the trade in credit is pretty high. And also, vita games arent cheap.

Some physical vita games just don't have a lot of copies floating around anymore. Doesn't help that many future games are going digital only.

Right, I'm guessing that many incoming physical vita games are going to become sought after. The print runs are down, the layman is not purchasing them at retail, and some will blow far below the radar. Obviously not all games will be worth having but any vita game that is above average and below msrp is probably worth picking up.

I'm shitty at trying to hoard rare items, so probably yeah me selling all my vita games probably means all of them will shoot up to $100 on ebay each this year.  Oh well, i'd rather have gamestop credit than deal with ebay and having tons of vita boxes around.

Only thing that motivated me to sell em now was in case Sony gets off its ass and comes up with a mobile games strategy, whether thats moving to mobile phones or coming out with a new handheld.  The latter seems very doubtful though, given how the market has gone mobile and Nintendo has the rest of it pretty locked up.

I've hoarded a lot since the past year but I keep running out of room to hoard them since my space is very limited. I end up purging stuff I don't need or figure I'll never touch. Sometimes I win sometimes I lose.

But the Vita games are a piece of cake to hoard...especially compared to PSP...do you know what 120 PSP games look like? Small as they are it ain't pretty!

I've also noticed the market and street prices of games and even systems are dropping faster these days. Even we see more Nintendo stuff getting cheaper on occasion (though still rare)...so yeah my new policy is: buy em, play em, keep ones worth revisiting, purge the rest. It's easier said than done I swear so don't feel like you gotta do it.

Yeah video games are a horrible investment. It's hard to tell what will keep it's value and what doesn't (such as surprisingly some like GTA V). Just play and enjoy them.

The prices for Supremacy MMA have been a big ridiculous lately.  Small publisher within the "launch window" so I guess it makes sense.

That's the only thing on my wishlist for my Vita collection right now.

New Vita owner with a 64GB memory card on the way.. any must owns in this flash sale? Or must have games in general? I know literally nothing. I was gonna go with Hyperdimension Neptunia Rebirth 1 and Gradius Collection for the flash sale to start off.

You probably want to tell us what type of games you like.

I think the only must own in my opinion is Lumines(puzzler in the vein of tetris) but I'm sure you can find a comparably priced physical copy used at BBY. Note: Play with some good headphones on.

As for the Nep series there is some kind of following around the series but I'm not sure if it is considered niche or mainstream for vita owners( maybe niche of a niche? lol). Initially, I thought it was going to be a fanservicey shovelware jrpg series but it is supposedly pretty good based off of the general talk about the game.

I haven't even played Neptunia but if it's got half as much heart and charm as Compile Heart's Sorcery Saga did in writing alone I'd certainly play it just for the story.

Granted SS was not a particularly well-crafted game but if I want great gameplay I am staying the hell away from any JRPG experience not named Etrian Odyssey. I come into this genre with low expectations.

And no shut up don't even go b-b-b-but Persona. Persona 4 is a game about talking to people where you sometimes break up the exciting talking to people action to play a garbage mish-mash of a JRPG and Personamons.*

But Neptunia 1 and 2 were both cheaper on PC. You can't be as choosy on console sales as you can on Steam but it's something to keep in mind if your gaming profile is diversified.

*This is how I describe games I really like.**

**Seriously P4 makes talking to people incredibly tense and stressful. I don't care about this loser stuck in the TV HOW AM I GOING TO FIND THE TIME TO GET MY STATS UP ENOUGH TO CONFESS MY LOVE TO BROSUKE

B is way too low for a Japanese game. Neptunia is at least an S rank, with something like Dragon Quest being SSS.
Well someone familiar with Japanese ranking systems probably wouldn't need an opinion on the Neptunia franchise so obviously I was translating that to American grading for them. ;)

Went ahead an ordered Danganronpa 1+2 from Amazon for $60 ($50 after Prime Day coupon).  I used the $10 off coupon I got during Prime Day sale and use the gift cards I bought to get the coupon.

Neptunia is probably in that B class of JRPG where it's not a FF but it's respectable.
This is about right. It has quite a bit of fanservice, and a lot of grinding if you don't pick up any DLC (although fortunately it'd only set you back another $1-2 to solve it in this case), but there's a certain charm to playing gameception incarnate.

tag for future, if anyone is updating the list, i dug out my vita from last year and started playing again, but most of my vita games i got rid of sadly.

still looking for deals if anyone knows of any.

I just got a Vita. What case would you recommend? I'm looking for something that's not bulkly and less than $20.
http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00L6AVNE0/ref=mp_s_a_1_3?qid=1437494216&sr=8-3&pi=AC_SY200_QL40&keywords=ps+vita+starter+kit&dpPl=1&dpID=51PqIB4QuoL&ref=plSrch

I bought this for my vita slim and I love it. Not really protective against drops, but it keeps it dust and scratch free. The case doesn't hold any games but offers good protection too.
