I think I've told my story in here about my sister borrowing my snes, and selling a bunch of games on ebay for whatever minimal price. What she didn't know is that I had all the original boxes back at my parents house somewhere which would have allowed me to sell some of them for $100 a pop.

But then again I was dumb giving gamestop earthbound for $20, and suikoden 2 for $10 awhile ago
At least you can blame your misfortune on your sister... on the other hand, my collection of 20-25 original gameboy games MIB gone for $70 is all stupidass me.

All the Mega Mans, Final Fantasys, Metroid II, Gargoyle's Quest.... the list goes on.... well over a grand (hell, maybe two grand) flushed right down the good ol' metaphorical shitter known as Turok 64.

That's probably the biggest thing holding me back from cutting loose on some of my collection... the regret is real.

They have dial up in hell though. Good thing you'll be there forever!
It'll only feel like an eternity.

I'm confused. I need more than the regular SATA cable?
Shit, this doesn't look like my other desktop. Here's the cable going from my HDD to my power supply.

No, that's right. I was probably thinking of Zimm's recent mention of having a 2008 PC and got that mixed up with yours. If your PSU was from 2008 it would probably just have molex power connectors, which look like this:

Those are what you plug into the motherboard, video card, and older HDDs and ODDs. If that's all you had you'd need a molex to SATA PSU adapter. One of these things:

You should be good to go with what you have pictured.

What I really need to do is sell some these retro games I'm sitting on that are worth a decent amount of money
You definitely should. I've sold almost $600 of ps1 and ps2 games on ebay the past few weeks. I'm pricing to sell though, not willing to wait weeks or months for that big fish to bite. I'm still doing well though.

Just finished Korra. It was good. Not as good as Avatar, IMO, but good. Avatar had an over-reaching story and villain to pull things together and was kid-oriented. Korra was much more teen-oriented and a coming-of-age kinda story with a new villain and focus each season, so the vast majority of the series was about her jumping into things too quickly with a subsequent bout of depression and hopelessness when she messed up. Plus the power handling of the story changed; Aang could curb-stomp just about anybody he went up against with air-bending alone and the avatar state was for when he went up against armies or got super pissed; Korra got beat down over and over again by random nobodies and her avatar state was barely a power-up compared to her normal self.

I do wish
they had been as open about Korra's pairing with Asami as they were with her male interests and all the straight pairings on the show. I can see why they didn't, but it's still disappointing that they only heavily hinted at the relationship rather than having it out in the open like all the others.

The wife hasn't seen Avatar, so I'll be making her watch that soonish. I'm kinda surprised to see there are only DVDs for it--they never did a bluray release for some reason.

Now that I'm done with Korra I kinda want to find another cartoon to get into and I've been curious about Clone Wars for a while. How is it? I'm not a huge Star Wars fan but I'm under the impression it's supposed to be good. Does it stand on its own well enough or do you have to be really into the movies to enjoy the show?

Oh man, that sounds so fun. I wish it didn't have a monthly fee attached. :headache:
He did say you could knock out the main thing in the free month that comes with the game. I think that's fair. I could maybe see going another month if I'm into it, but more than that would be too much for me.

There's such a fine line between dropping the ball and no one giving a fuck about Disney Infinity anymore.
Oh, did people quit caring about that? The posts for it and all the Amiibo shit just kinda run together for me since I'm not into any of it.

This is still good, though, right?

Remember when Cleaner was in management training and was barely around for a few weeks? That's been me lately. I don't have the same level of enthusiasm she did since there's not much room for advancement, but they're paying for tons of stuff and it looks good on the resume so...

Also, I've completely fallen down the rabbit hole of Final Fantasy 14. It's easily the best FF game of the last decade. Course it's also the only FF game of the last decade aside from the 13 trilogy so the bar's set pretty low. But it really is great; if someone liked 12 even a little they would probably love 14.

It's been funny to see Derextreme up at crazy hours hooked on Elder Scrolls Online too. Our struggle is real:

i've completely destroyed my sleep schedule because of this game. today i went to bed at noon. i hit the max veteran rank earlier in the week, and started doing the trials(hardest dungeons). i'm probably going to be able to slow down on it now though. just do weekly/daily stuff. maybe try to beat a few games before i have to go back to work. only thing that sucks about eso, it's run like bungie runs destiny. they put out a bunch of cool stuff, and then nerf it or trash it altogether. we're getting two more veteran ranks in the september dlc, but then the dlc after that is going to remove veteran ranks. if they screw it up, i might have to get ff14 another shot. i just hate the subscription model.

i've also been hooked on fantasy life(3ds). so my gaming life is pretty much in turmoil right now.

I kind of wish they had too, only for the reason that it wouldn't have felt so forced and tacked on... it didn't seem to fit with the show and came off as them just trying to be edgy.

Overall, the first series was much better and after having watched all of Korra I can honestly say in hindsight that if I had passed I wouldn't have missed much.

Stotch/Jimbo/Topside:

How long did it take you guys to find Jimmy Jenkins on PS4?  I was pleasantly surprised tonight to get him on my first try doing the Doctor's Orders mission, wondering just how lucky I was or if his spawn rate increased on the PS4 version.

His spawn rate is a LOT higher when using the Doctor's Orders mission... got him on my second try.

One crappy slow aerial goal from the other night and two more from just now playing with Tyler, Gator and Munky.

I didn't have to find him. That trophy all but auto popped when I brought over my PS3 character that had that trophy. I think I just had to finish any outstanding challenge. I seem to recall he was pretty easy to find on PS3 using the Doctors Orders method though.

when i was 12 or 13 or so i sold my snes with maybe 15 games including earthbound in box and strategy guide for about 70-80 which i then used to buy a game shark for ps1

my dad traded my earthbound for judge dredd

i traded ff 2 & 3 snes + a bunch of other snes and gameboy games to get a used ps2. i don't really regret that though.

This does look rather terrible:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UCcDGxDe5y0

The characters and monsters don't seem to fit on the screen at all--it looks like some kind of bad greenscreen effect where they are just placed over the background rather than actually belonging there.

Looks interesting, but I don't like how all the characters look like bobbleheads.
You're not the only one who dislikes the chibi-esque characters--that's probably the only common "complaint" I've seen among those interested in Exist Archive. I don't really mind it, though.

Jesus, did we all trade Earthbound for next to nothing?  I dont remember what I got for it but I am sure I traded it in MIB to GS for less than $20.  Probably way less.

I did the same thing with the OG Castlevania SOTN, Suikoden and every game I owned since I never kept anything once I finished the story.

I tried to play one of the challenge maps on uber this morning in the old blood. I don't think I managed to kill more than one or two guys across several runs before I'm downed. I feel like I've never played a video game before.

Konami just about sounds like the best workplace ever: http://gematsu.com/2015/08/nikkei-report-bad-things-happening-konami

  • Kojima Productions is now known as “Number 8 Production Department.” Its computers have no internet access and can only send messages between internal computers.
  • Employees that leave the office during lunch beak are monitored with time cards. Those who return late have their names announced throughout the company.
  • There are cameras in the office corridors to monitor the movements of Konami’s employees.
  • Most Konami employees don’t have their own permanent company e-mail addresses. Staff who deal with people outside the company, such as public relations, do, however, everyone else’s e-mail is routinely randomized and changed every few monts.
  • Konami developers who aren’t seen as useful are reassigned duties such as security guards, cleaning staff at fitnes clubs, or roles at pachi-slot machine factories. This includes producers who worked on big titles. In 2013, Japanese newspaper Asahi News reported on a former Konami employee who allegedly went from development to working in a Konami pachi-slot factory, which led him into severe depression.
  • After announcing on Facebook that he was leaving Konami for a new job, Konami monitored his social media post and reshuffled those within the company that “Liked” it.
Yikes.

New news on the FFXII remake comment:

http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2015-08-03-looks-like-final-fantasy-12-hd-remaster-is-real

Dear friends,

In response to comments posted by fans, I want to rectify a statement made from the stage Saturday night at our Distant Worlds: music from Final Fantasy concert in Pittsburgh.

Following conversations with composer Hitoshi Sakimoto regarding new concert arrangements of music from Final Fantasy 12, regrettably, the term "remake" was used in error during one of the announcements that took place from the stage during the concert.

We sincerely regret any confusion this has caused.

Arnie Roth

Producer and Music Director

Distant Worlds: music from Final Fantasy
So, as suspected, remake really meant HD treatment not an actual remake. And he also completely failed to deny that an HD treatment is in the works.

I really should get back to FFX HD for Vita. Trying to work myself back into the games I've started but never finished and that's a big one.
