Attrition is the best mode and is always easy to get into a close to full game. Was gonna say full game, but if it's full I guess you couldn't join it. Anyway, it's not sparse at all. Most modes have a good amount of players, but a few are pretty empty and it's probably cause those modes suck anyway.

I have only played seven or so games with three that ended prematurely. I assume those were dropped connections as the games were early and still close. I do have a moderate NAT I should fix sometime, but I haven't seen issues in FM6, Gears Ultimate, Warframe, PvZGW, Evolve and several other games.

The XB1 can't emulate 360 code efficiently, it's not powerful enough to do it on the fly. Since they aren't going the streaming route like Sony, the most likely implementation of XB1 backwards compatibility involves creating x86 ports of the 360 games. It explains why you still need to download the BC game rather than install off a 360 disc.

It's probably possible to create them using the original 360 executable code, which would take a lot of the overhead involved in straight emulation out of the equation. The problem with this method is the XB1 x86 code is a derived work under copyright law, which would require sign offs on copyright holders (the original dev / publisher, and any licensed content). Emulating on the fly would create a similar derived work, but I'm pretty sure copyright law allows for this through an interoperability loophole. It views the derived work created within a computer's memory as a consequence of using the program differently from one created that's sitting on a hard drive / server that isn't actively being used. I'm pretty sure the legal stance on emulators for older game consoles is the emulators themselves are legal (though patents could be used to block some implementations), the legal issues surround the game ROMs.

Thanks for all of that. I knew about the BC implementation, but didn't know that the method used was covered by copyright law. Interesting. And yes, emulators have been legal for older consoles. The "grey area" has always been ROMs.

Nothing like playing Halo MCC, getting used to the thumbstick controller sensitivities, and then playing Halo 5 and them being completely poop.

Honestly, with the little bit I played last night, I kept feeling like all I wanted to do was play Black Ops 3 Beta again...which is rare because I love Halo and have been "meh" toward COD since BLOPS1 (although I liked AW, but quit shortly after starting)

This is how I've been feeling too.. I played Halo 1-4 + ODST and REACH last week to gear up for it.

This game feels like another franchise wearing a Halo Skin. The best way I've been able to explain it is that they tried to mix CoD, BF, & Halo together in varying amounts and it just doesn't feel right. Everything feels off.

I've played through the campaign twice, and spent hours in MP before just giving up and trading it in for basically what I paid. (Now it's $43.20 at BestBuy so those with GCU will be out $5, think of it as a rental)

I enjoyed it, but it just didn't feel like the other game in the series or with the quality.
Also, while I like the idea of supplementary material it should not have major, story effecting plot points of the main series. The main villain of 4 died in a comic between 4 and 5, and it's not referenced in the game. Instead we're given an entirely new plot based on things started in 4.

I'll pick it back up if it goes on sale, Black Friday, or drops beneath $30.

 
i wish halo never went the trading card route. it's kept me from enjoying advanced warfare and titanfall. is it really so much better than the simplicity of the early halo days?

I've never even played a Fallout game... I saw the preview in Best Buy the other day on their demo TV and may have popped a chubby. I think I'm gonna have to try FO4...

Titanfall were just buffs.. the way Halo 5 uses them is just.. well truly annoying.

 
Thomas was alone was a pretty fun game, not sure if I could recommend it for 12 but insta grab if its on sale again, also its 1k point in less than 3 hours

I've solely played KOTH in MP, but am glad a ring mode game is staying competitive for Seriously progress. Will need to get a win in Assassination before it disappears for the "win in every mode" achievement. Don't want to have to wait for it to cycle in as a special event to notch that check box.

Also glad to see Rooftops and Bullet Marsh pulled from the map cycle. Rooftops is too much of a PITA to get around and has some wonky spawn points. I just get lost on Bullet Marsh without the additional paths that were added in Gears 3.

$39.99 for about 45 minutes till it sold out (unless they restocked it) and good luck finding stores that match coupon codes. Comparable nowhere else, not most places. To be fair, there were some pretty solid money / gift card back pre-order deals.

...and to be fair, this is a Digital XBL Sales thread, so my joke is relevant to the thread.

I don't think its unreasonable to expect a $10-15 discount for BF, Xmas, or Countdown. Especially since the game has microtransactions.

The REQ Bundle for Halo 5 - as someone mentioned - is over a 7 week period (2 packs per week).  Having bought the LE, I was...underwhelmed with the contents of these packs.  I was mostly hoping for weapon skins, visor colors, and armors, and I think, of like three promotional packs, two bronze packs, a silver pack, a gold pack, four level up packs, two REQ packs, I have two weapon skins, one armor, and one visor.  Mmhmm.

With regard to Titanfall, if anyone needs a co-op/teammate, I'll jump back in.  I'm not going to say I'm awesome-sauce at Titanfall, but I am a legit Gen 10 (so, I'm fairly ok).  It will be hard to leave the all-consuming love of Destiny now that I've re-entered her warm embrace (sort of like being suffocated by the softest blanket ever), but I'll try.

Yes, it is definitely built into the game on disc and does not actually install onto the HD like Borderlands GOTY and the like. No gamestop renting the Gold Edition here.

I noticed when I installed it Monday night that the progress bar would sit there and make the install look frozen, but it would eventually progress.

Thanks, but that's quite a ways off. If there's no issues with the 360 version, I'll just get it now. I would wait, but I have a survival horror itch that needs scratching. I do need to play RE0 sometime, as it the only mainline RE title I've missed, but I'm way more excited they're eventually bringing RE2.
