I was able to buy 2 $10 psn cards with the mystery $5 cert and another $15 one I already had. Worked fine. But the cashier had to scan the mystery cert page like 3 times at different times in the transaction. Your cashier probably fucked it up.
Thought so. The woman in front of me I believe had a $5 thing like me and bought a Bluetooth ear piece with it but the cashier scanned everything multiple times. Maybe again at lunch and just goto customer service. Or maybe wait till Saturday. The BB by house is much better than the one near my job.

Free AM cruncwrap day!!!

Mine was really good.

Got some of those cinnabon delights things they have as I always wanted to try them.

They are indeed delightful.

#happythursday

Gamestop question. When you trade a system in towards another new system and then return said system you can get the credit back right? Gamestop is giving out $100 for the 3DS, 3DSXL, or Vita towards a New 3DS XL. I just want to dump my old 3DS XL for $100 and I already have a new 3DS XL.
Vig?

Yes you get it back. I was thinking of doing the same with mine.

Unfortunately driving to the nearest Taco Bell would mean I get into work late (waking up earlier is not an option for me - I'm no Mild), so I had to forgo. Too bad they didn't do this on a weekend.

Finished the main campaign of Foul Play last night.  Very enjoyable, very fun game.  Only performance problems on the Vita came on the two Act 5 stages, where noticeable slowdown was happening.  And the aforementioned blurry textures everywhere.

Gonna go back and try to get all the challenges and stars for the plat now since it's fun to play levels again.  Except for ones with flying enemies.   fuck those guys.

If I take a different route to my park & ride, I drive right by one. I'm sure the line was super mega ultra long deluxe anyway.

Did Microsoft get some sort of Fallout 4 will only be shown for Xbone deal or something? Every tweet from the official @fallout twitter account shows Xbox One, but no mention of PS4. For example:

The flying enemies are tough. The gargoyles especially. In order to do combos on them you need to make sure you jump before trying to hit them. Play that level a couple times like that and you will get used to it and beat it no problem. I couldnt come close in that level until I started jumping first. This is where the charm that keeps your combo going longer comes in handy.

Also the vampire levels are easy as long as you figure out their timing and keep your back turned to them until they strike. They like to run away if your facing them making it hard to keep the combo going. You dont have to jump for them. Let them jump first then you turn around and spam them.

Yeah free AM Crunchwrap! No one in line at the TB by my work either, real quick. These things are pretty tasty, I'd grab one again.

If you think that PS now might be for you I heartily recommend doing the 7 day trial. I'm using it on ps3 and the interface is horrible (hint: you use the store) but damn it plays good. I've been screwing around with it on an alt this morning and it really does work well. It's also a fun way to quickly try some games you've never played. I really hope they figure out a way to make it cheaper.

Edit - the vita/ps4 interfaces are much better. It is close to unusable on vita due to crap WiFi though. Playing on ps3 WiFi is fine for me.
What have you been playing? I tried Infamous 1 a couple months back. It was playable but definitely a downgrade from native PS3.

Yeah I was trying to get the 3 perfect scenes on the first gargoyle level this morning. I can barely manage one. I'll probably just have to come back when I unlock the longer combo charm and try then.

Holy shit, my internet is flying now. I just went from 30:2 to 90:10 overnight. Time Warner's trying to bribe us with free increases to better speeds so we don't all bail to Google Fiber in two years.
Are you sure they would be coming to your part of Charlotte? Outside of the initial deployments, they seem to be selecting areas of cities where the people can not really afford even their low prices. I think they purposefully do not want large numbers of customers taking the service. They just want to be an option so that they force the incumbents to try and compete and bring down the prices and up the speeds for everyone in the area.

In 2 years time, Time Warner will have a fiber solution as well that will blow the doors off the older tech that Google is deploying. I readily admit that the customer service and pricing may still be awful, but at least the threat is causing movement at the cable operators.

I didn't bother. Figured if I liked it they would discontinue it anyway. Actually I had time to pick up breakfast yesterday morning but not today. I consider pulling in anyway but then said screw it.

That's the biggest thing I want out of this, more competition. I would be fine keeping a provider so long as they priced it right. Currently here, nothing even matches what Google offers. Hell I would cut the cable completely if internet alone around here wasn't so damn expensive. I mean Comcast wanted $90 if all I wanted was internet. At least google just requires $300 up front for free 5 Mbps internet. I would definitely look at that. 70 a month is perfect, and $130 for cable and internet is less than I am paying with more features and faster speed

For the average schmoes at home Google Fiber is 10x faster then they will likely ever need. I would switch to them over dealing with most of the crappy cable companies for the reason you said. Crappy customer support. As you said it is pushing the incumbents to actually offer better service where Google is a option.

There was a news story the other day that Google was looking at Tampa for one of the next areas.  I hope it comes to fruition as I have checked and I cant justify getting rid of cable because I still need internet and decent internet only isnt cheap enough to warrant getting rid of cable (cause sports!).

It is now. Will it be for long? Not so sure. I am sure most people think we are one of the most technologically advanced countries. Those people would all be wrong. South Korea is so much ahead of us it isn't funny. However, they also have large numbers of people who are addicted to the internet. You could argue we do too with all the people that can't get off of Facebook, but it is not on the same level.

With every baby on an iPad before they can walk, I will not be surprised if we start catching up over the course of this generation.

There is a nice offer right now through Chromecast. 2 Months free sling tv. Just go to the site on a computer connected to same network as your chromecast and and you can sign up. Its the basic 20/month package and you get it free for 2 months, requires CC info however and will auto bill if you forget to cancel (just set a reminder on your calendar, wont forget that way)

I used it some last night, worked really well I thought on my internet. Came in really clear. The guide is shit and there can good delay when changeing channels, but overall it works.

Tried it on my galaxy tablet and through my older roku, didnt get to test out on chromecast as wife was watching the CMA awards on that tv.

I would imagine most countries have no where near the regulation and lobbyists we have here as well. Lobbying by the big guys keep competition stagnant.

I don't disagree with any of your points here. With considerably faster bandwidth more interesting uses for it will be developed over time. Still I don't think most people will need more then 25/25 (which is what I have) for several years to come. Even streaming 4K is doable with that. I don't know how long before the average schomes need 1Gbps or beyond but think it is great that more and more people on the low end (or no end) of broadband are getting the option for really high quality Internet. I have been in telecom for like 19 years. And before that running BBSes out of my own pocket. Back to the days of dial up. In those 25 or so years the innovations in connectivity and tech in general is amazing.

Bringing it back some what on topic. One of the BBSes I ran someone uploaded the 6 1.44MB floppies to me. I think it took him two different nights. I chatted him and asked him WTF is this and why shouldn't I just delete it? Most people weren't going to spend like 12 hours downloading this. He said it was a great game and I should check it out before deleting it. I did. Stayed up till like 5am playing it. I hadn't played video games since I was a teenager. Got a non technical friend setup with the game and did a dialup connection. It mostly worked and was cool as hell running around in the same game while we lived 25 miles apart. Moved on to ISDN and Quake where the online was a complete blast.

Now everyone just takes MP player on either consoles or PC for granted in most games. How many of buy 10-20GB games on PSN and download it and play it the same day (or the next).

Perhaps in gaming VR or AR will find a great use for 1GB or better connections down the road.

I'd do that but I don't have a Chromecast. Just a Fire TV Stick. But I already did a trial and I assume it's new customers only?

Most people do not realize that in many states the lobbyist have gotten laws passed that would keep local municipalities from being able to offer internet service to their residents. How does that make any sense at all? How is that supposed to be in the best interests of the public?

If a city wants to promote themselves by having a great affordable internet service, they would be breaking the law if they tried. It boggles the mind.

Its why we cant have nice things.

If you have a chromecast and want to stream hulu, do you have to have a hulu plus subscription? Considering picking one up since our main streaming PC decided it no longer wants to connect to the internet (wired or wireless). But if you can't stream hulu without paying for it, I might have too look into other options.

There's a sale on Flame Over Vita & PS4 in the UK. 50% off with PS+, but nothing of that sort in the US. Yet? I inquired. Hopefully we are going to get the same sale. I'll pick up the PS4 version if it happens.

Yep. This article does a good job talking about the fight that some cities take on, and the benefits they get if they win.

Not sure if you have ever checked out this site http://muninetworks.org/content/first-muni-fiber-net-maine-community-broadband-bits-episode-115

They have a podcast (20mins once a week) that talk about all the issues you have mentioned.

Anyone who just thinks well yeah governments shouldn't be competing with big business should check it out.

Maybe both that and Axiom Verge will be on sale next week?

Yup when Google was first starting their fiber program, Denver was considered first... that is until Comcast put nearly 2 million into campaigns to pass these laws you are talking about. No one knew any better because they didn't understand it and just went with it. Denver may be one of the last cities to get Fiber as a result of it.
