Official CAG Destiny Thread - Rise of Iron

And damn, I just saw that Destiny Taken King Legendary Edition (so the whole package) is a deal of the day on Amazon for $29.99.  I'm almost tempted to get it for PS4 for that price - but I think I'll hold off ;).

260 and climbing. (i know not very exciting...yet)

On the other hand I finally got S Class rank w/SRL and the tool kit they gave me had the EV-36 Solscout in it. At first I was, ah man...I actually wanted the pink one for some strange reason because I just got the pink shader in the last race...but this thing looks changed my mine after the first boost. Flames really flair up and shoot out of the vents when you boost and strafe. First race back in w/this puppy, boom. 1st place and a 308 helmet.

Somewhere in the mix I managed to pick up a legendary chest piece w/ideal perks for my Gunslinger/Monte Carlo/knife build.  :twoguns:

Edit: Legendary Chest piece was Bog Wild 1.0, didn't know that what the Vanguard sells for Legendary Marks can drop. Woo hoo! Now to see if I want the Dead Orbit gloves or match up and get the Bog Wild ones.

err...have you read that PSN in UK has a in game microtransaction that boosts 1 guardian to lvl 25 for $$$?

Why...if you just bought TTK you get the Spark of Life, if you're a veteran and finally decided you want a race and gender change for one of your alts, you can grind bounties and missions and get lvl 25 super quick. (I mean the option is nice for anyone who wants to buy a Spark of Life but this is going to cause quite a stir)

Screw the Daily Herioc.
I've done it before, and its taken a long time. I'd rather spend that time racing, and get a bunch of Legendary helmets that I can break down for 3 Marks a piece. Probably make more that way.

...and yes, that Spark of Light for $30 is ridiculous.
It doesn't take long to level up to 25, plus you get more familiar with your character and all its different abilities if actually PLAY with it.

I got my 3rd Golgoroth challenge done yesterday evening but then Oryx was being a pain.  We kept detonating the orbs but it wasn't counting.  One time we only got 1 to count even though all 4 of us were clearly in there.  Then on time I died well inside the aura.  No one was red-barred, so it was strange to see behavior like that.  Hopefully that is not a sign of things to come with the Oryx challenge.

Speaking of which, I guess the allure of the challenges has worn off as I didn't see a single group trying to do it after reset last night on my friend's list unlike with the other 2.  I still don't even know what the details are - I guess I'll look on reddit or something.

100xp - you beat me already on helmet drops from the racing.  My best was a 307.  I also just realized yesterday that the non-light/stat racing equipment is shareable between characters!  That's nice - so I don't have to keep gauntlets/chest/boots on each character and take up valuable inventory and Vault slots.  The goal on the non-helm pieces is to get something other than the "Circuit" ones since those don't take the shader color.  I finally got some boots that aren't the tan ones last night.  I think I just need gauntlets now.

Also, does anyone know if you get also one of the new legendary sparrows if you complete Class S on more than one character?  If so that is all the incentive I need to finish that up on my Titan and Hunter.  I still have the class A to finish on them.

And like I expected, I got hosed on the 10-win bounty.  I only had 9 done before reset since I wasn't able to start until Saturday.  When I got my first one done this morning, I turned in the 10-win bounty and then that bounty is no longer available for me to get for this week.  So that is like 10 races worth of exp I will miss out on for the event on top of the bounties from the days I missed at the beginning.

Also, got trolled hard by Trials yet again.  Me and a few friends messed around with it the other day and that got me within 5 points of the silver tier and half the matches to the gold tier.  So I got on LFG last night to finish those off.  Silver gave me nothing yet again.  And gold gave me, yep... another freaking artifact!  I think I've gotten 8 gold tier packages and half of them have been artifacts.  Screw Trials.

Oryx challenge is to take him from 100% health to 1% health at one time by detonating 16 bombs at once.  How anyone figured that out is beyond me as I didn't even know you could keep the bombs from one phase to the next.  Doesn't the vessel detonate them?

You still kill the vessel each time like always. It actually looks pretty simple to do. The hard part is you have to drop the Ogres as soon as they come out of the ground all 16 times so the orbs are all stacked together 4 to a spot. If you are doing hard mode you have to also drop the knights pretty fast. Once the brand is stolen you stagger him like always and than instead of running to your orbs you stay in the aura and kill the ads. Than since you did no damage to him you dont run from the bombs at all you go straight to the shade to kill him. So you do that three times and on the fourth stagger you detonate your four stacked up bombs he goes from 100% to 1% and than go to the end to DPS him till he floats away.

A few of the youtubers I watched said this is probably now going to be their new strategy for doing hard mode Oryx since it seems less things can go wrong.

We haven't been killing the vessel so I guess we'll have to now.  He usually just strolls into our aura ;).

But still, there's a chance he'll get to the stacked bombs before he is killed.  I guess the idea, though, is to get the bombs to stack up right where the ogres emerge from the water.  So that shouldn't be close to the vessel I guess.

It does sound like once you get the hang of it, this could be the go to strategy anyway even without challenge mode.  We were having a hell of a time with detonations last night for some reason.

Just have someone on Nightstalker Tether the bastard. That is what I did when I was on my hunter earlier.

Thanks Renegade Moose & Io for the daily heroic yesterday. The infinite vector is sweet...sadly no cloak drop even wth the 3 of coins popped but I'm sure I'll be sweeping up dust palace again when I'm pumping out more lumens.

Did some dreadnaught patrolling with Io as well, I'll say the slight light increase certainly help be the catalyst for more light drops later that day. 281 and rising. At this rate I should hit 300 before weeks end. Woo hoo!

Also finding swarm grenades in crucible are a great way to surprise unsuspecting victims and getting lots of post mordom points.

...and found out today I need to dismantle an exotic for the material to infuse an exotic.

3 of coins don't apply to the Flayers in the Nightfall if that is what you are talking about. Plus it only increases exotic engram chances not strike specific loot.

Cleared 2 HM Challenges, what a joke. 2 320 Primaries that were infused and now I have 2 320 Last Words. :D 2 for 2 on Hard Mode Helmets this week as well as 2 for 2 on the exotic chest after Golgo. Obsidian Mind and SUROS.

Nightfall drops were poop but I finally got the Arc Flayer Cloak. Will be grinding nightfall until I have all 3 cloaks. So if anyone needs help with Nightfall, hit me up.

Also anyone still keeping up with Gunsmith? The PDX-45 pulse he has this week is an almost god roll. Fitted Stock, Headseeker, Small Bore. Plus it has the SPO-28 scope. So good. I already infused mine to 314.

I got a decent package from the level up package as well.

And in even more good news just got my Tarantella from an engram this afternoon and FINALLY found my COD:AW pre-order receipt with my Blacksmith Shader code and it still worked!!! :D

That was the Nightfall (which is considerably harder than the Daily Heroic, especially at your light level ;)). As Vendetta said, the 3 of coins doesn't apply to the strike-specific stuff, however, you do seem to have a better chance of getting those to drop when it is the Nightlfall vs. a regular or Heroic strike. I got a 296 Hung Jury with bad perks from my Nightfall... Moose got a 304 ghost shell, though, and I think he said his max before was 280-somehting so that was a good drop for him.

I wouldn't mind clearing two more Nightfalls for more chances at the other cloaks (I have the Void one).

I also did two Oryx challenges last night and I'd say it is easier than the Golgogorth one - except for the Bungie bullshit. We must have done at least 8 perfect runs across our two attempts only to have him come back up with anything from 1/6th to 1/4 of his health intact. We killed each ogre in a stack, we saw all 4 detonations on each name. It is just typical Bungie lag bullshit. We also had some runs ruined by full-blown lag where ogres were teleporting around and such. We switched hosts at that point and it cleared up a bit but we still had the problems at the end.

If the damn thing actually worked we'd have been done with each run in just a few tries. We did it the first time with 2 Titans up top which just makes it super easy. The second time we only had one and that was just slightly more challenging. I was the second one up there (as a Hunter) so we didn't have the Weapons of Light to go along with the Blessing. You just have to be on top of the ogre spawns in that case but it wasn't too much of a problem.

I just have my Warlock to run through tonight and hopefully it goes more smoothly.

We also had one guy (a random from LFG) who would disconnect on the hour at 52 minutes past. It was bizarre - but obviously his router or ISP did some sort of reset on him every hour. The last time he disconnected as we were in orbit just after the second completion. Whew!

I got 320 auto rifle and hand cannon and I have no idea what to do with them. I didn't have any weapons over 310 before besides 313 auto rifle, 318 scout, and 319 pulse (all Raid weapons). I don't want to waste them on infusing something to 318 or just from 318/319 to 320 (and the 313 was just waiting to be infused into something else which I finally did t get my Red Death to 313). I'm missing stuff in that 314-315 range that would maximize the infusion. I think I'll just wait until I get more. Part of the problem is the paralysis brought about by Bungie rebalancing the weapons all the damn time. I have so many legendary weapons I could go with but don't really know which to infuse. I have a 310 Grasp of Malok which of all the pulse rifles (high rate of fire) was nerfed the least. I still like that. But then I also have a 310 Trials scout with hidden hand and full auto. I like that too. Then I have several other pulse rifles (Hawksaw, Lyudmilla, Suros, etc) plus things like Zhalo Supercell (only primary with elemental damage and great in this week's Nightfall), and my new hand cannons (First Curse, etc). I need like 20 more 310+ infusion material guns so I can do them all!

A couple of the people I was with infused their Touch of Malice to 320 but since I only ever use that in the Raid, and I am doing just fine with mine at 310 through all the hard mode challenges, there really isn't any point to that until I get all my PvP and other PvE stuff done first. I'd rather level up my Zhalo Supercell before that for PvE for example.

Now I just need to grind out rank 3 in SRL and start farming 310+ helms and class items as I have 10+ each of those that need to be levelled up past 310!

A few of my buddies did that too. It makes zero sense to do that IMO. Though most people would think I'm crazy for leveling up 2 Last Words to 320. Debating using the next 320 on my MIDA....

Someone in the PS4 thread is saying that a buddy of his got a racing pack from the Nightfall with one of the sparrows in it!  I'm definitely running my other 2 Nightfalls now this week!

And... another guy just reported getting a Fall 2015 Emote Mystery Bag from the Nightfall.   Damn.

In other news I got a vangard ghost shell from my run

Had no luck running the Oryx challenge last night. I did find a excellent group via lfg and we ran through the Warpriest, Golgo, and the Daughters all on our first tries. When we got Oryx we kept getting hit with lag that would skip the Ogres from place to place and the one time we made it to round four I was the one who screwed up and I didnt hear the end of it. After a few more missed attempts I called it a night. In the 10+ attempts we tried I think I only died twice and my big screw up was not being close to my platform on the fourth relic run. I was stuck one the other side of the map looking for sniper ammo and I was in charge of the second platform before I could make it back after the shade the third guy jumped up before I could get back to number two. I asked them to give me a second before they started but to no avail.

310 Racing Scarf (Hunter's Cloak)!

It looks pretty sweet w/the blue hologram adding to your contrail like straight outta AKIRA when racing.

Has anyone noticed in the Destiny app, your Horn has an EXP bar?

The reason I 320-ed my Touch and raid weapons is because that small amount of additional damage might just be the deciding factor between completing the raid/checkpoint and spending another hour with a random LFG group. When randoms inspect you, it looks better for you with 320 raid weapons. And the raid is the only activity that I need to LFG since our regular raid group plays less frequently now.

There are no other PvE activities that really require 320 weapons. And the damage curve is generous enough in trials/iron banner that it wouldn't make that huge of a difference.

I love this new Oryx challenge and I think this will be our main strategy for Oryx from now on. No need to deal with people dying while returning from blights. No need for mortar phase.

It's funny, I agree that you shouldn't put much into Touch beyond 310 and yet I did just that... only because of Oryx challenge mode. If it wasn't for that, I'd still have my Touch at 310. I need to run it on my alts and since they're a bit weaker, I wanted as much light as I could muster. Plus I'll be running with friends that have alts in a similar situation, so I'm just pretty much stacking things in my favor.

Feel the same way about Black Spindle since I only seem to use it for WP and GoGo. I leveled that up only because I had nothing else that I wanted to increase.

True, but when I start a Raid, I don't have ToM equipped anyway. I have my 318 Smite of Merain, a 320 secondary, and a 320 machine gun (and a 320 ghost). So I think that looks pretty good to LFG people ;). I'm not sure if higher ToM does any more damage or if it is simply related to your overall light level. On Oryx's chest I was doing 1577 with my 310 ToM and two other guys were doing 16xx or so with their 320's. But I think they were also 318-319 while I was 317. So I'm not sure which of those is the deciding factor but I thought it was overall light level and not the specific weapon level. Though if my ToM was 320, I'd have been 318 instead of 317.

Black Spindle I did push to 320 because it seems like at Warpriest/Golgoroth you want to maximize damage more so than even on Oryx. Plus I had lots of extra 320 stuff in the secondary slot that I have yet to get in my primary. Hell, I now have a 320 Conspiracy Theory (for PvP), a 320 1000-Yard Stare (both for PvP and for Sisters/Oryx when I'm using ToM as my exotic), a 320 Black Spindle, and a 320 Harrowed Defiance of Yasmin (the one challenge mode drop that I kept). And I have several others around 317 (Telesto, a void 100-Yard Stare, an arc Tao sniper, and some other shotguns). The secondary slot is the easiest, IMO, to max stuff out in though.

For heavies I kept a 320 raid machine gun and that is my staple throughout the Raid. It takes out the Wizards, it is good backup at WarPriest/Golgoroth when I use all my sniper rounds, it is good for add clearing at Sisters, and it wrecks the Shade. But I need more 320 stuff there to get my swords, Truth, and Thunderlord maxed out.

...........

So, changing subjects, I had some awesome RNG last night. It was almost enough to make up for Trials trolling me with 4 out of 8 gold packages giving me artifacts. I did my second Nightfall and got crap. But then on my third I got both the Solar Flayer cloak and a Racing package! I got the Solscout sparrow from that package - not my favorite, but I'm not complaining about a bonus sparrow from NF!

Then after doing some racing (where I got 313, 318, and 319 helms within about 10 races after hitting rank 3), I joined Vendetta for one round of NF Flayer cloak farming and pulled the Arc one from that. So I got 2 of the Flayer cloaks in 3 attempts last night and now have all of them.

About those helms: I had two other helms over 310 prior to that so I will definitely be hitting the Sparrow racing hard this weekend to farm more. I had a 313 Light Beyond Nemesis from my very first Trials Silver tier package (everything since then has been blue engrams). And I got a 314 hard mode Raid helm, finally, just last week. That was it in many hours of activities that could have dropped them. Then I get 3 in about an hour or so of racing.

After 1.5 hours of racing.

316 racing scarf

311 helm (w/better stats for racing)

I'm starting to get better but I'm noticing I can maintain the lead all the way up until the 3rd lap and I get snagged somewhere and then drop to 2nd, 3rd or 5th. Kinda of a buzzkill. Wish there was some rep multiplier for every second you maintain 1st place, kinda like the ball possession stat in sports.

I did notice that some of the Bright racing chest has a "brake light" on the back. I think most ppl don't notice it because it's usually covered by a cloak or a lot of racers I've seen like to race in Sunday's best. It's kinda cool...I'm wondering if there's a hidden rep bonus if you wear an entire set of racing gear and/or a matched set. Perhaps you go a little faster, kinda like when you're wielding a primary wpn you move normal speed and when you have a machine gun out you seem to slow down due to the weight. Just a theory because the description on the Bright Armor Chest says "Choose the lightest armor when speed is your weapon."

Maybe this is why I never seem to reach maximum speed on my sparrow while racing despite hitting gates consistently.

So, I just bought Taken King edition after putting like 10 hours into the base game and selling it a while back. I'm worried that I'm going to have to spend 50+ hours grinding to get my character even close to a level playing field with everyone else. Is there any truth in that assumption? What do you guys recommend, just going through the story first then seeing where I'm at? I might want to play through a bit this weekend and get back into crucible, even though I sucked at it in the past, but I'll probably just stick to MGS for a bit longer before I commit to destiny. But any help and tips for a newcomer to taken king would be great. I'd love to be able to play with you guys at some point.

Edit: also is there any benefit to redeeming taken king right away or should I finish the base game first? Not sure if it does or doesn't add stuff for a player in my position, and I'd like the option to sell it if I want to in the future if the answer is no

I'm on the last leg of my SRL quest.  Hopefully it isn't too tough.  I can almost always manage to get in the top three, but have only finished first a couple times.  Is there something I'm missing to the racing too?  It seems like other players have no problem shoving me around and throwing me off course, but when I try to do the same I just slide under them.

My cousin also picked up The Taken King when it was on sale and I got to start my quest for refer-a-friend.  Didn't even think about but racing counted as our crucible win!  I wish the shader you got was a little better (or just more different than the veteran shader).  He only played vanilla Destiny up to level 16 so he had to be refreshed or told about a lot of the changes.  Made me realize how complicated things still are with all the currencies, light level, colored gear, factions, bounties from everybody, etc.

You're going to be someone's BFF shortly w/the Refer-a-friend promo. So definitely find a mentor who's willing to take you around for a bit before activating since you need to link you accounts on bungie net. In which you have 7 days to do something together and unlock, then the expiration date on the promo is lifted and you both can play and progress at your leisure.

I've had this game for only a couple weeks and I went from 1 > 25 (spark of life) > 40 w/very casual playing in about 5 days. Now I'm up to 288 light. You actually came in a good time since Racing is fun and a very easy way to get decent level drops to work with. Even though I played ALOT of PVP in halo was I a bit skeptical about crucible due to the variety of classes, wpns, and unfamiliar maps. Turns out, it's just like any other competitive pvp. If at first you stick w/the daily crucible playlist, it tends to be a bit more forgiving since a lot of players who don't frequent crucible seem to be playing. I run into players that b line straight at you eating every bullet you fire and falling flat on their face, as well as that guy who snipes you from across the map.

I'm just doing the storyline missions from original game and following the DLC, though I seemed to have skipped Dark Below and jumped into House of Wolves because I accepted a quest from the wrong person...not that it's wrong just wasn't part of my original plan.

As far as advantage of activating all the DLC, you'll have access to everything otherwise you'll won't be able to race and your equipment in theory w/out the DLC's will be very outdated and/or you'll be still using the old leveling system and capped at whatever it was back then. 20...32..34?

Yeah, I really have no idea what you'll have access to without activating Taken King but as xp100 said you should get in on the sparrow racing ASAP since it ends on the 29th.

And definitely do the Refer-A-Friend thing with someone here. Looks like Moose found someone. Who else needs a link friend? I haven't seen Glock very active recently but I'm sure he'd do it.

Yep, sparrow racing counts as a Crucible win as long as you simply finish - you can be in last place. I noticed yesterday that the weekly crucible bounties from Shaxx unlocked on all my characters (after I ground the crucible quest line on my Warlock for so many hours just a few weeks ago). One of the weeklies is to win 7 matches. Just do 7 races and it's done. You'll like this Moose - I got a 305 ghost shell from one of my weekly crucible bounty drops ;). I got a Heart of Praxic Fire for another and still have to complete the third. I was hoping for another Racing kit but I'm not sure if they drop from that.

As for Sparrow Racing, I'm pretty much in the same boat as you. On my warlock I actually managed to get 2 wins on my Class S and then just couldn't get the third. Vendetta and his friends were boosting and got me the 3rd win that way. I got the pink sparrow from that package so that was nice.

Apparently if you hit Rank S on subsequent characters it is a "mystery package" which contains either a Sparrow package or a Horn package - basically one of the two things you can buy from Eververse with real money. The Horn package has a chance at a special sparrow - I have a friend who got one from it. So I'm on my Class S on my Titan but I'm finding it much harder to win. I want to try it during the day on the weekend to see if it is easier.

It seems that if I run a really good race (for me that is in the 4:20-4:30 range) there is always a guy who finishes in 4:10. When there isn't a guy who's that great then I finish around 4:40-4:50 and someone beats me with a 4:30. I can never put a good run together with an average group of competitors. I don't want to grind too much on my second and third characters because I want to farm helmets/class items and can only do that on my Warlock who is at rank 3 and does not need to win matches to get stuff.

As for shoving people around, I really don't know. I think most of the time people are just trying to hit the gates and not actively bully people. I raced with some friends last night and they kept saying I was pushing them around but really all I'm doing is trying to drive straight, hit gates, and not crash. I didn't even notice them being there most of the time.

Anyone up for getting a CAG group to boost SRL?  I need 2 wins on my Titan and 3 on my Hunter to get Class S with them.  Then I can use my Warlock to help others boost (since I just need to participate with her to get 310+ stuff - still looking for 320 helm and class item).

How about tonight around 6-ish Pacific?  I'll try to be on then so if anyone else is we'll see what we can do.

Edit: Oops, forgot I need to run out and take advantage of the Fred Meyer coupon triple-stack today.  So make it more like 8pm Pacific.

Edit #2: Double Oops... I forgot I was going to watch one of the older Star Wars movies with 2 of my kids who haven't seen them yet.  So how about tomorrow (Sunday)?  I'm free pretty much all day - say 3pm Pacific?

I thought this thread was dead! Turns out Tapatalk is just broken again and not giving me notifications.

I hit rank 3 and finished the SRL quest the first week on my warlock and got some great drops after that, so keep at it. Getting those first place wins without a fireteam to "help" was rough though and took a lot of luck. As for tips, there's really no trick to it. i found, the more I tried to find shortcuts or interfere with other racers, the worse I did. This Paul Tassi article has some great advice that is totally spot-on: http://www.forbes.com/sites/insertcoin/2015/12/12/how-to-be-less-awful-at-destinys-sparrow-racing/

His second point is critical: Just ignore other racers.

I'm back from my trip and will be online a lot more over the next couple weeks. If anyone wants to do some racing and you see me in SRL, I'd be happy to join up with a group.

I can't find the racing playlist. It's supposed to be in crucible right? I talked to whoever for the quest but now i cant find anything else
It is in the Director screen on the very bottom left where the Weekly Crucible normally is.

Also I would be down for the Refer-a-Friend too if it was needed. I just really want that dance haha and lord knows I have helped a poop ton of people through all sorts of this game already : P

Finally got the Oryx challenge done now on my Hunter, she is 318. Now I am probably going to do a full hard run tonight on my warlock. Still probably won't touch my Titan but I would like to get SOMETHING for my poor warlock hah.. and I really just want yet another stab at a better ghost : P

319 Racer's Scarf ! (woo hoo)

314 Helmet

I threw some strange coins at Xur and got the burnt marshmallow hunter's helmet...which iirc is bought at base 280 defense, I infused it w/a purple racing helm with a 310 or 311 rating. The Achlyophage Symbiote went to 300, then I realized the formula for upgrading items isn't a direct swap of light so much when you're upgrading an exotic but some average based on rarity and some other number.

That said, would it be advisable to infuse the helmet w/my 311 helmet then 314? or just straight 314? (assuming I have exotic shards to spare)

Edit: I found the Destiny Infusion calculator

In other troll news: popped a 3 of coins w/Io on last night's Daily heroic story and he got an exotic, I got a blue which decrypted into a lvl 20 sidearm and this was my first time running that mission.

Roughly speaking, legendaries get 80% of the infusion value while exotics get 70%. But if you are within 5 or 6 the legendary will get the full value and within 4 or 5 the exotic will - but just use the calculator you found to be sure. We need to get you through the Taken King story missions.

I have lots and lots of helmets to infuse, but they are all in the 313-316 range for the most part. I have yet to pull a 320 one, though I did get a 320 class item. I'm getting a little tired of grinding sparrow racing, but I'd like to get enough to get each character 320 in both helm and class item slot. My Titan actually has a 320 raid class item already, so I just need one more 320 class item (to make my Void Flayer Mantle 320 ), and then 3 helmets. I know that is asking a lot since I have yet to get 1 320 helmet in many, many, hours of trying but RNG can always change. I may train my 8 year-old on how to race and let him grind some of them out ;). I think as long as he gets far enough along I can still get the rewards if not the SRL rep.

My problem now, with all these helms, is that I am sorely lacking in armor materials. I even went to the Court of Oryx last night to try to get some, but I only ended up with 4 or 5 from that, which is half of a single infusion. Meh - but at least I cleared out some of the extra runes that were taking up space. They really need to make armor materials for sale at a vendor. Hell, let me trade some of the 500-800 motes of light I have (on each character).

I'll make a point to try and finish TTK storyline by this weekend, minus any strikes and raids cause...I don't think I can do that solo w/my gear...yet.

You will need to do regular and heroic strikes as part of a quest. But those have matchmaking so you'll never be solo. Raids, on the other hand are a different story. Maybe we can get a CAG crew together to run you through those. You should be able to do the new one once you are around light level 300 - which you should easily be by the time you finish the Taken King story/quests.

I ran my Warlock through the full hard raid plus challenge relatively easy last night with a full group of LFG. We beat everything first try but the Oryx part stumped us for probably like an hour or so but we got it in the end. Literally got nothing usable from the entire thing except for a 320 primary for infusion into something later. My Warlock has pretty lackluster gear and so I was really bummed to not get squat from Golgoroth or any usable armor drop from Oryx. Oh well. The group was effective but so horribly annoying. It was a group of three friends and then three of us random lfgs and it was just horrible. They were these terribly immature high school kids that kept using quite offensive language the entire time. Everything was either 'gay' or 'n-word' all over and they even talked about their usage of the words and it clearly showcased that they were just young, extremely ignorant, nerdy kids. You could tell all three of us that came as LFG were so uncomfortable the entire time but we just wanted to get it done.

Ugh. Lame.

ANYWAY. I decided to hop on my poor lonely Titan and mess with her afterwards AND HOLY POOP. I had gotten the Twilight Garrison exotic chestpiece from an engram on my Hunter and had just tossed it in the Vault knowing I would likely not touch it for a long while since I haven't been playing enough to play with all 3 characters and on top of that my Titan is my least favorite.... BUT NOT ANYMORE. That chestpiece is absolutely incredible! I instantly stopped maining my Warlock once they introduced the Nightstalkers Shade Step because to me mobility is the best part of games and good use of movement is what sets apart the average player to the stellar. Regardless I have talked about the Nightstalker ad nauseam because I just love it so much but now with this Twilight Garrison I really just want to use my Titan! Which is a first since Destiny launched!

I plowed through some Heroic Strikes with it on to mess around with it while running a Blessings Defender and I felt like I was playing 10x better than normal being able to be so agile.

But yeah my poor Titan doesn't even have a legendary Helmet and I have one usable Apron/Class armor and it is ugly as hell and all her other armor is barely 300 so it looks like I will be trying to run another Hard Raid tonight to possibly get better gear. With all my maxed weapons and stuff my Titan is still I believe like 312+ but still would much rather have her on par with my Hunter at 318 now.

Now if the Warlock ever actually gets the Astrocyte Verse I suppose I will have all three with amazing mobility options!

I love how I basically was all but done with Destiny just a few weeks ago and yet here I still am... damn you Bungie!!

Wait, what? I've never heard of either of these. Elaborate please!

Twilight Garrison is finally in the loot table (proper) for everyone.  It lets a titan do mid-air dodge maneuvers, key word being mid-air.  I've been using it too and it IS fun.  But definitely need a lot of practice to really make it shine, like the MOTW in the last Bungie update.

Astrocyte Verse is a new one to me, but guessing it has some sort of  dodge too.  I'll need to watch for that one.

EDIT:  Here's the vid I mentioned

I got a chest engram from SRL and it turned into... like my 8th Alchemist's Raiment.  Damn - want one of the new ones!

Yeah the air dodge is amazing once you get the hang of it! That video has some pretty awesome clips to showcase how awesome it really is! : D

And the Astrocyte is a Warlock Helm that increases Blink distance and reduces its cooldown.

I've been taking a much more zen approach to SRL now...I think I caught myself saying there is no spoon while trying to maintain 1st. Now it's been a lot more top 3 but I still find myself being in the lead for 2 laps then suddenly everyone gets better and I drop to 3rd or 5th. I did manage to pull a 1st place last night and was handsomely rewarded with a 320 helmet. I'm surprised I'm still getting new shaders and horns every so often.

Then there was Salvage. I didn't know the game will mercy the other team and end it for you early...my only regret was dying once. I thank my teammates for being on point as well as well as them both flying that Queen's funky 3 prong looking ship making it look like they were escorting me to the Salvage playlist. hehehe.

Did some story missions, unlocked the Nightstalker subclass and now i'm up to 295 light. Tonight is Xbox SRL racing, not sure what every race has a trophy but I hope that means better drops or an emblem just for participating during the 2 hour event.

A 320 helm - that still eludes me... I did manage to grind out the 2 more wins my Hunter needed tonight. I got the last one pretty much on my last attempt (here at 6am). For my trouble I got a horn package again (and no sparrow with it like my friend got). Oh well...

Now it is just grinding for the 320 items. Blah. I did one Nightfall last night and it netted me 19 strange coins, which at least was better than the 295 ghost and weapon the other guys got.

What is this Xbox SRL racing thing you are talking about? I have a friend who was going to be out of town after tomorrow and he wanted to get 3 Raids in before he left so that's not a good time for anything SRL.

Edit: OK, I found it: https://www.bungie.net/en/News/News?aid=14231

If you are matched up with one of them AND place top 3 you'll get an emblem. But it is really early (4-6pm Pacific) so that sucks ass.

So far I have one win on my class S. The finish without wrecking was easy. I'm not trying terribly hard either. With the holidays I don't have a ton of time to be on and when I am it is between this and Battlefront. That game is just a lot of fun for me even though I'm not great at it (I am getting better). It looks like lag is more prevalent in SRL. It could be that everybody is traveling in a pack VS being spread out in Crucible, but I think in the majority of my games there has been at least one person that is teleporting all over the track.

If anybody wants to set up another boosting group I would be willing to help out (and boost myself).

I'm still enjoying the racing but I think it's because I only do about 2 - 3 races at a time, maybe 4 if we all more or less finish quicker than usual...then I do a story, pvp, and come back to racing. Hopefully by event's end I'll be doing Nightfalls and raids w/you guys and get a sweet helmet drop to infuse all these helmets into, otherwise I'm going to have a 320 racing helmet that functionally isn't as useful in combat as it is for racing.

I want 19 strange coins which will just turn into 3 of coins and/or another exotic when Santa Xur comes back to town.

So the other night I was in a Heroic Strike and got the Taniks Cloak and about pooped my pants I was so excited and last night I ran another NF with my Titan and I got the Solar Flayer Cloak! Hahah super lucky seeing as I had been trying to get those since they were found! Speaking of good luck though....

I FINALLY GOT A 320 GHOST!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh man I was so stoked. My and my buddy LFGed for a full Raid run plus Challenge on our alts. I was on my poor Titan who at the time was only 311. We got probably the worst leader ever. He was so obnoxious and annoying and their group was not even good at all. My buddy and I were texting about how bad it was and finally he just left he couldn't take it. That group had multiple people come in and leave and yet the guy insisted still it was just all them.. at that point don't you think you would take a moment and look at maybe you are the worst?

Regardless the group managed to get to Oryx within decent time, not my best but whatever. I was not about to try Oryx with them though and so I LFGed another group and as soon as I had posted I got like 8 invites haha. The group I got in had no plan and they just said they would get whatever. I was like oh man I think I am going to quit these guys sound like they are going to be all over the place. And they were like no man chill we got it. Me and the other LFG handled Ogres up top since we were both Titans and lo and behold those guys were right. They all were spot on and we got it done in about ten minutes hahah. They were a group of buddies that played together so much they said they just go with it and they know what each other will be doing and never really plan then. I was impressed.

Overall my Titan didn't get a single piece of usable armor which was a shame seeing as she was so low I figured I was bound to get something. I did get that 320 ghost like I said from the Totems though so really that makes the whole night worth while. Ended up of course with another 320 weapon then though which I am not even sure what to do with. I have my Hung Jury at 320 and two more fodder 320s to infuse. I would think maybe Red Death but I am leaning towards maybe MIDA anyway for my PvP weapon.

What primary did you guys/ would you guys really want to be at 320?

Got in a group with a couple of my friends and some LFG people and we cruised through the Raid faster than I've ever seen... except for Oryx.  For whatever reason we couldn't get it done and after like 4 runs two of the guys had to go so the group broke up.

I did get a 320 cloak though!  My Warpriest challenge drop was a 320 sniper, which is the last thing I need.  I could have used a heavy to max out swords (all 3), Truth, Sleeper Simulant, Thunderlord, etc.  I ended up bumping my Telesto from 317 to 320.  Meh on that.

I tried about 4 races during the Bungie time and saw no one with the emblem.  Every race 1 or 2 people quit right away - I guess they were restarting and hoping to see the Bungie people.  But from what I read it was only two of them (Deej and Cosmo's accounts, but could be any Bungie employee using them) so the odds were miniscule that you'd get matched up.  And even if you did, you'd be up against tryhards and would have to finish top 3 in that race.  I decided that raiding was a better use of my time and the 320 cloak was worth it I guess.

Now if I could just get a helm (or 3) to drop from the stupid SRL I'll be set.

I still would like to do 2 more Raids if any CAGs are up for it. And xp100 wants to do the Black Spindle mission if there's anyone else that can help.
