I know it's not the proper place to discuss it, but there has been discussion about it...

I received my copy of Devil's Third from Gamestop today... fucking gutted copy. That pisses me off. I was most likely going to keep sealed as part of my collection. The only bright spot is that there is no sticker on the case.

GS has hundreds of stores that do GS.com order fulfillment now. These stores have been jumping at the chance to get rid of gutted items. In my experience the last 3 months, every new item I've ordered has been gutted or in the case of accessories, missing their original packaging and come with the "Open Box - Save 10%" hanger even though I didn't get 10% off.

Its YMMV of course, Best bet is to have a store check to see if the warehouse has any before placing an order for a new item. Unfortunately with Devil's Third, the warehouse had 0 so most likely the reason why mine hasn't shipped yet is its waiting for a store to fulfill it and they've probably already sold it locally.

Yep. Gamestop ships from some stores now. Has never been an issue until now. Again, at the very least there is no sticker on it and it's in like new condition, but it certainly ruins that collector's aura. I guess I'll actually play it and experience the awfulness first hand.

 
Same with my copy. Every store must have gotten only 1 and immediately opened it to display or take home and play.

All this Devils Third talk makes me wish I'd preordered it. I was only willing to spend $20 so I'll just have to wait for used prices to plummet.
 
Sort of off topic but I have a family member going to Paris and also Madrid for Christmas. I was going to have her pick up the Louvre 3DS game and I started thinking of other things she could pick up while visiting.

I would appreciate yall's opinion on things that would be relatively easy for her to get for me. Another idea that popped into my head are n3ds faceplates not available in NA and maybe some steel books?
 
Anyone ever have luck with getting SE to successfully change payment for a pre-order without them cancelling it later? I currently have FF Explorer's pre-ordered from them and my bank is sending me a new debit card. I have heard stories about how useless SE is though idk if anything has changed since they updated their website or if they still use Digital River.

have you checked foreign amazon sites to see if anything you want is available to just import yourself? cause you said to make it relative easy yet if you want to pay less wont be easy.

When we import stuff here yes we have to pay shipping but yet we dont have to play VAT Taxes which is 20% for France and 21% for spain. Which is why prices are much cheaper in the checkout cart on foreign amazon sites then on product page.

So example she buy Game A so with that VAT she paying more then you would pay (of course shipping not included)

So to get the difference back and get VAT refunded she would have to meet the following guidelines:

For France:

Goods must meet these requirements to be eligible:

  • the value of purchases from any single store, tax included, must exceed €175;
  • all the goods must be taken back with you, in your carry-on luggage, when you leave France;
  • all tax refunds must be claimed within six months of purchasing the goods.
VAT

Spain have a similar guideline

and also if she does meet any of those guidelines she will need to make sure she keep every receipt and any paperwork given at time of purchase and will need to show passport when she buy each item if she want to file a VAT as proof she isnt a citizen of any european Union Country.

Also then she would have to arrive at the airport extra early then usual when she leave the country as to stand in line at the Specific Customs Office to have them stamp and sign off on the items for the refund. They will need to see each item also to verify each which mean if she must storage any of it in her checked back she would need to go to customs before checking her bag which could add longer time at airport for her.

 
Anyone know if Nippon Ichi's webstore processes pre-order payments when the item ships or at the moment of purchase? Been eyeing the Stranger of Sword City LE but my wallet's hurting from holiday shopping.

Back when I had the Drakengard CE pre ordered through them I had a similar situation pop up. I didn't trust SE to not mess that up so I asked my bank if there was anything they could do , and explained it was a limited item that was sold out now. They said since it was a pre-authorized sale they could actually let the money go through when the ping came. Not sure if that helps you at all, or if it is something that all banks do.

I might try the same thing. I remember people having issues with the Theatrhythm CE set where they would call SE and get the card changed and SE would end up cancelling the whole order because the initial payment failed.

 
well, my copy of devil's third from gamestop came gutted. ugh really really annoyed by this one. I was going to keep it sealed as a collectors item but now I just want to return it. BS.

I think dell is the only one that sent out sealed ones. Every site so far have only reported gutted copy both from online orders and in store pickups.

Pepita is the distributor for the Square Enix online store. When people had issues before with the Kingdom Hearts II CE they contacted Pepita customer service. I was able to contact them before when I ordered my FF Type-0 CE but don't know if that has changed if its telling you to contact them online.

how long has it been since you contacted them? Cause keep in mind they usually take a while about a week to respond also with Christmas next week they probably have wierd holidays hours and more busy then usual which mean the normal wait time probably twice as long right now
 
Been 10 days since I created a ticket.

On a different note, just got a mail that Dragon Quest CE is $59.99 for today on SE website

And despite the frustrating experience here, I am thinking of getting it.

Or maybe not

 
Yeah, I always mentally calculate the added potential cost of all the time I'm going to have to lose when ordering a CE from there.  DigitalRiver was terrible, but I've had almost the same experience with Pepita.  They are so very painful to deal with.

there packaging job is a lot better then digital rivers packaging though i have noticed

For some reason, TreeHouse Brands handled distribution of the Tomb Raider CE rather than Pepita, at least for orders from the Tomb Raider Store. They never respond to their 1-800 voice mail. I would also look to your credit card company for a remedy as I have never been able to get Treehouse to respond.

 
My Fire Emblem Fate SE just sold on ebay this morning to a buyer whose account was also created and opened today. I have a feeling this buyer is attempting to scam. Buyer have already paid, item will not release until Feb 19th so I have a little time to figure this  fuck ing shit out. 

Can anyone chime in and provide whatever knowledge or expeirence you have had dealing with new account buyer purchase. I have a 13 yr history with ebay and 100% feedback over this time. I would just cancel this but that would likely mean my 1st neg feedback.

Preorders on ebay are technically only allowed 30 days before item releases.

My Fire Emblem Fate SE just sold on ebay this morning to a buyer whose account was also created and opened today. I have a feeling this buyer is attempting to scam. Buyer have already paid, item will not release until Feb 19th so I have a little time to figure this fuck ing shit out.

Can anyone chime in and provide whatever knowledge or expeirence you have had dealing with new account buyer purchase. I have a 13 yr history with ebay and 100% feedback over this time. I would just cancel this but that would likely mean my 1st neg feedback.

fuck ing eBay, they really need to address this issue. Buyer will probably just claim damage or lost in transit and get their money back.

Sometimes when you charge something there will be a contact number for the merchant listed. You can check your statement and see if there is a number on it.

Sold video game stuff to newly opened accounts all the time. Never had an issue. They can't claim lost in transit if you show proof of delivery. Now there are always scammers using the item not as described trick but it doesn't happen as often as you think. Ebay does also take into consideration that this is a brand new account should the buyer try to pull a stunt like this. Just curious though, how's your feedback? I also think that matters, for example no new buyer has even attempted to take advantage of me but I have thousands of feedbacks and is a top rated seller. I've sold thousands of sports cards and memorabilia over the years to achieve this. So Ebay is not gonna side with claims from some Newbie with a newly created account vs an established seller on Ebay with no history of fraud. But next time, don't sell preorders, you're always at a disadvantage.

I have a 10yr history with eBay and 600 positive feedback. I would hate to ding that to 99.9%. If I do go through with this transaction, I intend to pay for signature confirmation and recording/snapping pix of the seal FE Box and placing into a stuff cushion delivery box.

I just kinda wish eBay would allow seller to block buyer with 0 feedback esp those that just open a brand new account to purchase expensive items.

Also, something to note, the buyer's name ended in a hyphen 1 (-1). i try looking up the name w/o hyphen but didn't find anything.

Considering how many of the Xenoblade CEs showed up damaged, I think you're really taking a gamble selling a preorder of this. Even if the buyer isn't a scammer, the chances of you getting one in nice shape and then safely reshipping it to someone is risky at best.

 
I sold a Xbox Elite Wireless Controller on Amazon and the guy claim that I send him an empty box. He filed a claim and I lost even though I showed proof of shipping. How can a empty box weigth 3.8 pounds? I got screwed over... lost my $ & product. This was the 1st time someone did this to me. I still have his address and if I ever visit Georgia... I'm going to hunt him down.

You can sign him up for all sorts of sweepstakes. you have his name and address. That'll ensure he gets bombarded with junk daily.
