Hey guys, since the news is a bit slow, can I ask a few questions about the Vita I'm unsure of? I tried googling some of these but I get mixed results.

When you guys change a game or a memory card, do you turn off the Vita or put it to sleep or just leave it on?

Is it bad to put the Vita to sleep for long periods of time? Is turning off regularly the way to go?

If the Vita runs out of battery while your playing the game, when you charge it back, is all the progress lost or does it continue from where you left off?

Do you guys charge at 0%, 5%, 50%? Or just anytime?

How exactly does the near thing work? Does it tell who around me is playing, or do I have to walk around and find if other Vitas are near by? But what if it's only on Wifi, how does it detect other Vitas without Wifi on?

Thanks!
1) If changing the memory card, turn the system off. If your changing the game, leaving it on is fine.

2) Doesn't matter, your preference.

3) Depends on the game. Some will leave right where you left off right before the shutdown while others will place you back at your last save.

4) I charge it whenever it gives a low battery warning. That is when I turn it off completely.

5) It will show you a radius of who is playing what around you. Sometimes, you'll find no one and will have to walk around. It will not detect other Vitas if their wifi is off or if they did not setup NEAR.

There were TWO round stickers which is what made me concerned that this was a returned unit. Would Sony put two stickers? Any other way I can tell?

This is the seller's feedback. It sounds like they dont respond to emails anyway? Should I contact paypal for a return?

I have the borderlands bundle. There's 1 round sticker on the top and 1 on the bottom. The inside box is completely white, with just some barcode stickers on the bottom. I believe it was just in the styrofoamy bag. Cables were in little plastic bags.

I can only tell ya what I do, which doesn't mean its the right way of course.

For a game cart, I usually put it to sleep before taking it out, but I think I've done it on the home screen while it was on too. Of course I exited the game before removing it. For memory card I always turn it off. It has to build the database or whatever. I actually had an 8gb card die on me. It was quite the scare but I managed to backup my save data before sending it in to sony for a replacement since it was still under warranty.

I almost always leave it on sleep. I do that with all my electronics except PC actually. I leave things like vita, 3ds, phone, tablets on sleep all the time even if I don't play with them for months. Screw the environment.

I haven't seen the vita run out of batteries yet. I usually charge it before it hits the red.

I guess I usually charge it when it's around 50%.

Haven't touched near, or any of those other useless apps.

Most people gave you replies but i just want to reiterate that you really need to turn it off when swapping memory cars. I believe it even says so in the user guide if you read that.

Im surprised how many of you put your vita to sleep. The thing seems to have a prety meh discharge rate. Id think it would be worse in sleep mode

Putting the Vita to sleep is one of its best features. It holds a charge for days unlike the 3DS.
Which is crazy since the psp and ds also held their charge for days. Vita improved the tech and can last for weeks even, while 3ds went backwards and can barely last a day...

My PSP never lasted more than a week or so on sleep.

My Vita has been slept for weeks and only lost like 10% or so. And that's with PS+ enabled.

you all must be referring to the sleep mode on the slim vitas as the oled ones are battery sucking monsters just like the og 3ds I have.  Neither can last for more than 3-6 hours before they die :/

You guys aren't worried about the sudden price jumps that generally happen to all things Amazon?
It's obviously a risk but from all of us watching it seems they keep dropping until they start selling. Once they start selling they seem to stop dropping and remain the same price for a while. It seems if they stay the same price without dropping for a bit then they spike back up in price. If we remain patient the price should continue to drop, from what we've all witnessed in the past.

Definitely something wrong with your vita. i only have the oled and it has slept for weeks with little discharge. Definitely not the same as the atrocious 3ds battery.

I've had my oled one since launch. Its been in sleep mode for over a week, still plenty of juice left

Thanks man, so having two stickers on the top likely means it was opened at some point?

Via sleep is awesome. Even when it's so low on battery that it shuts off while you're playing it is actually just going in to sleep and if you get it plugged in will be right where you left off.

You don't have to turn it off to change memory cards but it will force a reboot anyway.

Also Xonic is down to $24... :oldman:

Went to cancel but mine just shipped so oh well.

think
Lost Dimension - PlayStation Vita [background=#ffffff]by might be getting ready to jump back up [/size][/background]
People have been saying that for days now and yet it is still dropping.

Its all a gamble, grab it when it feels right, and if it keeps going hold out again until you feel its right and msg Amazon to refund the difference (assuming its within a week)

Assuming your order shows the seller is Amazon, just message them with the order and they will store credit you the difference.

Lol no they're too incompetent and the cost is too high for $1.55.

Ha, Superbeat has dropped .04 cents just over the past 90 minutes or so... I'm not really interested, as I love rhythm games but this one just doesn't look like much fun to me. However, if it does happen to hit $20 or slightly below over the next day or two I may have no choice.

I have a launch 3G/wifi Vita and barley loses battery in sleep mode. As others said there might be something wrong with your battery.

Yeah, I too have a 3G OLED and, for example, I was playing plugged up on Friday. Put it to sleep. Just checked (36+ hours later) and it's still showing full battery. I think the sleep mode on this Vita might even be better than my 3000 PSP. (But I might be mis-remembering on that one.)

My PCH01001 (OLED Wi-Fi) Vita does great with sleep mode. Can go days without significant battery depletion. My PSPs models 1000, 2000, 3000, never held out for more than just a few hours in sleep mode.

The Nintendo 3DS is just a really bad insult to modern technology. When I first got it back in Spring 2012 it had to be recharged every two days even if virtually all I did was keep it in sleep mode in my pocket and walk around with to try collecting Street Passes. And now here we are at the end of 2015 and I have to recharge it every day. To put that into perspective, I got my Vita about a month after system launch, early 2012, and it still holds a great charge, can put it in sleep mode for over a week, come back to it and haven't lost very much charge at all.

I wouldn't over analyze the situation. I've seen boxes with 2 stickers in the past, I think it can happen when they are packaged. The important thing to check is the Vita itself; if the screen and body looks pristine, all buttons work fine, and it holds a charge, you should be fine.

Checked on few vita games, ps4 games, 3ds games and xbox 1 games the price keeps going down. So far so good on vita games. I'm holding off till tomorrow, if they slight drop or huge drop. Everything must end before the price go back up! Monday or tuesday! :)

Nintendo really isn't very adept at technology, as can be seen by all their gaming hardware for the last decade or more; not surprising that the 3DS doesn't hold a charge well. Look at the gamepad for the Wii U, they actually skimped on the battery, putting a much smaller one in while they had designed it with space for a larger one (giving it a pretty poor battery life). They cut corners everywhere possible on their hardware, to keep their profits high.

I looked and cant find it.. Anyone seen an unboxing video of Legend of Heroes Trails of Cold Steel PsVita Lionheart Edition- usually by now with the game releasing tuesday there's an unboxing video done by someone etc..

I can't say for sure honestly. Like chimpmeister said, check the vita itself. Are there any signs of wear? Any marks on the screen? If it's completely pristine, then it's probably new.

I think for the amazon games the closer the price is to ~50% off...likely a bit lower or a bit higher is the buying time for these games. Some fall a bit more (such as Noire did), but some don't. I'm still enjoying like hell seeing the games go lower and lower a bit a time. Makes for some fun refreshing times!

Not that this thread needs another post about battery life, but yeah, my 1st gen Vita lasts about a solid week in sleep mode without dying.

$23.67 now.
stop torturing him lol

this is already him probably watching it fall fall and fall even more in price

It kinda makes sense, though. If you put the 3DS into sleep mode with wi-fi on and Street Pass/Spot Pass activated, it's still constantly searching for wi-fi signals and other systems for Street Pass/Spot Pass. So it's not entirely asleep...and constant wi-fi searching/access over a few days can definitely be a drain on the battery.

My 3DSes with Wi-fi off and in sleep mode still only lasts about ~3 days versus weeks/months for my Vita with wi-fi on.

Here's a video of a random guy unboxing the PS3 version. I skimmed through it, so I don't know how his commentary is. Couldn't find the Vita unboxing yet, but since the editions are so similar, I thought I'd share in case you missed this one. My Vita edition shipped today, and I really hope it comes in decent condition to display.

That looks nice, glad I grabbed it for $10 off before at BB before it was killed. Still wish it was the :vita: version that had the mistake but I'll take what I can get.

Good to see the standard PS3 release come with a manual. Hope the Vita version does as well. Man, I miss manuals....
