So what did I miss? I was playing basketball. Should I not log into my steam account? I was logged in online and in client with idlemaster when this all happened.

Undertale is on my wishlist.  I want to play it after it gets a bit cheaper.  That being said, it is butt ugly.

I don't know why people feel the need to reach back into the 80s to copy graphics from back then.  They weren't that great even then.  Here we are on the verge of having real life graphics in games and we have to see NES or SNES level graphics.

Well look at it this way, how many RPGs even let you be a pacifist, much less reward you for being one? Most of them you're trying to save the world but mowing everything the hell down in order to do it.

I think the hype is that it just flips a lot of the RPG tropes on their heads is all. But that's good enough because not many RPGs do that or make you think much about what you are actually doing and how that affects the world.
I mean, if you play more than your standard "spank & tank" RPGs, it's typical to have "talk your way out" or "plan your way out" scenarios. I was hoping it was just a clever little RPG and I could just stab dudes in the face; much like you have to suspend your disbelief a bit when playing Tomb Raider or Uncharted. Nate and Laura are mass murders by any standard, but hey, VIDJA!

Some of the combat puzzles are fun, others have been frustrating until you learn the trick to them. I'm hoping for an interesting pay off. I can see playing multiple times if the endings are unique enough.

Still playing Undertale. It's cute, not seeing anything that's table flipping, mind blowing, gotta run to Tumblr nonsense yet. I've read enough to get the premise on "to kill or be killed" and so on... wonder when it's gonna be amazing?

Or maybe I'm officially one of the "jaded assholes". Do I get any badges or cards when that happens?
There is almost nothing in the game that suggests it's tumblrshit. It's like Steven Universe or My Little Pony. Just looking at those shows you don't think the fanbase will be retarded.

But they are. It's just sometimes there's a retarded fanbase.

Anyway, the game is pretty good all the way through but basically if nothing about Papyrus and all the stuff he puts you through makes you smile, you may be too jaded for this game.

The game more or less requires you to like idiots like Papyrus. If you are just kinda annoyed by him, it's not gonna fly.

I thought you meant the first game, but this is the two pack, right? It's currently 7.49 everywhere else, including Steam.

Incidentally, there's a pack at Humble with Metro Redux, SR4 GOTC and Gat out of Hell w/DLC for $18.49.

https://www.humblebundle.com/store/p/saintsrow_metro_doublepack_storefront
thanks, edited my post to clarify that it's both games. I caution people to read the posts in the steam community about this game because some people can't get it to run. I kind of wish I hadn't upgraded to windows 10 because at least 3-4 games I own won't run.

My point is that the game, as designed, is MEANT to be played nonviolently. You are literally thrown into a world of goofy grinning loveable dopes and killing any of them feels like kicking a puppy.

It would be like if you were thrown into the world of Disney and Apu and Goofy tried to stop you so you could kill them or you could impress them with your juggling act. And then the boss is Donald and you could spend 20 turns letting him chase you around and tire himself out then you yell back at him until you out-quack him rather than just straight up killing him. Most of Undertale's more interesting interactions are figuring out the combinations of conversation options to send people home without killing them.

It's also a bit like nonlethal in Metal Gear Solid. Nonlethal is where all the gameplay is, all the benefits accrue to a nonlethal player. There is no point where nonlethal is a harder or less interesting way to play. Because the gunplay is horrible and the game is designed so that tranqs are freakishly overpowered, it's just better to play it nonlethal stealthy.

Except here, there is no point to a lethal playthrough that isn't genocide. Any ending where you killed someone is going to be unsatisfying because the game puts every story egg in the basket of making friends and liking these goofballs and the endings where you kill people leave them unhappy. Plus, you get essentially two of the game's three major endings knocked out in one go if you do it pacifist. And a genocide run actually changes the story up considerably to where you are a psychotic, silent, creepy monster, kicking puppies and murdering children (And requires you to grind.).

Lots of solid posts regarding the events of the day, everybody. I was in 3G while reading them and didn't like any of them because f that reload page shit...but good work guys that did good work.

A lot of the game is cute and funny.  It's just not mind blowing.  And I guess what I want out of an RPG isn't the moral lecture of grinding out a bunch of toads and rats in a dungeon.  *shrug* I'll beat it, it's gonna only require another 2~ish hours.

So far in this sale I picked up Ori, Axiom Verge, Undertale, Black Mesa and OlliOlli 2. I have $15 left but not sure what to get since I already have like everything. Is there anything for $15 or under that will look and run good on my new rig?

I just got back from giving Valve power of attorney. Now to read the last couple pages of this thread...

BTW, cheapest "legit" price I've seen on FO4 was $40 a day or two ago when you could stack a GMG coupon on it's slender base discount.

Update 3: Valve has issued a statement regarding today's issues.

"Steam is back up and running without any known issues," a Valve spokesperson told GameSpot. "As a result of a configuration change earlier today, a caching issue allowed some users to randomly see pages generated for other users for a period of less than an hour. This issue has since been resolved. We believe no unauthorized actions were allowed on accounts beyond the viewing of cached page information and no additional action is required by users."
LOL, I guess they exceeded my expectations by at least acknowledging there was an issue.

I love how they can tell GameSpot and not update on their site or official social media accounts. Nice guys.

In all seriousness, I hope they get some kind of sanction for it and not just a slap on the wrist. I work at a medical facility in Washington state (Valve's home state) and addresses and telephone numbers are considered personally identifiable data protected by privacy laws. If any of the facility's employees disclose that info it's a huge deal and the facility can get fined for it.

I wish we had SNES level graphics. A lot of the so-called retro pixel graphics games are just an excuse to skimp on the art department.

I got this in my email, someone sent me a message on Origin forums. The way its written is funny lol. I removed the link bc undoubtedly its some phishing shit.

WWE 2K15: Video Circulates of Boy Screaming About Receiving Previous Year's Video Game for Christmas
"You bought me 2K15 instead of 2K16?" the boy yells in the video, posted to social media late Thursday night.

That should hold him over until the next one shows up!

And at least there's a console-version out there right now for WWE 2K16 right now for somebody (mom, dad, 2K, whomever) to get him.

[taps foot impatiently, waiting for WWE 2K16 PC to release]

EDIT:

He needs his role model, Kevin Owens, in there.

maybe it will be out for the pc in time for your daddy to get it for your birthday

MysterD was right all along. We need to go back to physical discs!
As long as the DRM disc-check eventually gets removed; full-games get thrown on discs; can get easily get patches for DRM-FREE version; an optional Steam-activation key is included; and a newer optical drive + disc format is adopted at retail for PC (i.e. BR or BRXL); and retail deals get CHEAPER - sure! :)

Id rather pirate than clutter my house with vagina repellent but to each his own.

Since my idea was for DRM-FREE copy to also include a Steam-key, you can just give the DRM-FREE retail boxed disc(s) to someone or throw it out; and keep Steam key for yourself to go activate that up.

Your problem = solved.

Was that so damn hard?

I think a lot of people don't quite understand the roots of trolling. This is the root of trolling right here.

Now don't sneer. I bet you a dollar each and every one of you felt this sort of nerd rage before. MOM THEIR NOT NINTENDOS ITS A GAAAAAME BOOOOOY.

We have all felt it. It's truly universal.

And that's what trolling preys on. Nerd rage over little obvious silly things.

It's the universal game.

I'm afraid I must have oversold it then. Part of the reason I liked Undertale so much was because it was conventional. It doesn't throw you serious curveballs. It's friendship from start to finish with exceptionally well-crafted humor and combat that really does the job. There's no trick, nothing mindblowing, nothing especially clever beyond including some 4th wall breaking shenanigans but keeping it in the background where it belongs.

There's no moral lecture. The game doesn't really get mad at you or waggle a finger at you if you kill anything. I think ONE hyperactive character feels betrayed if you befriend them and then kill any other monster but in a I WILL HAVE MY REVENGE TRAITOR sense not a ;_; hwo culd u sense. Some bosses will pull heartstrings when killed but, again, mostly in their friends noticing their death on down the line and not in the game picking on you. I wouldn't be talking about it so much if it were as straightforward and preachy as Spec Ops: The Line or anything.

All I'm saying is the game seems to me to be more rewarding if you play nonlethal and the mechanics are more interesting nonlethal. Combine that with a story that seems to me to only work well if played nonlethal (Or in the flip side, soulless hellspawn seeking to destroy everyone and everything. The story works there too but it's not fun), and you can knock out the game's best endings in one go no restarts by playing nonlethal... it just seems to me that playing lethal and NOT playing genocide is a waste of time.

i just find the news amusing and thought I share with ya all.

I didn't think much about the deeper, philosophical aspect of it, like you did

So this kid breaks a gasket complaining about a xmas present and 2K are apparently sending him one free. How is this acceptable? Kid throws tantrum like a little prick and gets what he wants.

Ended up returning the only thing I was wanting to buy this steam sale because I found it $1.50 cheaper elsewhere.  RIP steam sale.

I might get talked into Rampage Knights though...
