It seems that the BC package for Dirt Showdown on Xbox One includes the VIP Pass built in.

So they just like screwing over people on the 360 apparently.

The post asked us to reply with the worst game we had played that year. I answered with the game that for 2015 was the worst I had played. I played through Arkham Knight, disappointed with the reasons I previously gave.

I cannot understand how people don't get this.

If you only played Halo 5 last year it's both the best and worst game you played. If you played Halo 5 and Arkham Knight, and liked Halo 5 more, Halo 5 would be the best game you played and Arkham Knight would be the worst.

And the criticism for Gears of War is that it was not just a paint job on an old game. They fully had the ability to implement new features to it, yet decided to limit the game instead. In the original game you could host which map or gametype you wanted. In the new game there is strictly matchmaking for the online, but the games are not always on dedicated servers, so we're still frequently confined to host matches. 3 and Judgment had this same issue, but this is the only Gears game on the Xbox One. It should showcase dedicated servers we've heard Microsoft reference many times after their Azure promotion.

But with the limited number of gametypes they offer in playlists it's a step backwards. This means that players actually lose out on options, which, for an Ultimate Edition, is underwhelming. Had they spread the original games matchtypes of Warzone, Execution, Assassination and even Annex as standard across all playlists they'd at least allow players of the original their preferred matchtype.

That's why it would be the second worst game I played in 2015 of the games I played.

I really hated how they moved TDM from competitive to social. It's not like the players playing competitive TDM were bad at the game. In fact, I don't really notice a difference in the skill level between social and competitive.

I also don't like how they removed Assassination either, since it is required for an achievement. I know it will be up for "special events", but it's kind of dumb to essentially lock people out of an achievement a few months after release.

 
I might have screwed myself because the system let me pick twice (just two avatar props) before I found out you disqualify your entry if you do.

Unreal Tournament III - Forget the single player mode. I could play this game all day in multiplayer with bots only. Never gets old to me.

Culcept Saga - Great cross between Monopoly and Magic: The Gathering, but I got my ass kicked by the computer on the first board. I will likely return to this one again before the end of the night. The matches last a long time though.

Timeshift - Was still sealed from a Sears clearance years ago. Remember when Sears sold video games? Pepperidge Farm remembers. But now, I realize why this game was so cheap. It's a scripted game that bills itself as being a first person shooter with time travel elements. It's so scripted that the game won't progress forward until certain conditions are met, yet the level design is so poor that it's at times so confusing to figure out where to go next that I just gave up. I got so frustrated that I never unlocked the time travel abilities. I might replay this on easy since the reviews mention all the cool things you can do like stopping time and dropping a grenade into a group of soldiers.

Speaking of "Culdcept Saga" I would love it as a BC title, especially considering I have doubts we'll see an XBONE version of Culdcept. I would love to see UMVC3 but I don't know if the license no longer applying to Capcom would effect this status. I would think if you bought it, digital or otherwise it would still be valid for BC.

I don't think we'll even see a PS4 version of Culdcept which is more likely considering it's a game by a Japanese developer, Omiyasoft. They tend to avoid Xbox releases these days. The most recent Culcept release other than the 360 version was the DS version that only came out in Japan. I loved the PS2 version of Culdcept, but the games in that series have to be a bitch to translate into English, so I'm not surprised if it doesn't make it to new gen. I mean, the 360 game has 400 different playable cards. Sad part for me, though, was that I had spent $17.99 on a pre-owned copy from GameStop probably in 2010 or 2011 and hadn't played it. Ever. So I suppose my New Year's resolution for 2016 is attacking my backlog. Even if I don't beat the games, I should still see what they're about.

And I'm probably the only person who frequents this thread who doesn't care about backwards compatibility. I think it's because I didn't join Xbox Live until November 2014, my 360 is my most used system, and my Xbox One's 500 gb hard drive is nearly full. My 360 has a 500 gb hard drive with a 1 tb Toshiba external attached. I have 281 titles on my 360 (including demos), many which I have never booted up. So, until
I get a Toshiba HD for my Xbox One which won't be for a while, my 360 is going to remain my number one console. But, Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom does kick ass, and it would be nice if resources could be devoted to making it BC on the One.

Id like to know this as well. Like you said, it said "grab ALL you can", which to me means you can get more than one. I grabbed one from each category and it said I won each.

Im sort of hoping they some how run out of Dragonball Xenoverse codes and instead send me the $65 they claimed the game is worth. At this point though, I am expecting not to get anything. I already got a $25 code for doing nothing so I wont complain about it.

 
No refund for Project Spark here either.  If you haven't received your refund you need to fill out a trouble ticket with the developers.  I was going to do so, but the purchase history on Xbox.com has changed and I can't find code redemptions in the history anymore.  Anyone know where that can be found?

Still no way to screw over the 360 owners. I noticed the Dirt 3 vip pass is *still* free. So no excuse from MS/Codemasters right now really.

Also despite tweets to both Lucid Games, Activision and MS I have not heard what's going on with Geometry Wars BC for XB1. The fact that they can shutdown the license is quite scary for the digital future when I had the game downloaded to my hard drive.

Edit: Noticed Geometry Wars is officially taken off the list now.

I had the same observation last night. Know I did it on the last day but if I need to provide proof that's going to be tricky.
 
I think that if you disconnect from Xbox live and have not tried to play it since it was removed, it will still work, but once you try it connected to live, it revokes your digital rights.

Yeap. Because the rights were blocked on Microsoft's side. I'm guessing Activision/Lucid Games/Somebody had issues because Microsoft published the first Geometry Wars game.

They said there would be licensing issues with PGR, so won't be surprised if that game doesn't go backwards as well.

Surprised theres not more of a uproar about the game but based on tweets and what not I'm probably one of the few that cares. There are dozens of us! DOZENS!!!!!!

Exactly. It's what's so weird about it. They removed so many modes and for no valid reason. Microsoft offers developers free dedicated servers for use. And the way they explained it is that servers would automatically adjust for high and low levels of gaming populations. Black Tusk...the Coalition is owned by Microsoft. If anything this release should have been used to present the new game generation a sample of what might be possible for Gears of War 4.

It just seems like a huge misstep for a series that is first party and looking to build a new trilogy on this system to not focus on showcasing the power of that system.

Plus, if it's just a nostalgia run, taking away modes that players enjoyed from the original is a contradiction.

 
That Backwards Compatibility removal is scary. Basically any studio can just retract their acceptance of it then? One of the biggest reasons my brother-in-law bought an Xbox One and traded in his 360 was because he knew he'd be able to play many of his games on the One. He plays more 360 games than One games on it.

Searched online and no solutions were found. The only option seems to be calling Microsoft about this and hoping they have more a detailed history for your account.

Geometry Wars or Geometry Wars 3? Lucid's only involvement is with the newest game since they're an independent studio.

That said, I'm not surprised that there would be rights issues since I've mentioned it a few times before. BC on Xbox 360 isn't going to have the huge support some expected because of lapsed rights, of many kinds, for many of those games and because publishers hold the power to put them up on the service. If that changes and they can add tons of games at a time, I'll be pleasantly surprised, but I'm not making any sort of drastic decisions about my set-up expecting that the vast majority of titles will be available. That's a fool's plan.

I love my xbox and have pretty low interest in a ps4 (hell they were only $200 and I still passed), but m$ has fumbled at every opportunity this generation. Pre launch buzz was consumed by always online and game sharing fiascos, kinect only launch really hurt sales, m$ failed to attract devs to ID@xbox, and numerous flagship titles have had ruinous launches and were generally lackluster games. I don't know how m$ is going to continue supporting xbox.

On a positive note I am really enjoying Diablo. I should have picked it up over the summer for $30, but I talked myself out of it because I have it on 360, ps3, and pc. Glad I finally got it tho, I play games on my xbone much more frequently than everything else combined. The adventure mode and rifts really help break up the monotony of static maps and an identical plot to D2.
 
Eh, I feel like the majority of Xbox's problems this generation stemmed from the rough launch and stuff the Old guard made happen. The meh status of ID@xbox is surely because PS4 blew up so fast.

The only major failure I'd put on the current team is Master Chief Collection, which sounded like it was caused by overconfidence from 343, and desperation to have something big from Microsoft.

Sony gave me the vibe that they've been coasting on easy success for the past year, while MS appears to be trying to improve, which is part of why I went Xbox over PlayStation.
 
I broke down and bought nhl 16 and sleeping dogs before the sale ends.

I also got rare replay from Amazon. I think rare replay is gonna get deleted. I don't know why I bought it other than it being $20 and I had an Amazon gift card. I have zero nostalgia for any of those games.

Overall I think the XBL sale was pretty good. I got a lot more than I thought I would. I don't know if metal gear is my kind of game anymore. It's too early to tell at this point, I've just been crawling around a hospital for twenty minutes. I really want to like it though so I'll give it some time. The only other metal gear game I've finished was that one on game cube. I loved that game!


Rise of the tomb raider is gonna be awesome though. I'm only one chapter in and I'm already hooked.


Oh, and I'm also still waiting for my 75,000 VC for nba 2k16 from the gimme5 promo.

^ See even though I didn't have nostalgia for a lot of the games in Rare Replay, I had heard a lot about a few of them and it was great to be able to play them. When you gained the said objectives for the game there were neat little Dev videos to unlock. Then the games I had nostalgia for were great to be able to play them again with a little life to them with the added presentation and challenges.
