Not sure about the light level of class items, but I can confirm that 320 ghost drops in IB. That's how I got mine.

not too long ago the aliens that invented and maintain the interwebs came up w/the technology to make any URL end with almost anything. I think the also charged a buttload for it, so major corps could have a website like coca.cola etc. I think in NYC you can get .nyc as a domain something, so long as your business is registered in NYC. (at least that's what they told me)

also that link isn't part of the www, which I'm sure means something to ppl who know stuff about that stuff...instead of illustrators like me who only know how to make pretty drawings for programmers :)

re: snow storm, I seriously hope the 55 mph gusts push that storm past the greater NY area and out to sea...I got grown up responsibilities to do this weekend.

even if you don't think you can pull off the entire distance, just getting the 1st check point or platform in hardmode would be a feat in itself.

 
It's only on Titan with the Twilight Garrison.
That would really come in handy if I can learn that, since the Tomb ships hate me for some reason.

Haha. Yeah I dated Lara Croft in college...so I lucked out doing the ship puzzle my first attempt plus Io and I get a hidden force bonus when we do raids together due to the infinite link.

I suppose as cool as that is I can't complain as a hunter with all the agility that can be amp'd up through gear and class perks.

I've heard people talking about this before but never actually seen anyone do it. I dunno - seems harder to pull off that just doing the ships normally. Though it certainly would be faster, that's for sure.

I know the ships seem daunting at first, but you really do get used to them.

"Crimson Days" is a Valentine themed event that sounds as lame as can be.  The only specific thing they mention is a new 2-vs-2 crucible mode called "Crimson Doubles".  I can definitely see passing on that.   Hopefully it does not have any good loot I'll feel the need to get.  It starts Feb. 9th and goes for a week.

The other news is that Iron Banner is coming back with Rift as the game mode next week (Jan. 26th).   They have the fusion and scout rifle along with the chest and leg armor as the reward items this time.  Meh - I have enough bounties left over to turn in that I can probably hit rank 5 with minimal effort so why not.

Likely they will also sell Valentine theme emotes as well...you know it'll have some 320 gear just to troll you Io and shaders and emblems exclusive to the event. I think I'd actually buy an emote that catches a rose from the virtual,Sky, sniffs it then tosses it like a matador.

If you are up for it (and it has some decent rewards) we could give the doubles a try. I suppose if it has this new skill-based matchmaking we have as much chance as anyone. I probably won't be around for the first few days of the event but I should be able to play starting that Friday.

As for Rift in IB... Well, I know a guy who is really good at being the runner. But the thing is, he's pretty much stopped playing Destiny so I'll have to see if I can get him back into it next week. And hopefully they don't match up singles against full fireteams. As bad as that can be in Control or Clash, it is game over from the start on Rift.

I'm up for doubles. You know it'll have to have some decent rewards otherwise there's little reason for veterans to really want to participate...in fact if it doesn't have decent rewards it'll be more of a detriment and deemed a lame limited time event, esp after the weekly update was on winter break. I expect a lot of variant red shaders and probably crimson colored equipment...can I get one w/the Cobra symbol on it?

I suppose it's like trials which I haven't played but 1 less person. I remember reading a few threads where ppl wanted a 2v2 playlist. Speaking of which, I need to hammer out the elimination match quest sometime in the near future for the heck of it.

I'm bad at rift likely because it's the least pvp mode I've played and don't understand all the aspects of it yet. Last time I played and grabbed the spark I soon realized I'm rather limited in what I can do and what I lose access to. I'll watch some videos and get a better grasp it along w/the maps. CTF on the other hand I was decent enough to enjoy it in halo and TF2.

It's Friday, still need to do the last part of the Exotic Sword quest, the Nightfall, and of course still amp'd up for King's Fall on Sunday...w/the storm coming this weekend, who knows re: my internet and availability. I do have cable modem, so in theory I should have just as un/stable a connection as usual. (Nat is open, still dunno why I DL sometimes)

Also to note, Lost to Light is back. I'd like a shot at the black spindle again if possible...benefit this time around is my light is significantly higher than it was the 1st time I tried it w/Io & Moose.

Did the random heroic strike last night, gave us Dust Palace...no cloak for anyone, my teammates were great up until the final fight and then they were just timid for some reason. After we cleared the adds, I just jumped down w/my sword and w/the help of Don't Touch Me Gloves, I ate the 1st boss. Adds in, clear adds, repeat 2nd boss w/sword. Then finally the 3rd. One of my randoms took the hint and went in w/his sol edge. I think it was a perfect run for me minus not getting the cloak, no deaths on my part.

Also the daily is the Black Spindle mission if you guys want to run it. If we do we should wait till we get your sword 100xp since they melt the yellow bar Taken guys you fight.

Wild caught shade step helmet! Woo hoo! Dropped at 310 too...rolled on exotic chest with Xur got tantella at 310...then I said what? 310 exotics I must roll again. Tantella again but at 290. Wth?

Now I look like ultron.

Hopefully we can get something going tonight because I could use a break from snow stuff.

Was lucky to get through storm without losing power. We dodged the high winds here that were reported nearer the coast. But we did get some of the higher snow totals though... A couple of towns nearby reported 40", I measured 36" in multiple spots in my yard, and still haven't heard the official total for Winchester,Va yet.


100, you're in the NY area, aren't you? Did you guys get through ok?
Anyone else in the path of the storm?

Sanitation dept working round the clock to clear roads...and undo all the shoveling I did and rebury my car.

Otherwise not complaining that it's currently sunny and melting some snow.
 
Sounds like the situation at Bungie is not looking very good so not surprised that we have heard nothing for months on new content:

It is kind of interesting how these articles are taking that information and making it sound worse. A delay of September could mean that it is coming October. It could mean next year. A lot of articles seem to hint that. I do agree that it is concerning that there is no info on content to keep us busy until then, but in a way it is nice because it gives me time to do/play other things.

Had some dynamic feeding schedule changes so I think I ended up logging in at 10:31. Still got some story progress done etc. would still like to get the sword quest complete and of cours Kings fall.

Do we have a full fire team?
 
I'll try to be on around 10:30 eastern but I may be a bit late.  Things are always up in the air that time of day due to it really being 7:30 for me and there's lots going on in the house then usually.

On the other hand, I may not be available at all the next 2-3 weekends so if we are going to do another run, it probably should be tonight.

Sounds like we have 4 - if Moose or Glock want to join in that would be great.  Maybe we can get Oryx done this time.

I'd still like to run a Nightfall too.

Woo Hoo, great day so far.

Io, I looked up the problem with that Skyburner Command Pass---we couldn't have a patrol going at the same time.
Tried it today, and got the fragment for my 44th, and then I decided I'd use that key for the Chest of Xol that I got last night and it gave me my 45th fragment!
So I got a couple of guardians to help me quick with the final stage, and now finally have Touch of Malice.
I really never thought I'd get that done. I appreciate everyones help, especially getting through the Raid.
 
Finally got Mars war stat...but the game did its best to troll me.

1st it just happened, and I was like oh snap...sparrowed over and hit the side of a cliff and fell in the cabal dome opening on the top...so I was delayed in my excitement. Then taken started spawning near the war stat...okay. The the two other guardians in the area left...still hanging in there. Then destiny servers dumped me. I logged back in and it was gone, I ended up getting it later at the buried city solo without any trolling.

Now I just need earth war stat.

I'll be on same time tonight and up,for whatever. Maybe we can just do some of the kings fall raid before reset if we have the numbers otherwise dailies and farming seems like the norm.

Congrats on touch of malaria. Lol, autocorrect...touch of malice. I guess I need to spend some time finding the rest of the fragments now.

Pretty quiet evening, got housed in clash repeatedly...it's like every match I got into was the maps that I favor the least and highly populated w/titan's w/shot guns and hammers or always turning the corner and getting caught in crossfire 2 or 3 v 1.

Got inspired and decided to see how many calcified fragments I could find solo...now I'm just missing 10! (5 and I'll be eligible for Touch of Malice woot!) I think the remaining 10 are mission related or special summoning related ones, i.e. court of oryx, Oryx himself, king's fall challenges I haven't done yet, and one or two that only appear in strikes. Did about a dozen court of oryx rounds w/randoms, mostly tier 2 and I think one or two tier 3...I can only assume seeing that many yellow bars meant tier 3. Bolt Caster's super move? sick...absolutely sick in court of oryx.

I have my charged agonarch rune and after watching the video, I think I'd prefer to have a fireteam for that one. Also I have a Skyburners Command Beacon & Skyburners Deployment Codes key.

Seems Destiny is suggesting I play a Warlock next, after getting the lock helmet in saber I picked up a heart of the praxic fire chest from a campaign story mission.

I'll be on as usual tonight w/out interruption...playing IB & cleaning up story missions.

I'll try my best to be on tonight but zzzQuil is a hell of a drug and I am addicted to it. I'm pretty sure I am skipping IB this time around but you never know. I did get a great hard mode raid group on Kings Fall today and we got everything but Oryx on our first try and even he only took two tries with challenge mode. I really did get crap drops with my 320 primary being the hand cannon which sucks. I dint get the helmet or a ghost to drop which sucks. So i am still stuck at 317 with only a helmet and ghost holding me back from 318+. Hopefully next week the Warpriest challenge mode drops me a 320 heavy I can infuse to my 318 rocket launcher.  

Also another crap NF reward this week a 293 Auto Rifle with horrible perks. I guess its better than a sub 300 ghost for the seventh week in a row.

 
Question...airborne is one of the skulls on the NF this week, if I'm using celestial nighthawk and fire the one 6x golden gun shot, would that 1 shot one of the bosses if I fire it while jumping? I've used celestial night hawk on a taken patrol mission and honestly it took 2 shots which was disappointing, esp after hearing this exotic one shots Crota.

Otherwise I'd play night stalker as usual for anything PVE.

I'm hoping to get one of those funky cloaks finally.
 
I need weapon advice do I infuse the Dead Orbit vendor version of my Hung Jury to 320 or my raid scout rifle that has full auto as it's perk? I would say I like them both equally and much would rather use a 320 scout compared to the 320 pulse rifle I currently use for PvE.

Well, "one-shotting" Crota doesn't mean to kill him, just down him. Then someone else hacks at him with the sword. It took 3-4 Gjallarhorn shots to down him back when we were level 32, so it is no surprise Celestial Nighthawk can down him in one shot.

ajh - I was lucky enough to get the Raid pulse with Firefly at 320 and that is by far my favorite weapon for PvE. It is a decent substitute for my favorite year 1 weapon Fatebringer. I have a raid scout with full auto at 319 but I just don't find myself using it. But then I don't like using scouts in PvE, so I probably am not the one to answer your question. If I was going to make a legendary scout rifle 320 I'd probably do my Trials one which has full auto and hidden hand.

I'll probably be on tonight for the Oryx challenge and a little IB.

I see...well, vault of glass is on the list but there's so many other things to do first.

I think I'll stick with night stalker, orb factory and utility is just too good for PVE...tried blink again in crucible and I feel like I'm entertaining the other team with my fail attempts of blinking in low ceiling rooms.

I like scout rifles for every day patrolling and some campaign stuff but for daily heroics and raiding, there's usually instances where you get swarmed and I find the scout rifle is just too slow to keep up. I personally like auto rifles for anything heroic plus and boss fights plus one of my AF has high caliber rounds and that seems to work on mobs decently...but that's perpsnal preference. I'm going to try pulse rifles next engagement and see how it works as sort of a happy medium.

Hopefully IB rift doesn't prove to be a streak of not winning. Haha.

Holy crap I just realized solar is also one of the modifiers for the NF...so jumping in the air and firing a celestial night hawk shot for 6x plus airborne plus solar = hopefully insta kill boss round...and if you're lucky you could keyhole penetrate and maybe get 2 of them.
 
Yeah, that is exactly why I like pulse rifles now.   My problem with scouts is that they are longer-range weapons.  Pulse rifles can usually take stuff out at medium-to-long range but also work well close up.  I try to use ones that are longer-range or have range-boosting perks.  In that case they really are a happy medium between scout and auto rifles.  You can also get them with full auto if you want an auto-rifle like perk - though the pause between burst shots might throw you off a bit.  I prefer not to have them be auto-fire myself, though I do like that on scouts.

I do like that Haakon's Hatchet from last IB though.  I might use that a bit in IB this week.

What is the Nightfall strike this week?   Solar is good since I have an abundance of solar weapons (1000-yard stare and my raid MG in particular).

Blink can be hard to master but it is great for avoiding an enemy when needed.  If you are in a one-on-one (or even outnumbered) and your health is running low you can sometimes blink away to safety.  You can also use it to blink-shotgun someone which I know many find really annoying.  I think I've only ever done it a couple of times myself but if you catch someone not prepared for it, it can be effective.  At the very least, it is a good way to navigate the map since you are less likely to be lined up for a headshot if you are blinking to your destination.  For that alone, I use it on my Hunter or Warlock when I can.

Didn't do any raid or IB Tuesday - just hopped on to grab the bounties for Tuesday.  Hopefully Weds evening I'll be able to both raid and do some IB.

 
IB/Rift doesn't seem as bad as I thought it would be mainly because majority of the matches I've played were either won or lost quickly.

Hunter/Blink is definitely a nice strategy for getting the relic and yourself out of harms way...getting top score on the other hand seems to be a feat all in itself. I think last night Bannering w/Flacksguy I came in 2nd twice, and once I only missed top score by 10 points...and ended up getting nothing for drops despite my efforts. I think the other time I got a 264 ghost. meh.

One of the annoying strategies I noticed were teams trying to score points purely on frags and killing the runner. They'd congregate near the rift and have 2 snipers way back on the map...and just wait. Annoying because the matches usually end up going the entire allotted time.

At the end of the night I managed to get rank 2, upgrade my go to heavy machine gun from 292 > 298 and got a pair of 303 IB boots.

Highlight of the night? Stopping the runner on two accounts w/a throwing knife to the face a few feet away from our rift on Bannerfall.

I'll be on as normal tonight, hopefully we muster up a NF and/or whatever else is on the menu.

 
I was going to hang around and get into some games with you guys, but I got into a really long losing streak and had enough.

Earlier in the day was pretty good though, played on my Warlock and got the chest armour right away, and boots soon after. Also got a Red Death finally, which is something I'd been wanting for a long time.
Oh, and I got another Colovance's Duty, so I can use my higher one to infuse something. That gun is really not very good, but I do want to keep one.


BTW, I see where you can track your calcified fragments by character now on the Bungie site.
Figures it would become available just a couple days after I not longer need it.

I think I'm 2/18 today and need one more win to finish this bounty...this losing streak is pretty demoralizing, I'm actually a few matches of away from saying f this bounty.
 
Ironically enough after my rant post we managed to pull off a win and score 2500+ for that bounty as well...now that I'm done with the blade dancer arc blade kill quest I have less reasons to put myself in less favorable situations based on need. I don't believe I got any note worthy drops either or IB gear since the 303 boots.

After seeing today's bounties for iron banner I really don't know if I have the mental fortitude to click accept on the 26 matches and 10 wins bounty.



So anyway I hope I don't get matched up into another string of losses again.
 
I don't know why I'm getting annoyed about losing so much. Rank 3 is the sweet spot for after match drops.
Getting plenty of chests and scouts....none are very good, but I'm getting them. Rank 4 adds the fusion rifle into the mix.

Also got another 310 Zhalo and Plan C. Duplicates aren't so bad now that they always drop at 310.
 
Got into a few matches and won, 3 ppl in the team were clan mates and seemed pretty coordinated, I got a few lucky golden gun kills in to help,us cap.

I think the annoying aspect of losing Iron banner matches are little to no reward for time spent. If I lost every match but got good drops I would end every post with "...but I can't complain." But seeing you can only get 5 marks then it's no rep...until you can cash them in is a hard pill to swallow now that we're used to getting so,e type of reward for our efforts.

Jelly about the zhalo, I'm getting pretty decent result with focus fire swag regime. The spin up was nice but I wouldn't always win in trade off, with focus fire the impact is pretty serious and despite what ppl say that it lowers your dps I'm getting more consistent kills and able to even content with some long range trades.

3 pairs of boots in 6 matches? All under 296, infused my dance machines so they're 295 at least.

If I get it another losing streak I'll take a break and just hope to cash in the marks tomorrow when the tempered bonus goes up again.

I think there just isn't much new Destiny stuff to talk about. I've finally kicked my habit now and been playing Tomb Raider. I did hop on Destiny to play with my cousin for a bit. I don't know what the micro transactions are funding with the live team, but it isn't funding things fast enough. Especially, for me, when it is just one more PVP event.
 
I know, I came to the game late...though 3 months after TTK DLC release shouldn't seem so but amazing how quickly the Destiny player base devoured the content.
