This thread will attempt to provide a place to discuss past/present/future PC gaming deals. While mainly focusing on Steam games, any standout sales may also be presented. I will not be updating every Daily/Weekly/etc. sale. The tools to help individuals become a smarter shopper will be provided below.

See this POST for links to store sale pages, threads of interest and other tools to help you become a more informed PC game shopper.

Well, I mean, I get old games for the same reason I get new games, so I can play them if I want.  Also, I have problems.  Besides, no point in opening a sealed game that is easily found on "abandonware" sites.

I appreciate your completely loony way of thinking. You get down with yo bad self!

Shitty thing about the laptop was that I was an hour late on the BB laptop and XB1 combo glitch. Was already looking for the laptop for him. Would of been father of the year if I could of caught the glitch in time
I've been using the laptop, and it's not spectacular for gaming, to be honest.

Though it would probably be better with an extra 4 GBs of RAM.

So BundleStars informs me they have an exclusive deal... Its not much of a bundle so I figure here is just as good as the BundleStar thread. (might even be better.)

Buy/Preorder OOTP (Out of the Park) 17 and get Out of the Park 16 now for free. ($34.99)

Link

No link to OOTP 17 on Steam so I have no idea of the MSRP.
OOTP '16 will be in a Humble Weekly sometime this year, just like OOTP '15 was bundled last year, and OOTP '14 was the year before that. No rush.

Yea it's really not that great of a deal unless you want to play OOTP 16 for a few weeks before OOTP17 comes out. I mentioned the pre-order from the website though because if anyone wants to fakeybro it and doesn't mind a steam-free copy it essentially gives you two copies of the game, although the deal expires tomorrow.

re: Stardew Valley reviews on GOG (don't ask me why I was looking at GOG; no idea)

Is this whatshisface or just someone else coincidentally using that same avatar at a video games site?
Maybe some GOG gift cards fell off a truck in front of his house apartment mom's house.

Wednesday my son is turning 11. I picked up a cheap laptop for him. I didn't get it for gaming but any recommendations on any B&M that sells PC games for a decent price? I'm thinking best buy but I haven't shopped for a PC game is quite some time. Any suggestions would be great

Good to know, I haven't been to one in a couple years but remembered they had a decent selection of older titles at the time.
Don't listen to him.

Last time I was at a Half Price Book they had nothing but new copies of Motoki games.
I was actually going to recommend HPB, but it is very hit or miss depending on location. I used to live in Houston and the Rice Village one Warren I visited was the worst for me. It's near a real upscale, trendy shopping area and it's more focused on the hipster book and vinyl crowd. The Montrose and Westheimer locations were the best - but Houston was never the greatest at PC games. Like they would sell you used copies of Steam activated games.

The ones in the Seattle area were much better, but also hit or miss. The one near the university was actually one of the worst for PC games and the best one for me was a smaller one in the burbs (Lynnwood I think). We don't have then around here so I can't vouch for it, but if he has some in his area it might still be worth a look as probably the last place to score boxed new PC games and at good prices.

I made it by a Best Buy today and they actually had a decent selection of gaming peripherals. Like all the big brands, Razer, Logitech, and Corsair and they had mech keyboards to try out. I didn't like any of them. It was weird. All the keys felt super mushy. I even thought the testers maybe had fake mech keys, but then that would defeat the purpose. Plus some of the Razer ones have exposed keys on the boxed ones to test. I really like the blue super clicky ones on mine and hated all the ones on Razer, Corsair, and Logitech. They were all like browns or cherrys I think. Weird, but I guess that's why they say try them.

Also, my $6.99 wireless mouse from Amazon got here. Testing it now and will report back, but so far happy with the purchase and the presentation was really nice in the packaging.

You sure you tested out the right models? All those brands also made some "gaming" keyboard which isn't mechanical at all. Mechanical should be the opposite of "mushy". Just to let you know, Razer and Logitech doesn't contain Cherry MX switches in them. All the Corsair does. I think you just happened to try bad ones on display.

They were definitely mechanicals. The ones I tested was a Logitech 710, Corsair 70 something, and every Razer (all mechanical). I don't really know to describe it, but compared to the mechanical I have, the keys felt mushy to me. Mine has a very distinct click and feel when the key is pushed and activated. The ones I tried lacked that, not just from the sound, but from the feeling of knowing that the key has been activated. I thought it was bad displays, but the Razer ones have exposed keys for the boxed ones to test them and they felt the same. Maybe I just like super loud blue keys though.

Derpvision off to a stellar start, gg Uplay.

Can't log in for 15 minutes and then they do a 3.6 GB patch instead of pushing it out earlier in the day.

I'm patched, I think it was just file verification on steam, then I had to trouble shoot the black screen I had first time booting up the closed beta but this time my fix didn't work (Had to ALT + ENTER while in the game), and made it all the way to character creation before the severs booted me.

Cannot get back in now...

I'm still unpacking my Steam pre-load of The Dudevision. I'm super pumped that I've not experienced any black screens, server errors, or faceplams yet.

:D/

I've forgotten what new AAA game launches are like, it's... uh... *ahem*... it's been a while.

Well, if you get the black screen it can be fixed without needing to connect... Just need to Alt + Enter once it loads.

nooooooo, i was going to play the division with the bros, after taking over 30 + minutes to download the godammn patch, because of connection error, and 5 retries.

Wow this game looks real good. It dips alot to 40-45 tho at 1080 but i ran the benchmark and it says my avg fps is 50 at medium settings. Lowered some shadow settings and now i average 56 fps at 1080 and 40 at 1440p. not bad.

I'm trying to run Dark Souls 1 on my pc but the gpu usage is like super low and frame rate drops alot and stutters and I have it locked at 30 fps and at 1080p. I'm using DS fix btw, anyone know if I can fix this or not?

Late night broing report: Other than that early server outage The Division was pretty solid.  YBX and I had a good time running around New York and doing some pleasantly challenging missions.

You others should have joined us.

Go into DSFix's INI and lower the AO (Ambient Occulusion) settings or (better yet) just turn them off.

Turning them all solved all framerate issues.

Leaving them on can even half the framerate, especially in effects-heavy situations - i.e. boss battle w/ Ceaseless Discharge.

To counter-act my urge to buy Stardew Valley and jump aboard the latest hype train, I decided last night to instead get on board the last hype train we had in this thread: Undertale.

I played for an hour and a half. I don't feel like I'm "getting it". I'm scared to look at reviews until I've beaten it but it's a game that got a LOT of positive press a few months ago and for love nor money I don't see how.

Maybe I'm just getting old.

:shame:

Probably should have... but I just want to enjoy the story at this point.

After they got the servers back online I had only one discount.. That was in 7 hours of play. Also it check pointed me right back into the side mission I was doing. I was rather impressed. I wasn't expecting that for a silly ole side mission.

Very solid.

I played like 10 minutes of it. I was pleasantly surprised by the intro sequence and fact it was so different from the beta. Didn't make me feel like I'd been there done that. Will say the difficulty has spike since the beta, but the beta was a little too easy.

Very much so... Its easy to run around a corner heading to the next side mission and run headlong into a named enemy and his party of 5. (That will have you scrambling like crazy to survive.)

I'm also pleasantly surprised by the story... Its not Shakespeare but its pretty solid for a video game. But by far my the biggest pleasant surprise is just how much to do in the game... I've finished the areas that basically comprise of the beta plus two areas. I'm level 12 and have 9 hours played.

I did manage to play two missions out of order... It didn't much matter but the intel unlock was like file 2 and then file 1.

Really happy so far. :D

Little off topic, but just wanted to mention that Gigabyte is having some major issues with there motherboard prices and are having a lot of price mistakes on Amazon and other websites.

I was able to get a 1151 socket board for $14 bucks and bought a bulk pack of 10 1150 boards for $85. Nice if any of you are looking for a new budget board for cheap. They keep popping up, so keep an eye on it.

Thanks for the heads up. Might see if something pops up for my brother. I think the bulk packs will end up being just 1. I've read reviews from some bulk pack listings where people just got one.

Played 2 games of Sentinels of the Multiverse yesterday. This was quite fun and I have the physical copy as well so I know what to expect if I ever play it.

The graphics and UI are sometimes slow and not as intuitive. I had a card where when the thing it was attached to did damage you raise or lower the damage. It was so clunky to get the +1/-1 choose for all energy types. This isn't that clean like say the Small World UI where everything is relatively easy to choose and do.

There are lots of powers and the decks are prebuilt so it's easy to get in and play. I do feel that eventually you will want expansions and the $19.99 Season Pass packs at least 2 mini decks and 2 major expansion packs. The gameplay is intuitive and straightforward and is easy to pick up and the tutorial is alright.

It might be a bit simple for some cause these heroes don't level up but just use cards/powers/equipment. It's fun though and I like when you get your team going helping each other out to take out not only the main bad guys stuff but the environment as well. I can see this becoming one of my play in 30 minutes type games and I will be seeking out a discount on the season pass.

That's really not off topic at all... The hardware thread is a ghost town so its just better to post here anyways. :)

As Foxy said, thanks for the heads up. :)

Just started playing the Division and it seems to me but it has horrible character customization options there is only like 15 or 16 faces, low amount of haircuts. Would not surprise me to see Ubisoft end up selling face options and haircuts, etc as DLC
