This thread will attempt to provide a place to discuss past/present/future PC gaming deals. While mainly focusing on Steam games, any standout sales may also be presented. I will not be updating every Daily/Weekly/etc. sale. The tools to help individuals become a smarter shopper will be provided below.

See this POST for links to store sale pages, threads of interest and other tools to help you become a more informed PC game shopper.

Do people sell all the cards you get, or do you only sell dupes to make badges?

Originally I was selling all, but recently I've been trying to level up my steam account so I get a (barely) better chance at getting boosters.
Sell all but since I'm (effectively) banned from the market these days, I just let the cards sit. I also don't alt farm though, since I'm lazy. I'd judge those that do on a large scale but I used to sit around flipping TF2 items so something about glass houses and such....

So glad the Division talk died down so I could scroll through pages of rehashed ME talk. Thanks, Flow.

Anybody want to tell me their thoughts on Aliens: CM or Duke Nukem Forever? I heard Homefront sucked too. Also heard some controversy about Daikatana.

You guys aren't doing much to help my ME3 curiosity. It's getting to that point where I watched Fant4stic to see if it was really as bad as people said it was. And for nearly an hour, it wasn't.

Then it was.
I think this is actually a pretty good description of how I felt about ME3. I loved the game for most of my time with it, up until the last few hours when it goes completely off the rails. The first 3/4 or whatever were great, wrapping up story threads from the previous 2 games. It actually felt epic and like a proper closing to a film trilogy. Then it takes a bad acid trip to stupidsville. MysterD's link about Hudson apparently locking the other writers out and just throwing some random crap on paper as an "ending" makes perfect sense, and is also analogous to Fant4stic, where you can pretty clearly see where the studio starts messing with what Trank had intended (whether what he intended was better than what we ultimately got? who knows).

Anyway, the fact that people still have such strong reactions to the ending even years after the fact is testament, to me, of how involved people got in the story. Because of this, I'd say ME3 is worth the play; just know that the end is probably going to be a letdown. Maybe going in with low expectations would even help the experience.

With all those hours played, I think Tebow is the resident expert on Aliens CM. I'm sure he can tell you all about how "spanksy u bad boi" the game is. Maybe he can give you a rating based on dirty diapers/5.

I'll be honest, I only last in Duke Nuke'm for like 2-3 levels and I quit.  It was dumb and not a good DN game.  It should have stayed buried in that "when will it be released" pile.

Ah... that happened when the drama at my house hit. Sorry about that. We didn't get any extra Steam keys, did we?
Oh, hehe - don't apologize. It was a shitty party - literally. Someone at Groupees took a shit in the punch bowl. ;)

No extra keys, IIRC. Damn misleading Groupees notifications!

I'm having a hard time getting into FC:primal.  I appreciate what they're trying to do and they've done a good job of taking the FC3/4 formula and tweaking it but it just hasn't hooked me yet.  I think part of it is because I'm tired of walking everywhere, especially when there's about 60,000 dholes per square mile who want to hassle you and part of it is the difficulty in getting attached to characters who speak in Unga-Bunga with subtitles.  It's clumsy because an NPC will say something, I read what he's saying in a second (it's only five to eight words) and then spend the next five seconds getting annoyed at listening to a halting "Bjang... yan-yan... Misa tork... klan-tang!".  Plus, unlike the last two games there's no charismatic antagonist but rather some other cave guy and I guess his cave guys want to kill my cave guys because... reasons.  I suppose cave guys don't have flourishing motivations.

Taming a wolf was fun though and I managed to set a forest fire that ringed me and set me on fire.  Also, I got my ass kicked by an elk.  Mainly, I'm still trying to find a solid hook.

I sorta want to Tebow up two thousand hours in Life is Strange to annoy Motoki. Except I'm far too lazy so I'll just make a joke about doing it instead.

I never got into Mass Effect. I started ME1 right after DA:O so I think I was expecting more DA:O in Space than a third person RPG-shooter and was rapidly disillusioned. Also, I'm just not a huge fan of the space genre. Earthbound future-noir science fiction is fine but rocketships and laser guns never really did it for me.

But if you skin ten mammoths you can increase your quiver size!

God, I get why it's there in a game sense for gating progression but I really wish someone could come up with a better system than "Only bags made of dingo hides can hold bullets and only the skin of the rare gold dingo can hold 16 bullets!  That badger skin bag can hold shotgun shells but NOT bullets -- don't be silly"

How does it compare to ARK? Are they similar at all? Also, you have been unbanned from bro nights so I expect your attendance, neigh, demand it.

I see what you did there.

I just updated the thread, but tomorrow is The Division, Wednesday is Chivalry and Thursday is Titanfall.

We have a few other requested ones coming up in the next few weeks including Need for Speed Most Wanted and PvZ: Garden Warfare.
Gah, I want to play all of those.

We should add a Battlefield 3 night sometime, continuing with the Origin theme.

Not very similar to ARK except superficially (they both have spears and mammoths?). You build up your own little caveman village but that's just resources leaving your inventory for a building upgrade, not you planning and placing walls. Likewise, there's no option to build your own little hut out in the wilderness. You can tame wildlife but you only have a single pet at a time. I don't know if riding anything is an option but since FC4 had elephant riding I assume they'll plonk me on a mammoth at some point.

Anyway, it's very much a Far Cry (3/4) game just with some elements changed up.

I have Division installed but haven't played it at all yet.

I'd be down for that. I might even consider signing up for EA access for a month and doing all the games available there (but when they add more).

When Conan and PewDiePie played it, they did indeed ride a mammoth. Sounds like a less cool ARK so far. I mean, because apparently even the story isn't that great.

Yeah well I spent $56 on Farcry Primal Deluxe Edition for the steelbook.

Good thing I didn't open the game because even the steelbook sucks.  It has no title or writing on the hinge.   So I'm going to sell it new for $80-90.

What time are they at? Sorry at work; I keep wanting to do then but if I remember they are a little too late for me -.-

Huh, Dragon's Dogma already 25% off on a weeklong promo.  Can't recall if there is typically a Steam Spring Sale so maybe it'll get even cheaper relatively soon-ish?  Still, $22 is a pretty good price.

Already? You mean "I'm surprised it hasn't been cheaper already." This is Capcom we're talking about, they're quick and dirty with the discounts.

Are they?  I seem to remember it taking a while before Dead Rising titles got significant drops.  They also like to fudge around the 30% off tier for a bit, too.

Well you won't be getting any Squeenix level discounts anytime soon, but they do put their stuff on sale often.

Dragon's Dogma has been $22.50 (25% off) at DLGamer since it launched so no real rush there.

During Steam's last "major" sale (Chinese New Year?) they bravely had a "sale" on it where you got the digital art book with it.  Yaaaayyyy....

Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain is $24 at GMG with coupon. I think that is the cheapest the game has been besides the 1 cent Newegg glitch.

What's the buzz on Battleborn? Is it gonna suck or is it the next bandwagon everybody is going to jump on?

I haven't bandwagoned since Mad Max (those were good, good times) and with my birthday approaching I'm feeling adventurous.

:whee:
