PSNOT 3.0 - Let's Talk About University of Kentucky, Baby!

Bayonetta is $6.

What was the verdict on Hyperdimension Neptunia U: Action Unleashed? I know a couple of people in here have played it. Worth checking out for a Musou-style game at $9 or better to pass on?

Thinking about Ragnarok Odyssey ACE as well.  :whistle2:k

Gradius V (ps2->ps3) is $2.50 and will almost certainly never come to ps4 because konami hates America. Awesome game.

Ragnarok Oddysey Ace for $8 on vita might be a buy for me. That's a monster hunter type game, isn't it?

I enjoyed neptunia u. You earn equipment and permanent stat bonuses from the medals you get killing enemies. The transformation mechanic is fun, and there's quite a bit of post game content. The tournament mode is kind of weak, but it gives excellent accessories. I haven't tried the tower yet.

Hatoful Boyfriend to those who played it, is it worth it? Also what about the sequel Holiday Star?

Edit: Thanks Owl

I wouldn't get Ragnarok unless you have people to play with. I think they made it a little more solo friendly with ace, but it's still designed for a coop approach.

Shameless plug, I'm down for ace MP.

I played Holiday Star, but I played it like I play any VN: on the fastest skip mode possible and following a guide to just get it done quickly.

I will have to decide if I want to spring for the $2.50 to do the same thing for the predecessor.  I kind of doubt it.

It was weirdly one of my top 3 favorites I played in 2015. Your character is the only human in a school run for and attended by human intelligence level birds. It starts off somewhat cutesy as you would expect since it has the appearance of a otome game as you make decisions which determine who you end up with. Once you have seen all the character endings the main tale begins in which you get to the heart of why you are attending an all bird school.

I'll post a pretty big spoiler from early in the main tale which might convince some of you to see past the cutesy exterior if you are on the fence about picking it up.

You know that human you have been playing as, which you have helped look for love for the past 6-8 hours?

She is found dismembered in a box 15 minutes into the main tale

I got the Plat in the first Ragnarok on the Vita. That game is a must for co-op partners. I thought it was a fun game and I'm sure Ace is just as fun co-op.

Huh. There's...actually not much I want from this sale. That's disappointing.

Ar nosurge Plus ($16), Yakuza 5 ($24), and Digimon Cyber Sleuth on Vita ($24) are the only highlights for me since they're all digital-only, but I'll have to think whether I want to pay that much right now.
Thought about yakuza for a few seconds, but I still haven't touched 4 or dead souls, and it's for PS3.

Digimon is really really long game. I suppose it could have been made shorter if I didn't do every single side case. Some of which were up to an hour alone. The main story doesn't start picking up until chapter 10. There's also no true post game, so everything has to be done on the last chapter before ending the game. Everything related to the digimon themselves is good. Evolving, devolving, changing forms to inherit moves, and training in the farm, lots of ways to customize.

I haven't played a lot of ar nosurge, but the premise seems interesting. It also has one of the better battle systems I've played in quite a while. I'd definitely look into that one if you're looking for something different.

fuuuuuuuuck

lost dimension on vita for 20, that worth getting at all?
I liked it quite a bit, I played the PS3 version and Vig played the Vita version. He seemed to think the loading times I had heard about on the vita version weren't as bad as I had been led to believe.

edit: but ya, as Therm said this might be the last sale hurrah before they drop the MSRP closer to what it actually is at retail, $30.

darius burst is pretty good, but don't. That premium digital pricing is wack. I'd argue that gradius V is the better game anyways if you want a shooter in your life.

I dont care as much about the art as its just a thing we comment on.
Right. Wasn't critiquing the post, just voicing my old guy attitude about achievements and trophies.
That said, just need to kill a bunch of rogues in The Division and I've got my first 1000... oops, I mean "plat."

I used to think the same as you but got into getting trophies as a way to extend games as I never had more than one game at a time and wanted to spend less. Now I have too big a backlog and spend more than I ever did I think.

I have the assholes in here to thank for that!

Severed:

My review isn't quite finished yet but will probably post today or tomorrow.

I really enjoyed it. It's not as great as Guacamelee, but it's a fun game. The touch screen combat works well and is fun, the enemy variety help make battles feel different.

I didn't have any issues with how the screen was moving, which is what guardian didn't like I think.

It's not a very long game, maybe 6 hours to beat and 8 hours to plat. It starts a bit slow, wanting to make sure you learn and understand the mechanics. So if you're a fast learner you it might feel slow in the early going (it did for me). Luckily it picks up and gets a lot tougher in the later levels.

There are basically 3 large dungeons, and they have some simple puzzles in them as well as combat. Kind of reminded me of a first person legend of zelda a bit.

Real good game. 4/5

And here's my Shantae review:

https://invertedaccess.com/2016/04/26/shantae-and-the-pirates-curse-review/

Loved this one just like the previous one. This game is bigger than Risky's Revenge, but less interconnected than the world in that game. Both structures work, but I preferred how Metroidvania-y Risky's Revenge felt.

This one is in widescreen HD though, which is really nice. It's also pretty funny, the game has a good sense of humor.

Good week of games for me. I ended up really enjoying all 3 of the games I reviewed this week (Loud on Planet X, Shantae, Severed)

How's Sun and Moon so far? That looks fun as well.
It's alright. It's more focused on beating levels quickly, instead of just beating the level. Sometimes i don't like that structure cuz I don't want to do 100 runs of the same level just to try and shave .05 seconds off my time. I much prefer a super meat boy structure where the focus is on challenging platforming instead of fast platforming.

I've got a long way to go still though.

While playing Alienation it felt like a mix of Dead Nation, Helldivers and loot like Diablo. Don't forget about some of the best explosions on the PS4. Housemarque really knows what they're doing with making great games.

Nothing I'm really interested in, in this sale. I'm considering buying Mega Man Legends just so I could have the cred of owning it my library despite probably never playing it after I buy it. Uber eliteness. Actually I might need to buy Tron-Bonne for that too.

Lost Dimension is definitely worth the $20. It might go even cheaper in the coming months but game is just plain excellent.

The tower is just 50 levels of nonstop kill x amount of enemies. Take it as you will. The post game stuff is not as solid as the story missions.

I played Holiday Star, but I played it like I play any VN: on the fastest skip mode possible and following a guide to just get it done quickly.

I will have to decide if I want to spring for the $2.50 to do the same thing for the predecessor. I kind of doubt it.
That part was redundant.

Legend of Korra is totally bi-polar. The actual action is good and her elemental attacks are really cool. It's a perfect fit for Platinum, and it's tough. You definitely have to learn the combat a bit. I got my ass kicked around for a while before I got good at it.

But then there are some really weird and annoying running sections, and some of the environments get super dull. It definitely has its drawbacks. But it's definitely not hot garbage.

It was probably the game where Activision gave Platinum X amount of dollars and said "here, do something with this license." I'm guessing Activision was impressed with what Platinum put together with the budget they were allotted, so they started to give them more for games like Transformers and TMNT.

I thought that game was hot garbage though?
It's got two annoying components, but they're not the focus of the game. The first is the pro-bending matches, which I think there are 2-3 of in the main game. There's a pro-bending competition you can get to from the menu as well. It's kind of lame but not hard as long as you play the story for the game first. The other annoying component is that there are 2-3 runner sequences where you're riding her beardog and jumping back and forth to avoid obstacles and such. The majority of the game is just combat, though, which is solid and fun. It definitely has a strong sense of progression, too--as you level up the character it becomes a curb-stomp festival.

It's not a long game and there's not really a story, but it's tons better than Transformers: Devastation and even the annoyances I mentioned above didn't detract too much even at the full game price ($15.)

The main combat in Korra was fun. The Pro-Bending and random runner levels weren't. There's more main combat than the mini-game stuff. Definitely worth $5.

Some good reviews coming out for Severed. I'm tempted to get it, but I boot my Vita up so infrequently I feel like I definitely won't play it before it goes cheaper. Meanwhile I'm considering buying this Magic Circle game which has no launch discount or anything. But it does sound fun/interesting and I'd probably play some of it today...

I can't really tell what Magic Circle is. Is it like an adventure game?
