You know, all of that mess could've been avoided if they had refused to put FREE games in a community bundle. Check the game's store page on itch.io or whatever, realize that it's free, refuse to put it in the bundle. BAM problem solved. What's the point of paying someone to put their freeware game in your bundle anyway, it's not like people are more likely to buy a shitty community bundle because you put a freeware game in it, and the other devs/artists get less of a cut because of it.
 
At this point I think it's clear that Thomas Brooke (aka Jonny Cappucino) is a scheister the likes of Tony Novak of Desura infamy. The difference is he surrounds himself with yes men and drones and manages to somehow half assedly have his servants BS their way through every shady ass situation and somehow people are letting him do it.

I was bored and searched a little bit for more info on Thomas Brooke.

2009 article about a startup he had called "Venture Solutions" forecast $4.5 million annual revenue by 2011. The website is no more.

However, Mr. Brooke is listed on the website for a company called Mindful Insights. Not sure if it's related to Venture Solutions (like an offshoot or rebrand) or a different entity altogether.

Another site with Brooke's credentials. I had to stop myself here since if I keep pulling this thread I'll probably find out Thomas Brooke was behind the Enron scandal and 2008 financial crisis.

Good question. :oops: I guess the answer is that they don't really abuse the announcement button and have steered clear of the LEAVE GROUP bloodbath I waged about a month ago.

I've left that group.

Now it's time to merge this thread with G2A and lump all the shady shit into one big pile.

Yeah at this point IG is relying on these games to come to steam to make a profit. Wouldn't surprise me if they make note of all of the greenlight shit Groupees bundles and contact the devs shortly after or even before releasing onto steam.

Groupees probably makes business easier for IG, because IG knows which devs are easy pickings..

Even for a bundle of 40 +1s I wouldn't touch dat shit. All of their games end up being free on gleam eventually, and they're usually not too limited, they last for about a day.

There's also the matter of not wanting to support Digital Homicide.. srsly I don't know why Valve allows them to release games on steam. They're one of the worst publishers of all time.

 
The way I see it they exist because we exist. If people don't play the games they buy anyway and just buy it to increase their count and idle for cards then what the hell difference does it make if the game sucks or not and why should someone bother putting a ton of effort into making an indie game that the majority people who buy won't play anyway?

If people stopped buying everything under the sun because it's cheap with no intention of ever playing and no concern for quality then Digital Homicide wouldn't exist. They just fill a demand that the bundle sites created with their greed and ever increasing churn of games with less and less concern for quality. If they had stuck to the old model of Humble highly curated small bundle every few months it wouldn't have been a big deal. But they ramped everything way the hell up so that we ended up with more games than we could ever play but still constantly felt the need to keep buying them compulsively because OMG cheap!

Digital Homicide just calls us on our shit and gives us what we really want, a free or nearly free +1 to our Steam count with card drops. The game isn't even the point. They know and we know it.

Holy shit, Uphold is actually an online bank/investment agency? So you store your money with them, and they let Johnny invest it in stocks and other shit? That's the absolute worst idea I've ever heard. Johnny can't even keep track of bundle contents after a server crash...
