I thought I'd share that after learning about Archi from this thread I just farmed my first card tonight. I tried explaining to my wife what I was doing and I'm pretty sure that the divorce papers are being prepared as I type this.
That's a smart woman you got there.

I got these headphones today and am pretty happy with them for $16. Solid sound, good construction and comes with two cords, a 12' heavy duty cord which will be nice for the computer since I can move it out of the way (rather than have it drape over the keyboard) and a thinner 4' cord for times when you don't need to carry 12' of heavy duty cord with you. The cord jacks into the headphones so if it gets screwed up, you can just buy a new dual-male 3.5mm cable.
I think we know who the monoprice shill is around here. Monoprice mouse, monoprice headphones, what's next?

I love how shitty the Steam sale was. With all the money I saved not buying digital games I'll never play, I can buy a bunch of physical games I'll never play!

Bro Warning:

We tried Congo tonight.  A game with much promise and full of bro-ey qualities.  Shooter, evil ebola zombie monkeys!  What could go wrong?  The game suffers mostly from a horrible camera.  It's TPS and it's the type to induce a mild headache and possible nausea.  I think had the camera not been so bad it would have been playable, but can't really recommend that one.  We never finished a single round, even on easy.  We just ended up getting gang raped by the ebola monkeys every time.

To add to this, it may also be one of the worst optimized games Ive ever experienced. Pretty much a mess in all respects.

Also tonight, I installed the Need for Speed trial on Origin just for the hell of it. Holy crap is it PRETTY. But its pretty damn boring and all cutscenes are FMV which was a bit jarring. Bad actors and crappy NFS cutscenes. It seems like more of the same from the series, but they really knocked out of the park in the looks department.

I love that political discourse in this country (or the world?) has devolved into name-calling and strawman arguments instead of discussing the actual platforms upon which the candidates stand. Here, let me sum up all future political discussion so you guys don't have to continue.

"I'm right, you're wrong. My candidate is the second coming of Jesus Christ and your candidate is the spawn of Satan. Everything my candidate says and does is good and just, whereas everything your candidate does is pure malicious evil. Oh and my candidate can beat up your candidate."
Sweet, have to use that

"I'm right, you're wrong. Gary Johnson is the second coming of Jesus Christ and Hillary/Trump is the spawn of Satan. Everything Gary Johnson says and does is good and just, whereas everything Hillary/Trump does is pure malicious evil. Oh and Gary Johnson can beat up Hillary/Trump."

Needs an autofill but otherwise I like it, works pretty well.

you can't have your cake and eat it too.
I know you totally were thinking in True Detective's sex scene when you wrote it.

Lisa Tragnetti: You just want your cake and to eat it too.
Detective Marty Hart: What the hell good is cake if you can't eat it?
The fox knows the deal

Yeah, terrible game is terrible.

In other news no one cares about, there's this.

Spent about $20 on the sale, which is about as much as I ever spend on one of these things. Mostly picked up random DLCs along with the Deadpool Pinball FX table and the Balls of Glory pack (because 66% seemed good enough for it). As far as actual games, I got sick of looking at Aarklash on my wishlist and ponied up the $2. I semi-fakeyed The Deadly Tower of Monsters at 50% because everything (except possibly the gameplay itself, ironically) about that game, from the retro sci-fi aesthetic to the cheesy commentary "meta" aspect of the story seemed to be right up my alley.
Pregnancy looks interesting, Press X looks funny, and The Final Take has pretty good reviews.

Pregnancy
The Deadly Tower of Monsters
Aarklash: Legacy
Pinball FX2 - Deadpool Table
Dino D-Day Comic - Issue #1
The Final Take
Press X to Not Die
Pinball FX2 - Balls of Glory Pinball
Goodbye Deponia Premium Edition Upgrade
Blackguards Deluxe Edition Upgrade
Press X to Not Die - Soundtrack

I thought about snagging Arkham Knight, because I keep thinking that in the near future I'll have some extra funds to direct toward a new PC, but I'm not sure when that's going to be true at this point, so I figured I'd just wait for the next seasonal sale on it. Or perhaps it will turn up in a WB Humble between now and then.

Evolve...?

Free-to-play...?

But if so, it looks like an interesting short "serious" game; I'm sure that sort of thing is not everyone's cup of tea, but, hey, it's not just me, there's also the usual suspect. . .

I would imagine conception to be a short game while pregnancy would take 9 months...

Table Top Racing World Tour is glitched on the Humble Store if anyone cares. It's $4.99 when it's meant to be full price. Well, that's if you believe the dev..

EDIT: Ok, MSRP should be $14.99 so it's technically not 75% off. $4.99 isn't too bad though.

EDIT 2: It's possible that it's a bad glitch if the dev meant that the MSRP is supposed to be $14.99 but with a 75% off discount.. so it could end up cheaper if they "fix" it. Be careful

No, technically it's only 66% off because MSRP is meant to be $14.99 and it is $4.99 on Humble Store. Still a deal though, but the Humble page is deceptive.
Yeah I noticed that and fixed my post. I think what may have happened is they missed the 1 in $14.99 and accidentally made it $4.99, just a guess.

Yeah, that seems like a mistake I wouldn't expect Humble to make. I thought devs controlled their own discounts on humble? Or is that only if they use the widget?

I don't think devs controll completely their own discount. I saw another price glitch like 1 or 2 months ago and the dev was aware of it and he tried to get in contact with HB to fix it.

According to Sifu, the MSRP just got changed from $19.99 to $14.99 on steam recently (a day or less maybe?). I doubt devs have direct control over what's on the Humble Store, it's probably Humble that have to input the prices.

Been playing Kholat and -- it's a bit of a slog.  It's a walking simulator mystery/story game where you're piecing together the story of some dead students in the ass-end of Russian nowhere and the game is largely played by you trudging along through the howling wind and snow and finding journals, letters and other clues.  Obviously it wouldn't be much of a story if the answer was "forgot to bring a can opener" so there's some supernatural bugaboos haunting the place who aren't thrilled about you being there.  It's open map so there's a fair bit of wandering around trying to find your next clue.

Atmospherically, it's great.  Feels cold, isolated and miserable.  Spooky stuff feels spooky.  Playing it is... slow.  Both the pacing of the game and your actual movement rate as you plod through the snow.  You can sprint, but only for a few seconds before becoming exhausted.  Since the map is open, you can spend a good time crunching your way through the mountain looking for something of note.  Worse, the three-second sprint is your only defense against the monster(s) so, if you're caught unaware, it can easily be another 5-10 minutes of trudging back to where you were from your last save point.

The game was on my radar because I'm a sucker for Soviet Bleak: Stalker, Metro, hell I even played through Cryostasis.  Kholat has some good moments so far but they're separated by a lot of downtime and it doesn't take too long before the novelty of wandering through snow wears off and you start feeling like you could be playing something more rewarding.  Maybe it'd be worth playing out of a bundle but I'd have a real hard time recommending that anyone spend money on it directly.

I finally crossed 4K games and now am an Ambassador of Amassment! What was game 4000? Why it was Shmup Love Boom, bundle trash like the rest of my garbage library!

I did Barbie for my 4k. I need to start thinking about 5k. I want something outrageous and trashy but memorable trashy so not Poopees level stuff.

Maybe Monster High?

Spent about 15 minutes trying to find the demo before I read the article. Only valid on July 22. Somebody remind me to do this in a couple weeks, thx.

Barring further edits, I just bought it. Had it in my cart at $9.99 for most of the steam sale but never bit. If it gets cheaper, you're all welcome.

It looks nice though! I do recommend reading up on the real events that inspired it. Makes it more interesting. But yeah, it's a very nice walking simulator through the snow.

Monster High looks like a winner!

Yeah, I just bought it too, and considering he didn't mention the discount maybe it really was just a bad glitch with a higher base price. Anyhow, hope we all have a bro night soon.

Oh lord we have walking simulators 'based on a true story' now?

Someone make one about walking to Walmart then to Best Buy then to Target then to Kmart then hop in a time machine and go trade in for an Atari game at Woolworths. I want a consoletard acrobatics simulator.

Monster High doesn't look that bad for what it is, but Little Orbit is so stingy with discounts. It's more likely they'll reduce the MSRP than give it a good discount

For the 4k/5k/whatever game I don't really worry about discounts. In fact I use it as an excuse to get a game I want that I'd otherwise be too cheap to buy.

So yeah little orbit is probably a good pub to go for.
