Welcome to the Japanese niche games deals and discussion thread!  Feel free to talk about local and import Japanese games here.  Our goal is to maintain a thread dedicated to active deals on niche games including RPGs, Visual Novels (VN), Shoot'em ups (Shmups), Musou, etc.  Also maintained are pre-orders for standard, limited and collector's edition games with key release dates provided.

I've wikified the thread to make it more friendly and open to others that can actively update with important information. You can find the wiki post directly below this one.

NOTE:  Please, leave the censorship discussion away from this thread.  It's common for japanese games to have questionable content outside of the country.  We want to keep discussions to the game itself and not about cultural/societal tolerance.

You can basically friend any of our members, or any moderator, and you will be able to request to join the community under "Communities friends are in" tab, and a mod will approve your request.

You can also leave your PSN ID in the thread, saying you want to join, and we can invite you directly as well.

I've only been playing khbbs aqua file after it won my last pick my game poll myself. Just finished it this morning. Now to find something else to do until pokemon drops.

Happy that I managed to finish 10 games at least this year. Would of finished more if I didn't drop so many games due to one reason or another. That and playing p4g, coldsteel, cyber sluts and zesty sucked up months at a time due to 70 something hours I put into them.

I love it even better if you put each of the party members in nintendo themed costumes for extra lulz. Obviously the blonde kid would be bowser.

Now I want a nintendo themed persona game. Yoshi of the hunger arcana summons shy guy and sniffit!

I finally beat Criminal Girls 2...twice to be exact. Need to be it another....7 times or something. For the end part as was asked about choices at the end:

You choose a girl to see the ending and I think there is some other ending after beating it for all the girls endings similar to the 1st game.

I think I need a break from this game.....I just need to beat a few more times....another few hours....REDEMPTIONNNNNNNNNNNNNN. I will get that platinum if it breaks me!

Shame about the trophies. Watching the video made me think the game is more focused on the songs than on stupid social shit with the characters. The trophy list does reflect that, but it's not a full list, just a few trophies for each set of songs.

X was quite good aside from the ridiculous costume grind stuff. I played through all the songs twice for the campaign and then switched to the song list and played through twice again. Definitely worth picking up IMO.

 
Looks like a beta for God Eater Online (Android only) is now up for a few days in Japan.

The game plays very similar to the regular games and I'm actually surprised it works decently on smartphone.

Still trying to figure out the party and friend list stuff though.

I have the first game and Stranger in my backlog, so I think I will be skipping this one. I'll wait until Demon Gaze 2 for another Experience DRPG. Didn't know they have a Disgaea-ish looking game.

I don't recall the name, it's something something underground and witches something something in the Japanese title. Not from the same publisher (I think), just stating I'm waiting for the localization of that.

Also totally forgot about Demon Gaze 2. For me DT2 was far more enjoyable than Demon Gaze 1 so I kind of forgot to get hyped for Demon Gaze 2.

Dungeon Travelers 2-2 isn't out till 2017 in Japan. I think we'll eventually get it. I forgot about Demon Gaze 2 as well, but I thought the first was maybe too simple for my tastes. It did look nice and played alright, though I hated the equipment system (how to get the equipment in particular). I will likely pass on Operation Babel for now since I still haven't beaten the first. I do hope Coven is the last game announced tomorrow, but we'll see. That one looks pretty cool.

Blanc vs Zombies is $30 on Amazon for those who didn't grab it with the prime discount. First time I've seen it go on sale for a physical copy.

Man, I'm really trying to ignore all these NISA CEs cause I really don't need them and honestly they aren't really worth it especially when they're mentioning a PC version coming as well.

I was bad about buying up all of their LE/CEs for a good while. I think Operation Abyss broke me of it. I got bout 30-40 hours into that game and just couldn't continue. The LE was actually a pretty good one, and looks great on my shelf, but something about owning a LE of a game I didn't enjoy so much makes me have a little regret. Perhaps I need to go back and start it back up again and see. I enjoyed Demon Gaze, so who knows.

The way it's worded doesn't make it sound like it's exclusive. It just sounds like it's a free core to easily evolve into him rather than an digimon exclusive to pre-orders. Japan had something similar that let you pick one of five digimon, but all were obtainable later. So you should be able to obtain that digimon later in the game through normal means.

 
Persona isn't getting delayed to be added to the Nintendo Switch. Sony invested too much on exclusivity already. Nintendo has the mainline SMT instead
 
Color me disappointed in the last NISA announcement. At least now I for sure have something to pair up with Atelier Shallie Plus....was looking for something but will choose maybe Sengoku or the dungeon crawler.

 
If anybody pre-ordered Final Fantasy XV from Amazon, don't forget you have to play that stupid mini-game to obtain the Road Trip DLC sets.

Don't forget, they ship out orders once every item in the order are in stock. So choose wisely if you actually plan to play anything from within the order in a timely manner besides the last shipped game.
