Nintendo Switch Preorder Thread 2.0

Thanks! That is exactly what I was looking for!! Even with shipping it can't be more than $85.....right? eBay prices are even higher for way less reputable sources and slower shipping right now.

Yeah, if you want to do some Cheap-Ass style importing, you'll probably need to wait a little bit. Intermediary companies usually pick up the slack at some point, transporting over more bulk shipments of specialty items so that the shipping costs aren't so high. But this doesn't always happen quickly, especially if supply is constrained in the original territory. (as is often the case near launch)

The good news is that Japan's after market for older video games is thriving, so there should be plenty of long-term supply for a lot of these games for importing down the line. A little patience will likely provide whatever import title you want for a much more reasonable price.
Good advice! I had never imported a game from Japan before, but the Switch being region free has got me wanting to start! I already bought the physical copy of I am setsuna for the Switch (at MSRP, which is great!) from Japan and its great! Can't wait for more!

Yes, patience would probably pay off, but I'm not sure how much I have left after waiting a kabillion years for BOTW...........

Just went to checkout (didn't order),

Order details

Subtotal of products: USD 65.86 Shipping fee / commission: USD 7.81 Invoice amount: USD 73.67

I think I saw they're like $90-95 on ebay? So saving $16-21.

Don't get why people even bother.... it's a simple proxy redirect. It only works at home, or if your friend has a proxy set up as well. Then again, I do have a small army of devices with browsers available that don't require me adding a proxy server at home....
For the novelty of being able to do something you're not supposed to yet. Too much work for me, though. Rather wait till the official version comes from Nintendo before I visit pornhub on the Switch.

Unrelated to the topic at hand, but does anyone know where I can get my hands on Dragon Quest heroes I & II?!? I know it's physical release is in Japan only, but I can only find copyies of it on eBay and they are all from Scalp City USA. :( wayyy too expensive!

Just trying to get a copy of it as close to MSRP as possible, any ideas?
Amazon Japan (like someone already said) and play-asia.com are your best options. It's currently sold out in play-asia, though. http://www.play-asia.com/dragon-quest-heroes-iii-for-nintendo-switch/13/70av87

Got the Glass screen protectors today. Thought the estimate delivery said 3/21, but it shipped yesterday and arrived today. Any recommendations for installing? Never had glass before. The instructions seemed pretty normal but it also included hinges. Think I'm gonna try to use the hinges. I'm going to get a shower and try afterwards. Some people said it's best to do in a steamy room.

Pretty good info for anyone still shopping for microSD cards! Turns out cartridges have the slowest load times, with internal memory winning by a decent margin, and microSD cards taking second place. High end cards have no difference in load times versus UHS-I, often times even being slower.

Also good news, it's super simple to transfer data between cards, no complicated nonsense. Makes digital backups very easy.

I loved this... as many people suggested getting the fastest card you can afford, having no clue if it would make a bit of difference. I have a Samsung Evo 128GB card that I picked up during black friday for $25.... and just got 3 more at walmart last week for the same price on clearance. works well enough for me.

Also, the extra screen protectors Techmatte offered to send for my 1 botched attempt arrived today.... So now I have 2 spare screens :)

For those that have Joy-Con issues (like myself). It looks like Nintendo is making good on repairs. I'll probably send mine in next week (https://www.reddit.com/r/NintendoSwitch/comments/5zt2pd/psa_can_confirm_nintendo_repaired_left_joy_con/)
Hopefully someone opens their returned JC, so we can see if a new board with a better antenna was installed, or if they just did a quick fix of some kind. Either way, as long as it works, that's the most important thing, I'm just curios as to the fix that was used?

Roughly speaking:

Difference in load times are...

Internal memory: 30 second load

SD cards: 34 second load

Cart: 35 second load

for longer loads

and

Internal memory: 8.7 second load

SD cards: 9.3 second load

Cart: 9.5 second load

...for shorter loads.

Not a big enough difference for me to purchase digital over physical. If it was 30 sec, a minute etc. Then I would care.

Yeah, for big digital games you'd have to go with an SD card anyways. A fraction of a second per loading screen is negligible.

Just got a delay email from Best buy about my binding of isaac... It'll be delivered to me by 4/16. This is ridiculous!

Always funny to see the pro digital crowd try to come up with any benefit possible to make up for all the disadvantages it has compared to physical. Oh, my games will take an extra few seconds to load? I think I'll live.

Weird, it's in-stock on their site and my copy is out for delivery.

Not everything has to be so petty, man. Just sharing the info for people who still need to get microSD cards if they are planning to download stuff.

I think this is more a smack to the face to everyone that suggested buying super fast cards, which are more expensive, than the pro digital crowd.

2 things that quite a few people online claimed that just about any USB-C charger would work and the fastest SD card would be best without testing it. Now we know USB-C PD chargers are best suited and you should be fine with UHS-1 class sd cards.

exactly. Some games are digital only, so an SD card is needed eventually.

That's weird. My copy shipped yesterday and is Out for Delivery today.
Just got out of a chat with them. They couldn't make any changes to the order because it was in the preparing phase, so she offered to create a replacement order and I could return the original copy when I get it. I had to decline because I have the Visa promo on that order and didn't want to lose it. So then she offered a $15 partial refund for the delay. I'm pretty satisfied, even though I really did want to play Isaac this weekend. After it's all said and done though, my order total is $67 shipped for the Pro Controller and Isaac after the Visa Promo and delay refund.

Yeah...I'm not too pleased. I mean it came in a pack of 2 glass protectors. I'm waiting for this one to get scratched up before I try the other. Anyway, pic below. I peeled up the glass and it is just the glue of the tempered glass...no issue with the plastic screen. And everything was perfectly clear before docking the system.

As an update to my first amFilm tempered glass screen protector...I played BotW for about 4 hours yesterday, removed the Switch from the dock and noticed the adhesive is creeping up to the visible screen portion (at first it didn't bother me because it was just on the bezel).
Again, I didn't wait to cure the protector after installation. I did email TechMatte about it and they did say they have done testing of the screen protector on the dock and didn't come across any issues on their end. They did tell me to make sure there were no bubbles when the protector is installed (there wasn't when I installed mine). They were nice enough to send me another pack. If the new ones don't work, I'll probably look into the ones by ORZLY.

I waited 2 days (played Zelda in handheld mode) and played for a few hours after I was able to dock it again. I pulled the unit from the dock this morning and did not have any issues with the screen.

My replacement dock came in just a few minutes ago.

Came in a non-descript box from NOA - but the dock itself wasn't in a box.

Interesting, looks like it was pulled from a retail box.... Wonder if Nintendo just got a ton of extra stuff (since refurbs probably don't exist yet) instead of actually repairing parts... of which, what was wrong with your dock?

For those that will get the amFilm glass protector in the next few days, remember Directive's tips about installing it. Going to follow them myself when I finally get the protector (which should be before the 23rd, according to Amazon).

Hi guys & gals- here's my "amFilm 2-Pack Glass Protector" review:

Pros:

1. Cheap. I purchased it for $9.99 (includes 2x protectors) & it's up @ $10.99 now. I'm fairly certain it was $8.99 at one point. I was ready to purchase a Cyber Glass item @ Playasia if these weren't decent.
2. Good quality.
3. Clear instructions & 2x pairs of prep wipes are packed in as well.

Cons:

1. 1x protector had a "toothpick" diameter impact mark on the glass.
2. While the instructions are very clear, I feel that holding the final plastic tabs on both ends (before actual contact between the screen & the glass), is a bad idea. Here's why:

The tabs weren't strong enough to hold up the glass & then suddenly plop, it dropped mal-aligned. The result was lifting the glass back up & that's a PITA. On my last image, you'll see a swarm of dust resting where I lifted.

I would suggest holding the perimeter of the glass, & after LINING up the indicators, place it down quickly. Pull the tabs thereafter.

I'm going to contact the company for a replacement & I'm positive they'll ship me a new glass.

Lastly, for some reason some of images didn't upload with the correct Rotation.

Techmatte sends an email directly to you after purchase. If you respond to them directly through that email with any problems, they will bend over backwards to make you happy, even if 1 protector worked fine. I had the "plop" issue (screen separated from the tabs too early, causing me to try again with the 2nd protector) and less then 3 days later, a new pack arrived in the mail, and I told them my second protector went on perfect. Not many companies would do that as long as 1 of the 2 protectors works.

Also, wait a day or 2 before placing it back in the dock.some have had issues with the switch heating up the adhesive, warping the view around the edges. I have not had that issue yet myself.

It was the amFilm protector. I play mainly in handheld mode, but docked it over night about 2 hours after installing, have no visible signs.

Yeah, after what what happened to XeroFun I'm going to wait about 24 hours before I place the tablet in the dock. Everyone should learn from what happened to him or her and not commit the same mistake.

Yes, please learn from me. I am going to take my initial one off and try out the 2nd one and wait 48 hours. To be honest, no where on the instructions does it state that you should wait for it to "cure." Usually you only have to do that when you are working with a wet install of a screen protector.

Dang it I put my amfilm protector on today then just threw my Switch in the dock. Guess I'll find out if I have the adhesive screen issue. Should've read CAG before I put it on. 😕

I purchased and installed the amFilm protector earlier this week. So far no issues but I did wait a few days before docking it.

My store and surrounding stores are getting 5 greys next week. I would assume most stores will be getting some

Yeah, I've been using wet and dry installs for ages, and the wet is the only one I've ever seen that needed to cure, as the wet agent has to dry. The same way you get a tint on your car windows, and they tell you not to roll down the windows for a few days, as they need time to dry properly. The standard dry screen protectors are held in place with static cling, and once it is flat on the screen, and the bubbles are worked out, it's as in place as it will ever be.

Now I haven't used any of those glass ones yet, but I have Hori dry screen protectors on every device(and many 3rd party ones as well), and Skinomi wet full body ones, and the Hori ones have never needed any period of dry time, as there is nothing to dry. But maybe some of these newer ones use some kind of adhesive, that requires time to dry, I just haven't ran across one yet.

There's a Nintendo Switch restock coming to gamestop this Wednesday: https://twitter.com/gamestopcorp/status/842804837884612608

Yeah, and it's in store only if you can believe it. So none of those overpriced bundles online. I think maybe "N" told them if they more more stock, "cut that shit out", if anyone's going to fleece our fan base, it's going to be us. LOL

Just installed amfilm on my Switches. Really small air bubble on one but I will live with it. I will not dock the Switches all weekend. Watched an install video on YouTube. Not necessary but I wanted testimony for the product.

Normally I would agree 1000% , but posts here and at other places showing ripples after a few hours of play after applying the protector had me concerned and 2 days in handheld mode is not that big of a deal. And so far so good.

For sure, better safe than sorry, as there is no harm in waiting. Like I said, those protectors may use an adhesive that is new to the product, so anything is possible in regards to the finished product, and how it may be affected in certain situations.

Trying to use Amazon.jp to get I am Setsuna and it's telling me it can't ship. I'm in the US down in Texas. Not sure what I'm doing wrong and I've never imported before
