I'm waiting on Assassins Creed to stop boring me to death with the "real world" stuff. I just want historical fiction, not this modern day conspiracy & virtual reality nonsense.

I realize that said nonsense is the cornerstone of the franchise so I'll be waiting a long while.
I was never much of a fan of the Desmond gameplay in the early AC games or the "walk around in first person in a game-studio where you're the player checking out other people's computers and mini-stories" stuff in some of the later AC games.

But, since they seem to want to do an old and modern-day mixed story - shouldn't they just make this modern-day stuff in say cut-scenes here or there (like Syndicate did)? Or maybe do fleshed-out TV style episodes (like Quantum Break does) or something?

EDIT:

I just have this feeling, Syndicate last go around, more or less, perfected the AC format - they fixed all the traversal stuff, improved the combat there, had a good story, had great characters, had a great setting, and left the modern-day stuff as cut-scenes which felt like it was rewarding the player w/ cool videos and scene to watch instead of just boring them (i.e. it was better than the boring Desmond stuff in old AC titles and first-person roaming in game-studio nonsense.)

It's probably going to take a few iterations, before they get this open-world ARPG formula right with AC system - especially w/ the new lock-on system in combat, Dark Souls combat system, and the loot-system.

When it gets cheaper, I might actually want to check it out - despite its issues, still sounds interesting enough. Love that Egypt's the setting, this time around. But for now, too far behind on my AC stuff and not that much interested in open-world UbiSoft AC game style.

While SWTOR limits too much on the free to play aspect (too few character slots, slower move speed, and action bars are locked behind a small paywall for goodness' sake), once you pay $5 your account gets permanently upgraded to a "preferred" account with fast move speed/mounts earlier, more action bars, etc. For $5, the game was totally worth it. Some of the best voice-acted MMO story I've ever played. Like all MMOs, playing with friends is much better, though the story instances really make it tough to play certain parts together. (Guild Wars 2 really shines in this area)
As a traditional "tab targeting" MMO (as in, not an action MMO), it is one of the better ones, though it does lack outside of story content.
I played to almost max level with my wife and brother-in-law and we had a blast together, but I'm not sure if I could get back into it if I tried, though that is probably just because of my shift in preferences and time-constraints as I get older.
What about someone like me who bought the original release?

Noon, CST

At first I assumed you meant date and thought "Someone just posted these a few days ago" and went back pages to find said post... and realized that you were the one who made it.
Yea, I meant to add what "time" but was on my phone in bed when I originally typed that.

fixed!

I couldn't say how the game compares to the original release to now as I didn't play until it was F2P. I believe those who bought the game at launch automatically have at least preferred status if not more "perks" over F2P.

When does the winter sale start?

First Wolf II reviews are starting to hit. All are gushing. 9's 10's "Masterpiece", "one of the best single-player stories of all time" etc. Just google the game title and you'll run into a few. One PC review thus far but no mention of tech aspects yet.

Now if AMD/Bethesda/whomever would get on with delivering keys for it....

Well I got a SeedyKeys email about my Wolfenstein key being ready but when I click the link it says access denied and won't show me the key.  Time to find out how good/bad their customer support is I suppose.

Are you logging in from someplace you haven't before? Whenever I've had to claim my key I've had to provide my phone # and they send a text or do a robocall to read a code to me.

At any rate, I've had to deal with their CS twice before, both times they went above and beyond to make it right.

Lowest score I see looks like PC Gamer with a 81 here - http://www.pcgamer.com/wolfenstein-2-the-new-colossus-review/

I don't know if their scores can be trusted (it might be low here, given the other reviews?), after the Dragon Age 2 scored at 94% fiasco.

No, even redeemed a code for something else that I preordered ages ago a couple of days ago with no issue. Glad to hear that CS was helpful though.

we all know why it scores 94%.

GMG has Halloween sale, extra 15% off with voucher.  They also have 20% voucher supposed to work on PUBG, but it's having problems generating that one ATM.

I had such high hopes.
My fiance and I ordered it after WoWing for so many years... and were completely disappointed.
Played for 6 months.. went back to WoW..

We even bought the collector editions...
Not sure how long I played but I think the second raid came out around the time our guild started losing interest. A group of friends that I had played multiple MMOs with all went to SWTOR at launch and were really enjoying it for a while. The class stories were hit and miss, some were very, very good and others were a bit disappointing but the leveling process was still a lot of fun. The instances were enjoyable and it had some nice callbacks to the old TOR games. Then we began to notice just how much it was copying WoW for the endgame but doing so poorly. The game had the exact same style of dps-check gear grind as WoW did without adding anything new and with less to do outside of gearing up for the one raid, the last boss of which was buggy as heck. Uninspired PvP outside of Huttball and the first updates didn't live up to what the initial game offered. I have heard a lot of things have improved, including better story in the non-endgame stuff but I also heard that in between when I left and when it started getting better it was a lot worse. There is just so much to play including WoW being better than it has been in years (at least IMHO) I am just not sure when/if I could ever get back into it and I say that as someone who grew up loving Star Wars and is pretty easy to please with a game in that universe. But I redeemed the codes anyway because who knows..

The PC Gamer article I read suggested that the expansions would only be available for free for a limited time, sort of like a 6-day free trial if you use the code now. If that's true, there's pretty much zero chance I'll use this content either. MMO fatigue hits me hard and often for some reason, which is why I've never levelled a character past 48ish in LOTRO despite playing off-and-on for most of that game's life. It's about time for me to jump in for the seasonal content and lose interest again. . . . When I got TOR, I played one of the class stories up to when you leave the first planet, switched to a different class for a few hours and then had had enough. I think time spent in MMOs tends to remind me that I could be spending that time playing any number of well-reviewed single-player games that I currently have backlogged.

Well, when the CE dropped to $30, it was a pretty fantastic bargain. I have one of those huge boxes in my computer room.
The thread where I found out about it had some arguing back and forth but seemed pretty insistent that you keep the expansions, you just have limited time to use the code. ::shrug::

More codes I stole from a reddit post:

SWCELEBRATION17 (free droid)
SWCANTINA17 (free mount)
NYCANTINA17 (free mount)
NYCANTINA16 (free mount)

As for LotRO, you really missed out on a great game during the base game and Moria years. The original instances were a lot of fun, and most of the Moria ones were as well. After that it started to go downhill but still was pretty enjoyable at times. It went to to complete crap with the Rohan expansion when the questing became unbearably dull and and the endgame became non-existant. I finally lost interest in my intermittent playing of the game. I heard that it started to improve somewhat when Gondor stuff started showing up and I went back briefly but the endgame was still horrible, recycled content, tons of grinding for uninteresting gear and they still had not recaptured the feel of the early game areas. It wasn't until recently that they started actually adding new endgame content (instances/raids) and I have been told the grind is pretty annoying and they have had a few serious issues since the Modor launch that made even some of the remaining die-hards angry. I had planned on going back for Mordor to at least see it, but nothing I have heard so far makes me want to. Plus the expansion had a pretty big price tag attached to it and with the games recent track record a lot of people were not going to shell out more than the cost of a WoW expansion for it, myself included.

The PvP was always garbage but I liked the rest of the game enough in the early years that I didn't care.

Looks like Nioh: Complete Edition is up for pre-order on GMG and it's listing the retail price at $49.99.  Assuming this isn't a mistake that's kind of cool to see them sell the complete edition for $50 instead of $60.

Still worried it will be a subpar port though (as is the usual case with Koei Tecmo PC ports).  LOL

Yea Im in at that price, but really want port impressions before the plunge.

AMD Rewards page just updated the Wolfenstein area with "developer" info underneath the box where the key goes, so there seems to be some movement on this finally. Hopefully for today, but fine with tomorrow. I dont care about preloading.

Well, there IS a 20% off GMG voucher (under the VIP section) that's good for the next 40 some odd minutes that is applicable on Nioh: Complete Edition. So it drops the overall total to $37.99.

It's tempting as hell, I'll say that much. LOL

EDIT: Apparently the voucher's timer changed to 8 and 1/2 days now (at least for me).

Since Koei Tecmo is known for shoddy ports I think Nioh might not be worth buying on PC.  It's a faster paced souls game.  It's not a game where you can tolerate technical hiccups.  That pricing appears to have that "we know our game isn't worth $60"  built into it, which is weird.  I'd def wait for the reviews first.

Same. I won't be playing until tomorrow night at the earliest anyway so it's not a big deal so long as I can have it for the weekend.

FWIW, the player pool on PS4 seems to have completely evaporated, as well. It is a good game, the combat system works well and it's fun, people who like FROM's games are all but guaranteed to enjoy it, but a large part of the appeal was being able to co-op, and I've probably spent at least 3-4 hours offering cups at shrines over the past month without ever managing to summon a single soul. When it first came out, you never had to wait more than a minute or two at tops. At this point I view it as a single-player title, I'm guessing I'd have to spend significant time on a LFG site looking for a partner and coordinating schedules, and that sucks. I don't know if that's indicative of the fact that the playerbase isn't very strong or maybe I'm just having incredibly bad luck out of nowhere, but I figured I'd just mention it as a heads up.
